This study is concerned with the dynamic response of an arbitrary shaped rigid strip foundation embedded in an orthotropic elastic soil. The foundation is subjected to time-harmonic vertical, horizontal and moment loadings. The boundary-value problem related to an embedded foundation is analysed by using the indirect boundary integral equation method. The kernel functions of the integral equations are displacement and traction Green's functions of an anisotropic elastic half plane. Exact analytical solutions are used for the Green's functions. The boundary integral equation is solved by using numerical techniques. Selected numerical results are presented for the impedances of rectangular and semi-circular rigid strip foundations embedded in four types of anisotropic soils. A discussion on the influence of soil anisotropy and frequency of excitation on the impedances is presented. The versatility of the analysis is demonstrated by considering the through soil interaction between two semi-circular strip foundations.  相似文献

The dynamic response of contacting fluid and fluid-saturated poroelastic half- spaces to a time-harmonic vertical point force or a point pore pressure is investigated. The solutions are formulated using the boundary conditions at the fluid-porous medium interface. The point load solutions are then used to solve the dynamic problem of the vertical vibration of a rigid disc (both permeable and impermeable discs are included) on the surface of the poroelastic half-space. The contact problems are solved by integrating the point force and point pore pressure solutions over the contact area with unknown discontinuous force and pore pressure distributions, which are determined from the boundary conditions. The solutions are expressed in terms of dual integral equations, which are converted to Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and solved numerically. Selected numerical results for the vertical dynamic compliance coefficient for the cases with or without fluid overlying the poroelastic half-space are presented to show the effects of the fluid. The influence of the permeability condition of the disc on the compliance of the poroelastic half-space is investigated. The displacement, vertical stress, pore pressure in the poroelastic half-space and water pressure in the fluid half-space are also examined for different poroelastic materials and frequencies of excitation. The present results are helpful in the study of the dynamic response of foundations on the seabed under seawater.  相似文献

Rocking vibrations of rigid disk on saturated poroelastic medium   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The dynamic response of a rigid disk on a saturated poroelastic half space and subjected to harmonic rocking excitation is studied. The mixed boundary-value problem for the case of relaxed contact condition between the disk and the poroelastic half space is reduced to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind, which is solved numerically. The dynamic compliance coefficient for the rocking vibration of a rigid disk on a poroelastic half space is presented.  相似文献

Lateral dynamic compliance of pile embedded in poroelastic half space   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The time-harmonic response of a pile in a poroelastic half space and under lateral loadings is studied. By treating the pile as a one-dimensional structure and the half-space as a three-dimensional poroelastic continuum, the dynamic interaction between a pile and a poroelastic medium is formulated as a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Green's functions for a distributed lateral force field acting inside a poroelastic half space is an important ingredient of this paper. Numerical results for lateral dynamic compliance functions are presented to illustrate the dynamic characteristics of a pile in a poroelastic half space.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the investigation of the vertical vibration of a rigid circular disc buried at an arbitrary depth in a transversely isotropic half space in such a way the axis of material symmetry of the half space is normal to the surface of it and parallel to the vibration direction. By using the Hankel integral transforms, the mixed boundary-value problem is transformed to a pair of integral equations called dual integral equations, which generally can be reduced to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. With the aid of complex variable or contour integration, the governing integral equation is numerically solved in the general dynamic case. Two degenerated cases (i) the disc is buried in a transversely isotropic full space, and (ii) rigid circular disc is attached on the surface of the half space are discussed. The reduced static case of the dual integral equations is solved analytically and the vertical displacement, the contact pressure and the static impedance/compliance function are explicitly found. It is shown that the vertical pressure and the compliance function reduced for isotropic half space are identical to the previous solutions reported in the literature. The dynamic contact pressure under the disc and the impedance function are numerically evaluated in general dynamic case and graphically shown that the singularity exists in the contact pressure at the edge of the disc is the same as the static case. In addition, the impedance functions evaluated here for the isotropic domain are collapsed on the solution given by Luco and Mita. To show the effect of different material anisotropy, the numerical evaluations are given for some different transversely isotropic materials and compared.  相似文献

This paper proposes a coupled fluid layer–foundation–poroelastic half-space vibration model to study how still water affects foundations operating underwater. As an example, we consider the problem of the vertical vibration of a rigid disk on a poroelastic half-space covered by a fluid layer having a finite depth. The solution of the disk vibration problem is obtained using the boundary conditions at the free surface of the fluid layer and the boundary conditions at the fluid layer–poroelastic medium interface. The solution is expressed in terms of dual integral equations that are converted into Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and solved numerically. Selected numerical results for the vertical dynamic impedance coefficient are examined based on different water depths, poroelastic materials, disk permeabilities and frequencies of excitation. Based on the numerical results, it is proposed that the hydrodynamic pressure caused by the foundation vibration is the intrinsic reason that the existence of a fluid layer has such a great effect on the dynamic characteristics of the foundation. In many cases, the hydrodynamic pressure caused by the foundation vibration cannot be ignored when designing dynamic underwater foundations. These results are helpful in understanding the dynamic response of foundations under still water without water waves, such as foundations in pools, lakes and reservoirs.  相似文献

An exact stiffness matrix method is presented to evaluate the dynamic response of a multi-layered poroelastic medium due to time-harmonic loads and fluid sources applied in the interior of the layered medium. The system under consideration consists of N layers of different properties and thickness overlying a homogeneous half-plane or a rigid base. Fourier integral transform is used with respect to the x-co-ordinate and the formulation is presented in the frequency domain. Fourier transforms of average displacements of the solid matrix and pore pressure at layer interfaces are considered as the basic unknowns. Exact stiffness (impedance) matrices describing the relationship between generalized displacement and force vectors of a layer of finite thickness and a half-plane are derived explicitly in the Fourier-frequency space by using rigorous analytical solutions for Biot's elastodynamic theory for porous media. The global stiffness matrix and the force vector of a layered system is assembled by considering the continuity of tractions and fluid flow at layer interfaces. The numerical solution of the global equation system for discrete values of Fourier transform parameter together with the application of numerical quadrature to evaluate inverse Fourier transform integrals yield the solutions for poroelastic fields. Numerical results for displacements and stresses of a few layered systems and vertical impedance of a rigid strip bonded to layered poroelastic media are presented. The advantages of the present method when compared to existing approximate stiffness methods and other methods based on the determination of layer arbitrary coefficients are discussed.  相似文献

Torsional response of pile embedded in a poroelastic medium   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The response of a cylindrical elastic pile embedded in a homogeneous poroelastic medium and subjected to torsional loading is studied for the first time. Based on the Muki's model, the pile-porous medium system is decomposed into a fictitious pile system and an extended porous medium system. The one-dimensional, vertical, elastic pile and the three-dimensional poroelastic medium are solved, respectively. Considering the mixed boundary-value conditions at the interface of pile and soil, a Fredholm's integral equation of the second kind for the bar-force is established. The force and the displacement of the pile are calculated by applying numerical quadrature.  相似文献

An approximate analytical method is presented for the dynamic response of a rigid cylindrical foundation embedded in a poroelastic soil layer under the excitation of a time-harmonic rocking moment. The soil underlying the foundation base is represented by a single-layered poroelastic soil based on rigid bedrock while the soil along the side of the foundation is modeled as an independent poroelastic stratum composed of a series of infinitesimally thin layers. The accuracy of the present solution is verified by comparisons with existing solutions obtained from other researchers. Numerical results for the rocking dynamic impedance and dynamic response factor are presented to demonstrate the influence of nondimensional frequency of excitation, poroelastic soil layer thickness, depth ratio of the foundation and internal friction of the poroelastic soil.  相似文献

This paper addresses the horizontal vibration of a rigid disk embedded in a poroelastic half-space in contact with a fluid half-space using the poroelastic theory of potentials. The solution of this problem is expressed in terms of dual integral equations that are converted into Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and solved numerically. Selected numerical results for the horizontal dynamic impedance coefficient are examined based on different poroelastic materials, embedment depths, and excitation frequencies; furthermore, the results are analyzed for the cases in which there is and is no fluid overlying the poroelastic medium to examine the effect of fluid. The results of this study are helpful for designing a foundation embedded in the seabed due to dynamic horizontal forces.  相似文献

A methodology using modal analysis is developed to evaluate dynamic vertical displacements of a circular flexible foundation resting on soil media subjected to horizontal and rocking motions. The influence of the soil reaction forces on the foundation is considered by introducing modal impedance functions, which can be determined by an efficient procedure with ring elements. The displacements of the foundation can then be easily solved by modal superposition. Parametric studies for modal responses of the flexible foundation indicate that the coupled response of the foundation is significantly influenced by relative stiffness among the foundation and the soil medium, vibration frequency range, foundation mass, and boundary contact conditions. The welded boundary condition should be considered to predict the coupling response while the relaxed boundary condition may be used to predict approximately the vertical displacements. As a foundation with a relative stiffness ratio more than three, it is found that the foundation can be considered as rigid to calculate coupling displacements. For a slightly flexible foundation, considerations of three modes are sufficient enough to obtain accurate foundation responses. Moreover, at low frequencies, the coupling effect due to higher mode can be neglected.  相似文献

An analytical approach is used to study the torsional vibrations of a rigid circular foundation resting on saturated soil to obliquely incident SH waves. Biot’s poroelastic dynamic theory is considered to characterize the saturated soil below the foundation, which is solved by Hankel transform later. In order to consider the scattering phenomena caused by the existence of the foundation, the total wave field in soil is classified into free-field, rigid-body scattering field and radiation scattering field. According to the classification of wave field and the mixed boundary-value conditions between the soil and the foundation, torsional vibrations of the foundation are formulated in two sets of dual integral equations. Then, the dual integral equations are reduced to Fredholm integral equation of the second kind to be solved. Combining with the dynamic equilibrium equations of the foundation, the expressions for the torsional vibrations of the foundation are obtained. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the influence of excitation frequency, incident angle, the torsional inertia moment of the foundation and permeability of the saturated half-space on the torsional vibrations of the foundation.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the dynamic response of rigid strip foundations of arbitrary geometry embedded in a homogeneous elastic half-space. The embedded rigid foundation is modelled by an equivalent domain in a uniform half-space which is subjected to an appropriate body force field. The components of the impedance matrix are determined through the solution of a linear simultaneous equation system which is established by invoking rigid body displacements of discrete locations within the equivalent domain and appropriate equilibrium consideration. It is found that high numerical efficiency and flexibility can be achieved using the body force model when compared to boundary integral formulations through the selection of appropriate displacement influence functions and a ‘parent domain’ in the analysis. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the influence of the embedment ratio, frequency of excitation, foundation geometry and Poisson's ratio on the vertical, horizontal, rocking and coupled impedances of a single embedded foundation. The effect on the impedance due to the presence of an adjacent embedment is investigated for various distances between foundations and embedment ratios.

The vertical and rocking response of rigid rectangular foundations resting on a linear-elastic, compressible, non-homogeneous half-space soil model is studied. The non-homogeneity is described by a continuous yet bounded increase of shear modulus with depth. The mixed boundary value problem is solved by means of the semi-analytical method of the subdivision of the foundation/soil contact area whereby the influence functions for the sub-regions are determined by integration of the corresponding surface-to-surface Green's functions for the particular soil model. Impedance functions are given for representative values of the non-homogeneity parameters, the Poisson's ratio and the foundation geometry over a wide range of frequencies. Significant features associated with the soil non-homogeneity are pointed out. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.  相似文献

Three-dimensional time-harmonic response of a poroelastic half space subjected to an arbitrary buried loading is investigated. The analysis starts with the field equations in cylindrical coordinates based on Biot's general theory of poroelasticity. General solutions for the displacements are first derived using the Fourier expansions and Hankel integral transform with respect to the circumferential and radial coordinates, respectively. The transformed-domain solutions are obtained in explicit form. The physical-domain displacements and stress components are then obtained numerically by inverse integral transform. Comparisons illustrating the accuracy of the developed approach are made with existing solutions for an elastic half space, which is reduced directly from the general solution developed in the paper. Numerical results are presented for the displacements of a saturated soil subjected to a horizontal internal excitation.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the dynamic response of a system of flexible strip foundations resting in smooth contact with a homogeneous isotropic viscoelastic half space. An arbitrary number of foundations with different flexibilities and geometries subjected to time-harmonic distributed loadings are considered in the formulation. The response of each strip foundation is governed by the classical plate theory and its transverse deflection is represented by an admissible function containing a set of generalized co-ordinates. A coupled variational-Green's function scheme is employed to establish the equations of motion of the strip foundation system. The numerical stability and convergence of the solution scheme are established. The influence of the foundation flexibility, distance between adjacent foundations and frequency of motion on the response of the foundation system is investigated in the numerical study.  相似文献

A study is carefully conducted for the rocking response of a rigid circular foundation resting on a poroelastic half-space when subjected to seismic waves under the framework of Biot’s theory. The free-field waves, rigid-body scattering field waves and radiation scattering field waves are introduced to consider the complex behavior of the soil owing to the scattering phenomena caused by the existence of the foundation. The contact surface between the soil and the foundation is supposed to be perfectly bonded and fully permeable. Combining with the divided wave fields, two sets of dual integral equations elaborating the mixed boundary-value conditions are established, and then reduced to Fredholm integral equations. Therefore, with a semi-analytical method, the expressions of the rocking displacements are obtained. The numerical results of the rocking vibration of the foundation for incident P, SV and Rayleigh waves are presented. The influences of certain parameters, such as the permeability of the soil, the incident angle, Poisson’s ratio and the mass of the foundation, on the rocking vibration of the foundation are explored and studied. Different reactions are found when the foundation is excited by different waves.  相似文献

Soil–structure interaction problems are typically modelled by assuming subgrade behaviour to be either elastic or viscoelastic. Herein, compliance functions that may be used to solve soil–structure interaction problems are evaluated by treating the subgrade as a liquid-saturated poroelastic material whose behaviour is governed by Biot's theory. The compliances are evaluated for the harmonic rocking and vertical motions of rigid permeable and impermeable plates bearing on a poroelastic halfspace. Comparisons are made with elastic solutions which assume the subgrade to be either completely drained or undrained. Also, solid and fluid contact stresses are reported for the poroelastic case and compared to the solid contact stresses for the elastic cases.  相似文献
