The Tycho-2 proper motions and five-band Tycho-2 and 2MASS photometry for approximately 2.5 million common stars have been used to select OB stars and to determine the extinction and photometric distance for each of them. We have selected 37 485 stars and calculated their reddenings based on their positions in the two-color V T -H, J-Ks diagrams relative to the zero-age main sequence and the theoretical reddening line for B5 stars. Tests confirm that the selected stars belong to the spectral types O-B with a small admixture of later types. We calculate the extinction coefficient R and its variations with Galactic longitude based on the positions of the selected stars in the two-color B T -V T , V T -Ks diagram. The interstellar extinction for each star is calculated as the product of the reddening found and the coefficient R. The extinction and its variations with Galactic longitude agree well with the extinction based on the model by Arenou et al. (1992). Calibration of the relation between the absolute magnitude and reduced proper motion V T − + 5 + 5 log μ for Hipparcos stars has allowed us to calculate the absolute magnitudes and photometric distances for the selected stars. The distances found agree with those derived from the Hipparcos parallaxes within 500 pc. The distribution of the stars and the extinction variations with distance found show that the selected stars form an almost complete sample of stars with spectral types earlier than B5 within about 750 pc of the Sun. The sample includes many noticeably reddened stars in the first and second Galactic quadrants that are absent from the Hipparcos and Tycho Spectral Types Catalogues. This slightly changes the pattern of the distribution of OB stars compared to the classical pattern based on Hipparcos. Original Russian Text ? G.A. We have measured the interstellar extinction in the region of ultradeep Galactic-field observations by the Chandra telescope (l II, b II) ≈ 0.1–1.42 using photometric data from the 2MASS infrared allsky survey. The angular resolution of our interstellar extinction map is 1′.8. We show that the interstellar extinction has a minimum, A V ~ 3.4, near the center of the Chandra field of view and increases to A V ~ 5.8–6 at the edge of the field of view. In addition, we show that the bulk of the extinction is gained in the Galactic disk and is approximately the same for all bulge stars. Our results will be subsequently used to process the Chandra data and to estimate the properties of the stellar population in this region.  相似文献

The properties of red clump giants in the central regions of the Galactic bulge are investigated in the photometric Z and Y bands of the infrared VVV (VISTA/ESO) survey and the [3.6], [4.5], [5.8], and [8.0] μm bands of the GLIMPSE (Spitzer/IRAC) Galactic plane survey. The absolute magnitudes for objects of this class have been determined in these bands for the first time: M Z = ?0.20 ± 0.04, M Y = ?0.470 ± 0.045, M[3.6] = ?1.70 ± 0.03, M[4.5] = ?1.60 ± 0.03, M[5.8] = ?1.67 ± 0.03, and M[8.0] = ?1.70 ± 0.03. A comparison of the measured magnitudes with the predictions of theoretical models for the spectra of the objects under study has demonstrated good mutual agreement and has allowed some important constraints to be obtained for the properties of bulge red clump giants. In particular, a comparison with evolutionary tracks has shown that we are dealing predominantly with the high-metallicity subgroup of bulge red clump giants. Their metallicity is slightly higher than has been thought previously, [M/H] ? 0.40 (Z ? 0.038) with an error of [M/H] ? 0.1 dex, while the effective temperature is 4250± 150 K. Stars with an age of 9–10 Gyr are shown to dominate among the red clump giants, although some number of younger objects with an age of ~8 Gyr can also be present. In addition, the distances to several Galactic bulge regions have been measured, as D = 8200–8500 pc, and the extinction law in these directions is shown to differ noticeably from the standard one.  相似文献

To test the hypothesis about the existence of two different subsystems of novae in the Galaxy, disk and bulge novae, we have constructed the spatial distribution of 64 novae in z coordinate. A large number of fast novae, believed to be disk novae, are at a considerable distance from the Galactic plane (up to z ~ 3700 pc), which cannot be explained by the photometric measurement errors. Slow novae, believed to be bulge novae, show a higher concentration to the Galactic plane (z ? 1700 pc). The application of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test has shown that the hypothesis of two populations is valid with a probability of 95.6%.  相似文献

Based on the Gaia DR1 TGAS parallaxes and photometry from the Tycho-2, Gaia, 2MASS, andWISE catalogues, we have produced a sample of ~100 000 clump red giants within ~800 pc of the Sun. The systematic variations of the mode of their absolute magnitude as a function of the distance, magnitude, and other parameters have been analyzed. We show that these variations reach 0.7 mag and cannot be explained by variations in the interstellar extinction or intrinsic properties of stars and by selection. The only explanation seems to be a systematic error of the Gaia DR1 TGAS parallax dependent on the square of the observed distance in kpc: 0.18R 2 mas. Allowance for this error reduces significantly the systematic dependences of the absolute magnitude mode on all parameters. This error reaches 0.1 mas within 800 pc of the Sun and allows an upper limit for the accuracy of the TGAS parallaxes to be estimated as 0.2 mas. A careful allowance for such errors is needed to use clump red giants as “standard candles.” This eliminates all discrepancies between the theoretical and empirical estimates of the characteristics of these stars and allows us to obtain the first estimates of the modes of their absolute magnitudes from the Gaia parallaxes: mode(M H ) = ?1.49 m ± 0.04 m , mode(M Ks ) = ?1.63 m ± 0.03 m , mode(M W1) = ?1.67 m ± 0.05 m mode(M W2) = ?1.67 m ± 0.05 m , mode(M W3) = ?1.66 m ± 0.02 m , mode(M W4) = ?1.73 m ± 0.03 m , as well as the corresponding estimates of their de-reddened colors.  相似文献

The Tycho-2 proper motions and Tycho-2 and 2MASS photometry are used to select 97348 red giant clump (RGC) stars. The interstellar extinction and photometric distance are calculated for each of the stars. The selected stars are shown to form a selection-unbiased sample of RGC stars within about 350 pc of the Sun with the addition of more distant stars. The distribution of the selected stars in space and their motion are consistent with the assumption that the RGC contains Galactic disk stars with various ages and metallicities, including a significant fraction of stars younger than 1 Gyr with masses of more than 2M . These young stars show differences of their statistical characteristics from those of older RGC stars, including differences in the variations of their distribution density with distance from the Galactic plane and in the dispersion of their velocities found using radial velocities and proper motions. The Sun has been found to rise above the Galactic plane by 13 ± 1 pc. The distribution density of the stars under consideration in space is probably determined by the Local Spiral Arm and the distribution of absorbing matter in the plane of the Gould Belt.  相似文献

We describe Bayesian probabilistic approach to estimating the properties of stars and the interstellar extinction law based on photometric observations and using prior data about the parameters of the stars. The accuracy of the resulting estimates is analyzed in the case of SDSS and 2MASS surveys. We found that our estimates have no systematic deviations in the case of photometric accuracy typical of the surveys considered and errors of prior data of ΔT eff = ±150 K and Δlog g = ±0.5. Note that the error of the estimated interstellar extinction A 0 is of about 0. m 3, and the error of the R 0 estimate depends on extinction and is close 0.2 for moderate A0 values. The fractional error of the estimated stellar angular diameters is close to 10%. A possible application of our approach is to determine the dependence of interstellar extinction on distance using stars closely located in the same sky area.  相似文献

Data on HII regions, molecular clouds, and methanol masers have been used to estimate the Sun’s distance from the symmetry plane z and the vertical disk scale height h. Kinematic distance estimates are available for all objects in these samples. The Local-arm (Orion-arm) objects are shown to affect noticeably the pattern of the z distribution. The deviations from the distribution symmetry are particularly pronounced for the sample of masers with measured trigonometric parallaxes, where the fraction of Local-arm masers is large. The situation with the sample of HII regions in the solar neighborhood is similar. We have concluded that it is better to exclude the Local arm from consideration. Based on the model of a self-gravitating isothermal disk, we have obtained the following estimates from objects located in the inner region of the Galaxy (RR 0): z = ?5.7 ± 0.5 pc and h 2 = 24.1 ± 0.9 pc from the sample of 639 methanol masers, z = ?7.6±0.4 pc and h 2 = 28.6±0.5 pc from 878HII regions, z = ?10.1 ± 0.5 pc and h 2 = 28.2 ± 0.6 pc from 538 giant molecular clouds.  相似文献

The motions of the components of wide binary stars in the regular Galactic gravitational field on time scales ~1010 yr at various Galactocentric distances R 0 have been studied numerically. Near the Galactic center, the influence of the bar has been taken into account. The regions of restricted motions of the components in wide pairs have been found depending on the initial conditions: the magnitude of the relative velocity of the components, their mutual distance, and the inclination of the relative velocity vector to the Galactic plane. The shape and sizes of these regions are shown to depend significantly on R 0: the sizes of the region of initial conditions corresponding to restricted motions increase with R 0. Profound changes in the eccentricity of the binary orbit occur at inclinations close to 90?, which can lead to close approaches of the stars with a pericenter distance less than 1 AU. For retrograde motions (the binary rotates in a direction opposite to the Galactic rotation), there are elongated branches of the region of restricted motions in all cases, which extend at least to 10 pc in some cases.  相似文献

An improved version of the 3D stellar reddening map in a space with a radius of 1200 pc around the Sun and within 600 pc of the Galactic midplane is presented. As in the previous 2010 and 2012 versions of the map, photometry with an accuracy better than 0.05 m in the J and Ks bands for more than 70 million stars from the 2MASS catalogue is used in the new version. However, the data reduction technique is considerably more complicated. As before, an analysis of the distribution of stars near the main-sequence turnoff on the (J ? Ks)?Ks diagram, where they form a distribution maximum, provides a basis for the method. The shift of this maximum, i.e., the mode (J ? Ks), along (J ? Ks) and Ks, given the spatial variations of the mean dereddened color (J ? Ks)0 of these stars, is interpreted as a growth of the reddening with increasing distance. The main distinction of the new method is that instead of the fixed mean absolute magnitude, dereddened color, distance, and reddening for each cell, the individual values of these quantities are calculated for each star by iterations when solving the system of equations relating them. This has allowed one to increase the random accuracy of the map to 0.01 m and its spatial resolution to 20 pc in coordinates and distance and to 1° in longitude and latitude. Comparison with other reddening estimates for the same spatial cells and Gaia DR1 TGAS stars shows that the constructed map is one of the best maps for the space under consideration. Its systematic errors have been estimated to be σ(E(J ? Ks)) = 0.025 m , or σ(E(B ? V)) = 0.04 m . The main purpose of the map is to analyze the characteristics of Galactic structures, clouds, and cloud complexes. For this purpose, the reddening map within each spatial cell has also been computed by analyzing the reddening along each line of sight.  相似文献

The superfine structure of the quasar 3C 273 has been investigated at wavelengths λ = 2 and 6 cm with angular resolutions up to φ = 20 μas for epochs 2005–2014. We have identified a nozzle and a bipolar outflow: a jet and a counterjet consisting of coaxial high- and low-velocity components. The separation between the nozzles in the plane of the sky is Δρ = 0.84 ± 0.16 pc; the flow ejection velocity is v ≤ 0.1c. The nozzle brightness temperature reaches T b ≈ 45 × 1012 K, φ = 20 μas, λ = 2 cm. The ejected electrons radiatively cool at a distance up to ≤4 pc. However, the jet afterglow is observed at a 8% level at a distance up to ρ ≈ 16 pc; the acceleration compensates for the radiative losses. The reduction in the emission level of the central flow at large distances determines the jet bifurcation. The counterjet shape is a mirror reflection of the initial part of the jet, suggesting a symmetry and identity of the ejected flows. The counterjet and jet nozzles are in the near and remote parts of the active region, respectively. The emission from the nozzles is absorbed by a factor of 2 and 15, respectively. The absorption decreases with increasing distance and the brightness of the jet fragments rises to its maximum at 0.5 pc from the nozzle. Arclike structures, arm fragments, are observed in the region of the nozzles. The relativistic plasma comes to the nozzles and is ejected. The brightness temperature of the arclike structures reaches 10% of the peak value, which is determined by the a smaller optical depth, the visibility in the transverse direction. The central high-velocity flow is surrounded by low-velocity components, hollow tubes being ejected as an excess angular momentum is accumulated. The remainder of the material flows along the arms toward the disk center until the next accumulation of an excess angular momentum and the process is repeated. The diameter of the outer nozzle is Ø = 25 pc and, further out, decreases exponentially; Ø n ≈ 80 exp(?1.15n) pc. The flow kinematics, collimation, and acceleration have a vortical nature. Ring currents producing magnetic fields, which accelerate and stabilize the processes, are generated in the rotating flows (tubes). The tangential directions of the currents are observed as parallel chains of components.  相似文献

We have obtained new estimates of the Sun’s distance from the symmetry plane Z and the vertical disk scale height h using currently available data on stellar OB associations, Wolf–Rayet stars, HII regions, and Cepheids. Based on individual determinations, we have calculated the mean Z = ?16 ± 2 pc. Based on the model of a self-gravitating isothermal disk for the density distribution, we have found the following vertical disk scale heights: h = 40.2 ± 2.1 pc from OB associations, h = 47.8 ± 3.9 pc from Wolf–Rayet stars, h = 48.4 ± 2.5 pc from HII regions, and h = 66.2 ± 1.6 pc from Cepheids. We have estimated the surface, Σ = 6 kpc?2, and volume, D(Z ) = 50.6 kpc?3, densities from a sample of OB associations. We have found that there could be ~5000 OB associations in the Galaxy.  相似文献

We have studied the simultaneous and separate solutions of the basic kinematic equations obtained using the stellar velocities calculated on the basis of data from the Gaia TGAS and RAVE5 catalogues. By comparing the values of Ω'0 found by separately analyzing only the line-of-sight velocities of stars and only their proper motions, we have determined the distance scale correction factor p to be close to unity, 0.97 ± 0.04. Based on the proper motions of stars from the Gaia TGAS catalogue with relative trigonometric parallax errors less than 10% (they are at a mean distance of 226 pc), we have found the components of the group velocity vector for the sample stars relative to the Sun (U, V,W) = (9.28, 20.35, 7.36) ± (0.05, 0.07, 0.05) km s?1, the angular velocity of Galactic rotation Ω0 = 27.24 ± 0.30 km s?1 kpc?1, and its first derivative Ω'0 = ?3.77 ± 0.06 km s?1 kpc?2; here, the circular rotation velocity of the Sun around the Galactic center is V0 = 218 ± 6 km s?1 kpc (for the adopted distance R0 = 8.0 ± 0.2 kpc), while the Oort constants are A = 15.07 ± 0.25 km s?1 kpc?1 and B = ?12.17 ± 0.39 km s?1 kpc?1, p = 0.98 ± 0.08. The kinematics of Gaia TGAS stars with parallax errors more than 10% has been studied by invoking the distances from a paper by Astraatmadja and Bailer-Jones that were corrected for the Lutz–Kelker bias. We show that the second derivative of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation Ω'0 = 0.864 ± 0.021 km s?1 kpc?3 is well determined from stars at a mean distance of 537 pc. On the whole, we have found that the distances of stars from the Gaia TGAS catalogue calculated using their trigonometric parallaxes do not require any additional correction factor.  相似文献

Based on high-latitude molecular clouds with highly accurate distance estimates taken from the literature, we have redetermined the parameters of their spatial orientation. This systemcan be approximated by a 350 × 235 × 140 pc ellipsoid inclined by the angle i = 17° ± 2° to the Galactic plane with the longitude of the ascending node l Ω = 337° ± 1°. Based on the radial velocities of the clouds, we have found their group velocity relative to the Sun to be (u 0, v 0, w 0) = (10.6, 18.2, 6.8) ± (0.9, 1.7, 1.5) km s?1. The trajectory of the center of the molecular cloud system in the past in a time interval of ~60 Myr has been constructed. Using data on masers associated with low-mass protostars, we have calculated the space velocities of the molecular complexes in Orion, Taurus, Perseus, and Ophiuchus. Their motion in the past is shown to be not random.  相似文献

The catalogue of protoplanetary nebulae by Vickers et al. has been supplemented with the line-of-sight velocities and proper motions of their central stars from the literature. Based on an exponential density distribution, we have estimated the vertical scale height from objects with an age less than 3 Gyr belonging to the Galactic thin disk (luminosities higher than 5000 L ) to be h = 146 ± 15 pc, while from a sample of older objects (luminosities lower than 5000 L ) it is h = 568 ± 42 pc. We have produced a list of 147 nebulae in which there are only the line-of-sight velocities for 55 nebulae, only the proper motions for 25 nebulae, and both line-of-sight velocities and proper motions for 67 nebulae. Based on this kinematic sample, we have estimated the Galactic rotation parameters and the residual velocity dispersions of protoplanetary nebulae as a function of their age. We have established that there is a good correlation between the kinematic properties of nebulae and their separation in luminosity proposed by Vickers. Most of the nebulae are shown to be involved in the Galactic rotation, with the circular rotation velocity at the solar distance being V 0 = 227 ± 23 km s?1. The following principal semiaxes of the residual velocity dispersion ellipsoid have been found: (σ1, σ2, σ3) = (47, 41, 29) km s?1 from a sample of young protoplanetary nebulae (with luminosities higher than 5000 L ), (σ1, σ2, σ3) = (50, 38, 28) km s?1 from a sample of older protoplanetary nebulae (with luminosities of 4000 L or 3500 L ), and (σ1, σ2, σ3) = (91, 49, 36) km s?1 from a sample of halo nebulae (with luminosities of 1700 L ).  相似文献

Parallaxes with an accuracy better than 10% and proper motions from the Gaia DR1 TGAS catalogue, radial velocities from the Pulkovo Compilation of Radial Velocities (PCRV), accurate Tycho-2 photometry, theoretical PARSEC, MIST, YaPSI, BaSTI isochrones, and the most accurate reddening and interstellar extinction estimates have been used to analyze the kinematics of 9543 thin-disk B-F stars as a function of their dereddened color. The stars under consideration are located on the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram relative to the isochrones with an accuracy of a few hundredths of a magnitude, i.e., at the level of uncertainty in the parallax, photometry, reddening, extinction, and the isochrones themselves. This has allowed us to choose the most plausible reddening and extinction estimates and to conclude that the reddening and extinction were significantly underestimated in some kinematic studies of other authors. Owing to the higher accuracy of TGAS parallaxes than that of Hipparcos ones, the median accuracy of the velocity components U, V, W in this study has improved to 1.7 km s?1, although outside the range ?0.1 m < (B T ? V T )0 < 0.5 m the kinematic characteristics are noticeably biased due to the incompleteness of the sample. We have confirmed the variations in the mean velocity of stars relative to the Sun and the stellar velocity dispersion as a function of their dereddened color known from the Hipparcos data. Given the age estimates for the stars under consideration from the TRILEGAL model and the Geneva–Copenhagen survey, these variations may be considered as variations as a function of the stellar age. A comparison of our results with the results of other studies of the stellar kinematics near the Sun has shown that selection and reddening underestimation explain almost completely the discrepancies between the results. The dispersions and mean velocities from the results of reliable studies fit into a ±2 km s?1 corridor, while the ratios σ V /σ U and σ W /σ U fit into ±0.05. Based on all reliable studies in the range ?0.1 m < (B T ? V T )0 < 0.5m, i.e., for an age from 0.23 to 2.4 Gyr, we have found: W = 7.15 km s?1, \({\sigma _U} = 16.0{e^{1.29({B_T} - {V_T})o}}\), \({\sigma _V} = 10.9{e^{1.11({B_T} - {V_T})o}}\), \({\sigma _W} = 6.8{e^{1.46({B_T} - {V_T})o}}\), the stellar velocity dispersions in km s?1 are proportional to the age in Gyr raised to the power β U = 0.33, β V = 0.285, and β W = 0.37.  相似文献

We have selected and analyzed a sample of OB stars with known line-of-sight velocities determined through ground-based observations and with trigonometric parallaxes and propermotions from the Gaia DR2 catalogue. Some of the stars in our sample have distance estimates made from calcium lines. A direct comparison with the trigonometric distance scale has shown that the calcium distance scale should be reduced by 13%. The following parameters of the Galactic rotation curve have been determined from 495 OB stars with relative parallax errors less than 30%: (U, V,W) = (8.16, 11.19, 8.55)± (0.48, 0.56, 0.48) km s?1, Ω0 = 28.92 ± 0.39 km s?1 kpc?1, Ω'0 = ?4.087 ± 0.083 km s?1 kpc?2, and Ω″ 0 = 0.703 ± 0.067 km s?1 kpc?3, where the circular velocity of the local standard of rest is V0 = 231 ± 5 km s?1 (for the adopted R0 = 8.0 ± 0.15 kpc). The parameters of the Galactic spiral density wave have been found from the series of radial, VR, residual tangential, ΔVcirc, and vertical, W, velocities of OB stars by applying a periodogram analysis. The amplitudes of the radial, tangential, and vertical velocity perturbations are fR = 7.1± 0.3 km s?1, fθ = 6.5 ± 0.4 km s?1, and fW = 4.8± 0.8 km s?1, respectively; the perturbation wavelengths are λR = 3.3 ± 0.1 kpc, λθ = 2.3 ± 0.2 kpc, and λW = 2.6 ± 0.5 kpc; and the Sun’s radial phase in the spiral density wave is (χ)R = ?135? ± 5?, (χ)θ = ?123? ± 8?, and (χ)W = ?132? ± 21? for the adopted four-armed spiral pattern.  相似文献

The feasibility of the determination of the physical conditions in star’s atmosphere and the parameters of interstellar extinction from broad-band photometric observations in the 300–3000 nm wavelength interval is studied using SDSS and 2MASS data. The photometric accuracy of these surveys is shown to be insufficient for achieving in practice the theoretical possibility of estimating the atmospheric parameters of stars based on ugriz and JHKs photometry exclusively because such determinations result in correlations between the temperature and extinction estimates. The uncertainty of interstellar extinction estimates can be reduced if prior data about the temperature are available. The surveys considered can nevertheless be potentially valuable sources of information about both stellar atmospheric parameters and the interstellar medium.  相似文献

We determine the color excesses, photometric distances, ages, astrometric parallaxes and proper motions for 94 open clusters in the northern part of the Milky Way. We estimate the color excesses and photometric distances based on the data from IPHAS photometric survey of the northern Galactic plane using individual total-to-selective extinction ratios Rr = Ar/Er?i for each cluster computed via the color-difference method based on IPHAS r, i, and Hα-band, 2MASS J-, H-, and Ks-band, WISE W1-band, and Pan-STARRS i-, z-, and y-band data. The inferred Rr values vary significantly from cluster to cluster spanning the Rr = 3.1–5.2 interval with a mean and standard deviation equal to 〈Rr〉 = 3.99 and σRr = 0.34, respectively. We identified cluster members using (1) absolute proper motions determined from individual-epoch positions of stars retrieved from IPHAS, 2MASS,URAT1, ALLWISE,UCAC5, and Gaia DR1 catalogs and positions of stars on individual Palomar Sky Survey plates reconstructed based on the data provided in USNO-B1.0 catalog and (2) absolute proper motions provided in Gaia DR2 catalog, and computed the averageGaia DR2 trigonometric parallaxes and propermotions of the clusters. Themean formal error of the inferred astrometric parallaxes of clusters is of about 7 μas, however, a comparison of astrometric and photometric parallaxes of our cluster sample implies that Gaia DR2 parallaxes are, on the average, systematically underestimated by 45 ± 9 μas. This result agrees with estimates obtained by other authors using other objects. At the same time, we find our photometric distance scale to be correct within the quoted errors (the inferred correction factor is equal to unity to within a standard error of 0.025).  相似文献
