Individual and monthly precipitation samples from the polluted atmosphere of Bologna (Emilia-Romagna province) were collected during March 1996 to May 1997 and analyzed for major ions in solution and S isotopes in dissolved SO4.Weighted mean enrichment factors relative to seawater are found to be 1.0 for Na, 15.2 for K, 105 for Ca, 3.3 for Mg, 17.3 for SO4 and 663 for HCO3. Very good positive correlations are observed for the Ca2+–Mg2+–HCO3–SO2−4–NO3 system, indicating that dissolution of Ca (±Mg)-carbonate particles by H2SO4 and HNO3 from combustion of oil and gas is a major process controlling the chemical composition of rain and snow. Na+ and Cl in monthly precipitation derive essentially from sea spray, but the contribution of Na+ from continental sources is appreciable in a number of individual rains. NH+4 appears to be on average more abundant in spring and summer precipitation, its main sources being microbial activity in soils and application of fertilizers. K+ is probably of continental origin from soil dust. The S isotopic composition of SO4 is systematically positive, with mean δ34S values of +3.2±1.6‰ (n=40) in individual precipitation and +2.8±1.4‰ (n=12) in monthly precipitation. These isotopic compositions are interpreted in terms of a dominant contribution of S from anthropogenic emissions and subordinate contributions from biogenic and marine sources. Pollutant SO4 is estimated to have a δ34S value in the range +2.5 to +4.5‰, whereas a distinctive δ34S of −4.5‰ or lower indicates SO4 from oxidation of biogenic gases. The isotopic and chemical compositions of SO4 do not depend on wind direction, thus testifying to a mostly local source for pollutant S in the Bologna atmosphere.  相似文献

The solubility of ZrO2(baddeleyite) in HCl, HF, H2SO4, NaOH, and Na2CO3 solutions was determined by the capsule method at 500°C and 1000 bar. Baddeleyite is the only solid phase detected in the experimental products. Based on the ZrO2(baddeleyite) solubility measurements, the values of equilibrium constants at 500°C and 1000 bar (consistent with the Gibbs free energies of all the reactants) were obtained for the following reactions: ZrO2(cr) + H2SO 4 0 = Zr(OH)2OH 4 0 (pKo = 4.95), ZrO2(cr) + 2H2SO 4 0 = Zr(SO4) 2 0 ) + 2H2O (pKo = 3.74), ZrO2(cr) + H2O + HF0 = Zr(OH)3F0 (pKo = 3.35), ZrO2(cr) + 2HF0 = Zr(OH)2F 2 0 (pKo = 2.37), and ZrO2(cr) + 2H2O + OH? = Zr(OH) 5 ? (pKo = 4.39). Ionization constants were estimated for the chloride, fluoride, sulfate, and hydroxo complexes of zirconium. Using the experimental data and thermodynamic information derived from experiments and the electrostatic model of the ionization of electrolytes, it was shown that no more than n mg zirconium per one kilogram H2O can be accumulated in high-temperature fluids at 500°C and 1000 bar.  相似文献

Despite the common belief that AuI complexes with hydrogen sulfide ligands (H2S/HS) are the major carriers of gold in natural hydrothermal fluids, their identity, structure and stability are still subjects of debate. Here we present the first in situ measurement, using X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy, of the stability and structure of aqueous AuI–S complexes at temperatures and pressures (T–P) typical of natural sulfur-rich ore-forming fluids. The solubility of native gold and the local atomic structure around the dissolved metal in S–NaOH–Na2SO4–H2SO4 aqueous solutions were characterized at temperatures 200–450 °C and pressures 300–600 bar using an X-ray cell that allows simultaneous measurement of the absolute concentration of the absorbing atom (Au) and its local atomic environment in the fluid phase. Structural and solubility data obtained from XAFS spectra, combined with quantum-chemical calculations of species geometries, show that gold bis(hydrogensulfide) Au(HS)2 is the dominant Au species in neutral-to-basic solutions (5.5  pH  8.5; H2O–S–NaOH) over a wide range of sulfur concentrations (0.2 < ΣS < 3.6 mol/kg), in agreement with previous solubility studies. Our results provide the first direct determination of this species structure, in which two sulfur atoms are in a linear geometry around AuI at an average distance of 2.29 ± 0.01 Å. At acidic conditions (1.5  pH  5.0; H2O–S–Na2SO4–H2SO4), the Au atomic environment determined by XAFS is similar to that in neutral solutions. These findings, together with measured high Au solubilities, are inconsistent with the predominance of the gold hydrogensulfide Au(HS)0 complex suggested by recent solubility studies. Our spectroscopic data and quantum-chemical calculations imply the formation of species composed of linear S–Au–S moieties, like the neutral [H2S–Au–SH] complex. This species may account for the elevated Au solubilities in acidic fluids and vapors with H2S concentrations higher than 0.1–0.2 mol/kg. However, because of the complex sulfur speciation in acidic solutions that involves sulfite, thiosulfate and polysulfide species, the formation of AuI complexes with these ligands (e.g., AuHS(SO2)0, Au(HS2O3)2, Au(HSn)2) cannot be ruled out. The existence of such species may significantly enhance Au transport by high T–P acidic ore-forming fluids and vapors, responsible for the formation of a major part of the gold resources on Earth.  相似文献

Twenty-eight samples of peat, peaty lignites and lignites (of both matrix and xylite-rich lithotypes) and subbituminous coals have been physically activated by pyrolysis. The results show that the surface area of the activated coal samples increases substantially and the higher the carbon content of the samples the higher the surface area. The adsorption capacity of the activated coals for NO, SO2, C3H6 and a mixture of light hydrocarbons (CH4, C2H6, C3H8 and C4H10) at various temperatures was measured on selected samples. The result shows a positive correlation between the surface area and the gas adsorption. In contrast, the gas adsorption is inversely correlated with the temperature. The maximum recorded adsorption values are: NO = 8.22 × 10− 5 mol/g at 35 °C; SO2 = 38.65 × 10− 5 mol/g at 60 °C; C3H6 = 38.9 × 10− 5 mol/g at 35 °C; and light hydrocarbons = 19.24 × 10− 5 mol/g at 35 °C. Adsorption of C3H6 cannot be correlated with either NO or SO2. However, there is a significant positive correlation between NO and SO2 adsorptions. The long chain hydrocarbons are preferentially adsorbed on activated lignites as compared to the short chain hydrocarbons. The results also suggest a positive correlation between surface area and the content of telohuminite maceral sub-group above the level of 45%.  相似文献

The local and geometrical structure around gold (III) e.g., Au3+ ions in aqueous solution with different OH/Cl molar ratios, has been investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra of [AuCln(OH)4−n] solutions have been calculated and the multiple-scattering spectral features have been attributed to Cl d-states, axial water molecules and the replacement of Cl ligands by OH ligands. A square–planar geometry for [AuCln(OH)4−n] with two axial water molecules has been identified. Moreover, a spectral correlation between XANES features and the type of planar atoms has been identified. By extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectra (EXAFS), the planar Au bond distances in the solutions have also been determined, e.g., 2.28 Å for Au–Cl and 1.98 Å for Au–O, respectively. The same EXAFS analysis provides evidence that the peak at about 4.0 Å in solutions with the lowest OH/Cl molar ratio arises from collinear Cl–Au–Cl multiple-scattering contributions. For the first time, a complete detailed reconstruction of the hydration structure of an Au ion at different pH values has been achieved.  相似文献

Ambient-temperature environments in which dissolved silica and U(VI) are present may lack the conditions necessary to readily form crystalline uranyl-silicate phases; however amorphous phases, as defined by the absence of well-defined Bragg reflections in powder X-ray diffraction patterns, are kinetically favored when solution saturation levels are appropriate. Such amorphous uranyl-silicates may be related to the crystalline phases predicted to be thermodynamically stable and influence the mobility of U in the environment. To investigate amorphous uranyl-silicates and their relation to crystalline phases we precipitated solids from solutions containing 0.05 M UO2(ClO4)2 and 0.1 M Na2SiO3 adjusted to pH values from 2.2 to 9 and allowed the precipitates to age in their mother liquors for approximately 6 weeks at 22 °C. We compared the chemical composition, X-ray diffraction patterns, and Fourier transform infrared spectra of the precipitates to those of the crystalline phases predicted by thermodynamic modeling. The precipitates were amorphous with U:Si ratios of 0.8 ± 0.1. Their FTIR spectra revealed changes in the UO22+ and SiO44− vibrations as a function of pH that are consistent with a shift in mid-range structural linkages from those similar to soddyite to those more like Na-boltwoodite. Structural H2O, OH, and SiO3OH3− vibrations do not change as a function of pH and are consistent with a mixture of soddyite-like and Na-boltwoodite-like features. Six weeks of aging at ambient temperature is enough time for the precipitate structures to rearrange and adopt mid-range structural linkages characteristic of crystalline phases predicted by thermodynamic modeling.  相似文献

Cinnabar (α-HgS) and metacinnabar (β-HgS) dissolved at environmentally significant rates in oxygenated slurry experiments simulating a low-flow fluvial system. Based on SO42− production, cinnabar dissolution rates were 2.64 to 6.16 μmol (SO42−) m− 2 day− 1, and metacinnabar dissolution rates were 1.20 to 1.90 μmol (SO42−) m− 2 day− 1. Monodentate-bound thiosulfate (S2O32−) was identified as an oxidation product on the HgS surface by ATR-IR spectroscopy based on strong infrared absorption bands in the 1140–1145 cm− 1 and 1006–1014 cm− 1 regions. The presence of sulfide oxidation intermediates on the HgS surface indicates that SO42− concentration underestimates α-HgS and β-HgS dissolution in this setting. Mercury release rates during dissolution were more than two orders of magnitude less than SO42− production, but were significant: 0.47 mg (Hg) m− 2 y− 1 from cinnabar [6.45 nmol (Hg) m− 2 day− 1], and 0.17 mg (Hg) m− 2 y− 1 from metacinnabar [2.29 nmol (Hg) m− 2 day− 1]. The Hg mobilized during α-HgS and β-HgS dissolution is sufficient to form natural Au–Hg amalgam in downstream placer settings. The proportion of mercury that is not remobilized during α-HgS and β-HgS dissolution likely adsorbs to the dissolving mercuric sulfide. Adsorption of Hg2+ to cinnabar was detected in situ by anodic stripping voltammetry using a cinnabar-modified carbon paste electrode following accumulation of Hg2+ on the electrode at open circuit potential.  相似文献

The 1.27 Ga old Ivigtut (Ivittuut) intrusion in South Greenland is world-famous for its hydrothermal cryolite deposit [Na3AlF6] situated within a strongly metasomatised A-type granite stock. This detailed fluid inclusion study characterises the fluid present during the formation of the cryolite deposit and thermodynamic modelling allows to constrain its formation conditions.Microthermometry revealed three different types of inclusions: (1) pure CO2, (2) aqueous-carbonic and (3) saline-aqueous inclusions. Melting temperatures range between − 23 and − 15 °C for type 2 and from − 15 to − 10 °C for type 3 inclusions. Most inclusions homogenise between 110 and 150 °C into the liquid.Stable isotope compositions of CO2 and H2O were measured from crushed inclusions in quartz, cryolite, fluorite and siderite. The δ13C values of about − 5‰ PDB are typical of mantle-derived magmas. The differences between δ18O of CO2 (+ 21 to + 42‰ VSMOW) and δ18O of H2O (− 1 to − 21.7‰ VSMOW) suggest low-temperature isotope exchange. δD (H2O) ranges from − 19 to − 144‰ VSMOW. The isotopic composition of inclusion water closely follows the meteoric water line and is comparable to Canadian Shield brines. Ion chromatography revealed the fluid's predominance in Na, Cl and F. Cl/Br ratios range between 56 and 110 and may imply intensive fluid–rock interaction with the host granite.Isochores deduced from microthermometry in conjunction with estimates for the solidification of the Ivigtut granite suggest a formation pressure of approximately 1–1.5 kbar for the fluid inclusions. Formation temperatures of different types of fluid inclusions vary between 100 and 400 °C. Thermodynamic modelling of phase assemblages and the extraordinary high concentration in F (and Na) may indicate that the cryolite body and its associated fluid inclusions could have formed during the continuous transition from a volatile-rich melt to a solute-rich fluid.  相似文献

Measurements of compressional wave velocity Vp were made in a gas apparatus to 500°C at 10 kbar in three cores of an anisotropic dunite specimen from Twin Sisters Mountain. The axial directions of the three chosen cores coincide with the preferred directions and concentration of olivine crystallographic axes (a [100], b [010], andc [001]).Measured (δVp/δT)p values at 10 kbar in the three cores (−6.7, −5.4 and −6.2 · 10−4 km/sec · deg, respectively), and the mean value for the dunite (−6.1 · 10−4 km/sec · deg) are larger than the Voigt-Reuss-Hill values calculated from single-crystal data. This discrepancy is explained by the presence of internal thermal stresses, due to anisotropic expansion of olivine grains, causing grain boundary cracks to widen. It is concluded that high negative values of (δVp/δT)p for rocks reported in the literature should be carefully evaluated in terms of the formation of new cracks or widening of cracks already present under high pressure-temperature environments.  相似文献

Study on the kinetics of iron oxide leaching by oxalic acid   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The presence of iron oxides in clay or silica raw materials is detrimental to the manufacturing of high quality ceramics. Although iron has been traditionally removed by physical mineral processing, acid washing has been tested as it is more effective, especially for extremely low iron (of less than 0.1% w/w). However, inorganic acids such as sulphuric or hydrochloric acids easily contaminate the clay products with SO42− and Cl, and therefore should be avoided as much as possible. On the other hand, if oxalic acid is used, any acid left behind will be destroyed during the firing of the ceramic products. The characteristics of dissolution of iron oxides were therefore investigated in this study. The dissolution of iron oxides in oxalic acid was found to be very slow at temperatures within the range 25–60 °C, but its rate increases rapidly above 90 °C. The dissolution rate also increases with increasing oxalate concentration at the constant pH values set within the optimum range of pH2.5–3.0. At this optimum pH, the dissolution of fine pure hematite (Fe2O3) (105–140 μm) follows a diffusion-controlled shrinking core model. The rate expression expressed as 1 − (2 / 3)x − (1 − x)2 / 3 where x is a fraction of iron dissolution was found to be proportional to [oxalate]1.5.The addition of magnetite to the leach liquor at 10% w/w hematite was found to enhance the dissolution rate dramatically. Such addition of magnetite allows coarser hematite in the range 0.5–1.4 mm to be leached at a reasonable rate.  相似文献

Hydrochemistry of groundwater in Chithar Basin, Tamil Nadu, India was used to assess the quality of groundwater for determining its suitability for drinking and agricultural purposes. Physical and chemical parameters of groundwater such as electrical conductivity, pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl, HCO3, CO32–, SO42–, NO3, F, B and SiO2 were determined. Concentrations of the chemical constituents in groundwater vary spatially and temporarily. Interpretation of analytical data shows that mixed Ca–Mg–Cl, Ca–Cl and Na–Cl are the dominant hydrochemical facies in the study area. Alkali earths (Ca2+, Mg2+) and strong acids (Cl, SO42–) are slightly dominating over alkalis (Na+, K+) and weak acids (HCO3, CO32–). The abundance of the major ions is as follows: Na+ Ca2+ Mg2+ > K+ = Cl > HCO3> SO42– > NO3 > CO32– . Groundwater in the area is generally hard, fresh to brackish, high to very high saline and low alkaline in nature. High total hardness and TDS in a few places identify the unsuitability of groundwater for drinking and irrigation. Such areas require special care to provide adequate drainage and introduce alternative salt tolerance cropping. Fluoride and boron are within the permissible limits for human consumption and crops as per the international standards.  相似文献

Summary Recently several natural and artificial ferric iron sulphate crystal structures have been solved. Sideronatrite, Na2Fe3+(SO4)2(OH)·3H2O, does not provide good crystals for structural purposes. However if we examine crystallographic, chemical and physical data some useful information about the ...Fe–O–S... structural topology can be inferred. In fact this analysis strengthens the hypothesis that there is a {Fe 2 3+ (SO4)4(OH)2} chain in sideronatrite like that found in guildite, Cu2+Fe3+(SO4)2(OH)·4H2O.

Thiosulphate is present in hot springs, streams and thermal pools of the Taupo Volcanic Zone and Ngawha, New Zealand, at concentrations of 1.2 (±1.3) × 10−5 M to 7.05 (±0.12) × 10−4M. Formed as a metastable product of sulphide oxidation, thiosulphate is buffered in the presence of elemental S according to, . Unless all sulphide present has been bacterially oxidised to sulphate, a steady state concentration of thiosulphate is maintained. As a soft base thiosulphate is capable of complexing several transition metals. The thermodynamically predicted speciation of Ag in Champagne Pool, for example, indicates a Ag(S2O3)2−3 activity similar to that of AgCl2 though less than that of Ag(HS)2.  相似文献

A case study of three springs in Switzerland is used to demonstrate the value of geochemical time-series data as a powerful tool to study the dynamics of groundwater systems. Values of repeatedly measured parameters revealed intermixings of two water types: (a) a 29°C water, circulating to a depth of 1100 m and containing approximately 700 mg/l Ca, 2000 mg/l SO4, 700 mg/l HCO3, 20 mg/l of Na and Cl, 6 mg/l Fe, at least 47 mg/l SiO2, and with an isotopic composition of δD = − 73.0‰ and δ18 O = −10.9‰, and (b) a 12°C or colder water, shallow, and of a post-1953 age, containing 420 mg/l TDI or less, very low in Na and Cl (4 mg/l or less), isotopic values of δD = −71.0‰ and δ18 O = −10.5‰ and tritium as in recent (post-bomb) precipitation.  相似文献

Soils, rocks, altered rocks, hot and cold waters, and hot spring precipitates were sampled within and on the outskirts of geothermal fields in China. The contents of thirty trace elements in soils and rocks show that Hg, As, Sb, Bi, Li, Rb, Cs, Au, Ag, B, W, Sn, Pb, Zn, Mn, Ni and Co can serve as direct and indirect indicators for geothermal field exploration. Large amounts of data indicate that Hg, As and Sb are the best indicators of hot water sources. Altered rocks contain higher Hg, As, Sb, Bi and Be than unaltered rocks. Based on their abundances in hot waters, it is suggested that the following elements may be used as hydrochemical indicators of high-temperature hot-water geothermal systems: K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, SO2−4, HCO3, F, Cl, SiO2, HBO2, CO2, pH, total dissolved solids and hydrochemical types, as well as Hg, As, Sb, Be, Li, Rb and Cs. Modern precipitates associated with hot springs have high contents of Ba, Be, Fe, Ti, Hg, As, Sb and Bi. Using these geochemical data, the authors have had much success in locating hot water drill sites within geothermal fields. Case histories are described for five geothermal areas.  相似文献

At T > 100°C development of thermodynamic models suffers from missing experimental data, particularly for solubilities of sulfate minerals in mixed solutions. Solubilities in Na+-K+-Ca2+-Cl-SO42−/H2O subsystems were investigated at 150, 200°C and at selected compositions at 100°C. The apparatus used to examine solid-liquid phase equilibria under hydrothermal conditions has been described. In the system NaCl-CaSO4-H2O the missing anhydrite (CaSO4) solubilities at high NaCl concentrations up to halite saturation have been determined. In the system Na2SO4-CaSO4-H2O the observed glauberite (Na2SO4 · CaSO4) solubility is higher than that predicted by the high temperature model of Greenberg and Møller (1989), especially at 200°C. At high salt concentrations, solubilities of both anhydrite and glauberite increase with increasing temperature. Stability fields of the minerals syngenite (K2SO4 · CaSO4 · H2O) and goergeyite (K2SO4 · 5 CaSO4 · H2O) were determined, and a new phase was found at 200°C in the K2SO4-CaSO4-H2O system. Chemical and single crystal structure analysis give the formula K2SO4 · CaSO4. The structure is isostructural with palmierite (K2SO4 · PbSO4). The glaserite (“3 K2SO4 · Na2SO4”) appears as solid solution in the system Na2SO4-K2SO4-H2O. Its solubility and stoichiometry was determined as a function of solution composition.  相似文献

Humic Ion-Binding Model V, which focuses on metal complexation with humic and fulvic acids, was modified to assess the role of dissolved natural organic matter in the speciation of rare earth elements (REEs) in natural terrestrial waters. Intrinsic equilibrium constants for cation-proton exchange with humic substances (i.e., pKMHA for type A sites, consisting mainly of carboxylic acids), required by the model for each REE, were initially estimated using linear free-energy relationships between the first hydrolysis constants and stability constants for REE metal complexation with lactic and acetic acid. pKMHA values were further refined by comparison of calculated Model V “fits” to published data sets describing complexation of Eu, Tb, and Dy with humic substances. A subroutine that allows for the simultaneous evaluation of REE complexation with inorganic ligands (e.g., Cl, F, OH, SO42−, CO32−, PO43−), incorporating recently determined stability constants for REE complexes with these ligands, was also linked to Model V. Humic Ion-Binding Model V’s ability to predict REE speciation with natural organic matter in natural waters was evaluated by comparing model results to “speciation” data determined previously with ultrafiltration techniques (i.e., organic acid-rich waters of the Nsimi-Zoetele catchment, Cameroon; dilute, circumneutral-pH waters of the Tamagawa River, Japan, and the Kalix River, northern Sweden). The model predictions compare well with the ultrafiltration studies, especially for the heavy REEs in circumneutral-pH river waters. Subsequent application of the model to world average river water predicts that organic matter complexes are the dominant form of dissolved REEs in bulk river waters draining the continents. Holding major solute, minor solute, and REE concentrations of world average river water constant while varying pH, the model suggests that organic matter complexes would dominate La, Eu, and Lu speciation within the pH ranges of 5.4 to 7.9, 4.8 to 7.3, and 4.9 to 6.9, respectively. For acidic waters, the model predicts that the free metal ion (Ln3+) and sulfate complexes (LnSO4+) dominate, whereas in alkaline waters, carbonate complexes (LnCO3+ + Ln[CO3]2) are predicted to out-compete humic substances for dissolved REEs. Application of the modified Model V to a “model” groundwater suggests that natural organic matter complexes of REEs are insignificant. However, groundwaters with higher dissolved organic carbon concentrations than the “model” groundwater (i.e., >0.7 mg/L) would exhibit greater fractions of each REE complexed with organic matter. Sensitively analysis indicates that increasing ionic strength can weaken humate-REE interactions, and increasing the concentration of competitive cations such as Fe(III) and Al can lead to a decrease in the amount of REEs bound to dissolved organic matter.  相似文献

Located in semi-arid regions of northwestern China, Datong basin is a Quaternary sedimentary basin, where groundwater is the most important source for water supply. It is very important to study groundwater characteristics and hydrogeochemical processes for better management of the groundwater resource. We have identified five geochemical zones of shallow groundwater (between 5 and 80 m) at Datong: A. Leaching Zone (Zone I); B. Converging Zone (Zone II); C. Enriching Zone (Zone III); D. Reducing Zone (Zone IV); E. Oxidizing Zone (Zone V). In Zones I, II, and V and some parts of Zones III and IV, hydrolysis of albite/K-feldspar/chalcedony system and/or albite/K-feldspar/quartz system enhanced concentrations of Na+, K+, HCO3 and silicate. In Zone I, dissolution of carbonate and hydrolysis of feldspar generally controlled the groundwater chemistry. Infiltration of meteoric water promoted the formation of HCO3 in the water. In Zone II, the main geochemical processes influencing the groundwater chemistry were dissolutions of calcite and dolomite, ion exchange and evaporation. In Zones III and IV, in addition to ion exchange, evaporation and precipitation of calcite and dolomite, leaching of NaHCO3 in saline–alkaline soils dominated the water quality. Zone IV was under anoxic condition, and reduction reactions led to the decrease of SO42−, NO3 and occurrence of H2S, with the highest arsenic content (mean value of 366 μg/L), far exceeding Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL). Abnormal arsenic in the groundwater resulted in endemic disease of waterborne arsenic poisoning among local people. Zone V overlapped Zone I was intensively affected by coal mining activities. Sulfide minerals, such as pyrite, would have been oxidized when exposed to air due to coal mining, which directly added sulfate to groundwater and thus increased SO42− concentration. Oxidization of sulfide minerals also decreased pH and promoted dissolutions of calcite and dolomite.  相似文献

The Greenland Ice Core Chronology 2005, GICC05, is extended back to 42 ka b2k (before 2000 AD), i.e. to the end of Greenland Stadial 11. The chronology is based on independent multi-parameter counting of annual layers using comprehensive high-resolution measurements available from the North Greenland Ice Core Project, NGRIP. These are measurements of visual stratigraphy, conductivity of the solid ice, electrolytical melt water conductivity and the concentration of Na+, Ca2+, SO42−, NO3, NH4+. An uncertainty estimate of the time scale is obtained from identification of ‘uncertain’ annual layers, which are counted as 0.5±0.5 years. The sum of the uncertain annual layers, the so-called maximum counting error of the presented chronology ranges from 4% in the warm interstadial periods to 7% in the cold stadials. The annual accumulation rates of the stadials and interstadials are on average one-third and half of the present day values, respectively, and the onset of the Greenland Interstadials 2, 3, and 8, based on 20 year averaged δ18O values, are determined as 23,340, 27,780, and 38,220 yr b2k in GICC05.  相似文献

On the south-eastern edge of Russia, the chemical composition of rainwater is controlled by sea salts, terrestrial material, as well as volcanic (Kuril islands volcanic area) and anthropogenic emissions, mostly in the southern part of the area. The predominant major ions of the Primorye, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands rainwaters were respectively HCO3–SO42−, Ca–Na, and of Cl–Na. Concentration of trace elements changes within 1–2 orders of magnitude but some difference in the distribution of the elements between continental and island rainwater is found. The concentration of the chemical elements in the particulate fraction varies from < 10% to 90% of the total concentration (dissolved + particulate) with the following distribution: Tl, Na, Ca, Sr, Zn, Cd (< 10%)–Be, Th, Bi, Rb, U, K, Sc (10–20%)–Cu, Mn, Mg, Mo, Se, Ba, Ni, As, Ag, Cs, Co, Y, Ga, V (20–50%)–Sb, Pb, Ge, Cr, Fe, Al (50–90%).The concentration of elements of the particulate fraction of the rainwater usually is significantly different from concentrations in the crust, including both higher and lower concentrations. The terrestrial contribution to dissolved elements was evaluated and follows the decreasing order: Fe > K, Mg, Ca > Ba, Sr > Na (65–1%). Close order was found for total (dissolved and solid) concentrations. Sea salt contribution to dissolved element concentration in the rainwater decrease in the following order: Cl, Mg > K, SO4 > Ca > HCO3, Ba, Fe (78–0.1%). Calculation of anthropogenic and volcanic inputs for two ions (Cl and SO42−) shows that anthropogenic inputs for the Vladivostok and Yuzno-Sakhalinsk cities can be evaluated as 15–20% of Cl and up to 80–90% of SO42−. Volcanic components in the Kuril Islands, where anthropogenic inputs are absent, can reach up to 76% of SO42− and 36% of Cl.  相似文献
