Using a model-independent technique, we have reconstructed a one-dimensional strip distribution of the brightness over a stellar disk from observations of microlensing of a Galactic bulge star by a caustic of the binary gravitational lens OGLE-1999-BUL-23, obtained by the international PLANET group. The ill-posed inverse problem was solved using a regularization method taking into account the non-negativity of the brightness distribution. The radial brightness distribution was searched for on a compact set of convex-upward, monotonically non-increasing, non-negative functions, assuming that the source is circularly symmetrical. The reconstructed brightness distribution is compared with the results of model fitting and limb-darkening calculations based on models of stellar atmospheres.  相似文献

The narrow-band λ4244 Å continuum light curve of the eclipsing binary V444 Cyg, which has a Wolf-Rayet component, is interpreted assuming that the brightness distribution and absorption in the WN5 star's disk are monotonic, non-increasing, convexo-concave, non-negative functions. The convex and concave parts of these functions correspond to the core of the WN5 star and its extended photosphere and atmosphere, respectively. The radius and brightness temperature of the opaque core of the WN5 star are r WN5 core ? 4R and T br core >52000 K, respectively. The stellar wind is characterized by an accelerated radial outflow. Acceleration of the wind persists at large distances from the center of the star. A crude Lamers-law fit to the reconstructed velocity field in the wind yields an acceleration parameter β=1.58–1.82.  相似文献

The influence of close passages of galaxies on the shapes of disk galaxies and the distribution of stars in them is studied for several types of interactions in the framework of the restricted N-body problem. Depending on the conditions adopted, either two spiral density waves or ring structures are formed in the stellar disk of the galaxy. These structures can generate star formation fronts with the corresponding shape, as are observed in disk galaxies. Our calculations can also be applied to study the influence of the passage of a nearby star on a protoplanetary disk. The formation of ring structures there could specify the type of planet formation in the outer regions of the planetary system and the distribution of semimajor axes for the planetary orbits. We use the same model to study the generation and evolution of spiral density waves in the stellar disks of galaxies as a result of the recently found asymmetry of the gravitational potential in the massive dark haloes in disk galaxies. The dipole component of the gravitational field of the halo can continuously permanently generate the spiral structure in disk galaxies.  相似文献

A technique is proposed for the successive reconstruction of the branches of the strip brightness distribution for a quasar accretion disk via the analysis of observations of high magnification flux events in the multiple quasar images produced by a gravitational lens. The distribution branches are searched for on compact sets of nonnegative, monotonically nonincreasing, convex downward functions. The results of numerical simulations and application of the technique to real observations show that the solution obtained is stable against random noise. Analysis of the light curve of a high magnification event in image C of the gravitational lens QSO 2237+0305 observed by the OGLE group in summer 1999 has yielded the form of the strip brightness distribution in the accretion disk of the lensed quasar. The results are consistent with the hypothesis that the quasar disk was scanned by a fold caustic. The form of the strip distribution is consistent with the expected appearance of an accretion disk rotating around a supermassive black hole.  相似文献

We consider observable effects during the gravitational microlensing of stars of finite angular size with a given brightness distribution across their disks by exotic objects whose space-time environment is described with the NUT metric. We demonstrate that, under certain conditions, the microlensing light curves and chromatic effects due to the wavelength dependence of the disk brightness distributions can differ considerably from those observed for a Schwarzschild gravitational lens, so that their analysis can facilitate the identification of such objects.  相似文献

We present an analysis of a high-amplitude event in the flux curve of component A of the gravitational lens QSO 2237+0305 observed by the OGLE and GLITP groups in autumn 1999. Hypothesizing this event to be associated with microlensing of a fold caustic, we analyzed the observational data using a method for the successive reconstruction of branches of the one-dimensional strip brightness distribution across the source corresponding to positive and negative arguments. The search for the branches was carried out on compact sets of nonnegative, monotonically nonincreasing, convex downward functions. The resulting shape of the strip brightness distribution for the accretion disk of the quasar is in agreement with results obtained earlier via model fitting. Features in the lensing curve that could be associated with curvature of the caustic, nearness of a cusp, or the influence of nearby caustics are noted.  相似文献

An exact solution is found for the interaction of a rotating magnetic field that is frozen into a star with a thin, highly conducting accretion disk. The disk pushes the magnetic-field lines towards the star, compressing the stellar dipole magnetic field. At the corotation radius, where the Keplerian and stellar rotational frequencies are equal, a current loop appears. Electric currents flow in the magnetosphere only along two particular magnetic surfaces, which connect the corotation region and the inner edge of the disk with the stellar surface. It is shown that a closed current surface encloses the magnetosphere. The disk rotation is stopped at some distance from the stellar surface, equal to 0.55 of the corotation radius. The accretion from the disk spins up the stellar rotation. The angular momentum transferred to the star is determined.  相似文献

We present the results of simultaneous UBVRI photometry and polarimetry of the classical T Tauri star CO Ori carried out at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory during the 18 years between 1986 and 2004. We show that the variations of linear polarization accompanying the star’s brightness variations follow the law characteristic of UX Ori stars. This suggests that the brightness variations of the star are mainly due to changes of the circumstellar extinction due to non-uniform structure of the circumstellar environment, and to an “optimal” orientation of the circumstellar gas and dust disk relative to the observer, whose line of sight crosses the gas and dust atmosphere of the disk. We determine the star’s intrinsic polarization due to scattering of light in the circumstellar disk. The polarization position angle indicates the orientation of the disk’s symmetry axis in the plane of the sky. Our analysis of an archival light curve for CO Ori confirms the existence of a many-year cycle of photometric activity, suspected by us earlier. The refined period of this cycle is 12.4 years. The existence of such activity cycles of UX Ori stars testifies to considerable deviations of their circumstellar disks from axial symmetry, a reflection of either stellar binarity or the commencement of the process of planetary formation.  相似文献

We present our analysis of photometry for the FK Com star HD 199178 (V1794 Cyg). The V-band light curves are used to restore the distribution of temperature inhomogeneities on the stellar surface. The spots on the surface of HD 199178 are concentrated at two preferred longitudes separated by 0.5 in phase (180° in longitude). In addition to the quasi-periodic switching of the most active area between these two longitudes, which occurs in cycles of 2.1–2.4 or 4.1 years, we suspect that the two active areas moved toward each other across the stellar surface, possibly merging into a single formation. The detected cycle in the star’s brightness variations of about 8.0 years is also clearly visible in variations of the star’s spottedness. Themagnetic activity of the FK Com star HD199178 is in many ways similar to that observed for the prototype of this group.  相似文献

The activity of V410 Tau, a T Tauri star with periodic brightness variations, is studied. The evolution of spots on the star??s surface over 46 years is investigated by reconstructing inhomogeneities in the stellar surface temperature based on photometric measurements. Analysis of the distribution of filling factors f as functions of time and longitude on the star??s surface can be used to trace changes in the location of the dominant active area. In some cases, a second active area (longitude) separated by about 180° is detected. No reliable manifestations of switching of the positions of the active areas were detected. The position of the active area was stationary and the position of minimum brightness remained unchanged during a time interval of 4800 days (about 13 years), which ended by the end of 2002. Though the position of the brightness minimum remained virtually constant, the light-curve shape (asymmetry) and the spot ??outline?? in the reconstructed temperature maps exhibited variations. The star possesses considerable cool spots on its surface, whose fractional area is typically 32% and varies between 27% and 40%. Variations of the star??s brightness and spottedness on time scales of 4.8?C5.5 years are most prominent.  相似文献

A method for determining the radius of a star based on its effective temperature and surface gravity together with computations of the star’s structure and evolution is proposed. Rotating and nonrotating stellar models are considered, making it possible to take into account uncertainties associated with the lack of data on the rotational velocities of the stars considered. Each point of an evolutionary track is assigned a weight in accordance with the rate of the stellar evolution and the initial mass function. This enables a more correct estimation of the stellar radius. The method is used to calculate the radius corresponding to the effective temperature and surface gravity obtained from theoretical spectra derived from model stellar atmospheres. This makes it possible to calculate not only the color indices, but also the brightness of the star, enabling estimation of the distance to the star based on photometric observations. The method has been tested and its accuracy estimated using more than a hundred binaries and two dozen well-studied bright stars. The derived radius estimates for stars near the main sequence display systematic deviations that do not exceed 0.03%, and standard deviations for the relative errors below 3.87%. Data on well studied bright stars have enabled verification of the applicability of the method for the red giant branch, and hence proved the possibility of applying it in this densely populated area of the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram.  相似文献

We explore the hypothesis that the outer boundaries (“cutoffs”) of the stellar disks observed in many galaxies are determined by the condition of local gravitational (Jeans) stability for the gaseous protodisks at large galactocentric distances. The ratio of the surface density of the disk Σdisk to the critical value for Jeans instability Σcrit is computed for a number of galaxies, assuming that the gas velocity dispersion in the forming disk corresponded to its current thickness and that the disk itself is in a quasi-equilibrium state. The mean estimated stellar velocity dispersion in the vicinity of the cutoff (12 km/s) is close to the typical velocity dispersions of gaseous clouds in disk galaxies. At greater distances, such velocity dispersions should ensure gravitational stability of the disk both at the present epoch and in the past. The cutoff radius of the disk R cut is correlated with other disk parameters, and the ratio Σdiskcrit at R cut is close to unity in most cases. We conclude that the available observational data agree well with the hypothesis that stellar disk cutoffs are due to a rapid decrease in the star-formation rate beyond R cut, where the gaseous disk has always been stable.  相似文献

Spectroscopic observations of three lenticular (S0) galaxies (NGC 1167, NGC 4150, and NGC 6340) and one SBa galaxy (NGC 2273) have been taken with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences aimed to study the structure and kinematic properties of early-type disk galaxies. The radial profiles of the stellar radial velocities and the velocity dispersion are measured. N-body simulations are used to construct dynamical models of galaxies containing a stellar disk, bulge, and halo. The masses of individual components are estimated formaximum-mass disk models. A comparison of models with estimated rotational velocities and the stellar velocity dispersion suggests that the stellar disks in lenticular galaxies are “overheated”; i.e., there is a significant excess velocity dispersion over the minimum level required to maintain the stability of the disk. This supports the hypothesis that the stellar disks of S0 galaxies were subject to strong gravitational perturbations. The relative thickness of the stellar disks in the S0 galaxies considered substantially exceed the typical disk thickness of spiral galaxies.  相似文献

The physical properties of young stellar objects are studied as functions of the initial spatial distributions of the gas surface density Σ and angular velocity Ω in pre-stellar cores using numerical hydrodynamic simulations. Two limiting cases are considered: spatially homogeneous cores with Σ = const and Ω = const and centrally concentrated cores with radius-dependent densities Σ ∝ r −1 and Ω ∝ r −1. The degree of gravitational instability and protostellar disk fragmentation is mostly determined by the initial core mass and the ratio of the rotational to the gravitational energy, and depends only weakly on the initial spatial configuration of pre-stellar cores, except for the earliest stages of evolution, when models with spatially homogeneous cores can be more gravitationally unstable. The accretion of disk matter onto a protostar also depends weakly on the initial distributions of Σ and Ω, with matter from the collapsing core falling onto the disk at a rate that is slightly higher in models with spatially homogeneous cores. An appreciable dependence of the disk mass, disk radius, and the disk-to-protostar mass ratio on the initial density and angular velocity profiles of the parent core is found only for class 0 young objects; this relationship is not systematic in the later I and II stages of stellar evolution. The mass of the central protostar depends weakly on the initial core configuration in all three evolutionary stages.  相似文献

The photometric variability of the uniqueMdwarf flare star GJ 1243 (KIC 9726699) is investigated using the most complete set of observationalmaterial obtained with the Kepler Space Telescope. The analysis is based on 49 487 individual brightness measurements obtained during an interval of 1460 days (nearly four years). The periodicity of the brightness variations with the period Pphot = 0.59261 ± 0.00060d is confirmed. The temperature inhomogeneities on the stellar surface reconstructed from the light curve are used to drive maps of these surface-temperature inhomogeneities (of the filling factor f). The resulting maps are used to determine the positions of active regions. Analysis of the surface-temperature maps for GJ 1243 led to the conclusion that the positions of spots on the stellar surface displayed appreciable evolution during the analyzed time interval. The maximum value for the lower limit on the differentialrotation parameter ΔΩ is 0.0022 rad/day. This more accurate estimate of ΔΩ is lower than the values presented earlier by Davenport et al. [1] (0.0058 and 0.0036 rad/day), due to the more accurate account of variations in the positions of the most active longitude in the current study. However, the differentialrotation estimate obtained in [1] using a method based on fitting the evolution of spots using twodimensional Gaussian functions essentially coincides with the new estimate presented here. The fractional area of the total spotted surface S of the star during the observing interval considered varied from 7 to 2%. The amplitude of the brightness variability of the star slowly decreased, varying in the range 1.6?0.5%. Overall, the position of GJ 1243 in spottedness–age, spottedness–rotation period, and spottedness–Rossby number diagrams agrees very well with the general character of the dependences displayed in earlier studies of M dwarfs.  相似文献

Numerical simulations of gas-dynamical processes taking place in the accretion disk of a stellar binary system are presented. The initial state of the disk is an equilibrium gaseous configuration. Mechanisms for the development of spiral waves and associated variations in the angular momentum of the gas are considered. The influence of the ratio of the binary-component masses and the initial disk configuration are investigated. It is concluded that the existence of a steady-state disk is impossible without a flow of gas from the donor star.  相似文献

A (2+ 1)-dimensional numerical model for the formation and evolution of young stellar objects with sub-solar masses is presented. The numerical hydrodynamicall code describing the formation and evolution of a pølar disk in a two-dimensional approximation is supplemented by one-dimensional code for the evolution of the star and an algorithm for establishing the vertical structure of the disk. This code is used to investigate the influence of luminosity bursts with intensities similar to those observed in FU Orionis objects (FUors) on the properties and thermal balance of pølar disks. A model with gravitational instability and fragmentation of the disk, with subsequent migration of the fragments onto the protostar, is used as a basic model for FUors. Typical FUor bursts (L ~ 100 L ) can appreciably influence the thermal balance of their disks and parent envelopes, leading to an increase in the disk temperature by more than a factor of two. On the other hand, massive fragments in the disk are only weakly perturbed by such bursts, partially due to screening by the disk and partially due to their high temperature brought about by adiabatic heating. Apart from massive fragments, the characteristic thermal time scales are appreciably shorter than the dynamical time scales throughout the radial extent of the disk and envelope; this enables the use of a stationary radiative-transfer equation when determining the vertical structure of the disk.  相似文献

We present BVRI surface photometry of the late-type spiral galaxy NGC 3627. The distributions of the color indices and extinction-independent Q indices show that the observed photometric asymmetry in the inner part of the galaxy, including the bar, is due to an asymmetric distribution of absorbing material. The bluest regions of star formation are located in a ring surrounding the bar. The background-subtracted color indices of individual blue knots are used to estimate the ages of young stellar aggregates. In combination with previously published photometric data, our measurements indicate that the R-band profile of the disk is rather flat in its inner part (r<50″) and becomes steeper further from its center. We estimate the mass of the disk and dark halo by decomposing the rotation curve. The mass-to-light ratio M/L B for the stellar disk is ≈1.4. The galaxy possesses a massive dark halo; however, the mass of the disk exceeds that of the halo in the inner part of the galaxy, which displays a regular spiral structure.  相似文献

Continuous photometric observations of the young active solar-type star Corot-Exo-2a using the “Corot” space telescope obtained over 142 days were used to analyze the star’s surface temperature inhomogeneities and to monitor their continuous evolution. This analysis was based on the iPH code, which reconstructs the distribution of temperature inhomogeneities on the surface of a star based on its light curve in a two-temperature approximation. We identified five time intervals in the positions of active areas, with corresponding flip-flop events, interpreted as activity periods. Their durations were between 55 and 15 days. The time scale for the active-longitude flip-flops of Corot-Exo-2a is a few tens of days, rather than years, as for other stars studied earlier. We detected motions of the active longitudes, possibly indicating differential rotation of the star. The phenomenon of flip-flops in the positions of active longitudes has a complex character. This is the first case apart fromthe Sun where we are able to follow the appearance and development of temperature inhomogeneities on a stellar surface in such detail. We determined typical timescales for variations of the activity parameter of the star in the ranges 17–20, 28–32, 33–38, and 51–55 days, which characterize changes of the brightness variation amplitude, the spotted surface area, positions of active areas, and brightness variations.  相似文献

A model for a uniform, gravitating, ellipsoidal star cluster moving in a circular orbit around the Galactic center is considered. Three independent isolated integrals of stellar motion are written for this model. The characteristic features of the motion of a cluster star according to these three integrals are analyzed. Retrograde stellar motions dominate at the periphery of the model cluster, and the distribution of the stellar velocities is elongated along the direction of the cluster motion. A phase-space density function that depends on two of the integrals of motion is constructed. The distribution of the stellar velocities is constructed for the case of a three-integral phase-space density. Possible applications of the results are discussed.  相似文献
