We have studied shock in magnetized accretion flow/funnel flow in case of neutron star with bremsstrahlung cooling and cyclotron cooling. All accretion solutions terminate with a shock close to the neutron star surface, but at some regions of the parameter space, it also harbours a second shock away from the star surface. We have found that cyclotron cooling is necessary for correct accretion solutions which match the surface boundary conditions.  相似文献

The self-similar flow of a gas, moving under the gravitational attraction of a central body of fixed mass behind a spherical shock wave driven out by a propelling contact surface into quiet solar wind region, is investigated. The total energy content between the inner expanding surface and the shock front increases with time. In the last section we briefly pose the self-similar isothermal flow of a gas behind a spherical shock wave.  相似文献

Similarity solutions describing the isothermal flow of a perfect gas behind shock waves are investigated for spherical symmetry. The flow is caused by a propelling contact surface (or expanding piston) and its total energy increases as a power of the time. The shock is propagating in a medium at rest with a uniform density.  相似文献

Self-similar flows of self-gravitating gas behind a spherical shock wave which are driven out by a propelling contact surface, propagating in a nonuniform atmosphere at rest, are investigated. The total energy content of the flow between a shock front and contact surface is taken to be time-dependent. In brief, the self-similar homothermal flows of self-gravitating gas behind a shock wave and Roche's model case are also studied in the present paper.  相似文献

This article applies nonstandard analysis to derive jump conditions for one-dimensional, diverging, magnetogasdynamic shock waves emerging on the surface of a star. It is assumed that the shock thickness occurs on an infinitesimal interval and the jump functions for the flow parameters occur smoothly across this interval. Predistributions of the Heaviside function and the Dirac delta measure are used to model the flow variables across a shock wave. The equations of motion expressed in nonconservative form are then applied to derive unambiguous relationships between the jump functions for the flow parameters. It is shown here that the equations modeling a family of magnetogasdynamic shock waves yield products of generalized functions that may be analyzed consistently using nonstandard predistributions.  相似文献

The propagation of a magnetogasdynamic shock wave originating in a stellar interior, is ocnsidered when it approaches the surfaces of the star. The flow behind the shock wave is assumed isothermal rather than adiabatic to stimulate the conditions of large radiative transfer near the stellar surface. The product solution of McVittie has been used to obtain exact solution of the problem. It has been obtained that velocity, density, pressure and magnetic field increases as we move from shock surface towards the nucleus of the star.  相似文献

Self-similar solutions for adiabatic and isothermal flows driven out by a propelling contact surface, moving into a quiet solar wind region, are investigated in the presence of magnetic field. The total energy of the flow between the shock and the contact surface is taken to be time-dependent obeying a power-law. The shock is assumed to be strong and propagating into a perfect gas at rest with non uniform density and magnetic field.  相似文献

In this paper self-similar solutions have been investigated for the propagation of axisymmetric radiative gasdynamic shocks caused by an explosion into an inhomogeneous ideal gas permeated by a current free azimuthal magnetic field. The effects of radiation flux and magnetic field together have been seen in the region of interest on the other flow variables. The total energy of the flow between the inner expanding surface and the shock is taken to be dependent on shock radius obeying a power law. The radiative pressure and energy have been neglected.  相似文献

Because the solar wind (SW) flow is usually super-sonic, a fast-mode bow shock (BS) is formed in front of the Earth's magnetosphere, and the Moon crosses the BS at both dusk and dawn flanks. On the other hand, behind of the Moon along the SW flow forms a tenuous region called lunar wake, where the flow can be sub-Alfvénic (and thus sub-sonic) because of its low-density status. Here we report, with joint measurement by Chang’E-1 and SELENE, that the Earth's BS surface is drastically deformed in the lunar wake. Despite the quasi-perpendicular shock configuration encountered at dusk flank under the Parker-spiral magnetic field, no clear shock surface can be found in the lunar wake, while instead gradual transition of the magnetic field from the upstream to downstream value was observed for a several-minute interval. This finding suggests that the ‘magnetic ramp’ is highly broadened in the wake where a fast-mode shock is no longer maintained due to the highly reduced density. On the other hand, observations at the 100 km altitude on the dayside show that the fast-mode shock is maintained even when the width of the downstream region is smaller than a typical scale length of a perpendicular shock. Our results suggest that the Moon is not so large to eliminate the BS at 100 km altitude on the dayside, while the magnetic field associated with the shock structure is drastically affected in the lunar wake.  相似文献

A similarity solution for the flow variables behind a radiation-driven magnetohydrodynamic shock wave has been obtained. Owing to absorption of radiation incident on the shock layer, it is assumed that the total energy contained behind the shock surface is increasing. The ambient medium in which shock wave moves is non-uniform and it is optically thin so that there is no interaction with the incident radiation. A comparison has been made between the results with and without the magnetic field when the density and azimuthal magnetic field distributions are variable. While this paper was in press, Professor Verma passed away on 4 April 1985, without being able to read its proofs.  相似文献

This work treats the matter deceleration in a magnetohydrodynamic radiative shock wave at the surface of a star. The problem is relevant to classical T Tauri stars where infalling matter is channelled along the star's magnetic field and stopped in the dense layers of photosphere. A significant new aspect of this work is that the magnetic field has an arbitrary angle with respect to the normal to the star's surface. We consider the limit where the magnetic field at the surface of the star is not very strong in the sense that the inflow is super-Alfvénic. In this limit, the initial deceleration and heating of plasma (at the entrance to the cooling zone) occurs in a fast magnetohydrodynamic shock wave. To calculate the intensity of radiative losses we use 'real' and 'power-law' radiative functions. We determine the stability/instability of the radiative shock wave as a function of parameters of the incoming flow: velocity, strength of the magnetic field, and its inclination to the surface of the star. In a number of simulation runs with the 'real' radiative function, we find a simple criterion for stability of the radiative shock wave. For a wide range of parameters, the periods of oscillation of the shock wave are of the order of  0.02–0.2 s  .  相似文献

The study of standing accretion shock instability (SASI) in core-collapse supernova cores has been done with three-dimensional (3D) computer simulations. Rotations with various perturbations were introduced from outer boundary of an initial steady accreting flow. We found that one or two armed spiral accreting flow onto the proto-neutron star (PNS) is formed inside the shock wave depending on perturbations. The linear growth of spiral modes are clearly diagnosed by the mode analysis of the shock surface, and the lower m modes grow quickly in the linear regime.  相似文献

Self-similar flows of a perfect gas behind a cylindrical blast wave with radiation heat flux in the presence of an azimuthal magnetic field have been investigated. The effects of radiation flux and magnetic field together on the other flow variables have been studied in the region of interest. The magnetic field and density distribution vary as an inverse power of radial distance from the axis of symmetry. The electrical conductivity of the gas is taken to be infinite. The total energy of the flow between the inner expanding surface and the shock is assumed to be constant. We also have supposed the gas to be grey and opaque and the shock to be transparent and isothermal.  相似文献

Stellar winds from a binary star pair will interact with each other along a contact discontinuity. We discuss qualitatively the geometry of the flow and field resulting from this interaction in the simplest case where the stars and winds are identical. We consider the shape of the critical surface (defined as the surface where the flow speed is equal to the sound speed) as a function of stellar separation and the role of shock waves in the flow field. The effect of stellar spin and magnetic sectors on the field configuration is given. The relative roles of mass loss and magnetic torque in the evolution of orbital parameters are discussed.  相似文献

The stand-off shock formed in the accretion flow on to a stationary wall, such as the surface of a white dwarf, may be thermally unstable, depending on the cooling processes which dominate the post-shock flow. Some processes lead to instability, while others tend to stabilize the shock. We consider competition between the destabilizing influence of thermal bremsstrahlung cooling, and a stabilizing process which is a power law in density and temperature. Cyclotron cooling and processes which are of order 1, 3/2 and 2 in density are considered. The relative efficiency and power-law indices of the second mechanism are varied, and particular effects on the stability properties and frequencies of oscillation modes are examined.  相似文献

We compute the mass outflow rate R from relativistic matter that is accreting quasi-spherically on to the Schwarzschild black holes. Taking the pair-plasma pressure-mediated shock surface as the effective boundary layer (of the black hole) from where the bulk of the outflow is assumed to be generated, computation of this rate is done using combinations of exact transonic inflow and outflow solutions. We find that R depends on the initial parameters of the flow, the polytropic index of matter, the degree of compression of matter near the shock surface and the location of the shock surface itself. We thus not only study the variation of the mass outflow rate as a function of various physical parameters governing the problem, but also provide a sufficiently plausible estimation of this rate.  相似文献

Self-similar unsteady flows with zero temperature gradient behind strong spherical shocks propagating in non-uniform perfect gas at rest are investigated. The total energy of the flow is assumed to be varying with the shock radius obeying a power law. Approximate solutions in a closed analytical form are obtained using the integral method. Also these solutions are shown to be useful to calculate easily and quickly the shock temperature, X-ray surface brightness and luminosity which are important in astrophysical problems. It is found that these approximate solutions are in close agreement with numerical solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, the shock hodograph (polar) for a collisionless transverse shock has been developed in the plane of the flow deflection angle and total pressure jump. The sonic point on the hodograph lies closer to the characteristic than to the point of maximum flow deflection for an attached shock. This hodograph is particularly useful in the analysis of three shock confluences and refraction of shock waves at gas interfaces. The first analysis is fully described in this paper. It is observed that the third shock wave is forward facing. It is pertinent to note that the limited region of supersonic flow also restricts the occurrences of three shock interactions.  相似文献

We explore the global structure of the accretion flow around a Schwarzschild black hole where the accretion disc is threaded by toroidal magnetic fields. The accretion flow is optically thin and advection dominated. The synchrotron radiation is considered to be the active cooling mechanism in the flow. With this, we obtain the global transonic accretion solutions and show that centrifugal barrier in the rotating magnetized accretion flow causes a discontinuous transition of the flow variables in the form of shock waves. The shock properties and the dynamics of the post-shock corona are affected by the flow parameters such as viscosity, cooling rate and strength of the magnetic fields. The shock properties are investigated against these flow parameters. We further show that for a given set of boundary parameters at the outer edge of the disc, accretion flow around a black hole admits shock when the flow parameters are tuned for a considerable range.  相似文献
