岩墙群是深源岩浆浅侵位的产物,它可提供有关壳-幔演化的重要信息。通过华北北部大同早中生代碳酸岩-煌斑岩岩墙群、赤峰早中生代闪长玢岩岩墙群、林西中生代辉绿岩岩墙群、京北晚中生代双峰式岩墙群的对比研究,揭示了华北中生代存在的两次底侵作用及其相关的伸展作用。华北早、晚中生代岩墙群与晋北地区元古代岩墙群的初步对比,从一个侧面反映了华北壳幔的演变。  相似文献

The geometry and distribution of the clastic dykes of the Ono district, North Sacramento Valley are examined within stream sections. Five traverses along dry stream beds provide good exposure allowing the spacing, thickness and geometry of the dykes to be recorded. The spatial and thickness distribution of the dykes are considered using cumulative frequency plots, allowing a visual estimation of a best fit distribution. Dyke thickness conforms best to a log-normal distribution. There is also a characteristic minimum dyke thickness in a traverse and this is attributed to the minimum aperture that a fluid with sand clasts is able to exploit. Dyke spacing, however, shows a good correlation with a power-law distribution for four traverses, suggesting that there is a mechanistic control on the spatial distribution. Plotting dyke thickness against minimum dyke spacing reveals that thin dykes do not generally intrude in isolation. Unlike veins and igneous dykes, clastic dykes continue to provide preferential pathways for fluid flow, subsequent to their intrusion, thus inhibiting intrusion in the area surrounding a pre-existing dyke. A combination of this process and dyke branching provides the best model for the observed spatial and thickness distribution of clastic dykes seen in the Ono district, California.  相似文献

Thirteen samples from three cores and boreholes are examined using micromorphology to test existing interpretations of Late Quaternary sedimentary sequences from the Norwegian Channel, North Sea Fan and the North Sea Plateau. Previous studies have interpreted these sediments using arbitrary parameters as reflecting Late Weichselian subglacial and glacimarine conditions associated with the Scandinavian Ice Sheet and Norwegian Channel ice stream. This study develops existing micromorphological criteria to interpret the samples as reflecting specific processes of subglacial deformation and proximal and distal glacimarine sedimentation during and subsequent to the Last Glacial Maximum. The study concludes by outlining diagnostic criteria for the identification of these sediment types from core and borehole samples of other Quaternary sediments.  相似文献

A precise baddeleyite U‐Pb age of 2418 ± 3 Ma is reported for the westerly extension of the Binneringie Dyke in the south‐western Yilgarn Craton of Western Australia. The Binneringie Dyke is a member of the large and extensive Widgiemooltha dyke swarm that trends east‐west across the craton. This age is similar to ages of major dyke swarms In other Archaean Cratons and supports the hypothesis that dykes of the Widgiemooltha swarm are part of a worldwide Palaeoproterozoic mafic magmatic event at ca 2420 Ma.  相似文献

Linear aeolian bedforms are the most abundant bedform type in Earth's dune fields, and are very common in the Solar System. Despite their abundance, the long‐term development of these bedforms and its impact upon the resulting sedimentary architecture in the geological record is still poorly understood. The aim of this paper is to study the exposed record of an ancient linear megadune in order to discuss its development and the factors that impact the sedimentary architecture of aeolian linear bedforms. The outcrops of the ancient Troncoso Sand Sea (Barremian, Neuquén Basin, Argentina) provide a unique opportunity to study a preserved megadune record with an external body geometry that confirms its linear morphology. Architectural analysis reveals significant differences in cross‐stratified set bodies and bounding surfaces’ features and allows for the identification of three architectural complexes within the bedform's record. Analysis of deterministic models, sedimentary body relative chronology and distribution suggest that these architectural complexes result from distinctive phases in bedform development. It also clearly shows that construction of the megadune was achieved by expansion from a core, and that its development was characterized by sustained growth and strong longitudinal dynamics, without net accumulation. This study indicates how sustained bedform growth, rather than accretion, can be a critical factor conditioning linear bedform architecture towards a more ‘classic’ (bimodal bounding surface and cross‐bedding dip directions) concentric sedimentary architecture style. Furthermore, this research reveals how this style of architecture could only be relatively common in the geological record when related to bedform topography preservation.  相似文献

Field data on Cenozoic faults and the McMurdo dyke arrays in the Reeves Glacier–Mawson Glacier area, Victoria Land, Antarctica, allow us to support noncoaxial transtensional tectonics along the N–S-trending western shoulder of the Ross Sea. Dyke injection within a crustal-scale right-lateral strike-slip shear zone is testified by magma filled, tension gash-like arrangements within some master fault zones, and by the left-stepping arrangements of dykes in the intrafault zones. The noncoaxiality of deformation is shown by the re-activation of many dyke walls as right-lateral strike-slip faults. This suggests an increase in the strike-slip component over time along the western shoulder of the Ross Sea. Our data support the relevance of transtensional to strike-slip tectonics for triggering melting and controlling the geometry and modes of magma emplacement.  相似文献

广西大厂锡多金属矿床的形成与花岗岩关系密切,其中,花岗斑岩呈岩墙状产出,称为"东岩墙",主要分布于西矿带的铜坑—长坡锡矿(大厂锡矿主体矿山)的东侧。通过野外调研和室内岩石学分析表明,"东岩墙"不是单一的花岗斑岩岩墙,而是由近于南北向断裂破碎带的花岗斑岩岩墙、闪长玢岩岩墙和次玄武岩岩墙组成的多期次构造岩浆带。通过岩石化学分析认为,构成该岩墙的岩石属钙碱性-碱性岩浆系列,形成于岛弧及活动大陆边缘环境。"东岩墙"是一条导岩、导矿构造和贯穿大厂矿田的地质界线,其对两侧的矿床分布、矿化强度、矿床类型有明显控制作用。  相似文献

A Rb‐Sr age of 897 ± 9 m.y. is obtained for dolerite from the Stuart Dyke Swarm in the southern part of the Arunta Block, Northern Territory. The dyke swarm presents an older age limit for the unconformably overlying Heavitree Quartzite, basal formation of the Amadeus Basin sequence. This limit is consistent with all isotopic data with the exception of previously determined glauconite ages from the Vaughan Springs Quartzite, a correlative of the Heavitree Quartzite in the Ngalia Basin.  相似文献

对近几十年来岩墙群在构造环境、侵位模式、形成机制、岩相学、地球化学、同位素地质年代学、几何学和比较行星学等方面的研究成果进行了总结,为岩墙群的深入研究提供重要信息。岩墙群主要与伸展构造环境有关,是岩浆侵位事件(如地幔柱)造成上覆地壳形成裂隙系统,岩浆随后灌入而形成的。岩墙群的侵位模式主要有垂向和侧向两种,也可能是两种模式共同作用的结果。岩墙群的岩性多样,但主要是超基性-基性岩,说明其与深部岩浆作用密切相关。对岩墙群的地球化学研究可揭示岩浆事件的构造环境、岩浆演化过程以及源区特征。放射性岩墙群的几何学特征有重要的指示意义,其收敛中心被认为是地幔柱的中心位置。岩墙群是古陆重建十分重要的"契合点",对古陆重建研究十分有帮助。类地行星(金星)巨型放射状系统很可能是岩墙群系统,暗示了地球上也存在过这种完整的巨型放射状岩墙群系统。岩墙群对于古陆重建、地幔柱中心的指示、地幔源区示踪、火山机构以及区域岩浆演化的研究都有十分重要的意义,并将对地球科学的发展产生重要影响。  相似文献

As the majority of the data on Quaternary sediments from the North Sea Basin are seismostratigraphical, we analysed the Elsterian Swarte Bank Formation, the Late Saalian Fisher Formation and the Late Weichselian (Dimlington Stadial) Bolders Bank Formation in order to determine genesis and provenance. The Swarte Bank Formation is a subglacial till containing palynomorphs from the Moray Forth and the northeastern North Sea, and metamorphic heavy minerals from the Scottish Highlands. The Fisher Formation was sampled from the northern and central North Sea. In the north, it is interpreted as a subglacial till, with glaciomarine sediments cropping out further south. These sediments exhibit a provenance signature consistent with the Midland Valley of Scotland, the Eocene of the North Sea Basin, the Grampian Highlands and northeast Scotland. The Bolders Bank Formation is a subglacial till containing palynomorphs from the Midland Valley of Scotland, northern Britain, and a metamorphic heavy‐mineral suite indicative of the Grampian Highlands, Southern Uplands and northeast Scotland. These data demonstrate that there was repeated glaciation of the North Sea Basin during the Middle and Late Pleistocene, with ice sheets originating in northern Scotland. It has been suggested that extremely long subglacial bedforms (e.g. attenuated drumlins and mega-scale glacial lineations) record former areas of fast-flowing ice and that bedform elongation ratio is a useful proxy for ice velocity. Despite the availability of much data pertaining to the measurement and analysis of subglacial bedforms, these assumptions have rarely been explicitly addressed in detail. In this paper, we demonstrate that long subglacial bedforms (length:width ratios ≥10:1) are indicative of fast ice flow. Using satellite imagery, we mapped over 8000 lineaments associated with a highly convergent flow pattern near Dubawnt Lake, District of Keewatin, Canada. This flow pattern is unusual in that it displays a large zone of convergence feeding into a main 'trunk' and then diverging towards the inferred ice margin. The 'bottleneck' pattern is taken to record an increase and subsequent decrease in ice velocity and we analysed transverse and longitudinal variations in bedform morphometry. The main trunk of the flow pattern (down-ice of the convergent zone) is characterized by mega-scale glacial lineations of great length (up to 13 km) and high elongation ratios (up to 43:1). The down-ice variations in elongation ratio reflect exactly what we would expect from a terrestrial ice stream whose velocity increases in the onset zone passes through a maximum in the main trunk and slows down as the ice diverges at the terminus. It is suggested that any unifying theory of drumlin formation must be able to account for the association between long subglacial bedforms and fast ice flow, although it is not assumed that fast ice flow always produces attenuated bedforms. A further implication of this work is that many more ice streams may be identified on the basis of attenuated subglacial bedforms, radically altering our views on the flow dynamics of former ice sheets.  相似文献

The Norwegian Channel between Skagerrak, in the southeast, and the continental margin of the northern North Sea, in the northwest, is the result of processes related to repeated ice stream activity through the last 1.1 m yr. In such periods the Skagerrak Trough (700 m deep) has acted as a confluence area for glacial ice from southeastern Norway, southern Sweden and parts of the Baltic. Possibly related to the threshold in the Norwegian Channel off Jæren (250 m deep), the ice stream, on a number of occasions over the last 400 ka, inundated the coastal lowlands and left an imprint of NW‐oriented ice directional features (drumlins, stone orientations in tills and striations). Marine interstadial sediments found up to 200 m a.s.l. on Jæren have been suggested to reflect glacial isostasy related to the Norwegian Channel Ice Stream (NCIS). In the channel itself, the ice stream activity is evidenced by mega‐scale glacial lineations on till surfaces. As a result of subsidence, the most complete sedimentary records of early phases of the NCIS are preserved close to the continental margin in the North Sea Fan region. The strongest evidence for ice stream erosion during the last glacial phase is found in the Skagerrak. On the continental slope the ice stream activity is evidenced by the large North Sea Fan, which is mainly a result of deposition of glacial‐fed debris flows. Northwards of the North Sea Fan, rapid deposition of meltwater plume deposits, possibly related to the NCIS, is detected as far north as the Vøring Plateau. The NCIS system offers a unique possibility to study ice stream related processes and the impact the ice stream development had on open ocean sedimentation and circulation.  相似文献

The Walhalla-Woods Point Goldfield in southeast Australia is characterised by large gold deposits associated with a Late Devonian dyke swarm. The setting of this goldfield is unique because unlike the major gold deposits in Victoria, it occurs close to the eastern margin of the Western Lachlan Orogen, and highlights the disparities between the evolving phases of orogenic gold mineralisation in the Western Lachlan Orogen, and the contrasts between sediment hosted, dyke-associated and dyke-hosted gold mineralisation. This study integrates existing and new data from renewed mapping of the geology and geochemistry of three gold deposits near the township of Walhalla, in the historically important yet under-explored and under-researched Walhalla-Woods Point Goldfield. The ten highest yielding deposits within the goldfield are either hosted within, or adjacent to, intrusions of the Woods Point Dyke Swarm. This is due to the greater chemical reactivity of the calc-alkaline dykes, and the greater rheological contrast between the dykes and surrounding low-grade metasedimentary units, which allowed for the formation of dyke-hosted quartz breccia veins that are consistently favourable sites for gold mineralisation in the Walhalla Goldfield. This is in contrast to historical production, which concentrated on visible gold within the shear zone-hosted laminated quartz veins. Gold and As assay results have highlighted the increased levels of invisible gold disseminated along dyke margins in proximity to shear zones and quartz reefs. The high-yielding gold deposits hosted wholly by the dyke intrusions of the Woods Point Dyke Swarm are orogenic gold deposits, as they are not associated with elevated levels of Bi, W, As, Mb, Te and Sb, typical of intrusion-related gold deposits.  相似文献

In the Omagh Basin, north central Ireland, subglacial diamict ridges lie transverse to southwestward Late Devensian (ca. 23–13 ka) ice flow. These ridges (0.5–2.5 km long, 100–450 m wide, 15–35 m high), are similar morphologically to Rogen moraines, which have not been described previously from the British Isles. The crests of some transverse ridges are streamlined, cross-cut or overprinted by drumlins, whereas other ridges are unmodified and were not affected by later drumlinisation. At Kilskeery, west–east trending eskers overlying unmodified transverse ridges post-date drumlinisation (17–14 14C ka). Esker formation shows that the subglacial thermal regime changed from cold-based, favouring bedform preservation, to warm-based with meltwater flowing through enclosed subglacial channels. Patterns of flow-transverse-ridges and spatial variations in the degree of bedform modification record dynamic changes in regional subglacial environments during the last deglacial cycle. This ice-mass variability cannot be reconciled with current Irish glacial models, which are based on immobile ice centres and ordered stages of ice retreat. In a wider context, these changes in bedform patterns and basal ice regimes have a similar signature to millennial-scale ice-mass oscillations recorded by dated proxy evidence elsewhere in the amphi-North Atlantic. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The formative conditions for bedform spurs and their roles in bedform dynamics and associated sediment transport are described herein. Bedform spurs are formed by helical vortices that trail from the lee surface of oblique segments of bedform crest lines. Trailing helical vortices quickly route sediment away from the lee surface of their parent bedform, scouring troughs and placing this bed material into the body of the spur. The geometric configuration of bedform spurs to their parent bedform crests is predicted by a cross‐stream Strouhal number. When present, spur‐bearing bedforms and their associated trailing helical wakes exert tremendous control on bedform morphology by routing enhanced sediment transport between adjacent bedforms. Field measurements collected at the North Loup River, Nebraska, and flume experiments described in previous studies demonstrate that this trailing helical vortex‐mediated sediment transport is a mechanism for bedform deformation, interactions and transitions between two‐dimensional and three‐dimensional bedforms.  相似文献

The Archean basement in the northeastern part of the Kaapvaal craton is intruded by a large number of mafic dykes, defining three major dyke swarms, which collectively appear to fan out from the Bushveld Complex. Herein we present U–Pb baddeleyite ages for two of these dyke swarms, the northwest trending Badplaas Dyke Swarm and the east-west trending Rykoppies Dyke Swarm, and infer their correlation with tectonic events in the Kaapvaal craton. We also present a U–Pb baddeleyite age for a noritic phase of the Marginal Zone of the Rustenburg Layered Suite (Bushveld Complex).  相似文献

Recent high‐resolution aeromagnetic data have delineated an extensive swarm of undeformed northeast‐trending dolerite dykes in the southeastern Yilgarn Craton, known previously only from isolated exposures in surface mining operations. Owing to parallelism of the dykes to the Fraser Mobile Belt, the eastern segment of the Albany‐Fraser Orogen, the swarm is referred to here as the Fraser Dyke Swarm. Ion‐microprobe dating of baddeleyite from a granophyric segregation in the centre of one dyke yields a mean 207Pb/206Pb age of 1212 ± 10 Ma (95% confidence limits). The location of the Fraser Dyke Swarm, adjacent and parallel to the Fraser Mobile Belt, suggests that the dykes may have been emplaced into lines of weakness that originated during tectonic loading and downwards flexure of the craton margin. This is the first evidence of ca 1210 Ma mafic dykes and associated crustal‐scale extension in the southeast Yilgarn Craton, although the age is similar to those reported recently for dolerite and quartz diorite dykes in the central and southern part of the craton, suggesting that a genetic relationship may exist between intrusions in the two areas.  相似文献

The winter–spring transition is a dynamic time within the glacier system, because it marks a period of instability as the glacier undergoes a change in state from winter to summer. This period is normally associated with sudden pressure fluctuations resulting in hydrological instabilities within the subglacial drainage system. New data are presented from wireless multi-sensor subglacial probes incorporated within the till at Briksdalsbreen, Norway. Water pressure readings recorded a two-phase winter–spring transition. Event 1 occurred early in the year (December–January) and marked the start of activity within the subglacial environment following the winter. However, this did not result in any permanent changes in subglacial activity and was followed by a period of quiescence. Event 2 occurred later in the year in accordance with changing external weather conditions and the retreat of the snow pack. It was characterized by high-magnitude pressure peaks and diurnal oscillations in connected regions. The variations in sensor trends that followed this event suggested that a transition in the morphology of the subglacial drainage system had occurred in response to these pressure fluctuations. Event 2 also showed some similarities with spring events recorded at valley glaciers in the Alps. A conceptual model is presented associating the form of the winter–spring transition with respect to the location of the probes within connected and unconnected regions of the subglacial drainage system. These data provide further evidence for temporal and spatial heterogeneous subglacial drainage systems and processes. The identification and analysis of subglacial activity during the winter–spring transition can contribute to the interpretation of hydro-mechanical processes occurring within the subglacial environment and their effect on glacier dynamics.  相似文献

Determining the location and geometry of possible subglacial rifts in western Dronning Maud Land is a key element to address processes leading to early Gondwana break-up. However, previous geophysical investigations did not lead to unambiguous delineation of rift structures over this region. We interpret high-resolution airborne radar and aerogravity data to image subglacial rift structures. Subglacial topography, free-air and Bouguer gravity maps, coupled with 3D inverse gravity models, image a rift–rift–rift triple junction at the intersection of the Jutulstraumen ice stream and the Pencksökket glacier. These continental rifts were associated with alkaline and tholeiitic intrusions, minor dyke swarms and flood basalts of Jurassic age, but not with huge volumes of Karoo magmatism, such as that which characterizes the southern Africa conjugate margin. The western Dronning Maud Land triple junction may be linked to the Karoo mantle plume and represents an early stage of magmatism and rifting during Gondwana break-up.  相似文献

对河北牛圈银(金)矿区细粒钾长花岗岩株和含矿隐爆角砾岩墙钾长石样品进行了详细的40Ar/39Ar同位素年龄测定。细粒钾长花岗岩株钾长石样品主要加热阶段所获得数据构成一条相关性很好的直线,其对应的同位素等时线年龄值为(216.6±3.2)Ma(2σ),40Ar/39Ar初始比值为297±28。相比之下,含矿隐爆角砾岩墙钾长石样品特定加热阶段(1200~1300℃和1360~1450℃)所获数据同样也构成两条直线,其对应的同位素等到时线年龄值分别为(227.9±4.8)Ma(2σ)和(216.7±6.1)Ma(2σ),40Ar/39Ar初始比值分别为307±41和269±39。考虑到所测样品均采自未受到明显后期构造-岩浆活动或其他热事件影响的岩(矿)体,因此,细粒钾长花岗岩株和含矿隐爆角砾岩墙的形成时代为216Ma,与印支期富钾岩浆作用具有密切成因联系。根据含矿隐爆角砾岩墙的野外地质证据,结合矿物共生组合关系和钾长石同位素年龄数值,可以推测牛圈银(金)矿区早期成矿作用发生在(227.9±4.8)Ma,而主要成矿期为(216.7±6.1)Ma,是印支期多阶段富碱质成矿流体活动的产物。牛圈银(金)矿区成矿作用时间的厘定对于提高该区成矿理论研究水平和寻找隐伏金属矿床均具重要意义。  相似文献
