A total of forty-three galena samples from syngenetic and epigenetic Pb-Zn mineralizations emplaced in the Lower Cretaceous Basque-Cantabrian basin and Paleozoic basement of the Cinco Villas massif in the western Pyrenees, have been analyzed for Pb-isotopic composition. Galena from sedex mineralizations hosted in Carboniferous clastic rocks in the Cinco Villas massif display an homogeneous lead isotopic signature (206Pb/2044Pb 18.43, 207Pb/204Pb 15.66, 208Pb/ 204Pb 38.69) suggesting a single lead reservoir. These values are slightly more radiogenic than lead from other European Hercynian deposits, possibly reflecting the influence of a more evolved upper crustal source. Underlying Paleozoic sediments are proposed as lead source for the Cinco Villas massif ores. Analyses from twenty-six galena samples from the four strata-bound ore districts hosted in Mesozoic rocks reveal the existence of two populations regarding their lead isotopic composition. Galena from the western Santander districts (e.g., Reocin) is characterized by more radiogenic isotope values (206Pb/204Pb 18.74, 207Pb/204Pb 15.67, 208Pb/ 204Pb 38.73) than those from the central and eastern districts (Troya-Legorreta, Central and Western Vizcaya, 206Pb/204Pb 18.59, 207Pb/204Pb 15.66, 208Pb/ 204Pb 38.73). In all districts, the most likely source for these mineralizations was the thick sequence of Lower Cretaceous clastic sediments. The existence of two separate lead isotopic populations could be the result of regional difference in the composition of the basement rocks and the clastic sediments derived of it or different evolution histories. In both sub-basins, isotopic ratios indicate an increase in crustal influence as the age of the ores decreases.  相似文献

Lead (and U-Pb) isotope data for sulphides and whole rocks, U-3Pb data for zircons, and Rb-Sr data for whole rocks have been determined in an attempt to elucidate the processes by which the volcanic Pb-Zn-Cu deposit at Woodlawn, southeastern N.S.W., was formed, and to relate this information to current theories of crustal effects in the genesis of volcanic Pb-Zn deposits. The lead isotope compositions of pyrite, galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite from the ore horizon are the same, and identical to the initial lead isotope compositions of pyrite in the host volcanics.Linear relations are obtained for plots of 207Pb/ 204Pb vs 206Pb/204Pb, 208Pb/204Pb vs 204Pb/204Pb, and 238U/204Pb vs 206Pb/204Pb for least altered whole rock volcanics, indicating no loss or gain of U to these rocks since their formation. The similar initial 206Pb/204Pb ratios in the sulphides and host volcanics suggest a common source for the lead. However, acid leach experiments, carried out to remove the ore lead influence, suggest the lead to be a complex mixture of ore and rock lead. The differences observed for high and low lead samples in the acid leaching experiments suggest that these tests may provide an additional tool in prospecting for base-metal sulphides of this type.U-Pb data for zircons from the whole rocks give a spectrum of apparent ages ranging from 428 to 477 m.y. reflecting varying amounts of older zircons or resetting of the U-Pb systems in the volcanics. The older zircons are present either as discrete rounded crystals or cores surrounded by new euhedral growth. The populations and U-Pb data suggest the rocks were pre-existing volcanics with a possible detrital component, whose ages have not been fully reset during remelting. In contrast to the zircon data, U-Pb and Rb-Sr whole rock data define lines proportional to ages of 413±6 m.y. and 409±4 m.y. (1.39×10–11/yr) respectively and the strontium has a relatively high initial ratio of 0.710.The complex zircon population, high initial Sr ratio, Th/U ratios and rare earth data suggest the Woodlawn volcanics were formed by multistage remelting of material of similar chemical composition. Consequently, conformable deposits of this type should not be discussed in terms of the Growth Curve and single stage models of lead development.Mineralization is thought to have occurred at 420 m.y., either from solutions associated with the volcanism and/or concentrated from the volcanics and sediments by circulating sea water, in a shallow convective cell and soon after, or during, the formation of the pile. Alternatively, the multistage processes operating during formation of the Woodlawn volcanics acted as an effective homogeniser of lead isotopes.  相似文献

Early Proterozoic volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Rappen district in northern Sweden were deposited at a destructive plate margin to the south of the Archaean craton of the western Baltic Shield. The volcano-sedimentary suite was intruded by two generations of early Proterozoic granites at ca. 1.89–1.85 Ga and ca.1.82–1.78 Ga, respectively, and metamorphosed at upper amphibolite facies conditions. Small stratabound iron, copper, and zinc deposits occur in felsic to mafic tuffs and arkosic sediments. Small deposits of molybdenum, tungsten, and uranium formed during the emplacement of the younger granites. The lead isotopic compositions of sulfide trace lead from the various deposits are highly heterogeneous. In the 206Pb/204Pb–207Pb/204Pb diagram they fall on mixing arrays between little evolved early Proterozoic lead and highly radiogenic Caledonian lead. The least radiogenic lead isotopic compositions from the various deposits have a wide range of 207Pb/204Pb ratios and thus indicate variable involvement of Archaean crustal lead in the Proterozoic deposits. Deposits hosted by siliciclastic rocks have higher 207Pb/204Pb ratios than deposits hosted in mafic to felsic tuffites. The lead isotopic heterogeneity suggests that the lead in the various deposits was locally derived and, furthermore, that the sedimentary rocks in part originated from the Archaean craton to the north. Lead mixing arrays in the 206Pb/204Pb–207Pb/204Pb diagram demonstrate that in Paleozoic time radiogenic lead was mobilized and transported in the basement. Source ages calculated from the mixing arrays (ca.1.9 Ga and ca.1.8 Ga) correspond to the age of the Early Proterozoic volcanism and metamorphism respectively. One group of deposits includes lead from at least three sources and illustrates that radiogenic lead was multiply mobilized and transported in the Proterozoic basement. It occurs in deposits that occur in zones that became permeable during the reactivations of the basement.  相似文献

Mesozoic and Cenozoic ore deposits in the Chilean Andes between La Serena (~30°S) and Santiago (~34°S) include polymetallic vein, low- and high-sulfidation epithermal vein, skarn, porphyry copper-molybdenum and porphyry copper-gold. These deposits are associated with volcanic and plutonic complexes emplaced in eastward-migrating longitudinal arcs which formed during subduction along the continental margin of South America since the Middle Jurassic. Stratabound, but epigenetic, volcanic rock- and sedimentary rock-hosted manto deposits contain additional copper resources. Lead isotopic compositions in ore minerals from 29 deposits vary with age and geographic location, and hence with basement and host rocks. Lead in most ore deposits is derived from temporally related igneous rocks, except for the manto deposits whose lead is derived from host volcanic and sedimentary rock sequences. Lead in the ore deposits is dominated by two crustal sources. Low 207Pb/204Pb characterizes one source whereas high 207Pb/204Pb characterizes the second source. Lead isotopic compositions of Jurassic and Miocene ore minerals (206Pb/204Pb>18.50; 207Pb/204Pb>15.61) lie along the average crustal growth curve. By contrast, most Cretaceous deposits have ore minerals with lower 206Pb/204Pb (<18.39) and 207Pb/204Pb (<15.58) than Jurassic ore minerals. The shift in lead isotopic composition to lower lead isotopic values precludes derivation of lead from a source of similar composition to those in the Jurassic or Tertiary deposits. For Cretaceous deposits, polymetallic and low-sulfidation epithermal veins and a skarn have lower 206Pb/204Pb than a porphyry copper-gold system and peripheral gold veins at Andacollo (18.43-18.50). Late Cretaceous veins from the Bellavista deposit have the lowest 206Pb/204Pb (18.33) of all deposits. Ore minerals in Miocene and Pliocene porphyry copper-molybdenum deposits have higher 206Pb/204Pb (18.58-18.67) than Cretaceous deposits, consistent with their age being younger. The Miocene and Pliocene ore minerals also have higher 207Pb/204Pb (15.58-15.66) than Cretaceous ore minerals, thereby requiring an additional input from the high-207Pb/204Pb source into the younger deposits. Miocene auriferous deposits in the north have similar 206Pb/204Pb values as the Miocene and Pliocene porphyry copper-molybdenum deposits in the south, but they are distinguished by higher and variable 207Pb/204Pb (15.61-15.66) and 208Pb/204Pb (38.54-39.01), which are arrayed along steep mixing trends. These ore minerals have the largest input of high-207Pb/204Pb material in the deposits studied. By contrast, lead in the epigenetic manto deposits appears to be derived from the host volcanic or sedimentary rock-dominated sequences, and locally exhibits large-scale isotopic heterogeneity within a deposit. Overall, the lead isotopic compositions of ore minerals mimic the values and variations established in age-equivalent rock sequences. The low-207Pb/204Pb material in the deposits is derived from Cretaceous igneous rocks or their sources as they evolved with time; low 207Pb/204Pb characterizes these rocks. By contrast, high-207Pb/204Pb material is likely derived from Carboniferous to Triassic igneous rocks or their sources, as this lead isotopic characteristic dominates these rocks.  相似文献

Lead isotope compositions for individual grains of galena and altaite (PbTe) were determined in situ using a secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS). Galena was collected from the Ross deposit and altaite from the Kirkland Lake (KL) deposits in the southern Abitibi greenstone belt, Superior Province of Canada. The samples from KL are more radiogenic than those from the Ross deposit. Isotopic compositions vary significantly between different grains in each deposit and form broad linear arrays in 207Pb/204Pb-206Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb-206Pb/204Pb diagrams. The linear arrays of Pb-isotope data are attributed to mixing of Pb from different sources. At least two sources are required for individual deposits: one with low U/Pb and Th/Pb ratios and the other with high ratios. Lead minerals occurring with Au are less radiogenic than those that are not obviously associated with Au, suggesting that Au was supplied from low U/Pb sources such as sulphides or older ultramafic-mafic rocks. While most data are consistent with the derivation from local rocks, highly radiogenic Pb with relatively low 207Pb/206Pb ratios recorded at KL require post-Archaean mineralization or derivation of the Pb from an unusual crustal source with low . The latter interpretation is favored because of the lack of textural evidence and because it is difficult to dissolve and precipitate altaite at low temperatures. The presence of a Pb reservoir with low is also inferred from the data of Archaean banded iron formations and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits. Different isotopic patterns of the two deposits suggest different sources of metals in the two deposits. While this conclusion does not reject the derivation of fluids from the lower crust or mantle, the data are not in accord with conceptual models invoking a common source reservoir for metals. The study suggests that fluids, which may have a common origin, leached metals and other constituents from the upper crustal rocks during their ascent. The proposed model, different origins for different constituents, explains much of the conflicting evidence presented by Archaean Au deposits, including provinciality of mineralogy and relatively uniform fluid inclusion and C-isotope data from many Au deposits.  相似文献

Granitoids within the Precambrian basement of north-eastern and southern Somalia are subdivided on the basis of geology, geochronology and petrology into three different assemblages. The post-kinematic assemblage in north-eastern Somalia ( 630 Ma) comprises granodiorites and granites which belong to a medium-K calc-alkaline suite. Average initial Sr, Nd and Pb isotopic ratios [Sri = 0.7048, Nd = –1.8,206Pb/204Pb(i) = 17.704 and207Pb/204Pb(i) = 15.611] indicate that these melts were derived from a mantle or juvenile crustal source with only slight involvement of pre-existing crust as a contaminant. Two different assemblages are found in southern Somalia. The older assemblage is composed of crustal anatectic, synkinematic, parautochthonous granites ( 600 Ma) related to amphibolite facies retrogression of an intensively reworked pre-Pan-African crust [Sri = 0.7100, Nd = –8.4,206Pb/204Pb(i) = 15.403 and207Pb/204Pb(i) = 15.259]. These monzo- and syenogranites are moderately potassic and peraluminous. The younger assemblage ( 470 Ma) consists of post-kinematic monzonites to syenogranites with A-type affinities. Initial Sr, Nd and Pb isotopic data for this metaluminous assemblage [Sri = 0.7114, Nd = –13.1,207Pb/204Pb(i) = 16.913 and207Pb/204Pb(i) = 15.512] indicate a significant lower crustal component but, however, also a mantle signature. The late Proterozoic to early Palaeozoic granitoids in Somalia thus express contrasting regimes, characterized by strong juvenile input in the north, close to the Arabian-Nubian Shield, whereas intense crustal reworking with little addition of juvenile material prevailed in the south. Somalia was definitively not a cratonic area during the Pan-African, but a zone of high crustal mobility.  相似文献

The Lovozero alkaline massif—an agpaitic nepheline syenite layered intrusion—is located in the central part of the Kola Peninsula, Russia, and belongs to the Kola ultramafic alkaline and carbonatitic province (KACP) of Devonian age. Associated loparite and eudialyte deposits, which contain immense resources of REE, Nb, Ta, and Zr, constitute a world class mineral district. Previous Sr, Nd, and Hf isotope investigations demonstrated that these rocks and mineral deposits were derived from a depleted mantle source. However, because the Sr, Nd, and Hf abundances in the Kola alkaline rocks are significantly elevated, their isotopic compositions were relatively insensitive to contamination by the underlying crustal rocks through which the intruding magmas passed. Pb occurring in relatively lower abundance in the KACP rocks, by contrast, would have been a more sensitive indicator of an acquired crustal component. Here, we investigate the lead isotopic signature of representative types of Lovozero rocks in order to further characterize their sources. The measured Pb isotopic composition was corrected using the determined U and Th concentrations to the age of the crystallization of the intrusion (376?±?28 Ma, based on a 206Pb/204Pb versus 238U/204Pb isochron and 373?±?9 Ma, from a 208Pb/204Pb versus 232Th/204Pb isochron). Unlike the previously investigated Sr, Nd, and Hf isotopes, the lead isotopic composition plot was well outside the FOZO field. The 206Pb/204Pb values fall within the depleted MORB field, with some rocks having lower 207Pb/204Pb but higher 208Pb/204Pb values. Together with other related carbonatites having both lower and higher 206Pb/204Pb values, the combined KACP rocks form an extended linear array defining either a?~2.5-Ga secondary isochron or a mixing line. The projection of this isotopic array toward the very unradiogenic composition of underlying 2.4–2.5-Ga basaltic rocks of the Matachewan superplume and associated Archean granulite facies country rock provides strong evidence that this old lower crust was the contaminant responsible for the deviation of the Lovozero rocks from a presumed original FOZO lead isotopic composition. Evaluating the presence of such a lower crustal component in the Lovozero rock samples suggests a 5–10% contamination by such rocks. Contamination by upper crustal rock is limited to only a negligible amount.  相似文献

The Almadén district constitutes the largest and probably the most intriguing mercury concentration in the world. Two types of mineralization are recognized: 1) stratabound, of Lower Silurian age, well represented by the large Almadén deposit; and 2) fully discordant mercury deposits of minor importance in terms of size, and exemplified by the deposit of Las Cuevas. The latter ones can be found at different positions along the Almadén stratigraphic column. Both types of deposits are always associated with the so-called frailesca rocks (diatremes of alkali basaltic composition). This paper reports the first lead isotope compositions of cinnabar in the district. Whole samples and stepwise leaching cinnabar aliquots display relatively homogeneous isotopic compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 18.112–18.460; 207Pb/204Pb = 15.635–15.705; 208Pb/204Pb = 38.531–38.826). Taken together with Jébrak et al.s (2002) pyrite lead isotope results, the new cinnabar isotopic data define a steep array trend on the 207Pb/204Pb– 206Pb/204Pb diagram, indicating a mixed contribution of lead and probably mercury from different sedimentary sources in the Almadén basin. The Almadén Hg deposits are related to a contemporaneous mafic magmatism that might have provided part of the mercury. Hydrothermal leaching of organic matter from sedimentary rocks and formation of Hg organic complexes enhanced metal solubility, promoting transport from and within the volcanic units.Editorial handling: M. Basalts in the Southern Rocky Mountains province have been analyzed to determine if any of them are primitive. Alkali plagioclase xenocrysts armored with calcic plagioclase seem to be the best petrographic indicator of contamination. The next best indicator of contamination is quartz xenocrysts armored with clinopyroxene. On the rocks and the region studied, K2O apparently is the only major element with promise of separating primitive basalt from contaminated basalt inasmuch as it constitutes more than 1 % in all the obviously contaminated basalts. K2O: lead (> 4 ppm) and thorium (> 2 ppm) contents and Rb/Sr (> 0.035) are the most indicative of the trace elements studied. Using these criteria, three basalt samples are primitive (although one contains 1.7% K2O) and are similar in traceelement contents to Hawaiian and Eastern Honshu, Japan, primitive basalts.Contamination causes lead isotope ratios, 206Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb, to become less radiogenic, but it has little or no effect on 87Sr/86Sr. We interpret the effect on lead isotopes to be due to assimilation either of lower crustal granitic rocks, which contain 5–10 times as much lead as basalt and which have been low in U/Pb and Th/Pb since Precambrian times, or of upper crustal Precambrian or Paleozoic rocks, which have lost much of their radiogenic lead because of heating prior to assimilation. The lack of definite effects on strontium isotopes may be due to the lesser strontium contents of granitic crustal rocks relative to basaltic rocks coupled with lack of a large radiogenic enrichment in the crustal rocks.Lead isotope ratios were found to be less radiogenic in plagioclase separates from an obviously contaminated basalt than in the primitive basalts. The feldspar separate that is rich in sodic plagioclase xenocrysts was found to be similar to the whole-rock composition for 206Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb whereas a more dense fraction probably enriched in more calcic plagioclase phenocrysts is more similar to the primitive basalts in lead isotope ratios. The primitive basalts have: 206Pb/204Pb 18.09–18.34, 207Pb/204Pb 15.5, 208Pb/204Pb 37.6–37.9, 87Sr/86Sr 0.704–0.705. In the primitive basalts from the Southern Rocky Mountains the values of 206Pb/204Pb are similar to values reported by others for Hawaiian and eastern Honshu basalts and abyssal basalts, whereas 208Pb/204Pb tends to be equal to or a little less radiogenic than those from the oceanic localities. 87Sr/86Sr appears to be equal to or a little greater than those of the oceanic localities. These 206Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb ratios are distinctly less radiogenic and 87Sr/86Sr values are about equal to those reported by others for volcanic islands on oceanic ridges and rises.Publication authorized by the Director, U.S. Geological Survey  相似文献

The paper considers the results of high-precision Pb–Pb isotopic analysis of 120 galena samples from 27 Au and Ag deposits of the South Verkhoyansk Synclinorium (SVS) including large Nezhdaninsky deposit (628.8 t Au). The Pb isotopic composition is analyzed on a MC-ICP-MS NEPTUNE mass-spectrometer from solutions with an error of no more than ±0.02% (2σ). Four types of deposits are studied: (i) stratified vein gold–quartz deposits (type 1) hosted in metamorphosed Upper Carboniferous–Lower Permian terrigenous rocks and formed during accretion of the Okhotsk Block to the North Asian Craton synchronously with dislocation metamorphism and related granitic magmatism; (ii) vein gold–quartz (Nezhdaninsky type) deposits also hosted in Lower Permian metasedimentary rocks; (iii) Au–Bi deposits localized at the contact zones of the Late Cretaceous granitic plutons; and (iv) Sn–Ag polymetallic deposits related to granitic and subvolcanic rocks of the Okhotsk Zone of the SVS. The deposits of types 2, 3, and 4 are postaccretionary. The general range of 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb ratios is 18.1516–18.5903 (2.4%), 15.5175–15.6155 (0.63%), and 38.3010–39.0481 (2.0%), respectively. In 206Pb/204Pb–207Pb/204Pb and 206Pb/204Pb–208Pb/204Pb diagrams, the data points of Pb isotopic compositions of all deposits occupy restricted, partly overlapping areas along a general elongated trend. The various SVS Au–Ag deposits can be classified according to the Pb isotopic composition in accordance with all three Pb ratios. Deposits of the same type show distinct Pb isotopic compositions that strongly exceed the scale of analytical error (±0.02%). The differences in Pb isotopic composition within specific deposits are low and subordinate and have little effect on variations in the Pb isotopic composition of the SVS deposits. The μ2 values (Stacey–Kramers model), which characterize the 238U/204Pb ratios of ore lead sources of the SVS deposits, widely vary from 9.7 to 9.38. The ω2 values (232Th/204Pb) are 39.82–36.61, whereas the Th/U ratios are 4.04–3.86. The content of all three radiogenic Pb isotopes and μ2 values of feldspars from SVS intrusive rocks are strongly distinct from those of galena of stratified gold–quartz and vein gold–quartz deposits and are identical to Pb of galena from Au–Bi and Sn–Ag polymetallic deposits, indicating a mostly magmatic origin for the Pb of these deposits. Detailed isotopic study of the Nezhdaninsky deposit shows different Pb isotopic composition of two consecutive mineral assemblages (gold–sulfide and Ag polymetallic): ~0.30, ~0.07, and ~0.22% for 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb ratios, respectively. These differences are interpreted as a result of involvement of at least two metal sources during the evolution of an ore-forming system: (i) host Lower Permian terrigenous rocks and (ii) a magmatic source similar in Pb isotopic composition to that of Sn–Ag polymetallic deposits. The Pb isotopic composition and μ2 and Th/U values show that lead of stratified gold–quartz deposits combines isotopic tracers of lower and upper crustal sources (Upper Carboniferous–Lower Permian terrigenous rocks), lead of which was mobilized by ore-bearing fluids. The high 208Pb/206Pb ratios and Th/U evolutionary parameter are common to all Pb isotopic composition of all studied Au–Ag deposits and SVS Cretaceous intrusive rocks and indicate that Pb sources were depleted in U relative to Th. Taking into account the structure of the region and conceptions on its evolution, we can suggest that the magma source was related to lower crustal subducted rocks of the Archean (~2.6 Ga) North Asian Craton and the Okhotsk terrane.  相似文献

Lead isotopic composition and uranium and lead concentrations have been determined for galena, sphalerite, pyrite and acetic acid soluble material from the McArthur area in order to test the hypothesis of a dual sulphur source suggested by the sulphur isotope data of Smith and Croxford (Sulphur isotope ratios in the McArthur lead-zinc-silver deposit, Nature Phys. Sci. 245, 10–12 (1973)). Galena, sphalerite and the acetic acid washes from the McArthur deposit have uniform isotopic ratios (206Pb/204Pb, 16.07–16.15; 207Pb/204Pb, 15.37–15.47; 208Pb/204Pb, 35.57–35.89) consistent with other conformable ore deposits, whereas the ratios for pyrite are variable and quite radiogenic (206Pb/204Pb, 16.24–16.49; 207Pb/204Pb, 15.42–15.58; 208Pb/204Pb, 35.82–36.98). Acid washes where dolomite is a major dissolved phase are also radiogenic. The lead in the pyrite appears to have been derived from at least two sources: the less radiogenic lead coming from an exhalative source as for galena and sphalerite and the more radiogenic lead probably being leached from the country rocks. It is proposed that analysis of pyrite for isotopic composition and concentration of lead could be used as an indicator for similar types of deposits in this area.  相似文献

Lead isotope ratios of galena from the carbonate-hosted massive sulphide deposits of Kabwe (Pb-Zn) and Tsumeb (Pb-Zn-Cu) in Zambia and Namibia, respectively, have been measured and found to be homogeneous and characteristic of upper crustal source rocks. Kabwe galena has average isotope ratios of 206/204Pb = 17.997 ± 0.007, 207/204Pb = 15.713 ± 0.010 and 208/204Pb = 38.410 ± 0.033. Tsumeb galena has slightly higher 206/204Pb (18.112 ± 0.035) and slightly lower 207/204Pb (15.674 ± 0.016) and 208/204Pb (38.276 ± 0.073) ratios than Kabwe galena. The isotopic differences are attributed to local differences in the age and composition of the respective source rocks for Kabwe and Tsumeb. The homogeneity of the ore lead in the two epigenetic deposits suggests lead sources of uniform isotopic composition or, alternatively, thorough mixing of lead derived from sources with relatively similar isotopic compositions. Both deposits have relatively high 238U/204Pb ratios of 10.31 and 10.09 for Kabwe and Tsumeb galenas, respectively. These isotope ratios are considered to be typical of the upper continental crust in the Damaran-Lufilian orogenic belt, as also indicated by basement rocks and Cu-Co sulphides in stratiform Katangan metasediments which have a mean μ-value of 10.25 ± 0.12 in the Copperbelt region of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire). The 232Th/204Pb isotope ratios of 43.08 and 40.42 for Kabwe and Tsumeb suggest Th-enriched source regions with 232Th/235U (κ-values) of 4.18 and 4.01, respectively. Model isotopic ages determined for the Kabwe (680 Ma) and Tsumeb (530 Ma) deposits indicate that the timing of the mineralisation was probably related to phases of orogenic activity associated with the Pan-African Lufilian and Damaran orogenies, respectively. Galena from the carbonate-hosted Kipushi Cu-Pb-Zn massive sulphide deposit in the Congo also has homogeneous lead isotope ratios, but its isotopic composition is comparable to that of the average global lead evolution curve for conformable massive sulphide deposits. The μ (9.84) and κ (3.69) values indicate a significant mantle component, and the isotopic age of the Kipushi deposit (456 Ma) suggests that the emplacement of the mineralisation was related to a post-tectonic phase of igneous activity in the Lufilian belt. The isotope ratios (206/204Pb, 207/204Pb, 208/204Pb) of the three deposits are markedly different from the heterogeneous lead ratios of the Katangan Cu-Co stratiform mineralisation of the Copperbelt as well as those of the volcanogenic Nampundwe massive pyrite deposit in the Zambezi belt which typically define radiogenic linear trends on lead-lead plots. The host-rock dolomite of the Kabwe deposit also has homogeneous lead isotope ratios identical to the ore galena. This observation indicates contamination of the Kabwe Dolomite Formation with ore lead during mineralisation. Received: 8 September 1997 / Accepted: 21 August 1998  相似文献

Lead isotopic compositions of more than 130 galena specimens from Phanerozoic metal deposits in China have been analyzed with a standard deviation of less than 0.5%. The ranges of isotopic composition are from 17.8 to 19.3 for Pb206/Pb204, 15.2 to 16.0 for Pb207/Pb204 and 37 to 40.8 for Pb208/Pb204. These values overlap those of MORB, pelagic chemical sediments and intra-oceanic arcs of western Pacific in plots of Pb207/Pb204 vs. Pb206/Pb204 and Pb208/Pb204 vs. Pb206/Pb204. This indicates that mixing between mantle and crustal materials due to partial melting of the Pacific subduction slab is the principal mechanism for ore genesis. On the basis of global Precambrian conformable leads, together with that of Guanmenshan, Pengjiapu and Baiyun deposits in China, it is suggested that mantle lead was developed in a single stage with a (U238/Pb204) value of 7.8. If the ages of igneous rocks associated with these deposits are adopted as formation ages, the mean Th/U of the second stage of crust-mantle evolution can be calculated with a lead mixing model. The meanμ value of China continent is 9.98±0.78, which is in agreement with that of global conformable leads, 9.81±0.58. The mean Th/U ratio of 4.27 is distinctly larger than the global value (3.81), indicating that the China continent is rich in Th. Simultaneously, mean formation ages have also been obtained of the continental crusts in various regions, ranging from 3,000 to 3,800 m.y. and from 2,500 to 2,700 m.y., which are comparable with the age distribution of global Archaean cratons.  相似文献

28 samples of Cenozoic volcanic rocks collected from Shandong Province have been dated by K-Ar method. They are mainly Neogene with an age range of 4–19 m. y. The basalts from Linqu and Yishui in west Shandong Province are Miocene and those from Penglai and Qixia in east Shandong Province are Miocene and Pliocene in age. The basalts from Wudi in north Shandong Province are Middle-Early Pleistocene in age. In each area the duration of volcanic eruption was estimated at about 2–3 m. y. Pb and Sr isotopic compositions and U, Th, Pb, Rb, Sr, and major elements in most of the samples were determined. The isotopic compositions are:206Pb/204Pb—16.92-18.48,207Pb/204Pb—15.30-15.59,208Pb/204Pb—37.83-38.54, and (87Sr/86Sr)i—0.70327-0.70632. There are some positive or negative linear correlations between206Pb/204Pb and207Pb/204Pb, Pb isotopes and Pb content, Pb isotopes and Sr isotopes, and Sr isotopes and other elements. The basaltic rocks from east and west Shandong Province have somewhat differences in isotopic composition and element content. The basalts probably are products of multi-stage evolution of the mantle. They have preserved the primary features of the source, although they were influenced, to some extent, by the contamination of crustal materials.  相似文献

Several Pb-Zn deposits and occurrences within Iran are hosted by Mesozoic–Tertiary-aged sedimentary and igneous rocks. This study reports new Pb isotope analyses for galena from 14 Pb-Zn deposits in the Alborz and Central Iran structural zones. In general, Pb isotope ratios are extremely variable with data plotting between the upper crustal and orogenic curves in a plumbotectonic diagram. The latter may be attributed to Pb inputs from crustal and mantle end-members. Most of the galena samples are characterized by high 207Pb/204Pb ratios, suggesting significant input of Pb from old continental crust or pelagic sediment. Pb isotope data also indicate that some of the deposits, which are hosted by sedimentary rocks in Central Iran and Alborz, have similar Pb isotopic compositions and hence suggest similar source regions. Most of the galenas yield Pb model ‘ages’ that vary between ~140 and ~250 Ma, indicating that mineralization resulted from the extraction of ore-bearing fluids from Upper Triassic–Lower Jurassic sequences. The similarity in Pb isotope ratios for the Pb-Zn deposits located within these zones suggests analogous crustal evolution histories. Our preferred interpretation is that Pb-Zn mineralization within the sedimentary and igneous rocks of the Central Iran and Alborz tectonic regions occurred following a Late Cretaceous–Tertiary accretionary stage of crustal thickening in Iran.  相似文献

Pb, Sr and Nd isotopic compositions have been analyzed in recent granites from Northern Africa, Northern Italy and Greece. Lead isotope compositions of K-feldspars are rather homogeneous, and cluster close to the modern lead of Stacey and Kramers (1975) but with slightly higher207Pb/204Pb and208Pb/204Pb ratios. The Cyclades samples, however, have higher206Pb/204Pb ratios. Addition of mantle-derived lead was probably very limited, which supports a quasi-closed system evolution of this element in the continental crust. The Sr, Nd data fall in the enriched part of the143Nd/144Nd vs.87Sr/86Sr diagram and define a smooth hyperbolic mixing curve. Over a wide area, straddling different orogens, most granites may be accounted for by a binary mixture between a recycled crustal component and a depleted mantle-like component. No correlation is observed between either Pb and Sr or Nd isotopic ratios, or any isotopic ratio and major element contents. Quantitative modelling suggests that two cases fit the Sr and Nd characteristics of these granites: they both require anatexis of the crust on a scale large enough to average the isotopic properties of heterogeneous terranes. In the first case, the mantle-derived component may be represented by differentiated Island Arc-type magmas, and the granites result from mixing these magmas with anatectic melts. In the second case, mantle-derived igneous rocks, such as obducted ophiolites, are part of the crustal source and their variable involvement in the anatectic process causes isotopic variations.CRPG Contribution n 630.  相似文献

Central Fujian Rift is another new and important volcanogenic massive sulfide Pb-Zn polymetallic metallogenetic belt. In order to find out the material genesis and mineralization period of Meixian-type Pb-Zn-Ag deposits, S and Pb isotope analysis and isotope geochronology of ores and wall rocks for five major deposits are discussed. It is concluded that the composition of sulfur isotope from sulfide ore vary slightly in different deposits and the mean value is close to zero with the 834S ranging from -3.5‰ to +5.6‰ averaging at +2.0‰, which indicates that the sulfur might originate from magma or possibly erupted directly from volcano or was leached from ore-hosted volcanic rock. The lead from ores in most deposits displays radioactive genesis character (206pb/204pb〉18.140, 207Pb/204pb〉15.584, 208pb/204pb〉38.569) and lead isotope values of ores are higher than those of wall rocks, which indicates that the lead was likely leached from the ore-hosted volcanic rocks. Based on isotope data, two significant Pb-Zn metallogenesis are delineated, which are Mid- and Late-Proterozoic sedimentary exhalative metailogenesis (The single zircon U-Pb, Sm-Nd isochronal and Ar-Ar dating ages of ore- hosted wall rocks are calculated to be among 933-1788 Ma.) and Yanshanian magmatic hydrothermal superimposed and alternated metallogenesis (intrusive SHRIMP zircon U-Pb and Rb-Sr isochronal ages between 127-154 Ma).  相似文献

Contents of major and most trace elements of granitoids in three intrusions associated with the Cretaceous Independence volcanic complex, Montana, correlate well with SiO2. Major-element contents in granitoids in each intrusion are accurately modeled as mixtures of minimum melts and phenocryst assemblages (presumably restite). Restite assemblages are hypersthene+augite+plagioclase, hornblende+plagioclase, and biotite+plagioclase+quartz. Residues of melting are granulite or amphibolite. Melts in two of the bodies were LREE-enriched but unfractionated in MREE and HREE. REE patterns are consistent with residues dominated by pyroxene or amphibole and feldspar. Initial 207Pb/204Pb and 206Pb/204Pb of granitoids define a line interpreted as a secondary isochron established during crustal homogenization 3.3 Ga ago. The relatively low of source rocks (8.25) suggests that they did not spend long in U-rich environments. Source regions had variable trace element patterns; Th/Pb and U/Pb were correlated, Rb/Sr and Sm/Nd moderately well correlated, but Rb/Sr and U/Pb were decoupled. This is consistent with poor correlation of Rb, Sr and Ba with SiO2 in some granitoids and may suggest that minor phases that concentrate these elements were inhomogeneously distributed in source regions. The source probably consisted of LREE-rich, Rb-poor metamorphic rocks. Archean amphibolites, exposed in the Beartooth Mountains, are similar to the postulated source materials. They contain plagioclase, hornblende, minor quartz, biotite, and muscovite, and have low Rb/Sr and high LREE/HREE. Certain trace-element characteristics of the granitoids indicate that the deep crust in this part of Montana may be dominated by metamorphosed mafic-intermediate lavas that formed on the sea-floor. Metapelites, intercalated with amphibolites at the surface, were rare in granitoid source regions. This buried supracrustal pile was isotopically homogenized 3.3 Ga ago. Although some material melted 2.7 Ga ago to form granites that dominate the exposed basement, enough remained fertile that heating by mantle-derived magmas 85–90 Ma ago produced the granitic rocks at Independence.
