We present the results of our spectroscopic and photometric observations of the classical symbiotic star V1413 Aql in 2003–2007, which cover the transition phase of its hot component from activity to quiescence. Various quiescence criteria for the hot component of the system are analyzed. Judging by its photometric characteristics, the system had not yet returned to quiescence by 2007, although a fairly strong He II λ4686 Å line observed previously during quiescence in 1993 appeared in its spectrum. We model the continuum energy distribution for V1413 Aql based on a standard three-component model and a model with an accretion disk. Analysis of the forbidden [O III] and [Ne III] lines shows that the neon abundance in V1413 Aql may be enhanced with respect to the oxygen abundance. The cool component of V1413 Aql has been found to be a variable M5-type red giant, with the variability amplitude at λ = 7500 Å being at least 2 m .  相似文献

We present the first results of our program of search for the most metal-deficient blue compact galaxies (BCGs) carried out with the 6-m Special Astrophysical Observatory telescope. The results of spectrophotometry are presented and discussed for ten galaxies from the Case and Hamburg/SAO surveys. The selection of candidates, observations, and data reduction are described in detail. For all the galaxies studied, we measured the intensity of the [O III] λ4363 Å emission line, which allows us to properly determine the temperatures of H II regions and to deduce elemental abundances. We measured the intensities of all the detected emission lines in H II regions of the galaxies under study and determined the abundances of oxygen and neon in them and in some of these galaxies, of other elements (N, S, He, Ar, and Fe). The oxygen abundance log (O/H)+12 in six galaxies was derived with an error ≤0.1 dex. Six of the ten galaxies studied turned out to be metal-poor with an oxygen abundance ≤1/10 of its solar value [i.e., 12+log(O/H)≤7.92]. HS 0837+4717 with 12+log(O/H) ≤7.7 is one of the most metal-poor galaxies in this sample and one of the candidates for young galaxies. Low-contrast, broad emission components of the nebular [O III]λ4959 and 5007 Å lines were detected in its spectrum, suggesting high velocities of gas motions in this galaxy.  相似文献

We hypothesize the formation of neon associated with isotopically anomalous xenon (Xe-HL) in meteoritic nanodiamonds and designated as Ne-X through the mixing of the Ne-HL and Ne-S subcomponents. The Ne-HL subcomponent is neon from the helium (He/C) zone of a type II supernova or a mixture of neon from this zone and its hydrogen zone, while the Ne-S subcomponent is spallation neon formed during a supernova explosion in nuclear spallation reactions induced by high-energy protons. Based on this hypothesis and the presumed abundances of neon isotopes in the zones of a high-mass (25M ) supernova after its explosion, we have calculated the abundances of neon components in nanodiamond separates and its grain-size fractions. Our calculations have shown the following. (1) The main source of Ne-HL is neon from the helium zone of the supernova; as a result, the 20Ne/22Ne and 21Ne/22Ne ratios for Ne-X are 0.26 ± 0.03 and 0.19 ± 0.04, respectively. The isotopic composition of Ne-X is identical to that for Ne-A2 if Ne-HL is produced by the mixing of neon from the helium and hydrogen zones in proportion 1: 1.06. (2) In meteoritic nanodiamonds, the main neon abundance is determined by neon of the P3 component (Ne-P3). Ne-P3 is retained during thermal metamorphism, because it is sited in traps of the crystal lattice of diamond with a high energy of its activation. (3) The Ne-X/Ne-P3 ratio increases with nanodiamond grain size; as a result, there is no need to invoke an additional neon component (Ne-P6) to interpret the data on neon in meteoritic nanodiamonds.  相似文献

Abstract— We present an isotope study of noble gases in Divnoe, an anomalous meteorite, and also Rb-Sr and K-Ar dating of this meteorite. The relatively young Rb-Sr age obtained (3.39 Ga) seems doubtful and, most probably, results from weathering or contamination. The ancient K-Ar age (4.67+0.20–0.40), together with clear excess of 129Xe, allows the suggestion of very early formation of the Divnoe meteorite. Concentrations and isotope ratios of noble gases in Divnoe are: 17.9 ≤ 3He ≤ 29.0 × 10?8; 20Ne = 6.22 × 10?8; 2.44 ≤ 36Ar ≤ 5.10 × 10?8; 130Xe = 41.3 × 10?12 cm3/g; 0.079 ≤ 3He/4He ≤ 0.193; 20Ne/22Ne = 0.860; 21Ne/22Ne = 0.927; 3.47 ≤ 40Ar/36Ar ≤ 9.47; 2.22 ≤ 36Ar/38Ar ≤ 3.27; 129Xe/132Xe = 1.09. The exposure age calculated from cosmogenic 3He, 21Ne, and 38Ar is 17.9 ± 0.9 Ma. On the basis of the isotope data for the noble gases and O, and abundances of K, Rb, and Sr, an attempt was made to estimate the relationship of Divnoe to other meteorite types. The O-isotope characteristics of Divnoe are clearly distinct from those of ordinary chondrites, acapulcoites/lodranites, and SNC meteorites (Petaev et al., 1994, Clayton, 1993). In plots of 136Xe vs. 129Xe/130Xe, the Divnoe data fall outside of the data fields for carbonaceous and enstatite chondrites. The light noble gas data, especially the 40Ar/38Ar ratio, and the 40Ar, 38Ar, 3He, and 4He contents of Divnoe differ significantly from those of all meteorite types except diogenites. The K, Rb, and Sr abundances in Divnoe are substantially lower than in most other meteorites. In the concentrations of these elements, as well as in the REE pattern, the Divnoe meteorite is similar only to diogenites. Divnoe probably should be treated as a restite remaining after partial melting of the chondritic mantle of a parent asteroid body.  相似文献

We present a detailed analysis of the planetary nebula M4–18 (G146.7+07.6) and its WC10-type Wolf–Rayet (WR) central star, based on high‐quality optical spectroscopy (WHT/UES, INT/IDS, WIYN/DensPak) and imaging ( HST /WFPC2). From a non-LTE model atmosphere analysis of the stellar spectrum, we derive T eff=31 kK,     v =160 km s−1 and abundance number ratios of H/He<0.5, C/He=0.60 and O/He=0.10. These parameters are remarkably similar to those of He 2–113 ([WC10]). Assuming an identical stellar mass to that determined by De Marco et al. for He 2–113, we obtain a distance of 6.8 kpc to M4–18 [ E ( B−V )=0.55 mag from nebular and stellar techniques]. This implies that the planetary nebula of M4–18 has a dynamical age of ∼3100 yr, in contrast to ≥270 yr for He 2–113. This is supported by the much higher electron density of the latter. These observations may be reconciled with evolutionary predictions only if [WC]-type stars exhibit a range in stellar masses.
Photoionization modelling of M4–18 is carried out using our stellar WR flux distribution, together with blackbody and Kurucz energy distributions obtained from Zanstra analyses. We conclude that the ionizing energy distribution from the WR model provides the best consistency with the observed nebular properties, although discrepancies remain.  相似文献

Abstract— Helium and neon isotope ratios were determined for 16 interplanetary dust particles (IDPs) collected in the stratosphere. The concentration of helium observed varied greatly from particle to particle, with the highest values approaching those found for lunar surface fines and some gas-rich meteorites. With the exception of one particle, for which the 3He/4He was (1.45 ± 0.05) × 10?3, the remainder of the particles had ratios falling between 1.4 and 3.1 × 10?4, with an average of (2.4 ± 0.3) × 10?4, substantially less than is associated with the solar wind or observed in average lunar fines or in lunar fines having sizes comparable to those of the IDPs studied. The average 20Ne/22Ne found was 12.0 ± 0.5. Only three reasonably reliable 21Ne/22Ne ratios could be determined, and for these the average was 0.035 ± 0.006. The isotopic ratios appear to preclude the presence of any appreciable amount of cosmic ray-produced spallogenic products. The high 4He concentrations observed for some of the particles, approaching those observed for lunar surface grains, suggest they were not heated to high temperatures and degassed as they descended in the earth's atmosphere. From Flynn's study of the dynamics of IDPs entering the earth's atmosphere this could mean they entered the atmosphere at relatively low velocities, and hence may be primarily of asteroidal rather than cometary origin.  相似文献

We make new non-local thermodynamic equilibrium calculations to deduce the abundances of neon from visible-region echelle spectra of selected Ne  i lines in seven normal stars and 20 HgMn stars. We find that the best strong blend-free Ne line that can be used at the lower end of the effective temperature T eff range is λ 6402, although several other potentially useful Ne  i lines are found in the red region of the spectra of these stars. The mean neon abundance in the normal stars (log  A =8.10) is in excellent agreement with the standard abundance of neon (8.08). However, in HgMn stars neon is almost universally underabundant, ranging from marginal deficits of 0.1–0.3 dex to underabundances of an order of magnitude or more. In many cases, the lines are so weak that only upper limits can be established. The most extreme example found is υ Her with an underabundance of at least 1.5 dex. These underabundances are qualitatively expected from radiative acceleration calculations, which show that Ne has a very small radiative acceleration in the photosphere, and that it is expected to undergo gravitational settling if the mixing processes are sufficiently weak and there is no strong stellar wind. According to theoretical predictions , the low Ne abundances place an important constraint on the intensity of such stellar winds, which must be less than 10−14 M yr−1 if they are non-turbulent.  相似文献

The question of which progenitor channel can reproduce the observed rate of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) remains unresolved, the two leading models being the so-called single and double degenerate scenarios. The former implies a large population of accreting, nuclear-burning white dwarfs with photospheric temperatures T~105–106 K during some part of their accretion history. Recently, we demonstrated that a population of accreting white dwarfs large enough to reproduce the observed SN Ia rate would contribute significantly to the ionizing radiation expected from the stellar population in early-type galaxies, now commonly observed to host spatially extended regions of neutral and ionized gas. From our photoionization calculations, we show that one can constrain the contribution of the single degenerate channel to the SN Ia rate in early-type galaxies from upper limits on the luminosity of a number of emission lines characteristic of ionization by high-temperature sources. Detection (or strong upper limits on) He II 1640 Å and [C II] 1335 Å, expected to be overluminous in these galaxies if the single-degenerate channel holds true, can strongly constrain the total luminosity of nuclear-burning white dwarfs in these populations. In the near-UV, our photoionization calculations demonstrate that the EW of the [O II] 3727 doublet and the [Ne III] 3869/[O II] 3727 ratio can also provide a powerful diagnostic, particularly in post-starburst galaxies. Together with the He II 3203 Å (5 → 3) recombination line, these lines present an excellent opportunity for strongly constraining the population of accreting, nuclear-burning white dwarfs, and in general the available ionizing continuum, at relatively short delay-times (time from initial starburst).  相似文献

Sample 14307,30, a gas-rich breccia (Group 1 of Warner, 1972) has been studied by coupling track method and light noble gas isotopic analysis. The breccia is made of a glassy dark matrix with embedded millimeter to sub-millimeter sized angular ligth xenoliths. These ones are breccia fragments of higher grade metamorphic facies (Group ? 2). A lighter strata (~ 0.5 cm thick) intersects the dark matrix. Noble gas analysis have shown the dark matrix (36Ar = 5.4 × 10?4 cc STP/g) to be enriched in solar type gases with respect to the light fractions (36Ar ? 2.2 × 10?4 cc STP/g). Themean value of the bulk ‘exposure age’ for different samplings is 180 ± 20 × 106 yr, as calculated from spallogenic3He,21Ne and126Xe contents, using our data and those of Bogard and Nyquist (1972). After appropriate correction for radiogenic40Ar, the ratio40Arexc/36Artr is about 5. A total of 390 crystals coming from 11 locations either in the dark matrix, the lighter strata or a light xenolith (0.25 cm diam), have been studied by track analysis using optical and scanning electron microscopy. 181 crystals were thoroughly investigated by means of the latter technique. The following results were obtained:
  1. 72 crystals (70-300µm diam) from one location (No. 12) in the matrix show aminimum track density distribution spreading over 3 orders of magnitude (from 2 × 106 up to 2 × 109 cm?2). The spectrum has at its lower edge a well defined peak (~ 50% of total crystal number) around 3 × 106 cm?2). Grains with track density variations over a factor of 3 have a low abundance as compared to average lunar soils. Moreover the mineralogy of this location is peculiar due to its large abundance in orthopyroxenes. Considering the lower edge of the track density distribution amaximum surface residence time of 5 × 106 yr can be set for rock 14307 in itspresent shape;
  2. 11 feldspars (1-15µm diam) and 22 clinopyroxenes (70-130µm) have been studied in the light xenolith. All crystals have minimum track densities larger than 108 cm?2. No spatial variation of track-densities (2.5 ± 0.5 × 109 cm?2) were found in feldspars inside a millimeter-sized polished section. Clearly these tracks were not acquired by an irradiation of the xenolith as an individual entity, but survived its own formation as a breccia of Group 2. Therefore, solar energetic iron particle tracks have not been erased despite a complex mechanical and thermal history involved by two subsequent brecciation processes;
  3. in the 10 other locations, crystals (70-200µm diam) either from the dark matrix or the lighter strata show a significant departure from the pattern observed in lunar soils; namely:
  1. the minimum track density distribution is strongly peaked at high values (~ 1-4 × 109 cm?2) for ~ 95% of the crystals, the remaining ~ 5% having low-values (0.2-1 × 107 cm?2);
  2. the abundance (2%) of crystals with track density variation over a factor of 3 is about one order of magnitude less than in average lunar soils;
  3. the magnitude of track density gradients within single crystals is small. In fact, thelargest track density variation versus depth found can be described by the relation? α D?0.5, in contrast with soil grains which generally exhibit a variation of the form? α D?1.1±0.4.
The above observations imply that the peculiar irradiation characteristics of these fossilized soils are more likely to be attributed to some wide scale process rather than to some accidental or local phenomena. Attempts to account for these findings by present solar VH particle flux and energy distribution (as determined by Crozaz and Walker, 1971; Fleischeret al., 1971b; Priceet al., 1971), current estimates of lunar fine scale erosion, accumulation and turn-over rates, have proven essentially negative. The bulk ‘exposure age’ of the breccia, rather low by lunar soil standards, makes things even worse. For lack of any better explanation, the above observations could be more easily understood by postulating a higher flux (by factors from ~ 10 up to 200) and a harder energy spectrum (at least for particles with rigidity less than 0.3 GV) for the solar cosmic rays at the time the constituents of the breccia were part as loose grains of the lunar regolith.  相似文献

Moderate-resolution, near-IR spectroscopy of MS 1512-cB58 is presented, obtained during commissioning of the near-infrared spectrometer (NIRSPEC) on the Keck II telescope. The strong lensing of this z=2.72 galaxy by the foreground cluster MS 1512+36 makes it the best candidate for detailed study of the rest-frame optical properties of Lyman-break galaxies. In 80 minutes of on-source integration, we have detected Halpha, [N ii] lambdalambda6583, 6548, [O i] lambda6300, He i lambda5876, [O iii] lambdalambda5007, 4959, Hbeta, Hgamma, [O ii] lambda3727, and a strong continuum signal in the range of 1.29-2.46 μm. A redshift of z=2.7290+/-0.0007 is inferred from the emission lines, in contrast to the z=2.7233 calculated from UV observations of interstellar absorption lines. Using the Balmer line ratios, we find an extinction of E(B-V) = 0.27. Using the line strengths, we infer a star formation rate (SFR) of 620+/-18 M middle dot in circle yr-1 (H0=75, q0=0.1, and Lambda=0), which is a factor of 2 higher than that measured from narrowband imaging observations of the galaxy but is a factor of almost 4 lower than the SFR inferred from the UV continuum luminosity. The width of the Balmer lines yields a mass of Mvir=1.2x1010 M middle dot in circle. We find that the oxygen abundance is 13 solar, in good agreement with other estimates of the metallicity. However, we infer a high nitrogen abundance, which may argue for the presence of an older stellar population.  相似文献

We present an image of T Tauri N reconstructed from speckle interferometry observations made at the 3.6 m Canada-France-Hawaii telescope (CFHT). Two spectral windows, at Hα [6540-6580 Å] and red continuum [6580-6840 Å] were used. The star is unresolved in the continuum (θ ≤ 0″038), setting an upper limit for its size of ≤ 5.3 AU (assuming a 140 pc distance). At Hα (continuum subtracted) two components are observed, an unresolved one with 70% of the Hα flux and a resolved 0″106 × 0″043 (15 × 6 AU) with 30 %. The extended component is elongated in the North-South direction. The extended Hα component scale, it's non-detection in the continuum, and TTau Hα profile shape suggest that the extension is a disk corona.  相似文献

Abstract— We measured the concentrations and isotopic compositions of He, Ne, and Ar in 29 bulk samples from 11 different strewn field fragments of the large Jiddat al Harasis (JaH) 073 L6 chondrite shower, including 7 samples from known locations within the main mass. In addition, we measured the concentrations of cosmogenic 10Be, 26Al, 36Cl, and 41Ca in 10 samples. All fragments of this shower are characterized by low 10Be concentrations (7.6–12.8 dpm/kg), high 26Al/10Be ratios (3.5‐5), large contributions of neutron capture 41Ca (200–1800 dpm/kgCa), low 3He/21Ne ratios (1.5‐3.0), large variations in cosmogenic 21Ne (1.2–12) × 10?8cm3STP/g, and significant contributions of neutron‐capture 36Ar. Stepwise heating experiments show that neutron‐capture produced 36Ar is predominantly released between 1000–1200 °C. All these results are consistent with a first‐stage exposure of ?65 Ma within ?20 cm of the surface of the L‐chondrite parent body, followed by ejection of a 1.5‐2 m large object, which was then delivered to Earth within about 0.5 and 0.7 Ma. The cosmogenic nuclide data in JaH 073 thus corroborate the trend that many of the large chondrites studied so far experienced a complex exposure history. The observed 3He/21Ne ratios of 2.5‐3.0 in the most shielded samples (including those of the main mass) are lower than predicted by model calculations, but similar to the lowest values found in the large Gold Basin L‐chondrite shower. The Bern plot, which gives a linear correlation for 3He/21Ne versus 22Ne/21Ne, is evidently not valid for very high shielding. Some of our measured 22Ne/21Ne ratios in JaH 073 are lower than 1.06, which is not well understood, but might be explained by loss of cosmogenic neon from shocked sodium‐rich plagioclase during terrestrial weathering. The amount of trapped atmospheric argon in the JaH 073 fragments varies by almost two orders of magnitude and shows only a weak correlation with the size of the fragments, which range from <100 g to >50 kg. Finally, low concentrations of radiogenic 4He and 40Ar indicate incomplete degassing < 1 Ga ago, probably at the main collision event on the L‐chondrite parent body ?480 Ma ago.  相似文献

Absolute intensities and wavelengths for 98 X-ray emission lines between 9 and 22.5 Å are reported. The active region spectra were obtained with three rocket-borne crystal spectrometers. Identifications are proposed for 62 of the lines and a model of the emitting plasma is constructed from the intensities of the strongest lines. The emission measure (N e 2 V) of the model peaks at 3 × 106 K with a value of 1.5 × 1047 cm?3 and decreases to 1046 cm?3 at 5 × 106 K. Effective oscill and collision strengths are calculated for the other transitions that are observed. The relative intensities of O viii and Ne ix give an oxygen : neon abundance ratio of 8 ∶ 1. The intensities of the satellite lines to helium-like lines are investigated and it is shown that these lines can be used with confidence in constructing active region models.  相似文献

Abstract Helium and neon were extracted from individual lunar ilmenite grains, approximately 100 μm in diameter, using a pulsed step-heating technique. Grains from lunar samples 71501 and 79035, believed to have been exposed to solar corpuscular radiation at greatly different times, were studied. The results found were consistent with the hypothesis that in addition to solar-wind-implanted gas, a second more deeply implanted component was present in both species of grains. Average isotopic ratios were determined giving equal weight to each of the particles. As found in depth studies employing chemical etching, both the 3He/4He and 20He/22Ne ratios were lower in the more deeply implanted gas than in the solar wind component. The 3He/4He ratio in the solar wind component of the more ancient grains was lower than that in the more recently exposed ones, whereas no difference was found for the more deeply embedded He. In the deeply embedded component of the ancient grains, the 4He/20Ne ratio was ~2×that found in the more recently exposed grains. In the shallowly implanted component, the ratio varied greatly from grain to grain, preventing comparison with the solar wind elemental composition.  相似文献

We review elemental abundances derived for planetary nebula (PN) WCcentral stars and for their nebulae. Uncertainties in the abundances of[WC] stars are still too large to enable an abundance sequenceto be constructed. In particular it is not clear why the hotter [WCE]stars have C and O abundances which are systematically lower than those oftheir supposed precursors, the [WCL] stars. This abundance differencecould be real or it may be due to unaccounted-for systematic effects inthe analyses. Hydrogen might not be present in [WC] star winds asoriginallysuggested, since broad pedestals observed at the base of nebular lines canplausibly be attributed to high velocity nebular components. It isrecommended that stellar abundance analyses should be carried out withnon-LTE model codes, although recombination line analyses can provideuseful insights. In particular, C II dielectronic recombinationlines provide a unique means to determine electron temperatures in cool[WC] star winds. We then compare the abundances found for PNe which have [WC] central starswith those that do not. Numerous abundance analyses of PNe have beenpublished, but comparisons based on non-uniform samples and methods arelikely to lack reliability. Nebular C/H ratios, which might be expected todistinguish between PNe around H-poor and H-rich stars, are rather similarfor the two groups, with only a small tendency towards larger values fornebulae around H-deficient stars. Nebular abundances should be obtainedwith photoionization models using the best-fitting non-LTE modelatmosphere for the central star as the input. Heavy-metal line blanketingstill needs to be taken into consideration when modeling the central star,as its omission can significantly affect the ionizing fluxes as well asthe abundance determinations. We discuss the discrepancies between nebularabundances derived from collisionally excited lines and thosederived from optical recombination lines, a phenomenon that may havelinks with the presence of H-deficient central stars.  相似文献

We present a first analysis of 2.4-45μm spectra of NGC 1068 obtained with the Short Wavelength Spectrometer SWS on board the Infrared Space Observatory ISO. The measured fine-structure line fluxes can be fit successfully by a simple photoionization model invoking an EUV bump in the ionizing continuum, similar to the case of the Circinus galaxy. Difference are observed between the [OIV] 26μm NLR line profile and optical NLR line profiles which may indicate significant extinction to part of the NLR. We detect pure rotational transitions of molecular hydrogen that must be emitted by molecular gas spanning a wide range of temperatures. The unusual strength of the fundamental S(0) 28μm rotational transition is evidence for a large (> 1.5 × 109 M⊙) gas mass at temperatures nea r 100 K. Either most of the gas in the circumnuclear region of NGC 1068 is warm or previous molecular mass estimates based on CO observations were too low. Strong mid-infrared continuum from the circumnuclear warm dust is prominent in our spectrum. The weak PAH emission detected at the edges of the 9.7μm silicate absorption should be considered in interpretations of the silicate feature. We present the results of our modeling of the O I line formation under non-LTE conditions in the atmospheres of FG stars. The statistical equilibrium of O I has been calculated using Barklem’s quantum-mechanical rates of inelastic collisions with hydrogen atoms. We have determined the non-LTE oxygen abundance from atomic O I lines for the Sun and 46 FG stars in a wide metallicity range, ?2.6 < [Fe/H] < 0.2. The application of accurate atomic data has led to an increase in the departures from LTE and a decrease in the oxygen abundance compared to the use of Drawin’s theoretical approximation. The change in the non-LTE abundance from the infrared O I 7771-5 Å triplet lines is 0.11 dex for solar atmospheric parameters and diminishes in absolute value with decreasing metallicity. We have revised the [O/Fe]–[Fe/H] relationship derived by us previously. The change in [O/Fe] is small in the [Fe/H] range from ?1.5 to 0.2. For stars with [Fe/H] < ?1 the [O/Fe] ratio has increased so that [O/Fe] = 0.60 at [Fe/H] = ?0.8 and rises to [O/Fe] = 0.75 at [Fe/H] = ?2.6.  相似文献

ISO spectra of the supernova remnant RCW103 are presented. This object is the prototype of a SNR shock heavily interacting with dense ISM (probably a molecular cloud). The spectra are dominated by prominent lines and show very little continuum at λ < 40 μm suggesting that the 12 and 25 μm IRAS emission from these types of remnant could be dominated by lines rather than continuum emission from warm dust heated by the shock as generally believed. The ISO data provide for the first time a simple and reliable estimate of the gas phase abundances of Si and Fe which are found to be close to solar relative to non refractory species such as Ne, S and Ar. This indicates that the shock is very effective in destroying the ISM dust and may therefore explain the absence of warm dust behind the shock. Like the optical Nickel lines, [NiII]6.63 μm yields Ni/Fe abundances a factor ≥ 10 above solar which we conclude results from a large underestimation of the computed Ni+ collision strengths. The methane abundance in the lower Jovian stratosphere is measured using Galilean satellite eclipse light curves. Spectrally selective observations in and between absorption bands are compared. An average mixing ratio at the locations measured is [CH4]/[H2] ~ 1.3 × 10?3, larger than the value 0.9 × 10?3 expected for a solar abundance of carbon. Some zenographic variation of the mixing ratio may occur. Observationally compatible values are 1.3–2.0 × 10?3 in the STZ, 1.3– 2.6 × 10?3 on the GRS/STrZ edge, and 0.7–1.3 × 10?3 in the GRS.  相似文献

Abstract– We measured cosmogenic radionuclides and noble gases in the L3–6 chondrite breccia Northwest Africa (NWA) 869, one of the largest meteorite finds from the Sahara. Concentrations of 10Be, 26Al, and 36Cl in stone and metal fractions of six fragments of NWA 869 indicate a preatmospheric radius of 2.0–2.5 m. The 14C and 10Be concentrations in three fragments yield a terrestrial age of 4.4 ± 0.7 kyr, whereas two fragments show evidence for a recent change in shielding, most likely due to a recent impact on the NWA meteoroid, approximately 105 yr ago, that excavated material up to approximately 80 cm deep and exposed previously shielded material to higher cosmic‐ray fluxes. This scenario is supported by the low cosmogenic 3He/21Ne ratios in these two samples, indicating recent loss of cosmogenic 3He. Most NWA samples, except for clasts of petrologic type 4–6, contain significant amounts of solar Ne and Ar, but are virtually free of solar helium, judging from the trapped 4He/20Ne ratio of approximately 7. Trapped planetary‐type Kr and Xe are most clearly present in the bulk and matrix samples, where abundances of 129Xe from decay of now extinct 129I are highest. Cosmogenic 21Ne varies between 0.55 and 1.92 × 10?8 cm3 STP g?1, with no apparent relationship between cosmogenic and solar Ne contents. Low cosmogenic (22Ne/21Ne)c ratios in solar gas free specimens are consistent with irradiation in a large body. Combined 10Be and 21Ne concentrations indicate that NWA 869 had a 4π cosmic‐ray exposure (CRE) age of 5 ± 1 Myr, whereas elevated 21Ne concentrations in several clasts and bulk samples indicate a previous CRE of 10–30 Myr on the parent body, most probably as individual components in a regolith. Unlike many other large chondrites, NWA 869 does not show clear evidence of CRE as a large boulder near the surface of its parent body. Radiogenic 4He concentrations in most NWA 869 samples indicate a major outgassing event approximately 2.8 Gyr ago that may have also resulted in loss of solar helium.  相似文献
