The source IRAS 03134 + 5958 identified by Iyengar & Verma (1984) on the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS) prints with
a nonstellar optical object with [P – R]≃ 5.3 ± 1.5 is near the edge of Lynds dark cloud No. 1384 and is either embedded in or behind the cloud. The galactic latitude
of this source (b
II = 2‡.3), its positionvis-a-vis the Lynds dark cloud, its nonstellar appearance, high [P – R] colour and its far-infrared spectrum, all suggest the possibility of its being a Herbig-Haro (HH) object. To test this possibility
we undertook measurements of its proper motion and variability (two of the characteristic properties of HH objects). These
yield μa = (3.6 ± 2.3) arcsec/century and μδ= (−1.2 ± 2.0) arcsec/century for its proper motion. The source reveals large variation in brightness between 1950 and 1954.
Optical line studies of the source are required to confirm its classification as an HH object. 相似文献

HD 115781 and HD 116204 (BL CVn and BM CVn) are shown to be RS CVn binaries with periods near 20 days. HD 115781 is double-lined;
the primary type is about K1III, while the secondary is probably a late-type subgiant. The masses of the two components are equal within observational error.
There is substantial photometric variability with a period half the orbital period; it is attributed to ellipsoidal variation.
HD 116204 is also of type K1III. It shows exceptionally strong Ca II H and K emission, together with an emission-line spectrum typical of RS CVn stars in
theIUE ultraviolet region, but Hα is an absorption line. The secondary star in the HD 116204 system has not been detected. The primary
shows photometric variations, presumably due to starspots, with a period 5 per cent longer than the orbital period. 相似文献

The problem of lithium in chemically peculiar Ap-CP stars has been the subject of debate for many years. The main reason for
this is a lack of spectral observations of Ap stars in the neighborhood of the lithium resonance doublet Li I 6708 Å. An international
cooperation project on “Lithium in cool CP stars with magnetic fields” was started in 1996. Systematic observations of CP
stars in spectral regions of the 6708 Å and 6103 Å lines at the ZTSh (CrAO), CAT (ESO), Feros (ESO), and the 74″ telescope
of the Mount Stromlo Observatory (Australia) have been used to analyze spectra of several CP stars studied by the way the
6708 Å lithium line varies with the stars’ rotational phase. Monitoring of the spectra of the oscillating CP stars (group
I) HD 83368, HD 60435, and HD 3980, for which significant Doppler shifts of the Li I 6708 Å line are observed led to the discovery
of “lithium spots” on the surface of these stars whose positions are related to the magnetic field structure. Models of the
surfaces of these stars with the special program “ROTATE” based on the profiles of the Li I 6708 Å line are used to estimate
the size of the spots, their positions on the stars’ surface, and the lithium abundances in these spots. A detailed analysis
and modelling of the spectra of slowly rotating oscillating CP stars with strong, invariant lithium 6708 Å emission, including
blending with lines of the rare earth elements, reveals an enhanced lithium abundance, with the abundance determined from
the lithium 6103 Å line being higher than that determined from the 6708 Å line for all the stars. This may indicate vertical
stratification of lithium in the atmospheres of CP stars with an anomalous isotopic composition (6Li/7Li = 0.2–0.5). HD 101065, an ultraslow rotator (vsini ≈ 1.5) visible from the poles and with powerful oscillations which cause pulsating line broadening in its spectrum, is unique
among these stars. The amount of lithium in the atmosphere of HD 101065 logN(Li) = 3.1 on a scale of logN(H) = 12.0 and the isotope ratio 6Li/7Li ≈ 0.3. The high estimates of 6Li/7Li may be explained by the production of lithium in spallation reactions and the preservation of surface 6Li and 7Li by strong magnetic fields in the upper layers of the atmosphere near the magnetic poles.

We propose that single stars in the mass range 4–6·5M
⊙, that explode as Supernovae of Type I, are totally disrupted by the explosion and form shell-type remnants. More massive
single stars which explode as Supernovae of Type II also give rise to shell-type remnants, but in this case a neutron star
or a black hole is left behind. The first supernova explosion in a close binary also gives rise to a shell-type supernova
remnant. The Crab-like filled-centre supernova remnants are formed by the second supernova explosion in a close binary. The
hybrid supernova remnants, consisting of a filled centre surrounded by a shell, are formed if there is an active neutron star

Li abundance is determined for 23 halo subdwarfs. About half of the stars show [Fe/H] < −1.4 and a space velocityV > 160 km s−1 Li appears to be present in all our halo stars, with an abundance within about ± 0.2 dex of the value logn (Li) = 2.0 found by Spite & Spite (1982). Thus our results provide confirmation of the main conclusion of Spite & Spite. 相似文献

The peculiar galaxy NGC 4650 A (α=12h 42m. 1; = δ—40° 26′; 1950·0) has been studied by means of direct and spectral observations with the ESO 3·6-m telescope. It is
interpreted as a prolate, elliptical galaxy surrounded by a warped ring of H II regions, dust and stars. The distance is 47
Mpc (H
0=55 km s−1 Mpc−1). The ring is seen nearly edge-on (inclination 85°) and it rotates. It has a diameter of about 21 kpc and is bluer than the
elliptical galaxy for which the (M/L
v) ratio is ∼12 in solar units. The observed configuration may be the result of interaction with the nearby galaxy, NGC 4650. 相似文献

An examination of the existing period searches for 2CG195 + 4 leads to the conclusion that the 59 second periodicity is highly
significant only for the 1981 March 17–18 detection of Bignami, Caraveo & Paul (1984). The statistical significance is increased
substantially if the pulsation period is half the previously reported value. The period derivative is not well determined.
Here we propose that 2CG 195 + 4 is a neutron star powered by accretion from a low (≲ 1M
⊙) mass main-sequence companion. A distance of a few hundred pc would imply that the neutron star is a fast rotator and is

We report first evidence for a new unidentified and variable MeV source, located near the galactic plane at (l,b)∼(284.5°,
2.5°). The source, GRO J1036-55, is found at a significance level of ∼5.6σ by COMPTEL in its 3–10 MeV band. The energy spectrum indicates a spectral maximum at 3–4.3 MeV with a steep slope at higher
energies. Since the COMPTEL 3–4.3 MeV data contain contamination by an instrumental background line, we performed several
consistency checks, which all are consistent with an astrophysical nature of this emission feature. 相似文献

In the framework of ‘microscopic’ theory of black holes (J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. Suppl. B 70, 84, 2001; Astrophys. USSR 4, 659, 1996; 35, 335, 1991, 33, 143, 1990, 31, 345, 1989a; Astrophys. Space Sci. 1, 1992; Dokl. Akad. Nauk USSR 309, 97, 1989b), and references therein, we address the ‘pre-radiation time’ (PRT) of neutrinos from black holes, which implies the lapse
of time from black hole’s birth till radiation of an extremely high energy neutrinos. For post-PRT lifetime, the black hole
no longer holds as a region of spacetime that cannot communicate with the external universe. We study main features of spherical
accretion onto central BH and infer a mass accretion rate onto it, and, further, calculate the resulting PRT versus bolometric
luminosity due to accretion onto black hole. We estimate the PRTs of AGN black holes, with the well-determined masses and
bolometric luminosities, collected from the literature by Woo Jong-Hak and Urry (Astrophys. J. 579, 530, 2002) on which this paper is partially based. The simulations for the black holes of masses M
BH
≃(1.1⋅106
÷4.2⋅109) M
⊙ give the values of PRTs varying in the range of about T
BH
≃(4.3⋅105
÷5.6⋅1011) yr. The derived PRTs for the 60 AGN black holes are longer than the age of the universe (∼13.7 Gyr) favored today. At present,
some of remaining 174 BHs may radiate neutrinos. However, these results would be underestimated if the reservoir of gas for
accretion in the galaxy center is quite modest, and no obvious way to feed the BHs with substantial accretion. 相似文献

VLA observations at 6 cm have been obtained for three hydrogen-deficient objects υ Sgr, V 348 Sgr, and A bell 58. A bell 58
was also observed at 2 cm. Only upper limits to the flux density could be set for these sources. A new radio source at 6 cm
was found in the field of υ Sgr.
The upper limit for 6 cm flux density of V348 Sgr sets an upper limit to its reddening asE(B–V) ≤ 0.65. The hydrogen deficient planetary nebula A 58 shows much lower radio flux than expected from the infrared-radio flux
density relationship of planetary nebulae.

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of Born–Infeld (B–I) phantom model in the ω–ω′ plane, which is defined by the equation of state parameter for the dark energy and its derivative with respect to N (the logarithm of the scale factor a). We find the scalar field equation of motion in ω–ω′ plane, and show mathematically the property of attractor solutions which correspond to ω

=1, which avoid the “Big rip” problem and meets the current observations well.

This is a study of optical emission lines of the nucleus of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 3227. This work is based on 53 spectrograms
obtained with the 6-m telescope at the brightness maximum of this galactic nucleus on January 12–15, 1977. A set of profiles
of the hydrogen Hα, and Hβ lines and the equivalent widths (EWλ) of six emission lines and blends averaged over series of observations are presented. Broadening of the hydrogen line profiles
was observed over the three days. At a level of 0.50 times the peak brightness the hydrogen line profiles were broadened by
12%, 35%, and 44%, respectively. The broadening of the Hβ line was accompanied by a reduction in its equivalent width (EW
;
). It is suggested that a flare was observed in the nucleus of the galaxy on a time scale of 3 days, possibly caused to a
shock wave in long-lived flows from the galaxy nucleus.

We model thermal evolution of magnetars with a phenomenological heat source in a spherical internal layer and compare the
results with observations of persistent thermal radiation from magnetars. We show that the heat source should be located in
the outer magnetar’s crust, at densities ρ≲5×1011 g cm−3, and the heating rate should be ∼1020 erg cm−3 s−1. Heating deeper layers is extremely inefficient because the thermal energy is mainly radiated away by neutrinos and does
not warm up the surface to the magnetar’s level. This deep heating requires too much energy; it is inconsistent with the energy
budget of neutron stars.

Photoelectric and photographic photometry of twenty-nine stars was done in the field of the open cluster Collinder 97 ≡ OC1
506. Of these stars, a total of twenty-four have been found to be possible members. There is apparently no interstellar extinction
in the direction of this cluster which is in the constellation of Monoceros: itsE(B-V) = 0.0 mag. This cluster is situated at a distance of 0.63 ± 0.01 kpc, which is well within the local arm of our Galaxy. The
age of this cluster is in the range of 1 × 108 to 5.9 × l08 yr, which puts it in an older age group. Thus, it cannot be specifically considered as a spiral-arm tracer in the study of

The spatial-temporal distribution of absorption-line systems (ALSs) observed in QSO spectra within the cosmological redshift
interval z=0.0–4.3 is investigated on the base of our updated catalog of absorption systems. We consider so-called metallic systems
including basically lines of heavy elements. The sample of the data displays regular variations (with amplitudes ∼15–20%)
in the z-distribution of ALSs as well as in the η-distribution, where η is a dimensionless line-of-sight comoving distance, relatively to smoother dependences. The η-distribution reveals the periodicity with period Δη=0.036±0.002, which corresponds to a spatial characteristic scale (108±6)h
−1 Mpc or (alternatively) a temporal interval (350±20)h
−1 Myr for the ΛCDM cosmological model. We discuss the possibility of a spatial interpretation of the results, treating the
pattern obtained as a trace of an order imprinted on the galaxy clustering in the early Universe. 相似文献

The Ooty data on VHE (> 600 GeV) γ-rays from the Crab pulsar have been used to look at possible emission on three different
timescales,viz. years, minutes and hours. When averaged over three years of observation, there is no significant time-averaged emission.
But interesting aspects are revealed when the data are subdivided into miniruns of one-minute duration. Minutes with moderate
γ-ray activity were isolated with a κ2 analysis. The summed phasogram of such minutes shows two strong peaks coinciding with the radio main pulse and the interpulse
respectively. The probability that these are due to chance is small. The phasogram has a bimodal distribution which indicates
some emission from the middle region between the two phases. In general, there is no significant emission on the timescale
of a few hours. However, the main pulse, as well as the bimodal distribution, were seen also in the total data of two nights
of simultaneous observation at two sites during 1984–1985. 相似文献

Broadband imaging of Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko has provided more data on the characterisation of the target of the ESA
Rosetta Mission. The comet monitoring between r
h=2.37 and r
h=2.78 AU postperihelion shows a prominent dust coma which extends up to ≈ 25,000 km from the nucleus, and a long dust structure
in approximately anti-tail direction, reaching at least 230,000 km, identified as a neck-line structure. The non-isotropic
dust emission is detected from the structures in the inner coma, and it is reflected on the slope of linear fits of surface
brightness profiles vs. cometocentric projected distance in log–log representation as m ≈ 0.83−0.941. Besides the long dust spike at position angle of 295°, the morphological study of the dust coma confirms the
presence of two structures at position angles of
95 and
195° where the overabundance of dust can be as high as 50% at ρ ≤ 30,000 km. The A
f ρ parameter derived from our R broadband data is 26.0 and 29.8 cm at r
h=2.37 and 2.48 AU postperihelion. The dust reflectivity S′(λ), a measurement of the dust colour, is 0.061±0.019, a rather neutral colour. 相似文献
