An approximate analytical solution is obtained for the stationary response of a highly nonlinear auxiliary mass damper (impact damper) attached to a single-degree-of-freedom oscillator that is subjected to an excitation with white power spectral density and Gaussian probability distribution. Experimental measurements with an electronic analogue computer verify the analytical findings both qualitatively and quantitatively. Results are given for the mean-squared level and the power spectral density of the response. The effects of various damper parameters on the response of the primary system are determined. The impact damper under consideration is shown to be substantially more effective than the conventional dynamic vibration neutralizer in controlling the response of stochastically excited primary systems.  相似文献

A particle tuned mass damper (PTMD), which is a creative integration of a traditional tuned mass damper and an efficient particle damper in the vibration control area, is proposed. This paper presents a comprehensive study that involves experimental, analytical, and computational approaches. The vibration control effects of a PTMD that is attached to a five‐story steel frame under seismic input are investigated by a series of shaking table tests. The influence of some parameters (auxiliary mass ratio, gap clearance, mass ratio of particles to the total auxiliary mass, frequency characteristics, and amplitude level of the input) is explored, and the performance of the PTMD with/without buffered material is compared. The experimental results show that the PTMD can achieve significant damping effects under seismic excitations, and the bandwidth of the suppression frequency is expanded, showing the device's robustness and control efficiency. In addition, an approximately analytical solution that is based on the concept of an equivalent single‐particle damper is presented, and the method to determine the corresponding system parameters is introduced. The Tuned Liquid Damper (TLD) is modelled numerically as an equivalent tuned mass damper with non-linear stiffness and damping. These parameters are derived from extensive experimental results described in References 1 and 2. This Non-linear Stiffness and Damping (NSD) model captures the behaviour of the TLD system adequately under a variety of loading conditions. The results of an experimental investigation into the use of a buffered impact damper for controlling the dynamic response of an MDOF (multi‐degree‐of‐freedom) structure are presented in this paper. Free and forced vibration tests of a three‐DOF test structure equipped with a buffered impact damper are performed to evaluate the resulting damping effect and impact characteristics. The effect of damper parameters, such as clearance, and excitation type on the performance of the impact damper is also investigated. The performance of the buffered impact damper is compared with that of an equivalent conventional rigid impact damper. It is found that the buffered impact damper not only significantly reduces the peak contact force and the associated accelerations and noise generated by collisions but can also substantially enhance the damping effect over a wide range of frequencies, encompassing the natural frequencies of the test structure. This study is concerned with a new isolation device called a Suspended Pendulum Isolation (SPI) system here. Particular attention is given to evaluate the dynamic behaviour of the system under substantial ground motions including the El Centro 1940, Hachinohe 1968 and Kobe 1995 earthquakes. Shaking-table tests have been carried out for a 4 25-scaled model comprising a test structure supported on the SPI system with lead damper. Several yield strengths for the lead damper are examined to investigate its properly designed dimensions. Experimental results show that the SPI system with lead damper has a substantial capability to decrease either peak acceleration or peak base (bearing) displacement responses for broad-band frequency excitations. It also confirms that maximum-storey drift index of isolated structure has been dropped to about one-sixth of its corresponding value at fixed-base condition under strong level of predominant excitation along with considerable decrease of peak acceleration. A non-linear analytical model for an MDOF shear building has been also developed by utilizing the fourth-order Runge–Kutta algorithm. Comparison of analytical and experimental time-history responses for all of the excitations indicates that there is a good agreement in both peak values and shape pattern of the results. Moreover, SPI with an appropriate yield strength of lead damper creates only a very small permanent displacement after strong excitation. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of an experimental and analytical/computational study of the performance of multi‐unit particle dampers with an MDOF system. A series of shaking table tests of a three‐storey steel frame with the particle damper system were carried out to evaluate the performance of the system and to verify the analysis method. An analytical solution based on the discrete element method is also presented. A comparison between the experimental and computational results shows that reasonably accurate estimates of the response of a primary system under earthquake excitations can be obtained. These results also indicate that the excitation characterization influences the performance of the particle damper system, for example, particle dampers have good performance in reducing the seismic response of structures and particle movements of plug flow pattern can yield good vibration attenuation effects. It is shown that by using properly designed multi‐unit particle dampers, a lightly damped primary system can achieve a reasonable reduction in its response, with a small weight penalty. This paper summarizes the relevant results of the design, construction, testing, and implementation of a nominal 120 kN magnetorheological damper developed to control a free‐plan tall building in Santiago, Chile, equipped with two 160‐ton tuned masses. Cyclic as well as hybrid simulation tests were performed on the prototype damper. Global building responses using measured MR properties showed good correlation with analytical estimations. Also, a proposed physical controller for the MR damper was validated through hybrid and building pull‐back tests. Its performance is essentially equivalent to that of an LQR controller, but the information needed in its implementation is considerably less. Pull‐back tests of 10 cm amplitude were performed on one mass along the flexible edge of the building and its response controlled using the passive and controlled modes of the MR damper. The MR damper was capable of controlling the TM displacements very effectively, as well as the simulated building response for different ground motions and harmonic excitation. A magnetorheological (MR) damper has been manufactured and tested and a non‐linear model is discussed. The parameters for the model are identified from an identification set of experimental data; these parameters are then used to reconstruct the force vs. displacement and the force vs. velocity hysteresis cycles of the MR damper for the hysteretic model. Then experiments are conducted on a three‐storey frame model using impact excitation, which identifies dynamic parameters of the model equipped with and without the MR damper. Natural frequencies, damping ratios and mode shapes, as well as structural properties, such as the mass, stiffness and damping matrices, are obtained. A semi‐active control method such as a variable structure controller is studied. Based on the ‘reaching law’ method, a feedback controller is presented. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the control system and the effect of earthquake ground motions, both numerical analysis and shaking table tests of the model, with and without the MR damper, have been carried out under three different ground motions: El Centro 1940, Taft 1952, and Ninghe 1976 (Tangshan Earthquake in Chinese). It is found from both the numerical analysis and the shaking table tests that the maximum accelerations and relative displacements for all floors are significantly reduced with the MR damper. A reasonable agreement between the results obtained from the numerical analysis and those from the shaking table tests is also observed. On the other hand, tests conducted at different earthquake excitations and various excitation levels demonstrate the ability of the MR damper to surpass the performance of a comparable passive system in a variety of situations. 本文根据双自由度系统的随机反应,推导了设置调谐质量阻尼器的单自由度系统的运动方程,求出了白噪声基底输入时,设置TMD的单自由度系统的反应方差与未设置TMD的单自由度系统的反应方差之比,并采用模式搜索法对其进行优化方法,得到了TMD系统的最佳减振效果以及相应的TMD的参数取值,本文的分析表明,TMD系统对减小白噪声基底输入的单自由度系统的随机反应是十分有效的。  相似文献

城市桥梁粘滞阻尼器防地震碰撞分析与参数设计   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
研究了粘滞阻尼器防止城市梁桥地震碰撞反应的效果并提出了其参数设计方法。分析了线性粘滞阻尼器与非线性粘滞阻尼器阻尼系数的等效关系。运用随机振动理论与随机等效线性化理论建立了邻联间安装粘滞阻尼器后最大相对位移及墩顶最大位移的计算方法。以控制邻联最大相对位移小于实际间隙为目标,提出了防碰撞粘滞阻尼器参数设计方法。对1座4跨隔震连续梁桥进行了仿真分析,结果表明:粘滞阻尼器能有效抑制邻联的碰撞反应且不会显著增大桥墩的延性需求。在相同阻尼系数的情况下,粘滞阻尼器的速度指数越小,其防碰撞效果越好。利用人工波进行的时程分析结果验证了参数设计方法的可行性。  相似文献

The dynamic behaviour of two adjacent single‐degree‐of‐freedom (SDOF) structures connected with a viscous damper is studied under base acceleration. The base acceleration is modelled as harmonic excitation as well as stationary white‐noise random process. The governing equations of motion of the connected system are derived and solved for relative displacement and absolute acceleration responses of connected structures. The response of structures is found to be reduced by connecting with a viscous damper having appropriate damping. For undamped SDOF structures, the closed‐form expressions for optimum damping of viscous damper for minimum steady state as well as minimum mean square relative displacement and absolute acceleration of either of the connected SDOF structures are derived. The optimum damper damping is found to be functions of mass and frequency ratio of two connected structures. Further, numerical results had indicated that the damping of the connected structures does not have noticeable effects on the optimum damper damping and the corresponding optimized response. This implies that the derived closed‐form expressions for optimum damper damping of undamped structures can also be used in practical applications for damped structures. In this study, several mass dampers were designed and fabricated to suppress the seismic responses of a ¼‐scale three‐storey building structure. The dynamic properties of the dampers and structure were identified from free and forced vibration tests. The building structure with or without the dampers was, respectively, tested on a shake table under the white noise excitation, the scaled 1940 El Centro earthquake and the scaled 1952 Taft earthquake. The dampers were placed on the building floors using the sequential procedure developed by the authors in previous studies. Experimental results indicated that the multiple damper system is substantially superior to a single tuned mass damper in mitigating the floor accelerations even though the multiple dampers are sub‐optimal in terms of tuning frequency, damping and placement. These results validated the sequential procedure for placement of the multiple dampers. The structure was also analysed numerically based on the shake table excitation and the identified structure and damper parameters for all test cases. The main intention of the present study is to reduce wind, wave, and seismic induced vibrations of jackettype offshore wind turbines (JOWTs) through a newly developed vibration absorber, called tuned liquid column gas damper (TLCGD). Using a Simulink-based model, an analytical model is developed to simulate global behavior of JOWTs under different dynamic excitations. The study is followed by a parametric study to explore efficiency of the TLCGD in terms of nacelle acceleration reduction under wind, wave, and earthquake loads. Study results indicate that optimum frequency of the TLCGD is rather insensitive to excitation type. In addition, while the gain in vibration control from TLCGDs with higher mass ratios is generally more pronounced, heavy TLCGDs are more sensitive to their tuned frequency such that ill-regulated TLCGD with high mass ratio can lead to destructive results. It is revealed that a well regulated TLCGD has noticeable contribution to the dynamic response of the JOWT under any excitation.  相似文献

In this paper, the effects of a mass damper on the rocking motion of a non‐symmetric rigid block‐like structure, subject to different seismic excitation, are investigated. The damper is modelled as a single degree of freedom oscillating mass, running at the top of the block and connected to it by a linear visco‐elastic device. The equations of rocking motion, the uplift and the impact conditions are derived. A nondimensionalisation of the governing equations is performed with the aim to obtain an extensive parametric analysis. The results are achieved by numerical integration of these equations. The slenderness and the base of the rigid block, and the eccentricity of the centre of mass are taken as variable parameters in the analyses. The main objective of the study is to check the performance of the damper versus the spectral characteristics of the seismic input. Three earthquake registrations with different frequency contents are used in the analyses. The results show that the presence of the mass damper leads to different levels of improvement of the response of the system, depending on the spectral characteristics of the seismic input. A magneto‐rheological (MR) damper is a semi‐active device where the damper force capacity is controlled by varying the input current into the damper. In this paper, the dynamics of MR dampers associated with variable current input is studied. Electromagnetic theory is used to model the dynamics of an MR damper including the eddy current effect and the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of damper material magnetization. A nonlinear differential equation that relates the input current to the damper with a constant equivalent current is proposed. The nonlinear differential equation is combined with the Maxwell Nonlinear Slider (MNS) model to create the variable current MNS model to predict the damper force under variable input current and random damper displacement loading. The model is evaluated by comparing the predicted response of a large‐scale MR damper to the measured damper response from experiments. The experiments include a real‐time hybrid simulation of a 3‐story building structure with a large‐scale MR damper subjected to the design earthquake. The exceptional agreement observed between the predicted and experimental results illustrate the robustness and the accuracy of the variable current MNS model. This paper proposes a semiactive control system to reduce the coupled lateral and torsional motions in asymmetric buildings subjected to horizontal seismic excitations. Magnetorheological (MR) dampers are applied as semiactive control devices and the control input determination is based on a clipped‐optimal control algorithm which uses absolute acceleration feedback. The performance of this method is studied experimentally using a 2‐story building model with an asymmetric stiffness distribution. An automated system identification methodology is implemented to develop a control‐oriented model which has the natural frequencies observed in the experimental system. The parameters for the MR damper model are identified using experimental data to develop an integrated model of the structure and MR dampers. To demonstrate the performance of this control system on the experimental structure, a shake table is used to reproduce an El Centro 1940 N–S earthquake as well as a random white noise excitation. The responses for the proposed control system are compared to those of passive control cases in which a constant voltage is applied to the MR damper. A tuned liquid damper (TLD), which consists of rigid tanks partially filled by liquid, is a type of passive control device relying upon liquid sloshing forces or moments to change the dynamical properties and to dissipate vibrational energy of a structure. An analytical non-linear model is proposed for a TLD using rectangular tanks filled with shallow liquid under pitching vibration, utilizing a shallow water wave theory. The model includes the linear damping of the sloshing liquid, which is an important parameter in the study of a TLD as it affects the efficiency of the TLD. Shaking table experiments were conducted for verification; good agreement between the analytical simulations and the experimental results was observed in a small excitation amplitude range. The simulations of TLD-structure interaction by using the proposed model show that the TLD can efficiently suppress resonant pitching vibration of a structure. It is also found that the effectiveness of a TLD for suppressing the pitching vibration depends not only on the mass of liquid in the TLD but also on the configuration of the liquid as well as upon the position where the TLD is located. If the configuration of the liquid, i.e. the liquid depth and the TLD tank size, is designed suitably, the TLD can have a large suppressing moment and can be very effective even with a small mass of liquid.  相似文献

In this paper, three H-control design methods are developed and applied to a three-storey building with an active mass damper as a control mechanism. The system of equations of the structural system, including the actuator and sensors, has been developed directly from experimentally derived data which forms the basis of the benchmark study discussed in this paper. The building plus the damper are modelled as a nominally linear system with input as well as state delays. Feedback control synthesis are first performed by using either of the two forms; the first is a pure state feedback and the other is a static output feedback. The analytical results are cast into a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) framework which can be solved numerically by efficient interior-point methods. The developed system is subjected to two historical earthquake excitation inputs (ElCentro and Hachinohe) and to the Kanai–Tajimi filter. The response is given in the form of indices in order to compare with other solutions of the benchmark problem. 利用形状记忆合金(SMA)的超弹性效应及高阻尼性能,结合传统Pall摩擦型阻尼器的特点,提出了一种SMA复合摩擦阻尼器。在建立阻尼器力学分析模型的基础上,对SMA复合摩擦阻尼器的性能进行了试验研究,分析了位移幅值、加载频率等对阻尼器的等效刚度、单位循环耗能和等效阻尼比的影响,并与理论分析结果进行了对比。研究表明,SMA复合摩擦阻尼器在加卸载循环下会形成比较稳定的滞回曲线,表明这种阻尼器具有良好的耗能能力。  相似文献

本文从控制装置实现角度,研究了调谐质量阻尼控制装置的关键技术,其中包括装置的支撑系统、气压弹簧和液压阻尼器。应用这些技术研究了在地王大厦安装HMD装置控制结构风振响应,解决了地王大厦在风荷载作用下总侧移和层间位移角超出我国规范限值的问题。在准确把握结构动力特性和设计准则的前提下,对控制装置的参数进行了设计。系统仿真分析表明,HMD控制装置在地王大厦上应用可以有效降低结构侧向位移。  相似文献
