Series of sedimentary hydrothermal-diplogenetic copper deposits have been found scattering in the region along the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and their metallogenetic mechanism is still in hot debate. In order to reveal the ore-forming kinetics of sedimentary process and hydrothermal superimposition, and evaluate the role of sedimentary pyrite in the enrichment and precipitation of copper, a set of simulating experiments on the reaction between pyrite and CuCl2 solution were conducted. According to the physicochemical characteristics of the ore-forming fluid of the Dongguashan copper deposit, Anhui Province, 100 MPa was selected as the experimental pressure, and the experimental temperatures were set at 450, 350, 250 and 150°C, respectively. The reactions between pyrite grains isolated from the Shimenkou strata-bound pyrite deposit and the solution with 0.2 mol/L CuCl2 and 1.0 mol/L NaCl were experimentally simulated. Then, variations in surface topography and surface chemistry of the experimental pyrite grains were documented using scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Auger electron spectrometry (AES) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the solution and newly formed minerals were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma (ICP-AES) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Desulphurization of pyrite surface was observed and new copper minerals were detected. It is proposed that pyrite can act as a geochemical barrier for the enrichment and precipitation of copper from the solution under the experimental conditions. Furthermore, the ore-forming mechanism of sedimentary hydrothermal-diplogenetic copper deposits was discussed.  相似文献

Gersdorffite from two mineralization types (post-Variscan vein deposits, strata-bound mineralization) was investigated in the Niederberg area Rhenish Massif. In the ternary Ni–Co–Fe space gersdorffite from post-Variscan vein deposits displays a tight cluster with the highest Ni-contents ranging from 0.825 to 0.962 atoms per formula unit (a.p.f.u.). As/S ratios comprise a narrow range from 0.875 to 1.012. In contrast gersdorffite from the strata-bound mineralization displays a substitutional trend. Co and Fe substitute for Ni in a ± fixed ratio. Ni ranges between 0.494 and 0.836 a.p.f.u. As/S ratios (1.025–1.211) display a wider range and indicate higher As-contents relative to gersdorffite from post-Variscan vein deposits. Based on these results, two different hydrothermal fluid systems can be identified in the Niederberg area forming gersdorffite in both mineralization types. The hydrothermal fluids circulating in the post-Variscan vein deposits were homogeneous (high Ni-activities, lower As fugacities) and mixing occurred far away from the site of deposition whereas the fluids of the strata-bound mineralization were more heterogeneous (decreasing Ni-activities) with moderate elevated As fugacities. With respect to the post-Variscan vein deposits in the Niederberg area the results are compatible with earlier findings.Comparison with available gersdorffite analyses from adjacent areas (borehole Viersen, Ramsbeck deposit) reveal that gersdorffite compositions provide a reliable tool in distinguishing between different hydrothermal systems on a regional scale in the northern Rhenish Massif. However, gersdorffite compositions cannot be used to discriminate between Variscan and post-Variscan deposits with confidence. The country rocks in the Niederberg area are possible sources for Ni, Co and Fe during gersdorffite formation of the strata-bound mineralization. However, due to the remarkable homogeneity of gersdorffite compositions of the post-Variscan vein deposits irrespective of age and composition of the immediate adjacent host-rocks it is assumed that these host-rocks are not the source of the metals. Reduced Zechstein sulfate is assumed to be the source of sulfur. The As source remains unknown.Due to conflicting experimental data concerning the gersdorffite solid solution field it is not possible to derive reliable formation temperatures for the strata-bound mineralization. However, gersdorffite compositions of the post-Variscan vein deposits are compatible with low formation temperatures (<300 °C) in accordance with earlier findings.  相似文献

Considering the history and current state of the problem of the so-called metallogenic specialization of magmatic rocks, the paper places emphasis onto various aspects of the genesis of ore mineralization depending on the redox state of magmas (as a logical continuation of S. Ishihara’s works), fluids, and host rocks. These problems were inadequately poorly explored and discussed by researchers dealing with ore deposits. Various possible variants of ore-forming redox processes for different types of mineral deposits, with ore mineralization affiliated to granites (Ta, Sn, W, Mo, and Be) and mafic magmas (Au, Ag, U, Cu, Zn, Pb, As, Sb, and Hg) and, accordingly, to crustal and mantle origin, are discussed. On the basis of analyzed geological data, including those published over the past three decades, it is shown that the redox state of ore-producing magmas commonly significantly impacted not only the ore potential of magmatic complexes but also the genetic type of the ore mineralization. The redox state of the fluids predetermined the transport and precipitation speciation of metals. Influence mechanisms of hydrocarbons from sedimentary country rocks and gaseous products of their pyrolysis on ore deposition of various metals are considered. Understanding these mechanisms can be helpful for predicting the possible precipitation sites of ore mineralization of noble, radioactive, and chalcophile metals.  相似文献

The Zhuxi deposit is a recently discovered W–Cu deposit located in the Jiangnan porphyry–skarn W belt in South China. The deposit has a resource of 3.44 million tonnes of WO3, making it the largest on Earth, however its origin and the evolution of its magmatic–hydrothermal system remain unclear, largely because alteration–mineralization types in this giant deposit have been less well-studied, apart from a study of the calcic skarn orebodies. The different types of mineralization can be classified into magnesian skarn, calcic skarn, and scheelite–quartz–muscovite(SQM) vein types. Field investigations and mineralogical analyses show that the magnesian skarn hosted by dolomitic limestone is characterized by garnet of the grossular–pyralspite(pyrope, almandine, and spessartine) series, diopside, serpentine, and Mg-rich chlorite. The calcic skarn hosted by limestone is characterized by garnet of the grossular–andradite series, hedenbergite, wollastonite, epidote, and Fe-rich chlorite. The SQM veins host highgrade W–Cu mineralization and have overprinted the magnesian and calcic skarn orebodies. Scheelite is intergrown with hydrous silicates in the retrograde skarn, or occurs with quartz, chalcopyrite, sulfide minerals, fluorite, and muscovite in the SQM veins.Fluid inclusion investigations of the gangue and ore minerals revealed the evolution of the ore-forming fluids, which involved:(1) melt and coexisting high–moderate-salinity, high-temperature, high-pressure(>450 ℃and >1.68 kbar), methane-bearing aqueous fluids that were trapped in prograde skarn minerals;(2) moderate–low-salinity, moderate-temperature, moderate-pressure(~210–300 ℃and ~0.64 kbar),methane-rich aqueous fluids that formed the retrograde skarn-type W orebodies;(3) low-salinity,moderate–low-temperature, moderate-pressure(~150–240 ℃and ~0.56 kbar), methane-rich aqueous fluids that formed the quartz–sulfide Cu(–W) orebodies in skarn;(4) moderate–low-salinity,moderate-temperature, low-pressure(~150–250 ℃and ~0.34 kbar) alkanes-dominated aqueous fluids in the SQM vein stage, which led to the formation of high-grade W–Cu orebodies. The S–Pb isotopic compositions of the sulfides suggest that the ore-forming materials were mainly derived from magma generated by crustal anatexis, with minor addition of a mantle component. The H–O isotopic compositions of quartz and scheelite indicate that the ore-forming fluids originated mainly from magmatic water with later addition of meteoric water. The C–O isotopic compositions of calcite indicate that the ore-forming fluid was originally derived from granitic magma, and then mixed with reduced fluid exsolved from local carbonate strata. Depressurization and resultant fluid boiling were key to precipitation of W in the retrograde skarn stage. Mixing of residual fluid with meteoric water led to a decrease in fluid salinity and Cu(–W) mineralization in the quartz–sulfide stage in skarn. The high-grade W–Cu mineralization in the SQM veins formed by multiple mechanisms, including fracturing, and fluid immiscibility, boiling, and mixing.  相似文献

The Strange Lake plutonic complex consists of three annular Mid-Proterozoic arfvedsonite-aegirine-bearing alkali granites emplaced in the Rae province of the Canadian Shield. The mineralogy, chemistry and structural setting of the complex are very similar to that of many peralkaline central salic complexes associated with the development of the Gardar rift in southern Greeland. The Strange Lake granites are highly fractionated (Rb/Sr=5 to 160 and K/Rb=27 to 120) and carry unusually high abundances of HFSE and REE-bearing exotic minerals (e.g. pyrochlore, gittinsite, elpidite, gadolinite and kainosite) which are reflected in the elevated HFSE (e.g.Zr=307 to 16800 ppm) and REE (e.g. La=84 to 1337 ppm) contents of the granites. HFSE and REE increase from the oldest intrusive unit, which is hypersolvus and unaltered, to the youngest, which is subsolvus and metasomatized. The unaltered granites display a restricted range of 18O values (+8.2 to+9.6) and low 18O signatures for fresh arfvedsonite/aegirine (+4.8 to+5.2). Anomalously high CaO (0.7 to 3.2 wt%) and MgO (0.1 to 0.6wt%) concentrations characterize the altered subsolvus granites. These rocks also have elevated whole rock 18O values (+9.6 to +11.9), negative 18Oquartz-alk.feld. (-0.1 to-1.6), and high 18O values of altered arfvedsonite (i.e.+6.5 to 13.75) that correlates positively with whole rock 18O values. The chemical and isotopic data are consistent with a model in which the least evolved alkali granites are formed through differentiation from trachytic (syenitic) parents. Extreme HFSE and REE-enrichment may have been accomplished by differentiation through fractional crystallization and heterogenous distribution of F-rich silicic residual melts in which the REE and HFSE are transported as fluorocomplexes. The O-isotopic values are consistent with the circulation of low temperature (lt;200°C) hydrothermal fluids in the youngest subsolvus intrusive unit which caused extensive Ca (Mg and Sr) metasomatism and fluorine leaching, widespread hematization, and remobilization of the HFSE and REE.  相似文献

The Obama geothermal field is one of the most interesting geothermal areas in Kyushu Island, Southwestern Japan, because of its large number of high-temperature springs. A 3D numerical simulation study using the simulator TOUGH2 (module EOS3) was carried out to obtain a comprehensive hydrothermal model of the field. From previous geochemical studies, two main fluid sources were suggested for the Obama geothermal system: cold (sea, surface, and ground) water and deep geothermal fluids. We propose two heat sources, a lateral one at the eastern boundary of the system, near the West Unzen High Temperature Body located west of the Unzen fumarolic field, and a second one beneath the Obama geothermal field. The first source contributes the system by 150°C fluids. The second source contributes by 100°C fluids. Our model indicates that the first source has a temperature of 150°C, which agrees with the results from previous geochemical studies. The low enthalpy of the second source could be explained by the mixing of geothermal fluids with seawater, as the area is near the seashore and is highly faulted. The model that was developed can explain many of the subsurface processes active in the Obama geothermal field.  相似文献

Study of Early Cambrian sedimentary-volcanogenic complexes hosting the Kyzyl–Tashtyg pyrite deposit in Eastern Tuva has revealed cyanobacteria and algae that existed in zones of ore-forming hydrothermal systems similar in characteristics to present-day “black smokers” at ocean bottoms. Along with archaeocyaths and Cyanophyta from the host sedimentary rocks and microfossils from basalt amygdules, various cyanobacteria, monocyatheans, and sponge spicules have been found in ferrosiliceous deposits and metasedimentary rocks. Scanning electron microscopic, mineralogical, and thermobarogeochemical studies helped to reconstruct their hydrothermal environment.  相似文献

The ore-formational, ore-facies, lithological, and mineralogical-geochemical criteria are defined for the detection of hydrothermal ecosystem fauna in ores of the volcanic-hosted massive sulfide deposits in the Urals. Abundant mineralized microfauna is found mainly in massive sulfide mounds formed in the jasperous basalt (Buribai, Priorsk, Yubileinoe, Sultanov), rhyolite—basalt (Yaman-Kasy, Blyava, Komosomol’sk, Sibai, Molodezhnoe, Valentorsk), and the less common serpentinite (Dergamysh) formations of the Urals (O—D2). In the ore-formational series of the massive sulfide deposits, probability of the detection of mineralized fauna correlates inversely with the relative abundance of felsic volcanic rocks underlying the ores. This series is also marked by a gradual disappearance of colloform pyrite, marcasite, isocubanite, pyrrhotite, and pyrite pseudomorphoses after pyrrhotite; increase of the amount of bornite, fahlores, and barite; decrease of contents of Se, Te, Co, and Sn in chalcopyrite and sphalerite; and inсrease of Tl, As, Sb, and Pb in the colloform pyrite. Probability of the detection of mineralized fauna in the morphogenetic series of massive sulfide deposits decreases from the weakly degraded sulfide mounds to the clastic stratiform deposits. The degradation degree of sulfide mounds and fauna preservation correlates with the attenuation of volcanic intensity, which is reflected in the abundance of sedimentary and volcanosedimentary rocks and the depletion of effusive rocks in the geological sections.  相似文献

This paper presents original data on the content and distribution of major and rare-earth elements in the modern hydrothermal systems of the Paratunka and Bol’shebannyi thermal water deposits. In spite of the similar geochemical type of the waters, the individual sites of the hydrothermal systems differ in the major component composition, which is caused by the time of water–rock interaction, temperature control, and the possible influence of seawater intrusions. The REE concentrations in the studied thermal waters are extremely low (a few tenths of ppb). A distinctive feature of these thermal waters is the presence of a positive Eu anomaly. The possible reasons for its appearance are discussed. Calculation of REE speciation shows that the main parameters controlling the formation of the REE complexes in the Paratunka and Bol’shebannyi hydrothermal systems are their individual chemical properties, as well as pH, Eh, and temperature of the aqueous solution.  相似文献

Base-metal deposits in the Caçapava do Sul Copper Province are hosted by both volcanosedimentary rocks of the Bom Jardim Group and by metamorphic rocks of the Passo Feio Formation, and show a spatial relationship to the Caçapava Granite. These associations have led to much controversy about the genesis of the base-metal deposits, which has been at least partly resolved by precise dating using SHRIMP (Sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe) U/Pb zircon studies combined with S, Pb, and Sr isotope trace studies. The Passo Feio Formation is Neoproterozoic in age and was derived from a complex continental source, as shown by the presence of xenocryst zircons of Archaean, Paleoproterozoic, and Neoproterozoic ages. It was metamorphosed at ca. 700 Ma. The syntectonic Caçapava Granite that intruded the supracrustal rocks of the Passo Feio Formation at 562 Ma was derived from an old sialic basement.Lead-isotope data are consistent with a 562 Ma age for the base-metal sulphide deposits sited in the Passo Feio Formation. The least-radiogenic compositions lie between the field of the isotopic compositions of the Caçapava Granite and rocks of the Passo Feio Formation, suggesting that Pb in the sulphide deposits may have been derived from both sources. The Pb, like that in the Caçapava Granite and Passo Feio Formation, was derived from a primitive crustal source. Sulphur isotope data from the base-metal sulphide deposits in the Passo Feio Formation are compatible with a mixed sedimentary and magmatic source. The most logical model for ore genesis, based on the isotopic data and spatial relationships, is that magmatic metal-bearing fluids from Caçapava Granite leached metals from the Passo Feio Formation and that the deposited sulphides therefore show mixed isotopic signatures. However, there is also some isotopic evidence from the Caçapava Granite itself that suggests assimilation of S-bearing rocks of the Passo Feio Formation during emplacement. Thus, isotopic signatures could have been inherited from assimilated metal sulphides at this stage, and deposition could have been entirely from Caçapava Granite-derived magmatic fluids.Importantly, the inferred 562±8 Ma age for the deposits in the Passo Feio Formation is younger than the well-constrained age of 594±5 Ma for the Camaquã/Santa Maria deposits. Thus, the epigenetic sulphides in the Passo Feio Formation cannot be the source of these deposits as previously suggested. Other isotopic data also argue against such a model.  相似文献

Formation of the Urals Volcanic-Hosted Massive Sulphide (VHMS) deposits is considered to be related with the intra-oceanic stage of the island arc(s) development in Late Ordovician – Middle Devonian time (ca. 460–385 Ma) based on the biostratigraphic record of ore-hosting sedimentary rocks. However, the known radiometric ages of ore hosting volcanics are very limited. Here we present direct dating results of sulphide mineralisation from the Yaman-Kasy and Kul-Yurt-Tau VHMS deposits using Re-Os isotope systematics showing similar mineralisation ages of 362 ± 9 Ma and 363 ± 1 Ma. These ages coincide with the previous Re-Os dating of the Alexandrinskoe (355 ± 15 Ma) and Dergamysh (366 ± 2 Ma) VHMS deposits. This Late Devonian (Famennian) age corresponds to the late stage of the ‘Magnitogorsk arc – Laurussia continent’ collision event and coincides with a beginning of large scale subduction-related granitoid magmatism. The younger mineralisation age relative to the biostratigraphic ages of host rocks is interpreted as one of the latest episodes of the multi-stage history of VHMS deposits development. Ar-Ar ages of sericites from metasomatic rocks of Barsuchi Log and Babaryk deposits show even younger ages clustering around 345 Ma, and testify another late hydrothermal event in the history of the Urals VHMS deposits.  相似文献

Fresh rocks sampled from the 14.0°S hydrothermal field of the South Atlantic Ridge can be divided into two categories: olivine-gabbro and basalt. The olivine-gabbro is composed mainly of three types of minerals: olivine, clinopyroxene and plagioclase, while a multitude of melt inclusions occur in the plagioclase phenocrysts of the basalts. We analyzed the whole-rock, major and trace elements contents of the basaks, the mineral chemistry of phenocrysts and melt inclusions in the basalts, and the mineral chemistry of olivine-clinopyroxene-plagioclase in the olivine-gabbro, then simulated magma evolution within the crust using the COMAGMAT program. The whole-rock geochemistry shows that all the basalts exhibit typical N-MORB characteristics. In addition, the mineral chemistry characteristics of the olivine-gabbro (low-Fo olivine, low-Mg# clinopyroxene, high-TiO2 clinopyroxene, low-An plagioclase), show that strong magma differentiation occurred within the crust. Nevertheless, significant discrepancies between those minerals and phenocrysts in the basalts (high-Fo olivine, high-An plagioclase) reflect the heterogeneity of magma differentiation. High Mg# (-~0.72) melt inclusions isobaric partial crystallization simulations suggest that the magma differentiation occurred at the depth shallower than 13.03 km below the seafloor, and both the vertical differentiation column shows distinct discrepancies from that of a steady-state magma chamber. Instead, a series of independent magma intrusions probably occurred within the crust, and their corresponding crystallized bodies, as the primary high-temperature thermal anomalies within the off-axis crust, probably act as the heat source for the development of the 14.0°S hydrothermal system.  相似文献

Oxygen isotopic exchange between quartz and water, using a novel technique in which both 18O/16O and 17O/16O fractionations were measured, yielded an equilibrium fractionation Δ18 = 9.0 at 250°C and 15 kbar. The reaction proceeds predominantly by solution of fine grains and growth of larger grains. Exchange by solid-state diffusion is immeasurably slow at this temperature. Under the same experimental conditions, cristobalite behaves quite differently, becoming transformed to sub-micron quartz crystals in a few minutes. The phase transformation is accompanied by a kinetic isotope effect yielding quartz in isotopic disequilibrium with water. It is possible that such disequilibrium products are also formed in other experiments involving phase transitions or mineral syntheses.  相似文献

Wakefieldite-(Ce,La) and vanadinite in coarse-grained calciocarbonatites (sövites) are for the first time reported from the northeastern part of the worldwide largest fluorite deposit at the Amba Dongar carbonatite ring dike, India. Sövite in this part of the carbonatite ring dike is rich in pyrochlore, calcite and magnetite. Pyrochlore makes up almost 50% of some sövite samples and shows core-to-rim compositional changes. The core of pyrochlore consists of primary fluorcalciopyrochlore with high F and Na contents while the margins gained elevated amounts of Pb, La and Ce with the associated loss of F and Na due to circulation of hydrothermal solutions. The presence of wakefieldite-(Ce,La) and vanadinite points to an exceptionally high V abundance in hydrothermal solutions formed towards the end of the carbonatite magma activity. This investigation thus opens new promising areas for Nb and REE prospection in the eastern part of the Amba Dongar carbonatite body.  相似文献

The Southern Copper Belt, Carajás Province, Brazil, hosts several iron oxide–copper–gold (IOCG) deposits, including Sossego, Cristalino, Alvo 118, Bacuri, Bacaba, Castanha, and Visconde. Mapping and U–Pb sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) IIe zircon geochronology allowed the characterization of the host rocks, situated within regional WNW–ESE shear zones. They encompass Mesoarchean (3.08–2.85 Ga) TTG orthogneiss, granites, and remains of greenstone belts, Neoarchean (ca. 2.74 Ga) granite, shallow-emplaced porphyries, and granophyric granite coeval with gabbro, and Paleoproterozoic (1.88 Ga) porphyry dykes. Extensive hydrothermal zones include albite–scapolite, biotite–scapolite–tourmaline–magnetite alteration, and proximal potassium feldspar, chlorite–epidote and chalcopyrite formation. U–Pb laser ablation multicollector inductively coupled mass spectrometry (LA-MC-ICP-MS) analysis of ore-related monazite and Re–Os NTIMS analysis of molybdenite suggest multiple Neoarchean (2.76 and 2.72–2.68 Ga) and Paleoproterozoic (2.06 Ga) hydrothermal events at the Bacaba and Bacuri deposits. These results, combined with available geochronological data from the literature, indicate recurrence of hydrothermal systems in the Southern Copper Belt, including 1.90–1.88-Ga ore formation in the Sossego–Curral ore bodies and the Alvo 118 deposit. Although early hydrothermal evolution at 2.76 Ga points to fluid migration coeval with the Carajás Basin formation, the main episode of IOCG genesis (2.72–2.68 Ga) is related to basin inversion coupled with Neoarchean (ca. 2.7 Ga) felsic magmatism. The data suggest that the IOCG deposits in the Southern Copper Belt and those in the Northern Copper Belt (2.57-Ga Salobo and Igarapé Bahia–Alemão deposits) do not share a common metallogenic evolution. Therefore, the association of all IOCG deposits of the Carajás Province with a single extensive hydrothermal system is precluded.  相似文献
