This paper presents a digital linear filter which maps composite resistivity transforms to apparent resistivities for any four—electrode array over a horizontally layered earth. A filter is provided for each of three sampling rates; the choice of filter will depend on resistivity contrasts and computational facilities. Two methods of filter design are compared. The Wiener-Hopf least-squares method is preferable for low sampling rate filters. The Fourier transform method is more successful in producing a filter with a high sampling rate which can handle resistivity contrasts of 100 000: 1.  相似文献

This paper describes certain procedures for deriving from the apparent resistivity data as measured by the Wenner electrode configuration two functions, known as the kernel and the associated kernel respectively, both of which are functions dependent on the layer resistivities and thicknesses. It is shown that the solution of the integral equation for the Wenner electrode configuration leads directly to the associated kernel, from which an integral expression expressing the kernel explicitly in terms of the apparent resistivity function can be derived. The kernel is related to the associated kernel by a simple functional equation where K1(λ) is the kernel and B1(λ) the associated kernel. Composite numerical quadrature formulas and also integration formulas based on partial approximation of the integrand by a parabolic arc within a small interval are developed for the calculation of the kernel and the associated kernel from apparent resistivity data. Both techniques of integration require knowledge of the values of the apparent resistivity function at points lying between the input data points. It is shown that such unknown values of the apparent resistivity function can satisfactorily be obtained by interpolation using the least-squares method. The least-squares method involves the approximation of the observed set of apparent resistivity data by orthogonal polynomials generated by Forsythe's method (Forsythe 1956). Values of the kernel and of the associated kernel obtained by numerical integration compare favourably with the corresponding theoretical values of these functions.  相似文献

Analytical solutions of vertical electrical soundings (VES) have mostly been applied to groundwater exploration and monitoring groundwater quality on terrains of fairly simple geology and geomorphology on which the electrode arrays are symmetrical (e.g. Schlumberger or Wenner configurations). The sounding interpretation assumes flat topography and horizontally stratified layers. Any deviations from these simple situations may be impossible to interpret analytically. The recently developed GEA-58 geoelectrical instrument can make continuous soundings along a profile with any colinear electrode configuration. This paper describes the use of finite-difference and finite-element methods to model complex earth resistivity distributions in 2D, in order to calculate apparent resistivity responses to any colinear current electrode distribution in terrains in which the earth resistivities do not vary along the strike. The numerical model results for simple situations are compared with the analytical solutions. In addition, a pseudo-depth section of apparent resistivities measured in the field with the GEA-58 is compared with the numerical solution of a real complex resistivity distribution along a cross-section. The model results show excellent agreement with the corresponding analytical and experimental data.  相似文献

Different sets of filter coefficients for the linear filter technique for the computations of resistivity and EM sounding curves are evaluated for several electrode and coil configurations. Instead of this procedure, the two-electrode filter can be used for computations of Wenner, Schlumberger, and dipole—dipole apparent resistivity model curves by defining convolutional expressions which contain the new input functions in terms of the resistivity transform function. Similarly, the Schlumberger filter performs the computations of dipole—dipole apparent resistivity model curves. The Wenner, Schlumberger, and dipole—dipole filter functions are defined in terms of the two-electrode filter using the new convolutional expressions. A relationship between the Schlumberger and dipole—dipole filter functions is given. The above arguments are adopted for the computations of EM sounding curves. It is shown that the EM filter for the horizontal coplanar loop system (which is identical to the two-electrode filter) performs the computations of the mutual coupling ratios for perpendicular, vertical coplanar, and vertical coaxial loop systems. In the same way, the Schlumberger filter can be used to compute vertical coaxial sounding curves. The corresponding input functions are defined in terms of the EM kernel for all convolutional expressions presented. After these considerations, integral expressions of the mutual coupling ratios involving zero-order Bessel function are derived. The mutual coupling ratio for the vertical coaxial loop system is given in the same form as the mutual coupling ratio for the vertical coplanar loop system.  相似文献

In a previous paper by the present author a method was developed for direct interpretation of resistivity observations made with a Schlumberger electrode configuration. This method consisted of two steps. The first of these was to derive the kernel function in the integral expression for the apparent resistivity from the observed data; the second step was to derive the resistivity stratification from this kernel function. The first of these two steps depends on the electrode configuration that has been used. In the present paper the above mentioned method is modified so as to make it apply to a Wenner electrode configuration. The procedure is indicated by which the method may be adapted to any other electrode configuration in which the distances between the electrodes are finite. The second step in the interpretation, i.e. the derivation of the resistivity stratification from the kernel function, is independent of the electrode configuration used, and therefore needs no further discussion in the present context.  相似文献

We start from the Hankel transform of Stefanescu's integral written in the convolutionintegral form suggested by Ghosh (1971). In this way it is possible to obtain the kernel function by the linear electric filter theory. Ghosh worked out the sets of filter coefficients in frequency domain and showed the very low content of high frequencies of apparent resistivity curves. Vertical soundings in the field measure a series of apparent resistivity values at a constant increment Δx of the logarithm of electrode spacing. Without loss of information we obtain the filter coefficient series by digital convolution of the Bessel function of exponential argument with sine function of the appropriate argument. With a series of forty-one values we obtain the kernel functions from the resistivity curves to an accuracy of better than 0.5%. With the digital method it is possible to calculate easily the filter coefficients for any electrode arrangement and any cut-off frequency.  相似文献

A power series expansion can be used to obtain the kernel from apparent resistivities for an arbitrary electrode configuration. Three types of function are most appropriate for this purpose. The expansion coefficients can be by a least-squares method. In this case, ortho-normalization of the functions is of great advantage. An example with the Wenner configuration is given.  相似文献

The problem of interpretation of geoelectrical resistivity soundings has been studied and a compromise method of interpretation developed. A simple depth sequence of increasing bed thickness is taken and resistivities assigned to the various layers so that a good fit is obtained to the observed apparent resistivity curve. An initial estimate of the resistivities is made by a direct method but the model is then altered to give an improved fit by the indirect method of curve matching. The whole method is computerized and input data to the computer program consists of spacings and apparent resistivities. The method is extremely rapid, about one third of the computation time is devoted to obtaining the resistivity transform by the method of convolution. A normal type of solution, incorporating additional information if necessary, can also be obtained.  相似文献

Matrix equations are derived to transform the resistivity sounding data obtained in one type of a four-electrode array to the corresponding resistivity sounding data that would be obtained using a different four-electrode array. These expressions are based primarily on recent work in which we have established a linear relation between the apparent resistivity and the kernel function by using a powerful exponential approximation for the kernel function. It is shown that the resistivity sounding data of two different four-electrode arrays have a linear relation through an essentially non-singular matrix operator and, as such, one is derivable from the other for a one-dimensional model and it can also be extended to two-dimensions. Some numerical examples considering synthetic data are presented which demonstrates the efficiency of the method in such transformations. Two published field examples are also considered for transformation giving a reliable interpretation.  相似文献

A simple unified equation of apparent resistivity for a general four-electrode array is developed. The main idea is the analytical integration of the Stefanescu expression for potential over a layered earth by writing an exponential approximation for the kernel function. Finally a matrix equation is developed to estimate the kernel function from observed apparent resistivity values. The general equation automatically reduces to the particular configuration once the electrode separations are modified suitably. Examples for Schlumberger and Wenner configurations are numerically calculated to estimate the precision of the method. Good results in a short execution time are obtained, irrespective of the shape of the apparent resistivity curve. Finally, the full interpretation of one theoretical resistivity curve and two field resistivity curves is demonstrated. The more stable ridge-regression estimation method is used in the identification of layer parameters from the kernel function.  相似文献

In this paper a technique for computing type curves for the two-electrode resistivity soundings is presented. It is shown that the apparent resistivity due to the system can be represented by a convolution integral. Thus, it is possible to apply the principle of digital linear filtering and compute the desired type-curves. The filter function required for the purpose is found to be identical with that used to compute the EM sounding curves for the two coplanar horizontal loop system. It is further shown that from the two-electrode apparent-resistivity expression one can easily derive the apparent resistivities for other configurations. A comparison of depths of investigation for various systems reveals that the two-electrode system has greater depth of investigation than other conventional systems. This is also supported by the field example presented in the end, which illustrates the relative performance of the two-electrode system vis-a-vis the Wenner system.  相似文献

The relation between the horizontal profiles of the subsurface resistivity and surface magnetotelluric data can be described by the input and output of a moving-average filter. The impulse response of this spatial filter, which characterizes the averaging process of the magnetotelluric measurements, is given by the sensitivity profile. Thus, the sensitivity analysis can provide insight into the characteristics of the measurements and hence the mechanism of the static effects. The sensitivity analysis presented here consists of constructing the vertical section of the sensitivity distribution using the finite-element method and then Fourier transforming the selected horizontal profiles. When the dipole is assumed for measuring the electric field, the static effects can be explained by the high-pass filter characteristics for the near-surface. When the electrode separation is taken into account, the sensitivity can be obtained by averaging the sensitivities for the dipoles over the horizontal distance equal to the electrode separation. Therefore, the higher-frequency components at each depth decrease with increasing electrode separation. Thus, although the static effects can be reduced simply by increasing the electrode separation, information on the resistivity variation at depth is also lost. However, such an adverse effect can be reduced by making the EMAP-type measurements followed by the spatial filtering of the profile data using the tapered weighting function.  相似文献

Consideration is given to the use of a configuration of four electrodes set in a square array for resistivity measurements. It is found that, by passing current successively between different pairs of electrodes, an apparent resistivity can be determined which is both more sensitive to the position of the array centre and less dependent on orientation than the measures usually obtained with colinear arrays of electrodes. At the same time the observations made enable the degree of the departure of local conditions from conditions of lateral homogeneity to be assessed. Theoretical and practical examples of the use of this electrode system are given and the use of the system both as a tool in mapping and in depth investigations is considered. It is shown that provided electrode spacings are suitably arranged the results of a probe carried out using the square array can be interpreted by conventional methods. The system is shown to have particular advantages in the investigation of lateral resistivity variations and the reduced dependence on orientation makes possible the recasting of interpretation data in an orientationally invariant form with a consequent drastic reduction in the number of type curves required for a particular problem.  相似文献

Two-layer type curves of apparent frequency effect for the Wenner configuration are presented. The formulation is based on the normal definition of frequency effect in terms of resistivities measured at different frequencies plus the definition of apparent resistivity over two horizontal layers as a function of first and second layer resistivities. A simple filter is developed which transforms VLF-EM real magnetic field transfer functions into apparent resistivities. It is based on the relationship between the horizontal derivative of the surface electric field and the vertical magnetic field at the surface of a two-dimensional earth model. The performance of this simple autoregressive filter is tested for modelled and real survey data. The technique yields profiles of apparent resistivity very similar, both in magnitude and in wavelength, to those which would have been obtained using VLF-EM resistivity measurements or d.c. resistivity profiling. This low-pass filter has the advantage of reducing high-wavenumber noise in the data; therefore only the major features of the VLF-EM profile are displayed.  相似文献

地电阻率的高精度观测是实现地震预测预报的前提之一.面对日益严重的电磁干扰,提出了基于编码源循环互相关辨识技术的地电阻率观测方法,其实质是将待测地质体视为待辨识系统,利用编码源信号激励供电电极A和B产生的电流信号作为系统输入信号,测量电极M与N之间的电压信号作为系统响应输出,将输入和输出信号严格同步采样为时间序列,分别与参考信号进行循环互相关运算并转换至频率域计算获得待探测地电阻率谱(幅度和相位).由于系统环境的干扰和随机噪声与编码源信号不相关,通过循环互相关运算可以达到抑制环境随机噪声和干扰的目的.这种地电阻率观测体系在环境干扰较大的甘肃省兰州观象台和陇南汉王地震台站利用现有的观测场地和线路进行了观测试验,测量结果显示,数据的一致性好、均方差小,说明该方法在强干扰环境下具有较好的抗电磁干扰能力,观测频带较以往直流电法测量有较大的扩展.该方法为现有地面地电阻率台站持续发展提供了技术保障,可为地震预报与科学研究提供高质量的地电阻率观测数据.   相似文献

On the basis of the dispersion relations of MT field, the necessity and applied prospects of the joint inversions using a pair of MT response functions which are correlative with the dispersion relations, are infered. A filter coefficient algorithm is made, with which the corresponding impedance phase data can be estimated using a set of apparent resistivities. The tests for the observed MT data show that when comparing the impedance phase estimated using the dispersion relation with the ob served phase, it can be checked whether the dispersion relation between observed apparent resistivity and phase data is satisfied or not, and that the use of the phase data corrected using the dispersion relation in the joint inversion is advantageous to obtain more confident results. It is shown that joint inversions are more advantageous than single parameter inversions, and that in the most case the joint inversion using the apparent resistivities of impedance real and imaginary parts is more advantageous than the jointinversion using the normal apparent resistivity and impedance phase. The existence of the dipersion relations between the ratio apparent resistivity and corresponding impedance phase of the orthogonal electric and magnetic field horizontal Components in the frequency EM sounding with horizontal electric dipole(FEMS) are discussed, the better effect of the joint inversion using the pair of EM response functions is obtained. The problems on the one-dimensional joint inversion for the MT and FEMS apparent resistivities, for which the observed frequency bands partly overlape each other, are studied. It is shown that this joint inversion is applicable and effective:the joint inversions of the practical data for two kinds of EM methods at two sites give the results well corresponding to the drilling data. The simulated MT inversions for the data of two kinds of EM methods are made, and more confident results also are obtained.  相似文献

In the Asse salt-mine (Germany), where extensive research is carried out on various aspects of nuclear waste disposal in rock-salt formations, the resistivity of a future construction site for a test seal at a depth of 945 m has been investigated. Measurements have been conducted, using various types of the four-point electrode configuration, on a network of 180 electrodes permanently installed in boreholes. A fully computer-controlled measurement system has been built consisting of a resistivity meter, a switchbox for electrodes and a computer with special control software. The system has interactive and programmable automatic working modes with an extensive capability for documentation and processing including the immediate evaluation of apparent resistivities and is suitable for long-term continuous observations. The average resistivity at the site which consists of almost homogeneous Stassfurt rock-salt, is approximately 0.6 × 106Ωm with little variation. There is a small anomaly due to a conductive inclusion, probably a local anhydrite band. There is no indication of anisotropy so far and no significant change with time. The specific amount of water in the effective pores and its change can be estimated from the observed resistivities using the extended form of Archie's equation with pore saturation included. In this case data for the specific internal surface from samples are available and the order of permeability may be estimated using the formation factor derived from resistivities.  相似文献
