An analysis of 63 young active regions shows that they originate exclusively on the borders of the chromospheric cells. In most cases they do not produce pores or spots, but always arch filament systems and chromospheric faculae. The arch filament systems evolve along the cell border, they are rooted on the network and not in the interior of the chromospheric cells. The sub-photospheric magnetic flux seems to reach the photosphere in units of 1019 Mx. About 3 hr after the first arch filaments appear pores evolve on the cell border. The pores and spots are probably formed by local aggregations of the emerging flux tubes.Mitteilungen aus dem Fraunhofer-Institut Nr. 132.  相似文献

We present high-resolution observations of the large active region BBSO No. 1167 (Boulder No. 5060) which cast new light on the structure of sunspot regions. We obtained excellent data, highlighted by videomagnetograms (VMG) obtained with our 65-cm telescope, which give unprecedented spatial resolution, about 0.5' for much of two 11-hr periods. This permitted us to see details of the field evolution and flows in the AR. The H filtergrams and D3 filtergrams permit study of these magnetic changes compared to spots and chromospheric structure. The region was a huge but simple active region (CMP July 2, 1988) in which we observed rapid flux emergence for several days. Because the new flux generally matched the old, there were few large flares. However, there were 14 flares on June 28 and 29, mostly in two sites. The first site was a spot which already existed when the active region appeared on the east limb. This site showed little change of magnetic structure during our observing period. The second site is an area disturbed by new flux emergence, which included a spot which formed and disappeared in two days, and a rapidly moving p spot. Flares ocurring at one site almost always produced footpoints at the other. The delay between flash phases of the same flare at the two sites ranges from 40 to 160 s.The magnetograms show complex fine structure, with some closely interwined regions of opposite polarity. In a region of new flux emergence, positive (leading polarity) flux flows along elongated channels immersed in the negative flux. Moving magnetic features occur around all of the spots. We point out other interesting aspects of this large region: (1) While there is extensive penumbra around the main umbrae, there is also significant penumbra apparently unrelated to any spot. These unusual penumbrae are either due to flux returning to the surface, flux left behind by the moving umbra, or associated with pores that appear and disappear. (2) We observed umbrae to move faster than the accompanying penumbrae, and concluded that penumbrae are not a simple extension of the umbra. (3) We found that combining spots of the same polarity do not completely merge, but are always separated by a thin light bridge. This means that the emerging flux loops are discrete entities.  相似文献

In the present paper, H-evolutive curves of chromospheric events are compared with flux evolutive curves of X-ray events observed at the same time in different spectral regions. A correspondence between the emissions E(I H/I chr)'s at higher and higher H-intensity levels, and the X-ray fluxes F()'s in harder and harder -ranges is shown. Further, the present observations seem to indicate the existence of a single triggering mechanism during the flash-phase of a flare. It is also shown that these results may be in agreement with Brown's model for chromospheric flares.  相似文献

The observational set-up for a detailed study of the velocity, intensity and magnetic-field fine structure in and around a sunspot is described. On highly resolved spectra we detected in the vicinity of a sunspot a large number of points with strong magnetic fields (magnetic knots). The magnetic field in these knots causes a striking decrease of the line depth (or a line gap after Sheeley, 1967). The properties of the magnetic knots are: (1) magnetic fields up to 1400 gauss; (2) diameter 1100 km; (3) coincidence with dark intergranular spaces; (4) generally downward material motion; (5) lifetime>30min; (6) estimated total number around an unipolar spot 2000; (7) combined magnetic flux comparable to the sunspot flux; (8) coincidence with Ca+ plages. For the smallest sunspots (pores) we obtained magnetic fields >1500 gauss. Hence a magnetic field of about 1400–1500 gauss appears to be a rather critical level for pore and spot formation. We found a large number of small areas producing line gaps without measurable magnetic field. These non-magnetic gap-regions coincide with bright continuum structures. Some aspects arising from the occurrence of hundreds of magnetic knots in an active region are discussed in the last section.Presently guest investigator at the Göttingen Observatory.Previously member of the High Altitude Observatory solar project at Sacramento Peak (Contract Nr. The results of the observations to search gamma-ray sources with the energy greater than 2×1012 eV, which were made in Crimean Astrophysical Observatory during the years 1969–73 are presented. A technique of the detection of the EAS Cerenkov flashes was used. The quality of the data obtained is analysed. The criteria for the selection of the data free from meteorological variations are considered. It was shown that two objects, namely, Cyg X-3 and Cas -1, may be the sources of high-energy gamma quanta. It is probable that the object with the coordinates =05h15m, =+1° is the source of gamma-rays as well. An unidentified object Cas -1 is variable: gamma-ray flux was observed twice — in Sepember–October 1971 and in December 1972. It is possible that the flux from Cyg X-3 has a period of 4.8 hr.

After being turned off in 1972 the OSO-5 satellite was reactivated during the summer of 1974 for one year. The University of Paris experiment designed to monitor the solar L flux operated almost perfectly during that period which occurred near a minimum in solar activity. This new set of data is presented here, showing that neither the total L flux nor the flux emitted at the center of the line correlate with the solar activity indices in the same manner as previously found at higher levels of activity. These new observations confirm that the solar L flux varies approximately by a factor of two from solar maximum to solar minimum.Furthermore, the lower boundary of the transition region seems to be strongly perturbated near solar minimum, since the flux variations observed at the center of the L line are drastically different from all those previously reported. This seems to be related to the presence of large coronal holes over the Sun.  相似文献

The conditions of stability of the constant libration solutions of the general three-bodies problem obtained by E. Routh through investigation of the linearized perturbed motion equations are analised. To the values of the masses of the three bodies which satisfy boundary conditions of the region of stability the locus of all corresponding centers of masses is laid down in accordance with. It occurs that this locus is a circle, its centre coinciding with the geometric centre of the trianglem 1, m2, m3 and its radius being a function of exponent in the law of attraction of the bodies. The motion may be stable only if the centre of masses of the bodies lies outside the circle mentioned above. In the case of the Newtonian law of attraction the radius of this circle equals 0,943 |rmax| where |rmax| is a distance of the vertex from the centre of the trianglem 1, m2, m3. Thus stability is possible (if it is generally possible) inside a very small region in this case.

It is demonstrated that the kinematic peculiarity of the early Sab galaxy NGC 4826 can easily be understood in terms of the Abelian Higgs (AH) model of spiral galaxies. A cylindrically symmetric AH vorto-source (-sink) with a disk-to-bulge ratio > 1 is discussed and the distributions of the diagonal components of the corresponding stress-energy tensorT are presented. It is argued that the sign-changing componentT could account for the existence of twocounter-rotating gas disks whilenegative values ofT imply inward gas motions as observed in the outer and transition regions of the galaxy.  相似文献

Daily surveys of the solar disc made at 2.8 cm wavelength over the period 1–13 November 1981, complemented by magnetograms and H filtergrams, are used to examine the relationship between sources of the slowly varying component of solar radio emission and properties of their host regions. Two classes of source are noted: diffuse and compact. Sources are designated compact when smaller than 40. The diffuse sources may be explained in terms of free–free thermal emission from trapped plasma in loops overlying the active region. The great majority of compact sources can be accounted for in terms of gyroresonance from thermal electrons in the strong magnetic fields overlying sunspots. A small minority are less amenable to this explanation. They are associated with magnetic complexity and dynamism, lie close to magnetic polarity reversals, and could be non-thermal. Microwave sources are an evolutionary feature common to all but the smallest active regions.  相似文献

The active region NOAA 6555 had several locations of highly sheared magnetic field structure, yet, only one of them was the site for all the five X-class flares during its disk passage in March 1991. The pre-flare observations of high-resolution H filtergrams, vector magnetograms and H Dopplergrams of the 2B/X5.3 flare on 25 March 1991 show that the flaring site was characterized by a new rising emerging flux region (EFR) near the highly sheared magnetic field configuration. The polarity axis of the emerging flux was nearly perpendicular to the pre-existing magnetic neutral line. The location of the EFR was the site of initial brightening in H. The post-flare magnetograms show higher magnetic shear at the flare location compared to the post-flare magnetograms, which might indicate that the EFR was sheared at the time of its emergence. As the new EFR coincided with the occurrence of the flare, we suggest that it might have triggered the observed flare. Observations from Big Bear Solar Observatory and Marshall Space Flight Center also show that there was emergence of new flux at the same location prior to two other X-class flares. We find that out of five observed X-class flares in NOAA 6555, at least in three cases there are clear signatures of flare-related flux emergence. Therefore, it is concluded that EFRs might play an important role in destabilizing the observed sheared magnetic structures leading to large X-class flares of NOAA 6555.  相似文献

Available information about the relative areas on the quiet and active parts of the sun covered with magnetic elements, together with theoretical results on the relation between the photospheric mechanical flux and the consequent coronal electron density, allows one to conclude that the mechanical flux generated in the photospheric magnetic elements is about seven times as large as the flux generated in non-magnetic regions.  相似文献

The flux-rope theory of solar magnetic fields is reviewed briefly and, together with the dynamo theory, compared with various observational results. Dynamo and related theories are based on fields controlled by the plasma, and it is shown that such fields cannot account for the strong surface fields or even emerge without becoming tangled. Observations which appear uniquely explicable in terms of powerful (4000 G), helically twisted flux ropes and their many twisted flux fibres (3×1018 Mx) are listed as follows. (i) Emerging magnetic flux is seen first as pairs of small, closely spaced flux concentrations whose motions suggest magnetic control to provide bipolar regions of extent105 km. The associated system of arch filaments rotates on the disk as would a series of emerging flux fibres twisted into a rope. (ii) Sunspots form by the accretion of pores and magnetic knots of like polarity, sometimes moving along curved paths between stationary elements of opposite polarity. (iii) Fluxes of1022 Mx in large sunspots must have been concentrated to strengths of4000 G before emerging, and also strongly helically twisted to avoid the flute instability. (iv) The trumpet-shaped flux-rope-fibre sunspot model (Figure 6) accounts readily for the phenomena of the moat convection, the sunspot energy deficit, the complex Evershed flow, penumbral filaments (flux 3×1018 Mx) and temporary light bridges. (v) Asymmetries in sunspot groups (in spot size, lifetime and proper motion) show that the spot fields are extensions of two submerged magnetic structures comprising strong fields. (vi) Sunspots decay by the loss of magnetic knots with strong fields and flux 5×1018 Mx. These must be isolated flux tubes, twisted to account for their stability. (vii) Flux fibres leaving a spot are prone to the kink instability, thus accounting for their sudden appearance in pairs, the transport of total flux several times that of the spot and net flux equal to that of the spot. (viii) Ephemeral active regions and X-ray bright points are explained similarly without invoking improbably huge quantities of new flux. (ix) Atmospheric structures show a high prevalence of helical twists (force-free fields) and rotary motions on all scales from spicules to large prominences. It is difficult to account for these twists unless they are present in emerging flux. (x) In and above the photosphere the flux fibres (3×1018 Mx) fray into loose associations of flux threads (3×1017 Mx) to provide a simple, selfconsistent model of the solar filigree and the chromospheric rosette (bush) with its group of mottles (spicules). (xi) Global patterns of surface and coronal magnetic fields reveal puzzling features such as the migration of large unipolar regions and the freedom from differential rotation of some structures. Submerged flux ropes peeling out of the Sun provide a starting point for explaining these effects. These results provide a strong case for the flux-rope theory against the entrenched dynamo theory, and suggest that more observations should be made of the above ten phenomena. Where possible, simultaneous observations should be made of Zeeman effects and of plasma distributions and velocity field seen in white light and spectral lines.  相似文献

Spectro-polarimetric observations of active regions were carried out in the spectral lines of Sii 10827.1 Å and Hei 10830 Å to study the three-dimensional magnetic field structure and associated plasma flow properties. Comparison of Sii and Hei magnetograms with the potential field model shows that a large fraction of the magnetic field is consistent with the potential field structure, by assuming that the height difference between the origin of the two lines is about 1200 km. The slope of the scatter plot between Sii and Hei magnetograms is 0.5, 0.76 in an emerging flux and a larger active region, respectively. These values are lower than the scatter plot slopes obtained from Kitt Peak photospheric and chromospheric magnetograms, in which case the corresponding values are 0.83 and 0.9, respectively. Considering the height difference between these two sets of chromospheric magnetograms, this implies that the magnetic field spreads out faster near the transition region heights. Dopplergrams obtained by determining the centroid of the asymmetric line profiles show that, in case of emerging flux region, the chromospheric upflow regions are located in the magnetic neutral line areas.  相似文献

Since 1986, we have made some improvements to the multichannel solar spectrograph at Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) step by step, and now we have developed and added to it a multichannel infrared imaging solar spectrograph. The original spectrograph can be used to observe simultaneously solar activity at 9 wave bands including Caii H and K line, Mgi b line, Hei D3 line and H through H. The newly developed infrared imaging spectrograph can work in three wavelengths, i.e., Hei 10830 Å, Caii 8542 Å, and H. We replaced plates in the original system with CCDs and placed an image reducer before each CCD in order to match the CCD pixel size. The dispersions for Hei 10830 Å, Caii 8542 Å, and H of the new imaging solar spectrograph are 0.0693 Å, 0.0767 Å, and 0.0754 Å per CCD pixel respectively, and each vertical CCD pixel represents 0.34 arc sec of solar disk. We can obtain the line-center and off-band intensities of the three lines and the intensities of continua adjacent to these lines through the new instrument. We can also acquire velocity maps and line profiles. Therefore, it is specially suitable for two-dimensional (2D) spectroscopic observations of solar flares and active regions. We carry out scanning observation by rotating the second mirror of the coelostat system. In this paper, we introduce the improvements we made and the new imaging solar spectrograph. Some observation results are also presented in this article.  相似文献
