Abstract

Mission Geography is a collaboration between the United States' National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) and the American “Geography Education National Implementation Project” (GENIP), created to provide for and develop curriculum supplementary material for teachers of grades Kindergarten through High School (grade twelve). Mission Geography uses NASA imagery and scientific inquiries to teach about Earth. This paper provides an example of how geographic concepts concerning volcanoes and volcanic hazards can be taught at the American middle school level (grades 5‐8) using NASA resources  相似文献

Abstract

</p>Gamepads and joysticks have the potential to improve spatial navigation in virtual globes, block diagrams and 2D maps. Digital school atlases, in particular, can become more engaging if support for gamepads and joysticks is added, as children and adolescents are very proficient at using these devices. The fusion of gaming devices and interactive school atlases offers interesting new use cases: teachers can control a digital wall map with a remote-control gamepad while lecturing from the front of the classroom, or students can explore maps on their personal computers using an enticing way to interact. This paper presents these use cases, the characteristics of the most common gaming devices, and discusses spatial navigation with gamepads and joysticks for globes, block diagrams and 2D maps. The ideas presented originated from the ongoing development of a new, interactive version of the Swiss World Atlas for schools.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=5A172168B32099AE544AB8BD3EC6ADF4&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">3.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=6660A09BBC0E0857ED45449FE508A662&aid=58A97B94B44A0BF9A2FBFEFDF3133B11&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=B31275AF3241DB2D&iid=B31275AF3241DB2D&sid=90773C2285A2F0BB&eid=70E3F4DEB0172F14&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Exploring the reasons for the seasons using Google Earth, 3D models, and plots</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a class="a2" href="#">《International Journal of Digital Earth》</a>2013,6(6):582-603 </div> <div><b>ABSTRACT</b></p>Public understanding of climate and climate change is of broad societal importance. However, misconceptions regarding reasons for the seasons abound amongst students, teachers, and the public, many of whom believe that seasonality is caused by large variations in Earth’s distance from the Sun. Misconceptions may be reinforced by textbook illustrations that exaggerate eccentricity or show an inclined view of Earth’s near-circular orbit. Textbook explanations that omit multiple factors influencing seasons, that do not mesh with students’ experiences, or that are erroneous, hinder scientifically valid reasoning. Studies show that many teachers share their students’ misconceptions, and even when they understand basic concepts, teachers may fail to appreciate the range of factors contributing to seasonal change, or their relative importance. We have therefore developed a learning resource using Google Earth, a virtual globe with other useful, weather- and climate-related visualizations. A classroom test of 27 undergraduates in a public research university showed that 15 improved their test scores after the Google Earth-based laboratory class, whereas 5 disimproved. Mean correct answers rose from 4.7/10 to 6/10, giving a paired <i>t</i>-test value of 0.21. After using Google Earth, students are helped to segue to a heliocentric view.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=58A97B94B44A0BF9A2FBFEFDF3133B11&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">4.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=E21E6737789C2A7768D86BFF5ACD8BDC&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=E158A972A605785F&sid=9FFCC7AF50CAEBF7&eid=CB423C9A71560A74&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Design and Production of an Atlas for Diplomacy in Zimbabwe and The Southern African Development Community</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Thomas+W.+Crawford+Jr." target="_blank">Thomas W. Two copies of the bound atlas are used by the Embassy of the United States of America (U.S. Embassy) and the Mission of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Harare, Zimbabwe, to orient visitors and discuss matters of diplomacy and development in Zimbabwe and the Southern African Development Community. The atlas contains maps derived from satellite images showing features of the physical geography of Southern Africa and Zimbabwe and plastic overlays showing rivers and lakes and manmade features, such as major roads, railroads, and cities. The atlas is an important tool that American diplomats can use to orient participants in discussions of the environment and to develop agreements for management of the environment in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=E21E6737789C2A7768D86BFF5ACD8BDC&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">5.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=747C8B6119F18DD99E0A11F1DB2296DF&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=E158A972A605785F&sid=8BD23BD67BF01A5C&eid=CB423C9A71560A74&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Three‐dimensional displays for natural hazards analysis, using classified Landsat thematic mapper digital data and large‐scale digital elevation models</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=David+R.+Butler" target="_blank">David R. Oblique aerial photography using handheld cameras for image acquisition from a light high‐wing aircraft offers an excellent learning experience for students in a first course in remote sensing and offers a useful research tool for graduate students and faculty engaged in environmental investigations. This paper is essentially a guide, covering all aspects of hand‐held camera aerial imaging and the subsequent processing needed to produce low‐obliques, stereograms, anaglyphs, and flight line mosaics. Scales, ground coverage distances, and stereogram and mosaic timing intervals, are included along with a section on the calculations used to produce these numbers. A list of additional resources concludes the paper.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=747C8B6119F18DD99E0A11F1DB2296DF&language=0" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">6.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=0B356E83365D5D5B3C2287BA632FFDD4&aid=996F20222D6868345A01B1D798C8ADF3&yid=67289AFF6305E306&vid=59906B3B2830C2C5&iid=0B39A22176CE99FB&sid=D537C66B6404FE57&eid=FDC7AF55F77D8CD4&referenced_num=" target="_blank">The Development of the Chagas' Online Data Entry System (CODES-GIS)</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Jason+K+Blackburn" target="_blank">Jason K Blackburn</a>  <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=rew+Curtis" target="_blank">rew Curtis</a>  <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Frances+Currin+Mujica" target="_blank">Frances Currin Mujica</a>  <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Farrell+Jones" target="_blank">Farrell Jones</a>  <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Patricia+Dorn" target="_blank">Patricia Dorn</a>  <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Rosamond+Coates" target="_blank">Rosamond Coates</a> <a class="a2" href="#">《Transactions in GIS》</a>2008,12(2):249-265 </div> <div>This article describes a web‐based data entry and GIS‐driven mapping system designed for an ethnographic and entomological survey of Chagas’ disease, an emerging zoonotic disease, and <i>Triatoma dimidiata</i>, a primary vector, in the Los Tuxtlas region of Veracruz, Mexico. To better understand this disease in the region, a collaborative, multi‐disciplinary study was initiated to conduct a spatial investigation of <i>T. dimidiata </i>and a community‐by‐community survey of local perceptions of the disease. In order to facilitate such a collaborative effort the CODES‐GIS was developed. This system allows for (near) real‐time mapping, analyses, disease reporting, and results sharing. CODES‐GIS provides a framework for a research team working in a remote area with limited technology, software, or GIS expertise to benefit from (near) real‐time spatial analyses performed at collaborating institutions. The system is bi‐directional, where field personnel can upload data to the system for field‐based map production. Likewise, laboratory personnel can upload diagnostics data for viewing by field personnel. In this way, the system provides a virtual link between the field and the laboratory to increase the speed at which results are returned to the local community. The CODES‐GIS is described along with a selection of study results.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=996F20222D6868345A01B1D798C8ADF3&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">7.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=E21E6737789C2A77B3F34A02B9F28DA7&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=E158A972A605785F&sid=08805F9252973BA4&eid=6700D0D256586E73&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Delineating a Study Area Within a Rectangular Data Set: A Class Exercise</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Paul+R.+Baumann" target="_blank">Paul R. The exercise shows students some techniques for delineating a non‐rectangular study area within a rectangular image data set. Rectangular data sets frequently create problems for students when their areas of interest arepolygonal in shape. An inexpensive image processing software package called Earthscope is used in this exercise.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=E21E6737789C2A77B3F34A02B9F28DA7&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">8.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A84927B67755CA33297E5BFAC1BF8CCC&aid=EB3AADA78A38B8B778448CB024FC81DD&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=771152D1ADC1C0EB&iid=0B39A22176CE99FB&sid=ED01F5AE50BE09C0&eid=954CE65414DD94CA&referenced_num=" target="_blank">ATLAS OF THE LATVIAN SSR</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=F.+F.+Boyko" target="_blank">F. The atlas is a prototype, designed as a model for implementation of atlases to support government cancer-control activities. This model integrates symbolisation and design principles from print cartography, interaction strategies from exploratory geovisualisation, and web-map/web-feature service advances from GIS. The atlas has been implemented using a client-server architecture. It makes use of two open-source GIS tools, PostGIS (as the system database) and GeoServer (to connect the database to the client mapping application). The client mapping application has been built in Macromedia Flash. The entire client-server architecture is described, then direct primary emphasis is focused on the client mapping application. For this component of the system, the interface design strategy is detailed, the approach taken to implement this strategy in Flash is documented, and the mechanisms developed to build dynamic links from the client to the underlying database through the server are outlined. Features of the atlas are presented through a prototypical use scenario for a target user.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=26AAC6900D0B8A114D0E009CBF4F4E03&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">10.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=1EAFE3E626147FFD99DAD0378F9E1890&aid=94B60B1814EE12C5537E50EF62518E7F&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=771152D1ADC1C0EB&iid=CA4FD0336C81A37A&sid=1371F55DA51B6E64&eid=ECE8E54D6034F642&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Geographic information systems in Europe</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a class="a2" href="#">《The Cartographic journal》</a>2013,50(1):40-42 </div> <div><b>Abstract</b></p>Electronic atlases possess certain advantages over their paper counterparts. Grappling with local, regional, and global issues of the 21st century requires people who think spatially and who can use geotechnologies. Some educators teach geotechnologies as a discipline, emphasising skills. Other educators use geotechnologies as a tool to teach content, such as geography, history, environmental studies, Earth Science, biology, mathematics, economics and other disciplines. Issues such as traffic, population growth, urban sprawl, energy, water, crime, human health, biodiversity and sustainable agriculture are growing in complexity, exist at every scale and increasingly affect people's everyday lives. Each of these issues has a spatial component. Drivers for geotechnology education include educational content standards, constructivism, the school-to-career movement, active learning, citizenship education, authentic practice and assessment, interdisciplinary education, community connections and a sustained, increasing demand for GIS professionals. Digital Earth is an ideal framework for contextualising domains of inquiry. The Digital Earth community can have a significant impact on the growth of geotechnologies in education, and conversely, the growth of geotechnologies in education and society can foster the forward movement of Earth systems concepts.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=58A97B94B44A0BF90D332020CC3195BB&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">12.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=F5E15F49EFA6F3FA04B5BDFFC68ED5CC&aid=7F9FA8B8A58DCA4A95354DE605A61CA4&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=1371F55DA51B6E64&iid=CA4FD0336C81A37A&sid=228A710F49B6CE58&eid=CD775AE9DDBD7B53&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Continuity markers as an aid for children in finding the peripheral continuity of world maps</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Pontus+Hennerdal" target="_blank">Pontus Hennerdal</a> <a class="a2" href="#">《制图学和地理信息科学》</a>2013,40(1):76-85 </div> <div><b>ABSTRACT</b></p>Many map readers, including both children and adults, find it difficult to determine where they would be located along the edge of a world map after crossing that edge. Different types of markers have long been drawn close to the map’s edge – for example, in an atlas – to help map readers identify the map upon which they will find themselves if that edge is passed. In this study, a method similar to that used to show the continuity between maps in an atlas has been tested to determine whether continuity markers can also be used to help map readers find a world map’s actual peripheral continuity. The study involved children between the ages of 10 and 13 years and showed that continuity markers do help children determine the map’s actual peripheral continuity, in combination with a lesson that describes how to find the actual peripheral continuity of a world map. This article, therefore, concludes that continuity markers for world maps can be a useful part of map design that clarifies how the edges of a world map fit together for children who have learned to use this tool.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=7F9FA8B8A58DCA4A95354DE605A61CA4&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">13.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=E21E6737789C2A77DF1AC2E5B31E7D47&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=E158A972A605785F&sid=B9704B40A4225A24&eid=9C65ADEB5990B252&referenced_num=" target="_blank">A Place to Howl: A GIS Instructional Module on the Mexican Gray Wolf</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Paul+R.+Baumann" target="_blank">Paul R. Regression models predicting age (R2=0.62) and a logarithmic transformation of age (R2 = 0.90) used a combination of visible, near‐infrared, and middle‐infrared TM bands. Forest age maps produced using the regression method match broad‐scale patterns of forest age within the Yellowstone Central Plateau study area. Per‐pixel estimates of forest age, however, may depart substantially from actual forest age, particularly for older stands, and the maps are most appropriate for depicting regional patterns of forest age.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=E21E6737789C2A7711AA904720C33844&language=0" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">15.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=E21E6737789C2A77C3DF4D0A1F6959CD&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=CA4FD0336C81A37A&sid=8E6AB9C3EBAAE921&eid=BFE7933E5EEA150D&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Analysis of Multitemporal NDVI Data for Crop Yield Forecasting in the Sahel</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Carlo+Bozzini" target="_blank">Carlo Bozzini</a>  <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Fabio+Maselli" target="_blank">Fabio Maselli</a> <a class="a2" href="#">《国际地球制图》</a>2013,28(1):53-60 </div> <div><b>Abstract</b></p> Recent investigations demonstrated that inter‐year NOAA‐AVHRR NDVI variations at the middle of the rainy season can provide information on annual crop yields in Sahelian countries. This line of research is presently extended to the consideration of multitemporal NDVI data for several years (1986-1991) pre‐processed by a proven methodology. The investigation was conducted using NDVI and crop yield data from the sahelian sub‐districts of Niger. The results confirm that geographically standardized NDVI data are efficient for crop yield forecasting, but notable differences exist in this prediction capability depending on the beginning of the season. Late beginnings of the growing (rainy) season (after the end of June) allow optimum forecasting only after mid‐August, while early beginnings lead to anticipate the forecasting capability but also to decrease its accuracy. The importance of these findings in the context of an early warning system is finally discussed.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=E21E6737789C2A77C3DF4D0A1F6959CD&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">16.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=E21E6737789C2A77EEEFEBC4BE12316F&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=CA4FD0336C81A37A&sid=B9704B40A4225A24&eid=46CB27789995047D&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Imagery Scale and Type for Natural Hazards Analysis: Classroom Examples Using Forest Fires and Snow Avalanches</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=David+R.+Butler" target="_blank">David R. Some forms of imagery that are appropriate for analyses of spatially fixed, relatively fine‐scale hazards are inappropriate for use with geographically widespread and transient hazards, and vice versa. In this paper we utilize one study area, Waterton‐Glacier International Peace Park (Canada and USA), and two natural hazard types (snow avalanches and forest fires), to illustrate how these remote sensing principles can be presented to students of natural hazards. We also address the issue of familiarity, or lack thereof, that students have with different images from a variety of platforms.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=E21E6737789C2A77EEEFEBC4BE12316F&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">17.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=A52DF655F76B858D80C7F1FCA3E77756&aid=E21E6737789C2A7722AD26DD6FAEC667&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=D3E34374A0D77D7F&iid=CA4FD0336C81A37A&sid=CD775AE9DDBD7B53&eid=869807E2D7BED9EC&referenced_num=总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1" target="_blank">Field Techniques in Remote Sensing: Learning by Doing</a>   <em><strong>总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1</strong></em>   </div> <div> <a href="search_by_author.aspx?subject=astronomy_earth_science&major=chx&field=author_name&encoding=utf-8&q=Donald+C.+Rundquist" target="_blank">Donald C. The text describes how a “learning‐by‐doing strategy” is applied to such a course. More specifically, the paper describes how the instructor requires students to design, construct, and actually implement “hardware solutions” to problems involving collection of spectral (and ancillary) data in the field. Pupils must test their developed methodologies and “technological creations” with regard to a focused research problem undertaken in a difficult field setting during a week‐long outdoor experience. The students are expected to evaluate, and possibly modify, their methods and procedures “on‐the‐fly.” Individual group research problems, methods, and hardware solutions are briefly described, and selected student evaluations of the experience are provided.  <a href="relate_search.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&aid=E21E6737789C2A7722AD26DD6FAEC667&language=1" target="_blank">相似文献</a>    </div> <div><br></div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <div class="search_article"> <div class="search_articleleft">18.</div> <div class="search_articleright"> <div> <a class="a1" href="view_abstract.aspx?pcid=E62459D214FD64A3C8082E4ED1ABABED5711027BBBDDD35B&cid=A41A70F4AB56AB1B&jid=1EAFE3E626147FFD99DAD0378F9E1890&aid=26AAC6900D0B8A1106485F3FCD7450E1&yid=FF7AA908D58E97FA&vid=771152D1ADC1C0EB&iid=E158A972A605785F&sid=D0182A31A5EB14BA&eid=358F98408588E522&referenced_num=" target="_blank">Observations Italian Composite Atlases and a Belgian Undescribed Copy</a>   <em><strong></strong></em>   </div> <div> <a class="a2" href="#">《The Cartographic journal》</a>2013,50(4):296-303 </div> <div><b>Abstract</b></p>Although Italian composite atlases of the 16th century are seldom mentioned in the literature on historical cartography, these collections are very important for preserving a large number of maps that might otherwise be lost forever.
