In normal faulting regimes, the magnitudes and orientations of the maximum and minimum principal compressive stresses may be known with some confidence. However, the magnitude of the intermediate principal compressive stress is generally much more difficult to constrain and is often not considered to be an important factor. In this paper, we show that the slip characteristics of faults and fractures with complex or nonoptimal geometry are highly sensitive to variation or uncertainty in the ambient effective intermediate principal stress (σ2). Optimally oriented faults and fractures may be less sensitive to such variations or uncertainties. Slip tendency (Ts) analysis provides a basis for quantifying the effects of uncertainty in the magnitudes and orientations of all principal stresses and in any stress regime, thereby focusing efforts on the most important components of the system. We also show, for a normal faulting stress regime, that the proportion of potential surfaces experiencing high slip tendency (e.g., Ts ≥ 0.6) decreases from a maximum of about 38% where σ2 = σ3, to a minimum of approximately 14% where σ2 is halfway between σ3 and σ1, and increases to another high of approximately 29% where σ2 = σ1. This analysis illustrates the influence of the magnitude of σ2 on rock mass strength, an observation previously documented by experimental rock deformation studies. Because of the link between fault and fracture slip characteristics and transmissivity in critically stressed rock, this analysis can provide new insights into stress-controlled fault transmissivity.  相似文献

This study provides evidence for the existence of halite and sylvite solid inclusions in igneous quartz and feldspars, the first to be reported in intrusive rocks, and to partially constrain the physicochemical environment that lets halides crystallize under magmatic conditions.Halite and sylvite solid inclusions were found included in quartz and feldspars from a micrographic–granophyric assemblage in a miarolitic aplite and, rarer, in alkali-feldspar from a miarolitic monzogranite. Monzogranite and aplite represent I-type, K-enriched postcollisional rocks of the Late Cambrian–Early Ordovician Sierra Norte–Ambargasta batholith in the Eastern Sierras Pampeanas. Both granitoids fall among the most evolved felsic rocks of the batholith, with aplite approaching haplogranitic compositions. Halite is far more common than sylvite and the presence and distribution of one or both halides are erratic within the felsic intrusive bodies. Halides occur as small skeletal grains, commonly in cross-shaped aggregates of less than 50 μm. No K or Na was found at the detection limits of EDS in either halite or sylvite respectively. Textural relationships suggest that the alkali-chlorides separated from the melt near the minima along the quartz–feldspar cotectics of PH2O > 160 < 200 MPa in a silica-, and potassium-rich magmatic system at approximately 750–700 °C, prior to the H2O-vapor saturated miarole-forming stage.Computed ratios for the magmatic volatile phase (MVP) coexisting with melt at the early stage of aplite crystallization are: NaCl/HCl = 0.11–0.97 and KCl/HCl = 0.24–1.62, being the highest range of values (0.79–0.97 and 1.45–1.62, respectively) found in those alkali-chloride-bearing samples. Maximum HCl/ΣCl(MVP) (0.28 to 0.31) indicates higher total Cl concentration in the MVP of alkali-chloride-bearing aplites, which is much higher in the halite-free aplite samples (HCl/ΣCl(MVP) = 0.59 to 0.74). One miarolitic monzogranite sample, where halite solid inclusions are present, also yielded the highest ratios for NaCl/HCl(MVP) (0.91) and KCl/HCl(MVP) (1.46), and the HCl/ΣCl(MVP) is 0.30. A high HCl concentration in the fluid phase is suggested by the log f(HF)/f(H2O) = − 4.75 to − 4.95, log f(HCl)/f(H2O) = − 3.73 to − 3.86, and log f(HF)/f(HCl) = − 0.88 to − 1.22, computed at 750 °C after biotite composition. The Cl concentrations at 800 °C, computed with a Dv/lCl = 0.84 + 26.6P (P at 200 MPa), yielded values within the range of  70 to 700 ppm Cl in the melt and  4000 to 40 000 ppm Cl in the coexisting MVP. The preferential partitioning of Cl in the vapor phase is controlled by the Dv/lCl; however, the low concentration of Cl in the melt suggests that high concentrations of Cl are not necessary to saturate the melt in NaCl or KCl.Cl-saturation of the melt and coexisting MVP might have been produced by a drop in Cl solubility due to the near-haplogranitic composition of the granitoids after extreme fractionation, probably enhanced by fluctuating reductions of the emplacement pressure in the brittle monzogranite host. Liquid immiscibility, based in the differential viscosity and density among alkali-chloride saturated hydrosaline melt, aluminosilicate felsic melt, and H2O-rich volatiles is likely to have crystallized halite and sylvite from exsolved hydrosaline melt. High degrees of undercooling might have been important at the time of alkali-chloride exsolution. The effectiveness of alkali-chloride separation from the melt at magmatic temperatures is in line with the interpretation of “halite subtraction” as a necessary process to understand the origin of the “halite trend” in highly saline fluid inclusions from porphyry copper and other hydrothermal mineralizations, despite the absence of the latter in the Cerro Baritina aplites, where this process preceded the exsolution of halite-undersaturated fluids.Pervasive alteration of the monzogranite country rock as alkali-metasomatic mineral assemblages, the mineral chemistry of some species, and the association of weak molybdenite mineralization are compatible with the activity of alkaline hypersaline fluids, most likely exsolved during the earliest stages of aplite consolidation.  相似文献

This paper describes the geomechanical back-analysis of the flexural failure of an overhanging limestone slab (volume = 68 m3) that collapsed on 26/01/1999 on the abandoned Cellina Valley state road SS 251 (western Friuli, NE Italy). The survey carried out on site examining the contact surfaces between the block and the slope has ascertained that the rock slab was connected to the stable rock mass by means of a single great rock bridge. The detailed reconstruction of the slab geometry and of the actual restraint conditions acting before the rockfall permitted an estimation of the stress state by using a 3D finite element code (Strand7). The finite element numerical model, referred to the restrained cross-section measured on site (Ares = 2.82 m2), gives a maximum value of σt = 5.19 MPa for the tensile stress, which is in good agreement with the estimated value for the characteristic strength mobilized at rupture by the intact rock material (T0 = 3.5–5.5 MPa). Considerably lower maximum tensile stress (σt = 2.25 MPa), smaller than one half, is obtained if the whole contact surface is assumed as resisting surface (Ares = 10.50 m2) and the rock bridge is neglected.  相似文献

A recent note by De Paor (1980) suggests that finite strain cannot be decomposed into tectonic and compaction components on the basis of asymmetry of the Rfφ data about the mean φ trace. This is true if only the shape of the Rfφ data field is considered, but shown to be incorrect when the distribution of data within this field is considered.  相似文献

Twenty-eight samples of peat, peaty lignites and lignites (of both matrix and xylite-rich lithotypes) and subbituminous coals have been physically activated by pyrolysis. The results show that the surface area of the activated coal samples increases substantially and the higher the carbon content of the samples the higher the surface area. The adsorption capacity of the activated coals for NO, SO2, C3H6 and a mixture of light hydrocarbons (CH4, C2H6, C3H8 and C4H10) at various temperatures was measured on selected samples. The result shows a positive correlation between the surface area and the gas adsorption. In contrast, the gas adsorption is inversely correlated with the temperature. The maximum recorded adsorption values are: NO = 8.22 × 10− 5 mol/g at 35 °C; SO2 = 38.65 × 10− 5 mol/g at 60 °C; C3H6 = 38.9 × 10− 5 mol/g at 35 °C; and light hydrocarbons = 19.24 × 10− 5 mol/g at 35 °C. Adsorption of C3H6 cannot be correlated with either NO or SO2. However, there is a significant positive correlation between NO and SO2 adsorptions. The long chain hydrocarbons are preferentially adsorbed on activated lignites as compared to the short chain hydrocarbons. The results also suggest a positive correlation between surface area and the content of telohuminite maceral sub-group above the level of 45%.  相似文献

A statistical analysis for the Rf/φ method is developed in the paper. The technique provides estimates of Rs, Ri and θ according to Rf and φ. Moreover, we can restore the pattern of initial orientations of marker objects by means of their frequency histogram, provided the strain is homogeneous. It is unnecessary to postulate random initial orientations if the principal directions of strain ellipsoid are known.  相似文献

Mercury contents in Precambrian banded iron formation-hosted hematite ores are virtually unknown. In an attempt to provide information on the abundance and distribution of Hg in Fe ore, we present analyses for Hg in samples of high-grade soft hematite ore from Gongo Soco, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Bulk samples contain from <  5 to 25  ppb Hg without obvious correlation with major elements. Granulometric fractions of follow-up samples have amounts of Hg from 6 to 48  ppb and display positive linear correlations with total Mn as MnO (r = 0.87), LOI (r = 0.87) and SiO2 (r = 0.76), as well as a negative linear correlation with total Fe as Fe2O3 (r = −  0.87). The correlations suggest that Hg is associated with a hydrated ferruginous groundmass bearing residual Mn, Al and Si, which replaced gangue minerals in itabirite in the process of formation of the Gongo Soco soft hematite ore.  相似文献

The degree of isotopic variation in fossil organic matter renders bulk δ13C signatures strongly influenced by molecular isotopic heterogeneity. For example, in fossil wood the relative abundance of less depleted 13C moieties, i.e. preserved 13C enriched polysaccharides versus the relatively 13C depleted lignin moieties, can be seen to significantly bias δ13Cfossil wood values. Moreover the variation in δ13C values of specific compounds within fossil material are themselves highly variable and reflect the heterogeneity in isotopic values of different carbon atoms within individual compounds. For studies using δ13C values of fossil plant material as proxies (e.g., for δ13Cpalaeoatmosphere, δ13Cbiomass) it is recommended that the biases introduced through molecular heterogeneity, preservation type and taxonomic status of the fossil material are determined initially. Biases inherent in the bulk signature can then be reduced, rendering this value more robust. Alternatively, compound specific stable carbon isotope measurements of individual moieties preserved through geological time might prove to be an alternative proxy for monitoring changes in the bulk δ13C value of the plant and might reveal atmospherically induced trends.  相似文献

Four different types of parageneses of the minerals calcite, dolomite, diopside, forsterite, spinel, amphibole (pargasite), (Ti–)clinohumite and phlogopite were observed in calcite–dolomite marbles collected in the Kimi-Complex of the Rhodope Metamorphic Province (RMP). The presence of former aragonite can be inferred from carbonate inclusions, which, in combination with an analysis of phase relations in the simplified system CaO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–CO2 (CMAS–CO2) show that the mineral assemblages preserved in these marbles most likely equilibrated at the aragonite–calcite transition, slightly below the coesite stability field, at ca. 720 °C, 25 kbar and aCO2 ~ 0.01. The thermodynamic model predicts that no matter what activity of CO2, garnet has to be present in aluminous calcite–dolomite-marble at UHP conditions.  相似文献

Reactions of CO2 with carbonate and silicate minerals in continental sediments and upper part of the crystalline crust produce HCO3 in river and ground waters. H2SO4 formed by the oxidation of pyrite and reacting with carbonates may produce CO2 or HCO3. The ratio, ψ, of atmospheric or soil CO2 consumed in weathering to HCO3 produced depends on the mix of CO2 and H2SO4, and the proportions of the carbonates and silicates in the source rock. An average sediment has a CO2 uptake potential of ψ = 0.61. The potential increases by inclusion of the crystalline crust in the weathering source rock. A mineral dissolution model for an average river gives ψ = 0.68 to 0.72 that is within the range of ψ = 0.63 to 0.75, reported by other investigators using other methods. These results translate into the CO2 weathering flux of 20 to 24 × 1012mol/yr.  相似文献

Glide systems of hematite single crystals in deformation experiments   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The critical resolved shear stresses (CRSSs) of hematite crystals were determined in compression tests for r-twinning, c-twinning and {a}<m>-slip in the temperature range 25 °C to 400 °C, at 400 MPa confining pressure, and a strain rate of 10− 5 s− 1 by Hennig-Michaeli, Ch., Siemes, H., 1982. Experimental deformation of hematile crstals betwen 25 °C and 400 °C at 400 MPa confining pressure. In: Schreyer, W. (Ed.) High Pressure Research in Geoscience, Schweizerbart'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung, Stuttgart, p. 133–150. In the present contribution newly performed experiments on hematite single crystals at temperatures up to 800 °C at strain rates of 10− 5 s− 1 and 300 MPa confining pressure extends the knowledge about the CRSS of twin and slip modes. Optical observations, neutron diffraction goniometry, SEM forescatter electron images and electron backscatter diffraction are applied in order to identify the glide modes. Both twinning systems and {a}<m>-slip were confirmed by these methods. Besides the known glide systems the existence of the (c)<a>-slip system could be stated. Mechanical data establish that the CRSS of r-twinning decreases from 140 MPa at 25 °C to  5 MPa at 800 °C and for {a}<m>-slip from > 560 MPa at 25 °C to  40 MPa at 700 °C. At room temperature the CRSS for c-twinning is around 90 MPa and at 600 °C  60 MPa. The data indicate that the CRSSs above 200 °C seem to be between the values for r-twinning and {a}<m>-slip. For (c)<a>-slip only the CRSS at 600 °C could be evaluated to  60 MPa. Exact values are difficult to determine because other glide systems are always simultaneously activated.  相似文献

The intraplate volcanic suite of the Chaîne des Puys (French Massif Central) shows a complete petrologic range, from alkali basalts to trachytes. The significant variations of trace elements and radiogenic isotopes along the series strongly support the occurrence of crustal assimilation associated with fractional crystallization (AFC). The least contaminated basalts are clearly related to a HIMU-type reservoir (206Pb/204Pb > 19.6; 87Sr/86Sr < 0.7037; εNd > + 4). The behavior of radiogenic isotopes suggests that the most likely crustal contaminants are meta-sediments located in the lower crust. The Li isotopic compositions of the lavas range from high δ7Li (> + 7‰) in basalts to lighter values in more evolved lavas (down to δ7Li ≈ 0‰). The mantle component, expressed in the least evolved lavas, has a heavy Li isotopic signature, in good agreement with previous δ7Li measurements of OIB lavas with HIMU affinities. The evolution of Li isotopic compositions throughout the volcanic series is in agreement with the AFC model suggested by the Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic systems. Although the behavior of Li isotopes during assimilation processes is currently poorly constrained, our calculations suggest that at least a portion of the lower crust beneath the Chaîne des Puys is characterized by a light Li isotopic composition (δ7Li < − 5‰).  相似文献

Keilite (Fe>0.5,Mg<0.5)S, the iron-dominant cubic analog of niningerite, (Mg>0.5,Fe<0.5)S, occurs in enstatite chondrites [Shimizu, M., Yoshida, H., Mandarino, J.A., 2002. The new mineral species keilite, (Fe,Mg)S, the iron-dominant analog of niningerite. Can. Mineral. 40, 1687–1692]. I find that keilite occurs only in enstatite chondrite impact-melt rocks and impact-melt breccias. Based on the phase relations in the system MgS–MnS–CaS–FeS [Skinner, B.J., Luce, F.D., 1971. Solid solutions of the type (Ca,Mg,Mn,Fe)S and their use as geothermometers for the enstatite chondrites. Am. Mineral. 56, 1269–1296], I conclude that keilite formed from niningerite or alabandite (Mn>0.5,Fe<0.5)S by reaction with troilite (FeS) at elevated temperatures of well above 500 °C (the lowest equilibration temperature of keilite), but it is likely that the maximum temperatures during melting experienced by keilite-bearing impact-melt rocks and impact-melt breccias were considerably higher, perhaps >1500 °C, as indicted by the occurrence of euhedral enstatite that formed from a melt [McCoy, T.J., Dickinson, T.L., Lofgren, G.E., 1999. Partial melting of the Indarch (EH4) meteorite: a textural, chemical, and phase relations view of melting and melt migration. Meteorit. Planet. Sci. 34, 735–746]. Based on the classifications of the keilite-bearing meteorites as impact-melt rocks and impact-melt breccias and my own textural observations, I conclude that this elevated temperature was reached as a result of impact and not internal heating and melting, followed by fast cooling, thus, quenching in keilite. Enstatite chondrite impact-melt rocks and impact-melt breccias that do not contain keilite may have been more deeply buried after impact and, hence, cooled slowly and were annealed so that FeS exsolved from keilite, concomitant with the formation of niningerite, alabandite or various (Mn,Mg,Fe) mixed sulfides.  相似文献

The Southern Uplands terrane is an Ordovician–Silurian back-arc/foreland basin emplaced at the northern margin of the Iapetus Ocean and intruded by granite complexes including Loch Doon (408.3 ± 1.5 Ma) during Early Devonian times. Protracted cooling of this 130 km3 intrusion recorded magnetic remanence comprising a predominant (‘A’) magnetisation linked to initial cooling with dual polarity and mean direction D / I = 237 / 64° (α95 = 4°, palaeopole at 316°E, 21°N). Subsidiary magnetisations include Mesozoic remanence correlating with extensional tectonism in the adjoining Irish Sea Basin (‘B’, D / I = 234/− 59°) and minority populations (‘C’, D / I = 106/− 2° and ‘D’, D / I = 199/1°) recording emplacement of younger ( 395 Ma) granites in adjoining terranes and the Variscan orogenic event. The ‘A’ directions have an arcuate distribution identifying anticlockwise rotation during cooling. A comparable rotation is identified in the Orthotectonic Caledonides to the north and the Paratectonic Caledonides to the south following closure of Iapetus. Continental motion from midsoutherly latitudes ( 40°S) at 408 Ma to equatorial palaeolatitudes by  395 Ma is identified and implies minimum rates of continental movement between 430 and 390 Ma of 30–70 cm/year, more than double maximum rates induced by plate forces and interpreted as a signature of true polar wander. Silurian–Devonian palaeomagnetic data from the British–Scandinavian Caledonides define a 430–385 Ma closed loop comparable to the distributed contemporaneous palaeomagnetic poles from Gondwana. They reconcile pre-430 Ma and post-380 Ma APW from this supercontinent and show that Laurentia–Baltica–Avalonia lay to the west of South America with a relict Rheic Ocean opening to the north which closed to produce Variscan orogeny by a combination of pivotal closure and right lateral transpression.  相似文献

We have studied the paleomagnetism of the middle Cretaceous Iritono granite of the Abukuma massif in northeast Japan together with 40Ar–39Ar dating. Paleomagnetic samples were collected from ten sites of the Iritono granite (102 Ma 40Ar–39Ar age) and two sites of its associated gabbroic dikes. The samples were carefully subjected to alternating field and thermal demagnetizations and to rock magnetic analyses. Most of natural remanent magnetizations show mixtures of two components: (1) H component, high coercivity (Bc > 50–90 mT) or high blocking temperature (Tb > 350–560 °C) component and (2) L component, relatively low Bc or low Tb component. H component was obtained from all the 12 sites to give a mean direction of shallow inclination and northwesterly declination (I = 29.9°, D = 311.0°, α95 = 2.7°, N = 12). This direction is different from the geocentric axial dipole field at the present latitude (I = 56.5°) and the typical direction of the Cenozoic remagnetization in northeast Japan. Since rock magnetic properties indicate that the H component of the Iritono granite is carried mainly by magnetite inclusions in plagioclase, this component probably retains a primary one. Thus the shallow inclination indicates that the Abukuma massif was located at a low latitude (16.1 ± 1.6°N) about 100 Ma and then drifted northward by about 20° in latitude. The northwesterly deflection is attributed mostly to the counterclockwise rotation of northeast Japan due to Miocene opening of the Japan Sea. According to this model, the low-pressure and high-temperature (low-P/high-T) metamorphism of the Abukuma massif, which has been well known as a typical location, would have not occurred in the present location. On the other hand, the L component is carried mainly by pyrrhotite and its mean direction shows a moderate inclination and a northwesterly declination (I = 42.8°, D = 311.5°, α95 = 3.3°, N = 9). Since this direction is intermediate between the H component and early Cenozoic remagnetization in northeast Japan, some thermal event would have occurred at lower temperature than pyrrhotite Curie point ( 320 °C) during the middle Cretaceous to early Cenozoic time to have resulted in partial remagnetization.  相似文献

The integration of new and published geochronologic data with structural, magmatic/anatectic and pressure–temperature (P–T) process information allow the recognition of high-grade polymetamorphic granulites and associated high-grade shear zones in the Central Zone (CZ) of the Limpopo high-grade terrain in South Africa. Together, these two important features reflect a major high-grade D3/M3 event at ~ 2.02 Ga that overprinted the > 2.63 Ga high-grade Neoarchaean D2/M2 event, characterized by SW-plunging sheath folds. These major D2/M2 folds developed before ~ 2.63 Ga based on U–Pb zircon age data for precursors to leucocratic anatectic gneisses that cut the high-grade gneissic fabric. The D3/M3 shear event is accurately dated by U–Pb monazite (2017.1 ± 2.8 Ma) and PbSL garnet (2023 ± 11 Ma) age data obtained from syntectonic anatectic material, and from sheared metapelitic gneisses that were completely reworked during the high-grade shear event. The shear event was preceded by isobaric heating (P = ~ 6 kbar and T = ~ 670–780 °C), which resulted in the widespread formation of polymetamorphic granulites. Many efforts to date high-grade gneisses from the CZ using PbSL garnet dating resulted in a large spread of ages (~ 2.0–2.6 Ga) that reflect the polymetamorphic nature of these complexly deformed high-grade rocks.  相似文献

Systematic geochronologic, geochemical, and Nd isotopic analyses were carried out for an early Paleoproterozoic high-K intrusive complex exposed in southwestern Tarim, NW China. The results provide a better understanding of the Paleoproterozoic tectonic evolution of the Tarim Block. Zircon U–Pb age dating indicates two Paleoproterozoic magmatic episodes occurring at ca. 2.41 Ga and ca. 2.34 Ga respectively, which were followed by a ca. 1.9 Ga metamorphic event. The 2.41 Ga granodiorite–adamellite suite shares characteristics of late to post-orogenic metaluminous A-type granites in its high alkalinity (Na2O + K2O = 7.6–9.3%), total REE (410–788 ppm), Zr (370–660 ppm), and Y (21.7–58.4 ppm) contents. εNd(t) values for the suite range from − 3.22 to − 4.71 and accordingly the Nd modal ages (T2DM) vary between 3.05 Ga and 3.17 Ga. Based on geochemical data, the 2.34 Ga suite can be subdivided into two sub-suites, namely A-type and S-type. However, both types have comparable Nd isotope compositions (εNd(t) ≈ − 0.41 to − 2.08) and similar narrow T2DM ranges (2.76–2.91 Ga).Geochemical and Nd isotopic data for the high-K intrusive complex, in conjunction with the regional geological setting, suggest that both the 2.41 Ga suite and the 2.34 Ga A-type sub-suite might have been produced by partial melting of the Archean mafic crust in a continental rift environment. The S-type sub-suite is thought to have formed by partial melting of felsic pelites and/or metagreywackes recycled from Archean crust (TTG?). Gabbro enclaves with positive εNd(t) value (2.15) have been found to be intermingling within the 2.34 Ga suite; ca. 2.34–2.36 Ga gabbroic dykes and adamellites have previously been documented in eastern Tarim. These observations indicate that the high-K intrusions may reflect the emergence of depleted mantle upwelling beneath the Tarim Block at that time. We suggest a three-stages model for the Precambrian crustal evolution in the Tarim Block: (1) the formation of proto-crust (TTG) by ca. 2.5 Ga, (2) episodes of felsic magmatism possibly occurring in continental rift environments at ca. 2.41 Ga and ca. 2.34–2.36 Ga, and (3) ca. 1.9 Ga metamorphism that may represent the solidification of the Precambrian basement of the Tarim Block.  相似文献

Marine black shales of the Lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation in southern China host Mo–Ni–platinum group elements (PGE) mineralization confined to a phosphate- and pyrite-rich stratiform body (max. 20-cm thick). The H/C atomic ratio, carbon isotopic composition, FTIR spectra of bulk organic matter, and spectra of extractable part of organic matter indicate similar sources and thermal evolution of organic matter in barren and mineralized black shales. The morphology and relative abundance of organic particles in barren and mineralized shales are different. In barren black shales, organic particles comprise only elongated bodies and laminae 2–10 μm across or elongated larger bodies (> 10 μm) with Rmax = 2.96–5.21% (Type I particles). Mineralized black shales contain Type I particles in rock matrix (90–95 vol%), small veinlets or irregular organic accumulations (Type II particles, 1–5 vol%) that display weak to well developed mosaic texture and a variable reflectance (Rmax = 3.55–8.65%), and small (< 1 to 5 μm) rounded or irregular Type III organic particles (1–4 vol%) distributed within phosphate nodules and sulphide rip-up clasts. Type III particles show similar reflectance as particles of Type I in rock matrix. Type I particles are interpreted as remnants of in situ bacterially reworked organic matter of cyanobacteria/algal type, Type II as solidified products or oil-derived material (migrabitumen), and Type III particles as remnants of original organic matter in phosphatized or sulphidized algal/microbial oncolite-like bodies. Equivalent vitrinite reflectances of Type I and III particles in barren and mineralized rocks are similar and correspond to semi-anthracite and anthracite. Micro-Raman spectra of organic particles in rocks display a wide belt in the area of 1600 cm− 1 (G belt) and approximately the same belt in the area of 1350 cm− 1 (D belt). The ratio of integrated areas of the two belts correlate with Rmax values. The Mo–Ni–PGE mineralized body is interpreted as to represent a remnant of phosphate- and sulphide-rich subaquatic hardground supplied with organic material derived from plankton and benthic communities as well as with algal/microbial oncolite-like bodies that originated in wave-agitated, shallow-water, nearshore environment.  相似文献

Agricultural grasses cover a major part of the land surface in temperate agro-ecosystems and contribute significantly to the formation of soil organic matter. Crop-derived lipids are assumed to be responsible for fast carbon turnover in soils. Differences in lipid distribution patterns between crops following C3 and C4 photosynthesis pathways have rarely been described, but could be useful for source apportionment of crop-derived input into soils or sediments. The distribution of long chain n-carboxylic acids (C22, C24, C26) reveals significant differences between crop plants following either the C3 or the C4 photosynthetic carbon fixation pathway. The plant compartments leaves, stems and roots of C4 plants contain relatively large proportions (> 40%) of n-C24 carboxylic acid when compared to C3 plants. These reveal larger relative proportions of n-C22 and n-C26 acids, whose relative abundance is subject to change between different plant compartments and during the growing season. The carboxylic acid ratio [CAR = n-C24/(n-C22 + n-C26) carboxylic acids] provides distinct ratios for C4 (> 0.67) and C3 crops (< 0.67) and can thus be used as a molecular marker for the differentiation of crop plant biomass. In combination with the bulk stable carbon isotopic composition (δ13C) the CAR can be used as a tool for the estimation of the C4 derived carbon proportion in soils or sediments.  相似文献

The analysis of ULF geomagnetic field measured at Teoloyucan station (Central Mexico, 11′35.735W, 19 44′45.100N, 2280 m height) is presented in an intermediate (± 15 days) and short time scale (the day of the EQ occurrence) in relation to 7 major earthquakes occurred in Mexico in 1999–2001. Local changes in the fractal dynamics of the magnetic field are found to be important: a pronounced fall of the fractal index is frequently observed prior to the main shock. The study of the ULF resonant structure recently discovered in the frequencies fR1 = 10.2−11.1 mHz and fR2 = 13.6−14.5 mHz reveals changes in their character probably related to the processes of the earthquakes preparation. The success of the observation of the mentioned anomalies (specially the fractal index decrease) strongly depends on how close is the station from the epicenter, and what is the magnitude of the earthquake.  相似文献
