We have ascertained an important role of rotation effects in a collapsing stellar core using a quasi-one-dimensional hydrodynamic model with a rigorous allowance for the neutrino energy losses including the neutrino opacity stage. However, the neutrino scattering processes are not considered in the neutrino emission kinetics as secondary compared to the absorption processes. The quasi-one-dimensional approximation (with averaging of the expression for the centrifugal force over the polar angle) allows numerical calculations to be performed relatively easily up to the formation of a hydrostatically equilibrium neutron star after a very long stage of collapsar cooling by neutrino emission (about 2 s). We present detailed results of our numerical solution, including the neutrino spectra, with electron neutrinos making a dominant contribution to them and the contribution from electron antineutrinos being smaller by an order of magnitude. In the model under consideration, we solve the equation of matter neutronization kinetics by taking into account the main process of nuclear reactions on free nucleons, although the contribution from iron and helium nuclei is included in the equation of state.  相似文献

We explore semicomplete self-similar solutions for the polytropic gas dynamics involving self-gravity under spherical symmetry, examine behaviours of the sonic critical curve and present new asymptotic collapse solutions that describe 'quasi-static' asymptotic behaviours at small radii and large times. These new 'quasi-static' solutions with divergent mass density approaching the core can have self-similar oscillations. Earlier known solutions are summarized. Various semicomplete self-similar solutions involving such novel asymptotic solutions are constructed, either with or without a shock. In contexts of stellar core collapse and supernova explosion, a hydrodynamic model of a rebound shock initiated around the stellar degenerate core of a massive progenitor star is presented. With this dynamic model framework, we attempt to relate progenitor stars and the corresponding remnant compact stars: neutron stars, black holes and white dwarfs.  相似文献

The effects of uncertainties in determining the loss of neutrinos and the generation of entropy during the collapse of a stellar core are studied using a simple spherically-symmetric homologous collapse model with an improved treatment for the excited nuclei. It is found that the neutrino loss and entropy generation are not altogether insensitive to most variations of the assumptions regarding the input physics, collapse rate and initial conditions and in particular the need to determine accurately beta capture rates in stellar collapse is pointed out.  相似文献

The collapse of iron-oxygen stars with masses of 2M has been calculated. The commencement of the collapse is due to dissociation of iron-group nuclei into free nucleons. After a while, the collapse proceeds in consequence of intensive energy losses due to neutrino volume radiation. At an intermediate stage of the collapse, the core — opaque with respect to neutrino radiation (neutrino core) — is formed inside the collapsing star. Both the gradual increase of the mass of the neutrino core and the partial absorption of neutrinos radiated from the surface of the neutrino core by the stellar envelope (deposition) were taken into account in our calculations. The kinetics of oxygen burning in the outer layers of the envelope was also allowed for. Neither the deposition, nor the oxygen burning, result in ejection of stellar envelopes.  相似文献

The effect of Fermi-Dirac neutron degeneracy on the collapse process is studied. Two computations of a spherically symmetric quasi-one-dimensional model are considered: the case with a full allowance for neutrino deposition and the case with total transparency of the star to neutrino emission. The hindering character of neutron degeneracy with respect to collapse has been revealed quantitatively. A weak sensitivity of both thermodynamics and neutrino characteristics of a rotating collapsar to this effect has been established. However, the hydrostatically equilibrium neutron star obtained is composed of a strongly degenerate neutron gas by more than half. This undoubtedly confirms that the performed computations of a quasi-one-dimensional model with neutron degeneracy are topical.  相似文献

An analytic solution has been found in the Roche approximation for the axially symmetric structure of a hydrostatically equilibrium atmosphere of a neutron star produced by collapse. A hydrodynamic (quasione-dimensional) model for the collapse of a rotating iron core in a massive star gives rise to a heterogeneous rotating protoneutron star with an extended atmosphere composed of matter from the outer part of the iron core with differential rotation (Imshennik and Nadyozhin, 1992). The equation of state of a completely degenerate iron gas with an arbitrary degree of relativity is taken for the atmospheric matter. We construct a family of toroidal model atmospheres with total masses M≈ 0.1?2M and total angular momenta J≈(1?5.5)×49 erg s, which are acceptable for the outer part of the collapsed iron core, in accordance with the hydrodynamic model, as a function of constant parameters ω0 and r 0 of the specified differential rotation law Ω=ω0exp[?(rsinθ)2/r 0 2 ] in spherical coordinates. The assumed rotation law is also qualitatively consistent with the hydrodynamic model for the collapse of an iron core.  相似文献

Time-dependent neutrino transport out of an optically thick neutronized stellar core is calculated to study the effects of neutrino degeneracy and of source depletion. Neutrino trapping inhibits further neutrino emission until neutrinos peel out of the outer zones of the core, exposing successively inner zones. This inwardly propagating neutrino rarefaction wave can lead toe +pv+n oscillations in chemical composition. The effect of neutrino Fermi statistics is to retard considrably and disperse neutrino leakage out of the core, making neutrino transport insignificant during fast stages of core collapse.Supported in part by the U.S. Department of Energy under Contract EY-76-C-02-3071.  相似文献

The collapse of massive stars may result in the formation of accreting black holes in their interiors. The accreting stellar matter may advect substantial magnetic flux on to the black hole and promote the release of its rotational energy via magnetic stresses (the Blandford–Znajek mechanism). In this paper we explore whether this process can explain the stellar explosions and relativistic jets associated with long gamma-ray bursts. In particular, we show that the Blandford–Znajek mechanism is activated when the rest mass–energy density of matter drops below the energy density of the magnetic field in the near vicinity of the black hole (within its ergosphere). We also discuss whether such a strong magnetic field is in conflict with the rapid rotation of the stellar core required in the collapsar model, and suggest that the conflict can be avoided if the progenitor star is a component of a close binary. In this case the stellar rotation can be sustained via spin-orbital interaction. In an alternative scenario the magnetic field is generated in the accretion disc, but in this case the magnetic flux through the black hole ergosphere is not expected to be sufficiently high to explain the energetics of hypernovae by the BZ mechanism alone. However, this energy deficit can be recovered via the additional power provided by the disc.  相似文献

Recent theoretical calculations of stellar evolutionary tracks for rotating high-mass stars suggests that the chemical composition of the surface layers changes even whilst the star is evolving on the Main Sequence. The abundance analysis of binary components with precisely known fundamental stellar quantities allows a powerful comparison with theory. The observed spectra of close binary stars can be separated into the individual spectra of the component stars using the method of spectral disentangling on a time-series of spectra taken over the orbital cycle. Recently, Pavlovski and Hensberge (2005, A&A, 439, 309) have shown that, even with moderately high line-broadening, metal abundances can be derived from disentangled spectra with a precision of 0.1 dex. In a continuation of this project we have undertaken a detailed abundance analysis of the components of another two high-mass binaries, V453 Cyg, and V380 Cyg. Both binaries are well-studied systems with modern solutions. The components are close to the TAMS and therefore very suitable for an observational test of early mixing in high-mass stars.  相似文献

The core collapse of a massive star in the Milky Way will produce a neutrino burst, intense enough to be detected by existing underground detectors. The AMANDA neutrino telescope located deep in the South Pole ice can detect MeV neutrinos by a collective rate increase in all photo-multipliers on top of dark noise. The main source of light comes from positrons produced in the CC reaction of anti-electron neutrinos on free protons . This paper describes the first supernova search performed on the full sets of data taken during 1997 and 1998 (215 days of live time) with 302 of the detector's optical modules. No candidate events resulted from this search. The performance of the detector is calculated, yielding a 70% coverage of the galaxy with one background fake per year with 90% efficiency for the detector configuration under study. An upper limit at the 90% c.l. on the rate of stellar collapses in the Milky Way is derived, yielding 4.3 events per year. A trigger algorithm is presented and its performance estimated. Possible improvements of the detector hardware are reviewed.  相似文献

The formation and collapse of a protostar involves the simultaneous infall and outflow of material in the presence of magnetic fields, self-gravity and rotation. We use self-similar techniques to self-consistently model the anisotropic collapse and outflow by using a set of angle-separated self-similar equations. The outflow is quite strong in our model, with the velocity increasing in proportion to radius, and material formally escaping to infinity in the finite time is required for the central singularity to develop.
Analytically tractable collapse models have been limited mainly to spherically symmetric collapse, with neither magnetic field nor rotation. Other analyses usually employ extensive numerical simulations, or either perturbative or quasistatic techniques. Our model is unique as an exact solution to the non-stationary equations of self-gravitating magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), which features co-existing regions of infall and outflow.
The velocity and magnetic topology of our model is quadrupolar, although dipolar solutions may also exist. We provide a qualitative model for the origin and subsequent evolution of such a state. However, a central singularity forms at late times, and we expect the late-time behaviour to be dominated by the singularity, rather than depend on the details of its initial state. Our solution may, therefore, have the character of an attractor among a much more general class of self-similarity.  相似文献

Solution to steady-state, bigroup neutrino transport with isoenergetic and neutrino-electron scattering have been obtained for idealized conditions representative of the outer core or envelope of a star whose inner core is undergoing gravitational collapse. The solutions are presented in a form suitable for comparison with other numerical schemes. The incident neutrino distribution was chosen to be nonequilibrium, and the solutions clearly show the tendency of the neutrinos to equilibrate via neutrino-electron scattering as they propagate through the material. Care is taken to compare solutions obtained by two completely different techniques to ensure that the solutions presented here are accurate and error free. The solutions are compared with those obtained by a simple diffusion scheme, and by a flux limited diffusion scheme. The solutions given by the latter agree well with the solutions derived here, except when the neutrino angular distribution becomes oblate.  相似文献

A stellar core becomes somewhat less massive due to neutrinos radiated away during its collapse in a neutron star or a black hole. The paper deals with the hydrodynamic motion of stellar envelope induced by such a mass loss. Depending on the structure of the outer stellar layers, the motion results either in ejection of an envelope with mass and energy proper for Nova outbursts; or nearly instantaneous excitation of strong pulsations of the star; or lastly in a slow slipping away of the whole stellar envelope. These phenomena are of importance when more powerful events, like supernova outbursts presumably associated with gravitational collapse, are absent. Such secondary indications of gravitational collapse are of special interest, since they may be a single observable manifestation (besides neutrinos and gravitational waves) of massive black hole formation.  相似文献

We summarize recent results of quantitative spectral analyses using NLTE and metal line-blanketed LTE model atmospheres. Temperatures and gravities derived for hundreds of sdB stars are now available and allow us to investigate systematic uncertainties of T e ff, log g scales and to test the theory of stellar evolution and pulsations. Surface abundance patterns of about two dozen sdB stars are surprisingly homogenous. In particular the iron abundance is almost solar for most sdBs. We highlight one iron-deficient and three super metal-rich sdBs, a challenge to diffusion theory. sdB stars are slowly rotating stars unless they are in close binary systems, which is hard to understand if the sdB stars were formed in merger events. The only exception is the pulsator PG 1605+072 rotating at vsin i= 39 km/s. Signatures of stellar winds from sdB stars may have been found.  相似文献

According to the suggestion of T. J. Mazurek (1979) neutrino oscillations occuring during the dynamic stellar collapse (M ≥ 10M) could be result in a transfer of leptonic zero-point energy to baryons. Then the adiabatic index increases above γ ≥ 4/3, and such an increase is necessary to reverse the collapse. From the theory of neutrino oscillations of B. Pontekorvo (1967) we derive the oszillation length L of neutrinos in vacuum and the characteristic oscillation lengh L* of neutrinos taking into consideration the refraction index ne of neutron star matter. The comparison of both oscillation lenghts shows that for electron densities, characteristically of neutron star matter, the oscillation lenght L is considerable larger than the oscillation lenght L*. Therefore neutrino oscillations cannot influence the scenario for neutrino emission of the neutron star.  相似文献

The future of solar physics is founded on the existing fundamental unsolved problems in stellar physics. Thus, for instance, the physics of stellar interiors has been called into serious question by the very low-measured neutrino flux. The 71Ga neutrino detection experiment is the next step in unravelling this mystery. If that experiment should find the expected neutrino flux from the basic p-p reaction in the Sun, then astrophysics is in a difficult situation, because the most likely explanation for the low neutrino flux found in the 37Cl experiment would be an error in our calculation of the opacity or an error in our understanding of the elemental abundances in stellar interiors, with serious implications for present ideas on stellar structure and the age of the galaxy. The new methods of helioseismology, for probing the interior of the Sun, have already found the primordial rapid rotation of the central core. The forthcoming world-wide helioseismology observing network will permit fuller exploitation of the method, promising to provide the first direct sounding of the interior of a star, hitherto known to us only through theoretical inference and the discrepant neutrino emission. The activity of all stars involves much the same phenomena as make up the activity of the Sun. The effects are too complex, and too foreign to the familiar dynamics in the terrestrial laboratory, to be deciphered by theoretical effort alone. It has become clear through the observational and theoretical work of the past decade or two that much of the essential dynamics of the activity of the atmosphere takes place on scales of the order of 102 km. Thus, an essential step in developing the physics of stellar activity will be the Solar Optical Telescope (presently planned by NASA to be launched early in the next decade) to permit a microscopic examination of the surface of the Sun to study the source of the action. The activity and X-ray emission of other stars depend on much the same effects, so that the study is essential to determining the significance of the X-ray emission from other stars. This work was supported in part by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration under grant NGL-14-001-001.  相似文献

The effects of ion screening in stellar core collapses are investigated based on a new progenitor star model.Simulation results show that ion screening slightly affects the leptons and decreases explosion energy, which is a negative factor for energy transfer supernova explosions. We also investigate the effect on type Ⅱ-supernova explosions of neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering based on the new progenitor star model. It is shown that, compared with the previously calculated results,neutrinos-nucleus elastic scattering in stellar core collapses is more severe, leading to an obvious reduction of the neutrino leakage energy loss and an increase of supernova explosion energy.  相似文献

In order to obtain the internal structure of a main-sequence star such as the Sun usually one has to solve the detailed structure equations numerically. This paper is an attempt to construct analytic models for the stellar nuclear energy generation. We give closed-form analytic results for the stellar luminosity and stellar neutrino emission rate when the radial matter density of the spherical star under consideration is linear. For the numerical estimation of the neutrino flux of a specified stellar nuclear reaction we take into account parameters of the standard solar model. The present paper gives for the first time the connection between stellar structure parameters and neutrino fluxes in an analytic stellar model.  相似文献
