We obtained constraints on the luminosity of the central source in SNR 1987 A using XMM-Newton and INTEGRAL data. XMM-Newton yields an upper limit on the SNR luminosity in the 2–10 keV energy band, LX ? 5 × 1034 erg s?1. Since the optical depth of the envelope is still large in the XMM-Newton energy band, this constraint carries no useful information about the luminosity of the central source. The optical depth is expected to be small in the hard (20–200 keV) X-ray band of the IBIS telescope aboard the INTEGRAL observatory. We detected no statistically significant emission from SNR 1987 A in the INTEGRAL data and obtained an upper limit of LX ? 1.1 × 1036 erg s?1 on the luminosity of the central source in the 20–60 keV band. We also obtained an upper limit on the mass of radioactive 44Ti, M(44Ti) ? 10?3M.  相似文献

We analyze the statistical properties of normal galaxies to be detected in the all-sky survey by the eROSITA X-ray telescope of the Spectrum-X-Gamma observatory. With the current configuration and parameters of the eROSITA telescope, the sensitivity of a 4-year-long all-sky survey will be ≈10?14 erg s?1 in the 0.5–2 keV band. This will allow ~(1.5–2) × 104 normal galaxies with approximately the same contribution of star-forming and elliptical galaxies to be detected. All galaxies of the X-ray survey are expected to enter into the existing far-infrared (IRAS) or near-infrared (2MASS) catalogs; the sample of star-forming galaxies will be approximately equivalent in sensitivity to the sample of star-forming galaxies in the IRAS catalog of infrared sources. Thus, a large homogeneous sample of normal galaxies with measured X-ray, near-infrared, and far-infrared fluxes will be formed. About 90% of the galaxies in the survey are located within ~200–400 Mpc. A typical (most probable) galaxy will have a luminosity log L X ~ 40.5–41.0, will be located at a distance of ~70–90 Mpc, and will be either a star-forming galaxy with a star formation rate of ~20M yr?1 whose X-ray emission is produced by ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) or an elliptical galaxy with amass log M * ~ 11.3 emitting through to a hot interstellar gas. The galaxies within 35 Mpc will collectively contain ~102 ULXs with luminosities log L X > 40, ~80% of whichwill be the only luminous source in the galaxy. Thus, although the angular resolution of the eROSITA telescope is too low for the luminosity function of compact sources in galaxies to be studied in detail, the survey data will allow one to investigate its bright end and, possibly, to impose constraints on the maximum luminosity of ULXs.  相似文献

HD 10009 is a spectroscopic and speckle interferometric binary with almost identical solar-type components. It was studied via speckle interferometry using the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences and had its spectrophotometry performed in the 3500–9600 Å wavelength interval with the 2-m telescope of the Terskol Branch of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A detailed analysis of the atmosphere of the primary component (component 1) of the binary yielded the abundances of some of the elements. The luminosities and temperatures of the components are found to be L 1= 2.9 L , L 2= 1.0 L and T eff1=6017 K, T eff2=5930 K, respectively. The iron abundance is [Fe]=?0.27±0.05. Our results make it possible to assess the evolutionary status of the system. The binary is 7.9 Gyr old and the primary component is close to become a red giant, whereas the secondary component is still in the hydrogen-burning stage near the main sequence.  相似文献

Here we present the results of panoramic and long-slit observations of eight ULX nebular counterparts performed with the 6m SAO telescope. In two ULX nebulae (ULXNe) we detected for the first time signatures of high excitation ([O III]λ5007 / Hβ > 5). Two of the ULXs were identified with young (T ~ 5–10 Myr) massive star clusters. Four of the eight ULXNe show bright high-excitation lines. This requires existence of luminous (~ 1038 ÷ 1040 erg s?1) UV/EUV sources coinciding with the X-ray sources. The other 4 ULXNe require shock excitation of the gas with shock velocities of 20–100 km s ?1. However, all the studied ULXNe spectra show signatures of shock excitation, but even those ULXNe where the shocks are prevailing show presence of a hard ionizing source with a luminosity of at least ~ 1038 erg s?1. Most likely shock waves, X-ray and EUV ionization act simultaneously in all the ULXNe, but they may be roughly separated in two groups: shock-dominated and photoionization-dominated ULXNe. The ULXs have to produce strong winds and/or jets (~ 1039 erg s?1) for powering their nebulae. Both the wind/jet activity and the existence of a bright UV source are consistent with the suggestion that ULXs are high-mass X-ray binaries with supercritical accretion disks of the SS433 type.  相似文献

We report the results of the study of red-sequence (RS) galaxies in 47 galaxy clusters (0.023 < z < 0.047) located in different environments: in the superclusters Hercules and Leo, and in the field, based on the SDSS catalog data. In the
interval, the number of bright RS dwarf galaxies in galaxy clusters increaseswith the X-ray luminosity of the cluster as logN ∝ log X 0.64 . The dwarf-to-giant ratio (DGR) does not depend on the surroundings, mass, or richness of the cluster. This ratio is seen to increase for galaxy clusters with log L X > 43.5 erg/s or σ > 520 km/s. The compositeDGR of galaxy clusters, determined both from the membership in different structures and the X-ray luminosity along the radius R 200, is minimum in the central regions of the clusters (about 0.6 ± 0.06), reaches a maximum within 0.3–0.9R 200 (about 0.9 ± 0.10), and decreases approximately to 0.7 ± 0.03 upon reaching the radius 1.4 R 200.

Using a reliablymeasured intrinsic (i.e., corrected for absorption effects) present-day luminosity function of high-mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs) in the 0.25–2 keV energy band per unit star formation rate, we estimate the preheating of the early Universe by soft X-rays from such systems. We find that X-ray irradiation, mainly executed by ultraluminous and supersoft ultraluminous X-ray sources with luminosity L X > 1039 erg s?1, could significantly heat (T >T CMB, where T CMB is the temperature of the cosmic microwave background) the intergalactic medium by z ~ 10 if the specific X-ray emissivity of the young stellar population in the early Universe was an order of magnitude higher than at the present epoch (which is possible due to the low metallicity of the first galaxies) and the soft X-ray emission from HMXBs did not suffer strong absorption within their galaxies. This makes it possible to observe the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen in emission from redshifts z < 10.  相似文献

We describe the design of a suspended low- and medium-resolution spectrograph (R ≈ 300–1300) designed and made at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the 1.6-m AZT-33IK telescope of Sayan Observatory of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. We report the results of laboratory measurements of the parameters of the instrument and tests performed on the 1-m Zeiss-1000 telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. We measured the total quantum efficiency of the “spectrograph + telescope + detector” system on AZT-33IK telescope, which at its maximum reaches 56%. Such a hight transparency of the spectrograph allows it to be used with the 1.6-m telescope to determine the types and redshifts of objects with integrated magnitudes mAB ≈ 20–21, and this result was confirmed by actual observations.  相似文献

We present the results of spectroscopic redshift measurements for the galaxy clusters from the first all-sky Planck catalogue that have been mostly identified based on the optical observations performed previously by our team (Planck Collaboration 2015a). Data on 13 galaxy clusters at redshifts from z ≈ 0.2 to z ≈ 0.8, including the improved identification and redshift measurement for the cluster PSZ1 G141.73+14.22 at z = 0.828, are provided. We have performed the measurements based on data from the Russian–Turkish 1.5-m telescope (RTT-150), the 2.2-m Calar Alto Observatory telescope, and the 6-m SAO RAS telescope (Bolshoy Teleskop Azimutalnyi, BTA).  相似文献

The X-ray luminosity function of distant (3 < z < 5.1) type 1 quasars has been measured. A sample of distant high-luminosity (1045 erg s?1LX,2?10 < 7.5×1045 erg s?1 in the 2–10 keV energy band) quasars from the catalog by Khorunzhev et al. (2016) compiled from the data of the 3XMM-DR4 catalog of the XMM-Newton serendipitous survey and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) has been used. This sample consists of 101 sources. Most of them (90) have spectroscopic redshifts zspec ? 3; the remaining ones are quasar candidates with photometric redshift estimates zphot ? 3. The spectroscopic redshifts of eight sources have been measured with the BTA and AZT-33IK telescopes. Owing to the record sky coverage area (?250 sq. deg at X-ray fluxes ~10?14 erg s?1 cm?2 in the 0.5–2 keVband) from which the sample was drawn, we have managed to obtain reliable estimates of the space density of distant X-ray quasars with luminosities LX,2?10 > 2×1045 erg s?1 for the first time. Their comoving space density remains constant as the redshift increases from z = 3 to 5 to within a factor of 2. The power-law slope of the X-ray luminosity function of distant quasars at its bright end (above the break) has been reliably constrained for the first time. The range of possible slopes for the quasar luminosity and density evolution model is γ2 = 2.72 ?0.12 +0.19 ± 0.21, where initially the lower and upper boundaries of γ2 with the remaining uncertainty in the detection completeness of X-ray sources in SDSS and subsequently the statistical error of the slope are specified.  相似文献

Based on data from the Two-Micrometer All-Sky Survey (2MASS), we analyzed the infrared properties of 451 Local-Volume galaxies at distances D ≤ 10 Mpc. We determined the K-band luminosity function of the galaxies in the range of absolute magnitudes from ?25m to ?11m. The local luminosity density within 8 Mpc is 6.8 × 108L Mpc?3, a factor of 1.5 ± 0.1 higher than the global mean K-band luminosity density. We determined the ratios of the virial mass to the K-band luminosity for nearby groups and clusters of galaxies. In the luminosity range from 5 × 1010 to 2 × 1013L, the dependence log(M/LK) ∝ (0.27 ± 0.03) log LK with a dispersion of ~0.1 comparable to the measurement errors of the masses and luminosities of the systems of galaxies holds for the groups and clusters of galaxies. The ensemble-averaged ratio, 〈M/LK〉 ? (20–25) M/L, was found to be much smaller than the expected global ratio, (80–90)M/L, in the standard model with Ωm = 0.27. This discrepancy can be eliminated if the bulk of the dark matter in the Universe is not associated with galaxies and their systems.  相似文献

The strongest absorption features with the lower-level excitation potentials χ low < 1 eV are found to be split in the high-resolution optical spectra of the post-AGB star V354 Lac taken in 2007–2008 with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Main parameters, T eff =5650 K, log g=0.2, ξ t =5.0 km/s, and the abundances of 22 chemical elements in the star’s atmosphere are found. The overabundance of the s-process chemical elements (Ba, La, Ce, Nd) in the star’s atmosphere is partly due to the splitting of strong lines of the ions of thesemetals. The peculiarities of the spectrum in the wavelength interval containing the LiI λ 6707 Å line can be naturally explained only by taking the overabundances of the CeII and SmII heavy-metal ions into account. The best agreement with the synthetic spectrum is achieved assuming ?(LiI)=2.0, ?(CeII)=3.2, and ?(SmII)=2.7. The velocity field both in the atmosphere and in the circumstellar envelope of V354 Lac remained stationary throughout the last 15 years of our observations.  相似文献

We present the results of our spectroscopic and morphological studies of the galaxy UGC 7388 with the 8.1-m Gemini North telescope. Judging by its observed characteristics, UGC 7388 is a giant late-type spiral galaxy seen nearly edge-on. The main body of the galaxy is surrounded by two faint (μ B ~ 24 m /□″ and μ B ~ 25 · m 5/□″) extended (~ 20–30 kpc) loop-like structures. A large-scale rotation of the brighter loop about the main galaxy has been detected. We discuss the assumption that the tidal disruption of a relatively massive companion is observed in the case of UGC 7388. A detailed study and modeling of the observed structure of this unique galaxy can give important information about the influence of the absorption of massive companions on the galactic disks and about the structure of the dark halo around UGC 7388.  相似文献

During the GRIF experiment onboard the Mir orbiting station, the sky was monitored with a PX-2 wide-field (~1 sr) scintillation X-ray spectrometer to detect bursts in the photon energy range 10–300 keV. Because of the comprehensive instrumentation, which, apart from the X-ray and gamma-ray instruments, also included charged-particle detectors, the imitations of astrophysical bursts by magnetospheric electron precipitations and strongly ionizing nuclei were effectively filtered out. It was also possible to separate solar and atmospheric events. Several tens of bursts interpreted as being astrophysical were detected in the experiment at sensitivity levels S~10?7 erg cm?2 (for bursts whose spectra were characterized by effective temperatures kT~100 keV) and S~3×10?8 erg cm?2 (for bursts with kT~25 keV). Some of the soft gamma-ray or hard X-ray bursts with kT~10–50 keV were identified with the bursting pulsar GRO J1744-28. Our estimate of the detection rate for cosmological soft gamma-ray or hard X-ray bursts from the entire sky suggests that the distributions of long-duration (>1 s) gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) in characteristic energy kT and duration are inconsistent with the steady-state cosmological model in which the evolution of burst sources is disregarded. Based on GRIF and BATSE/CGRO data, we conclude that most of the GRB sources originate at redshifts 1<z<5.  相似文献

We analyze the structure of the cluster of galaxies Abell 1775 (α = 13 h 42 m , δ = +26°22′, cz ≈ 21000 km/s), which exhibits a bimodal distribution of radial velocities of the containing galaxies. The difference of the subcluster radial velocities is ΔV ≈ 2900 km/s. We use the results of our photometric observations made with the 1-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the spectroscopic and photometric data from the SDSS DR6 catalog to determine independent distances to the subclusters via three different methods: the Kormendy relation, photometric plane, and fundamental plane. We find that the A1775 cluster consists of two independent clusters, A1775A (cz = 19664 km/s) and A1775B (cz = 22576 km/s), each located at its own Hubble distance and having small peculiar velocities. Given the velocity dispersions of 324 km/s and 581 km/s and the dynamic masses within the R 200 radius equal to 0.6 × 1014 and 3.3 × 1014 M , the A1775A and A1775B clusters have the K-band luminosity-to-mass ratios of 29 and 61, respectively. A radio galaxy with an extended tail belongs to the A1775B cluster.  相似文献

Based on observations of SN 1999em, we determined the physical parameters of this supernova using hydrodynamic calculations including nonequilibrium radiative transfer. Taking the distance to SN 1999em estimated by the expanding photosphere method (EPM) to be D = 7.5 Mpc, we found the parameters of the presupernova: radius R = 450R, mass M = 15M, and explosion energy E = 7 × 1050 erg. For the distance D = 12 Mpc determined from Cepheids, R, M, and E must be increased to the following values: R = 1000R, M = 18M, and E = 1051 erg. We show that one cannot restrict oneself to using the simple analytical formulas relating the supernova and presupernova parameters to obtain reliable parameters for type-IIP presupernovae.  相似文献

In 2013–2015 the Laboratory of spectroscopy and photometry of extragalactic objects (LS-PEO) of the Special Astrophysical Observatory together with Armenian specialists upgraded the 1-m Schmidt telescope of the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. We completely redesigned the control system of the telescope: we replaced the actuating mechanisms, developed telescope control software, and made the guiding system. We reworked and prepared a 4k × 4k Apogee (USA) liquid-cooled CCD with RON ~ 11.1 e?, a pixel size of 0.″868, and field of view of about 1□°, and in October 2015 mounted it in the focus of the telescope. The detector is equipped with a turret bearing 20 intermediate-band filters (FWHM = 250 Å) uniformly covering the 4000–9000 Å wavelength range, five broadband filters (u, g, r, i, z SDSS), and three narrow-band filters (5000 Å, 6560 Å and 6760 Å, FWHM = 100 Å). During the first year of test operation of the 1-m telescope we performed pilot observations within the framework of three programs: search for young stellar objects, AGNevolution, and stellar composition of galaxy disks. We confirmed the possibility of efficiently selecting of young objects using observations performed in narrow-band Hα and [SII] filters and the intermediate-band 7500 Å filter. Three-hours long exposures with SDSS g-, r-, and i-band filters allow us to reach the surface brightness level of 28m/□″ when investigating the stellar content of galaxy disks for a sample of nine galaxies. We used observations performed with the 1-m telescope in five broadband (SDSS u, g, r, i, and z) and 15 intermediate-band filters (4000–7500 Å) to construct a sample of quasar candidates with 0.5 < z < 5 (330 objects) in about one-sq. degree SA68 field complete down to RAB = 23m. Spectroscopic observations of 29 objects (19.m5 < R < 22m) carried out at the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences confirmed the quasar nature of 28 objects.  相似文献

Based on our UBV RI observations and X-ray data from the RXTE satellite, we have investigated the variability of the galaxy 3C 120 over the period 1996–2008. The relative variability amplitude in the U and B bands without any subtraction of the contribution from the underlying galaxy is 23 and 22%, respectively, against 21% in the X-ray band. The autocorrelation function based on the B-band data is considerably wider than that based on the X-ray data. The structure functions on a time scale from 1 to ~100–300 days in the X-ray and optical spectral ranges have the form of a power law (SFτ b ). However, their indices differ significantly: b = 0.42 in the X-ray band and b = 1.36 in the B band. Considering the X-ray and optical variabilities as a superposition of independent flares in a wide range of durations, we may conclude that the amplitudes of short flares in the X-ray band are higher than those in the optical one and, conversely, the relative amplitudes of long flares in the X-ray band are slightly lower than those in the optical one, i.e., short events dominate in the X-ray band. The optical flux variations in the R c and I c bands lag significantly behind those in the B band, by 3.9 ?0.7 +1.0 and 6.2 ?0.6 +1.1 days, respectively, if the lag is estimated from the centroid of the cross-correlation function. The X-ray variability on a time scale of about 1800 days (~5 yr) lags behind the B-band variations by 5.3 ?3.3 +2.7 days, but the confidence level of this estimate is only 87%. A more detailed analysis of the correlation between the X-ray and optical emissions has revealed a fairly complex picture: different degrees of correlation between the optical and X-ray fluxes are observed at different times.  相似文献

We have analyzed the optical (U BV) and ultraviolet (λ1000–2700 Å) observations of the nuclear variability of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 4151 in the period 1987–2001 (the second cycle of activity). The fast (tens of days) and slow (~10 years) components of the nuclear variability, F and S, respectively, are shown to be completely different, but thermal in nature. We associate the S component with the formation and evolution of an accretion disk and the F component (flares) with instabilities in the accretion disk and their propagation over the disk in the form of a shock wave. The S component is present not only in the optical, but also in the ultraviolet range, with its amplitude being comparable over the entire range λ1000–5500 Å under study. The amplitude of the average flare (the F component) doubles as the wavelength decreases from 5500 to 1000 Å, while the rise time of the brightness to its maximum Δt (the variability time scale) decreases from
to 6d ± 2d. The brightness decline (flare decay) time decreases by a factor of 16. The extinction in the ultraviolet is shown to have been grossly underestimated: beginning from the first IUE data, only the extinction in our Galaxy,
, has been taken into account. A proper allowance for the total extinction, i.e., for the extinction in the nucleus of NGC 4151 as well
leads to a large increase in the luminosity of the variable source in the nucleus of NGC 4151: L = (6–8) × 1046 erg s?1. The spectral energy distribution for the variable source (λ950–5500 Å) agrees well with two Planck distributions: Te = 65 000 (λmax = 450 Å) and 8000 K. The radiation with Te = 8000 K is the reprocessing of the bulk of the ultraviolet radiation by the accretion disk with a lag of 0.5–0.6 days in the V band. The lag in the U-B variability of the slow component revealed the existence of an extended broad line region (EBLR) at an effective distance of 1.5 lt-years, as confirmed by spectroscopic data obtained at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. This yields the following mass of the central object in NGC 4151: Mc = (1–3) × 109M. The luminosity of the variable source then accounts for 50–60% of LEdd rather than 1–2%, as has been thought previously. In general, the pattern of ultraviolet and optical variability in NGC 4151 agrees excellently with the theory of disk accretion instability for a supermassive black hole suggested by N. Shakura and R. Sunyaev 30 years ago: the energy release is at a maximumin the ultraviolet (in the case under consideration, at λ450 Å), the luminosity is ~1047 erg s?1 for Mc ~ 109M (several tens of percent of LEdd), and the variability time scale ranges from several days to many years.

The spectra taken with the Main Stellar Spectrograph (MSS) of the 6-m telescope with a resolution of R ~ 15000 and a signal-to-noise ratio of 200–300 are used to determine the radial velocities and projected rotational velocities (υ e sin i) for 32 magnetic CP stars. Measured υ e sin i values range from 18 km/s (the lower boundary determined by the instrumental profile) to 65 km/s. Measurements of standard stars demonstrate the absence of systematic differences between our and published data. Eight of the 32 magnetic stars are found or confirmed to be binary and binarity is suspected for another four stars. The components of tangential velocity are determined for 27 stars with known parallaxes.  相似文献

One of the goals of the Pulkovo program of research on stars with large proper motions is to reveal among the low-luminosity stars those that have evidence of binarity. Twelve astrometric binary candidates from the Pulkovo list have been included in the program of speckle observations with the BTA telescope at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS) and the 2.5-m telescope at the Caucasus Observatory (CO) of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute of the Moscow State University to confirm their binarity and then to determine the parameters of the revealed stellar pairs. The binarity of the brightest of these stars, J1158+4239 (GJ 3697), has been confirmed. Four sessions of speckle observations with the BTA SAO RAS telescope and one session with the 2.5-m CO telescope have been carried out in 2015–2016. The weighted mean estimates of the pair parameters are ρ = 286.5 ± 1.2 mas and θ = 230.24? ± 0.16? at the epoch B2015.88248. The magnitude difference between the pair stars is Δm = 0.55 ± 0.03 (a filter with a central wavelength of 800 nm and a FWHM of 100 nm) and Δm = 0.9 ± 0.1 (an R filter).  相似文献
