A unified picture of the photodissociation of theC 2 H radical has been developed using the results from the latest experimental and theoretical work. This picture shows that a variety of electronic states ofC 2 are formed during the photodissociation of theC 2 H radical even if photoexcitation accesses only one excited state. This is because the excited states have many avoided corssings and near intersections where two electronic states come very close to one another. At these avoided crossings and near intersections, the excited radical can hop from one electronic state to another and access new final electronic states of theC 2 radical. The complexity of the excited state surfaces also explains the bimodal rotational distributions that are observed in all of the electronic states studied. The excited states that dissociate through a direct path are limited by dynamics to produceC 2 fragments with a modest amount of rotational energy, whereas those that dissociate by a more complex path have a greater chance to access all of phase space and produce fragments with higher rotational excitation. Finally, the theoretical transition moments and potential energy curves have been used to provide a better estimate of the photochemical lifetimes in comets of the different excited states of theC 2 H radical. The photochemically active states are the 22+, 22II, 32II, and 32+, with photodissociation rate constants of 1.0×10–6, 4.0×10–6, 0.7×10–6, and 1.3×10–6s–1, respectively. These rate constants lead to a total photochemical lifetime of 1.4×105 s.  相似文献

Emission fluxes of CN, G2 and C3 carbon-bearing molecular species observed in the spectra of the nuclear fragment A and D of comet West (1976VI) are analysed in the framework of Haser's two-component model with radial outflow symmetry. Gas production rates have been derived and their ratios obtained. We find these vary as Q r n (where 1.0r2.6 is the heliocentric distance in AU) with photometric parametern = -4.11 (CN), -2.68 (C2), -1.89 (C3) andQ x /Q y r n withn = 2.22 (C3/CN), 1.42 (C2/CN), -0.79 (C2/C3). The gas-to-dust ratio, dust production rates in arbitrary units, total number of dust particles in the field of view and an effective radius Reff 2.0 km for the principal nuclear fragmentA is also estimated.  相似文献

Absolute spectrophotometry of the coma of Comet Kohoutek 1973f during post-perihelion period has been presented for seven nights in January 1984. Moderately wide range of heliocentric distance (0.436–0.799 AU) covered during observations allowed us to study the flux variation of emission bands with heliocentric distance. The emission features of CN, CH, C2, C3, and NaI have been identified in this comet. The abundances of CN and C2 have been estimated and the production rates of CN, C2 and C3 have been derived. Production rates of CN and C2 seem to vary as r –0.33 and r –3.50 respectively. The continuum of the comet became more and more redder as the heliocentric distance of the comet increased and phase angle decreased.  相似文献

UX Vir has been classified as an RRab star with the period of P =0.d51286 on the basis of new V(RI) C CCD photometry. A new variable star has also been discovered in the neighbourhood of UX Vir, which is most probably a flare star. The positions, reddening and distances have also been derived. Morse potential energy curves forC 1+ andC 1+ of AlH have been constructed. The energy values have been found to increase from vibrational levels 0 to 6 and decrease from vibrational levels 7 to 50 with the corresponding centre and half-width in the stateC 1+. InC 1+ state the energy values have been found to increase from vibrational levels 0 to 28 and decrease from vibrational levels 29 to 50 with the corresponding centre and half-width.  相似文献

It is generally believed that the only known reaction in whichC p violation definitely occurs is in the decay of the long-lived neutralK-mesonK L +,K L 00, andK L e ±± v (Christensonet al., 1964: Sivaram, 1982). No attempt has been made to studyC p violation outside theK-system for quite a long time. Recently,C p violation effects have been reported in the hyperon decays through the reaction (Bassompierre, 1990) with asymmetry at the level of 10–3 to 10–4.In this paper we examine the possible implications of hyperon decays asymmetry in some cosmic-ray sources. We identify cosmic-ray sources where such decays can occur. The signatures for measuring these asymmetries in both the laboratory and cosmic-ray sources are examined.It is found that there is a correlation between these signatures. We conclude that hyperon decays contribute significantly toC p violation observed in cosmic-ray sources.  相似文献

The photometry of coronal colour negatives is carried out. The films were obtained at the March 7, 1970 and July 10, 1972 eclipses. A distribution of the coronal brightness in the red (635 nm), green (545 nm), and blue (455 nm) wavelength intervals up to distances of (6–7)R is deduced (Figure 1). Colour indexes of the corona (the emission ratio red/blue - C rb and green/blue - C gb) have been obtained. We assume C rb = C gb = 1 in the inner corona (2R ). The maximum of colour indexes of the 1970 corona are at the distances of about 4R (C rb 1.9 and C gb 1.7). A slight reddening within the limits of the errors was found in the 1972 corona.There is a correlation between colour indexes and diffuse external reinforcements (RED) brightness. The analysis of the results leads to the conclusion that RED consists of dust grains with radii 1 m. RED brightness is evaluated to be 4 × 10-10 B . There is 1 grain of dust in the elementary volume with cross section of 1 cm2 along the line of sight. The intensity of dust emission in wavelength interval 10 m deduced by the authors is approximately 1 W cm-2 s m–1. That is in agreement with Mankin et al. (1974) and Léna et al. (1974) observations. The whole dust mass of RED is 1% of the coronal gas mass contained within RED region. The dust grain number density is about 10-11 cm-3.Determinations of the colour of the solar corona have been made by a number of scientists (Tikhov, 1940, 1957; Allen, 1946; Blackwell, 1952; Michard, 1956; Sharonov, 1958; Nay et al., 1961). The corona colour was found to be somewhat redder than the Sun's. However this question is not finally settled to date.  相似文献

The reactivity of C2(X1Σ+g) with simple saturated (CH4, C2H6 and C3H8) and unsaturated (C2H2 and C2H4) hydrocarbons has been studied in the gas phase over the temperature range 24-300 K using the CRESU (Cinétique de Réaction en Ecoulement Supersonique Uniforme or Reaction Kinetics in a Uniform Supersonic Flow) technique. All reactions have been found to be very rapid in this temperature range and the rate coefficients are typically ?10−10 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 with the exception of methane for which the rate coefficient is one order of magnitude lower: ∼10−11 cm3 molecule−1 s−1. These results have been analyzed in terms of potential destruction sources of C2(X1Σ+g) in the atmospheres of Titan and the Giant Planets. It appears that the rate coefficient of the reaction 1C2 + CH4 should be updated with our new data and that reactions with C2H2, C2H4 and C2H6 should also be included in the existing photochemical models.  相似文献

Hall effects on the flow of electrically conducting rarefied gas due to combined buoyant effects of thermal and mass diffusion past an infinite porous plate with constant suction in the presence of strong transverse magnetic field have been investigated. General forms of theB-p relation are investigated in both the isothermal and the non-isothermal regions. The magnetic flux dissipation either by ambipolar diffusion or by Ohmic dissipation has been studied. The rates of heating due to the magnetic dissipation processes have been calculated in comparison with the rate of compressional heating.The magnetic field strength is derived as a function of flux/mass ratio, mass, density, and geometry of the isothermal cloud. In the non-isothermal region, the temperature is added to the above-mentioned variables.It has been found that the magnetic flux starts to dissipate via ambipolar diffusion at neutral density ofn>3×109 cm–3. Ambipolar diffusion continues effective until reaching densities ofn>1011 cm–3, where Ohmic dissipation dominates. Under some conditions, the electrons evaporate from the grain surface atn>1013 cm–3, while the ions are still adsorbed on the grain surfce. In this case, the magnetic flux loss returns to be influenced by ambipolar diffusion.The rates of heating by both Ohmic dissipation OD and ambipolar diffusion AD are found to be smaller than the rate of compressional heating C in case of magnetic dissipation. Assuming that the magnetic field is frozen in the medium, then C is smaller than both OD and AD . The above results of heating were found in the non-isothermal region.  相似文献

High-resolution Fourier Transform Spectrometer sunspot umbral spectra of the National Solar Observatory/National Optical Astronomy Observatory at Kitt Peak were used to detect rotational lines from 19 electronic transition bands of the molecules LaO, ScO and VO, in the wavenumber range of 11 775 to 20 600 cm−1. The presence of lines from the following transitions is confirmed: A 2 Π r1/2 – X 2 Σ +(0, 0; 0, 1), A 2 Π r3/2 – X 2 Σ +(1, 0), B 2 Σ + – X 2 Σ +(0, 0; 0, 1; 1, 0) and C 2 Π r1/2 – A2Δ r3/2(0, 0; 1, 1) of LaO; A 2 Π r3/2 – X 2 Σ +(0, 0), A 2 Π r1/2 – X 2 Σ +(0, 0) and B 2 Σ + – X 2 Σ +(0, 0) of ScO; and C 4 Σ  – X 4 Σ (0, 1; 1, 0; 0, 2) and (2, 0) of VO. However, the presence of A 2 Π r3/2 – X 2 Σ +(0, 0) and C 2 Π r3/2 – A2Δ r5/2(0, 0; 1, 1) of LaO and C 4 Σ  – X 4 Σ (0, 0) of VO are found to be doubtful because the lines are very weak, and detections are difficult owing to heavy blending by strong rotational lines of other molecules. Equivalent widths are measured for well-resolved lines and, thereby, the effective rotational temperatures are estimated for the systems for which the presence is confirmed.  相似文献

The RS CVn-type eclipsing binary AR Lac has been observed in two colours,B andV, in 1978 and 1979. Several times of minima have been obtained during the observations and the new light elements have been calculated. The orbital period of the system was found to be decreasing with an amount of 14.6 s century–1.The light curves of the system obtained inB andV show a significant wave-like distortion outside eclipses. The amplitudes of the wave-like distortion inB andV are about 0 . m 09 and 0 . m 10 in 1978, and, 0 . m 12 and 0 . m 13 in 1979, respectively. The minima of the wave-like distortion have shifted with an amount of 0 . p 40 in one year, thus indicating the migration period of the wave-like distortion is about 2.5 yr.A noticeable variation of light during the totality of primary minimum has also been observed. This variation can be attributed to the distortion wave which has been moving towards decreasing phases.  相似文献

A search for the molecular12C13C isotopic bands in two white dwarfs is described. Spectroscopic observations of the two carbon band white dwarfs, BPM 27606 (=2153-51) andL 879-14 (=0435-08) have been obtained. These data have a resolution slightly better than 2 Å, higher than usually employed for white dwarfs and cover the v=1 vibrational swan bands of the C2 molecule where the isotopic shift is of order 8 Å. The isotopic bands have not been detected. However, upper limits to the12C:13C abundance ratio derived from the data yield12C:13C>40 for BPM 27606 and12C:13C>8 for L879-14. If these ratios are representative of the material in the interiors of the carbon band white dwarfs and taking the low upper limits on the N and O abundances relative to C, this is consistent with the carbon having been formed by the 3 process and not having undergone any subsequent mixing with H-rich material. In addition, the C2 vibrational bandheads are blueshifted, most probably by pressure shifts. This shows that the employment of higher resolutions reveals additional physical effects in the spectra of the carbon band white dwarfs that may become important for interpreting the cool end of the helium rich white dwarf sequence.  相似文献

Fluctuations in the angle-of-arrival of a luminous wavefront are investigated by placing a narrow slit over the image of the solar limb, and observing the entrance pupil through this diaphragm. Measurement of the standard deviation AA of these fluctuations, in a direction perpendicular to the solar limb, provides sufficient information to estimate an absolute parameter characterizing the seeing, i.e. Fried's parameter r 0 or the equivalent parameter L C N 2(h) dh which gives the integral, over an atmosphere thickness L which depends on the spatial and angular filterings performed by the slit, of the structure constant C N 2 characterizing fluctuations in the air's refractive index. Simultaneous estimations of AA 2 and L C N 2 (h) dh permit a linear relationship to be established between these two quantities. The result is interpreted theoretically by integration of the two-dimensional power spectrum for the angle-of-arrival fluctuations. The influence of filtering effects is discussed.Such a calibration can be performed for a given telescope and slit, enabling the system to be used as a seeing monitor.  相似文献

The effective relaxation of one-dimensional gravitational systems towards micro-canonical equilibrium is demonstrated in a series of computer experiments, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness of fit test being used to give a measure of the evolution of the distribution function. The relaxation timescalet R is shorter thanNt C, and thus much shorter than the generally accepted estimatet RN 2tC,N being the number of particles in the system andt C a characteristic dynamical time.  相似文献

We have determined absolute continuum intensities and brightness temperatures of individual facular grains at a spatial resolution limited by the =50 cm aperture of the SVST on La Palma. A facular region at 57° was observed simultaneously in three narrow continuum windows at 450.5, 658.7, and 863.5 nm. We corrected for image degradation by the Earth's atmosphere using the speckle masking method. The brightness temperatures do not exactly follow the Planck law. The differences of T blueT red=220 K and T irT red=–42 K reflect the wavelength dependence of the continuum formation depth. The (red) temperatures of 250 facular grains show excesses between 250 and 450 K above their undisturbed neighborhood. The wavelength dependence of the relative intensity ratios C= [I fac/I phot] show a large scatter around mean values of C blue/C red=1.075 and C ir/C red=0.98. We determined the center-to-limb variation of the 863.5 nm continuum contrast for 0.17>cos>0.39 by measuring 270 grains in reconstructed facular images. The upper envelope of the data points increases linearly to 1.5 at cos=0.17. Application of the mean color dependence yields green contrasts up to C 550=1.7, which is far higher than previously observed values. The behaviour for cos>0.17 is estimated from (unreconstructed) frame-selected best images taken over a time interval of 7 hours. Six distinct facular regions clearly discernible during the whole time interval indicate a slight contrast decrease towards the extreme limb. The observed quantities are useful for an adjustment of model calculations and for a discrimination of competing models.  相似文献

UBV photometry of RS CVn-type eclipsing binary system ER Vulpeculae has been presented. The period comes out to be 0 . d 698093. The average depths of primary and secondary minima are, respectively, 0 . m 21 and 0 . m 12. The colours at various phases have been given. A dip is seen around phase 0 . p 73 as was seen in the observations of Arevaloet al. (1988). Large scatter is present in the observations as noticed earlier, and may be due to activity of the components.  相似文献

UBV photometric observations of the active binary star CG Cygnus have been presented and analyzed to obtain absolute parameters of both components. Updated O-C diagram analysis by Kalimeris method yielded the values of 1.55× 10-6 day and 1.4×10-7day as the amplitudes of orbital period modulation, and Pmod1∼ 52.3 yr and Pmod2 ∼ 15.9 yr as the modulation periodicities. Finally, the consequences of period changes have been discussed on the basis of Applegate mechanism.  相似文献
