This paper analyzes how Mexican hometown associations in New York City practice solidarity so that they might best meet the needs of the transnational communities that they serve. Commonly formed by immigrants in the United States, hometown associations are organizations which send money collectively to their home countries, supporting public infrastructure and community projects. Scholars have debated both the merits of remittance programs that channel migrant funds as economic development and the agency of immigrant economies in neoliberal development structures. Through primary data collected from interviews in New York City, I review the frustrations that hometown associations have with one such program: Mexico's programa tres por uno para migrantes. Concurrently, I examine how the same hometown associations engage ethical economic practices of collective remittance sending and community service provision in New York City. Drawing on feminist literature on diverse economies, I argue that the solidarity work of hometown associations disrupts the dominant remittance as development discourse. Migrants are not content to participate in tres por uno and through practicing solidarity they distance themselves from this neoliberal policy.  相似文献

This study seeks to analyze spatial linkages of high-technology (high-tech) firms in Korea and to suggest directions for high-tech industrial development policies for regional economic development. The data were derived from questionnaire and interview surveys conducted in high-tech firms throughout Korea. Patterns of spatial linkages and the intensity of local linkages of input materials, output sales, business services, and high-tech labor forces were analyzed. Characteristics of regions and high-tech firms are identified as significant dimensions in determining the intensity of local linkages of input and output materials. Four types of possible high-tech clusters, self-supporting, redeveloping, assembling, and dependent, are also identified based on the characteristics of regions and high-tech firms. Policy implications for successful high-tech industrial development in Korea are suggested from a consideration of the four types of high-tech cluster.  相似文献

Climate change caused by carbon emissions continuously threatens sustainable development. Due to China’s immense territory, there are remarkable regional differences in carbon emissions. The construction industry, which has strong internal industrial differences, further leads to carbon emission disparity in China. Policymakers should consider spatial effects and attempt to eliminate carbon emission inequality to promote the sustainable development of the construction industry and realize emission reduction targets. Based on the classic Markov chain and spatial Markov chain, this paper investigates the club convergence and spatial distribution dynamics of China’s carbon intensity in the construction industry from 2005 to 2014. The results show that the provincial carbon intensity in the construction industry is characterized by “convergence clubs” during the research period, and very low-level and very high-level convergence clubs have strong stability. Moreover, the carbon intensity class transitions of provinces tend to be consistent with that of their neighbors. Furthermore, the transition of carbon intensity types is highly influenced by their regional backgrounds. The provinces with high carbon emissions have a negative influence on their neighbors, whereas the provinces with low carbon emissions have a positive influence. These analyses provide a spatial interpretation to the “club convergence” of carbon intensity.  相似文献

To determine the Earth's dynamics and their equations, which are crucial for Earth science research, this paper analyzes the interaction forces in the motion of a three-body system(namely, fixed, active, and passive points), based on the orbital motion. The mathematical derivation has been conducted strictly according to trigonometric functions with time and space as variables. In spatial transformation, related data items are simplified and replaced reasonably and necessarily according to the physical phenomenon to conduct derivations of planar to spatial transformation, through which the motion point has universal significance. Moreover, the polynomial equation for the dynamics has been obtained. Results indicate that the polynomial expression for the dynamics comprises the tidal force, the powerful mid-latitude Force(PML Force), and gravitation. Gravitation analysis shows that it is proportional to the dynamics quality, the size of the angular velocity of their deviation from the progenitor–paternal orbital plane's center position, and the square of the progenitor orbital plane's distance. However, it is inversely proportional to the distance of the paternal orbital plane and not related to another body's quality. Some past errors are addressed and some constructive conclusions are offered in the discussion of gravitation.  相似文献

根据新疆51个台站1965-2015年夏季逐日降水资料,将降水划分为小雨、中雨及大雨3个等级,分析了新疆近51 a夏季不同等级降水量、降水日数及降水强度的空间分布特征,并讨论了各等级降水日、降水量及降水强度与总降水量的空间相似程度以及各等级降水对夏季总降水的贡献。结果表明:新疆降水主要集中在夏季,并以小雨为主。以天山山脉为界,南北两疆降水空间分布存在明显差异,北疆夏季降水量(日)占年降水量(日)的36%~45%(36%~39%),南疆夏季降水量(日)占年降水量(日)的51%~63%(48%~60%);新疆夏季不同等级降水量、降水日及降水强度的空间分布不均匀。新疆夏季总降水量与各等级降水量的空间相似系数最为密切,与各等级降水强度的空间相似系数相对较小;新疆夏季小雨贡献率最大,中雨其次,大雨最小,夏季降水量和降水日的变化主要受小雨的影响。  相似文献

The Ms 8.0 Wenchuan earthquake of May 12, 2008 is one of the most disastrous earthquakes in China. The earthquake triggered tens of thousands of landslides over a broad area, including shallow, disrupted landslides, rock falls, deep-seated landslides, and rock avalanches, some of which buried large sections of some towns and dammed the rivers. The purpose of this study is to investigate correlations between the occurrence of landslides with geologic and geomorphologic conditions, and seismic parameters. Over 56,000 earthquake-triggered landslides, with a total area of 811 km2, are interpreted using aerial photographs and remote sensing images taken following the earthquake. The spatial distribution of these landslides is analyzed statistically using both landslide-point density (LPD), defined as the number of landslides per square kilometer, and landslide-area density (LAD), the percentage of the area affected by landslides, to determine how the occurrence of landslides correlates with distance from the epicenter, distance from the major surface rupture, seismic intensity and peak ground acceleration (PGA), slope angle, slope aspect, elevation, and lithology. It is found that both LAD and LPD have strong positive correlations with slope steepness, distance from the major surface rupture and seismic intensity, and that Pre-Sinian schist, and Cambrian sandstone and siltstone intercalated with slate have the most concentrated landslide activities, followed by the Permian limestone intercalated with shale, and Devonian limestone. Statistical analyses also indicate that the major surface rupture has influence on the spatial distribution of landslides, because LAD and LPD are relatively higher on the hanging wall than on the footwall. However, the correlation between the occurrence of landslides with distance from the epicenter of the earthquake is complicated, rather than a relatively simple negative correlation as found from other reported cases of earthquakes. This is possibly due to complicated rupture processes of the earthquake.  相似文献

According to a classical definition the size of a market area results from the spatial range of the demanded and/or supplied goods and services. Distance-sales-relations or price-sales-relations produce overlapping and interconnecting sales cones with fuzzy limits in space. Thus the problem consists in identifying boundaries or edges of boundaries which result from the intensity of (spatial) spending power flows or spatial consumer shopping behaviour defining a system of functional regions. They can be estimated empirically by surveys or by mathematical models. In the former case the customer flows or spending power flows themselves are empirically recorded, in the latter they are determined from structure data of the supply and demand locations taking the distance barrier into consideration. The methods and their variants are described, their strengths and weaknesses discussed and possible areas of application presented. Several socioeconomic, demographic, spatial, and temporal variables will be introduced to explore their explanatory power and interrelationship with the migrants' intentions. These variables are: Years lived in Riyadh, the current place of parents' residency, land ownership in the village, home ownership in the urban area, income, household size, and the area of origin. The multifractal model can be applied to spatial point processes. It provides new, approximately power-law type, expressions for their second-order intensity and K (r) functions. The box-counting and cluster dimensions are different but mutually interrelated according to multifractal theory. This approach is used to describe the underlying spatial structure of gold mineral occurrences in the Iskut River area, northwestern British Columbia. The box-counting and cluster dimensions for the example are estimated to be 1.335±0.077 and 1.219±0.037, respectively. The relatively strong clustering of the gold deposits is reflected by the fact that both values are considerably less than the corresponding Euclidean dimension (=2).  相似文献

In this paper, use is made of the multiple regression technique in an attempt to provide explanation for the pattern of adoption of intensive poultry farming technique — an agency and infrastructure based innovation. This paper deals with two aspects of the diffusion. The first examines the factors of spatial pattern of adoption and the second, the adoption intensity. The paper then turns to consider the planning implications of these factors. In Oyo State, market factor expressed as the population size of towns, distance to agency location and from previous adopters largely account for the spatial variation in the time of adoption of ‘modern’ poultry farming technique. The intensity of adoption (poultry population) on the other hand is influenced by the number of adopters, distance to infrastructure, profitability considerations, literacy factor and the time of adoption.  相似文献

以32个大型金属矿床为例,探讨其与莫霍面形态,空间关系及其相关的问题,应用的莫霍面图可靠程度较高,莫霍面形态复杂,地幔坳陷分坳陷带和坳陷区两大类,大小不一,统计显示,大型矿床平均分布于规模较大的幔坳中心两侧22km范围内,其原因可能有三:一是界面金属原子的能量比内部要大得多,它的活动性增强,有利于成矿作用的进行,二是边缘成矿效应,三是坳陷两侧往往被超壳断裂切穿,成为矿液上升的通道和赋矿场所,提出云县-勐海、兰坪东支杆-三山及宾川小龙潭三个预测区,认为思茅以东 江以北及昆明-石屏等幔坳带两侧,均是寻找大型矿床的有利区带。  相似文献

The earthquake (Ms= 5.3) of 20 March 1992 and its aftershocks, which occurred near the volcanic island complex of Milos, South Aegean, Greece, are studied on the basis of filed observations and instrumental data. The mainshock caused some building damage, the maximum intensity of VI+ (MM) being assigned to Triovasalos, Milos. Ground cracks, liquefaction in soil, landslides and rockfalls were observed in Milos. Liquefaction took place at an apparently anomalously long epicentral distance (D= 12 km) and is associated with unusually small earthquake magnitude. Abnormal animal behaviour was reported no longer than twelve hours before the mainshock. The b-value (= 1.02) of the G–R relation for the aftershock sequence, the exponentially decreasing number of aftershocks with time, and the difference (= 0.5) in magnitude between the mainshock and its largest aftershock imply that the origin of these earthquakes is tectonic and not associated with the volcanic field of Milos.  相似文献

Stochastic process theory involves integrals of measurable functions over probability measure spaces. One of these is the ensemble space, Ω, whose members are sample functions on Euclidean spaceR k and the other isR k itself. What geostatisticians call the “theory of regionalized variables” is said to based on stochastic theory. A recent paper inMathematical Geology proclaims a distinction between “probabilistic” and “deterministic” geostatistics. The former is said to rely on “ensemble integrals” over Ω and the latter on “spatial integrals” overR k. This study shows that the proposed distinction rests on an arbitrary choice between two estimators for the covariance of a stochastic process; neither is an ensemble integral, both are spatial integrals, and both are Kolmogorov inconsistent. The “deterministic” estimator is identical with that of classical bivariate least-squares regression in which “spatial structure” is of no consequence. This study shows that both stochastic models are suboptimal approximations to the unique nonstationary classical statistical multivariate regression model generated by each sample pattern. The stochastic process model and its “spatial continuity measures,” thus, appear as questionable mathematical embellishments on suboptimal estimates, correspondence with geomorphic reality is tenuous, and estimates are biased and distorted. Various related misconceptions in the paper are also discussed.  相似文献

对不同矿区,不同变质程度煤的9个镜煤样品进行了激光拉曼光谱测定,并对其特征光谱进行了参数化。在1000-2000cm^-1的波数范围内有两个明显的拉曼频率振动峰G峰和D峰。当镜质体反射率R0<2.28%时,D峰位置随R0的增大向低波数位置偏移。G峰与D峰峰位差和峰高比随R0的增大而增加。当R0约为2.1%时,拉曼光谱特征趋势发生逆转性变化。在2500-3250cm^-1之间有一个明显的拉曼谱带,并随煤变质程度的增加呈现如下规律,其谱带的变化与有机质的成熟度演化具有一珲的同步性,特别是在有机质进入成熟门限后,由于油相和气相成分的大量生成,出现明显的振动峰,而进入无烟煤(R0>4.4%)后,其振动峰变弱,因此,煤的激光拉曼光谱特征可作为油气盆地判断有机质成熟度的一个指标。  相似文献

The dynamic of consolidation of urban areas in Latin America has allowed that almost 80% of the population concentrates in cities; this has produced changes in land covers and modified regional climate, propitiating the appearance of urban heat islands. The Metropolitan Area of Toluca, State of Mexico, Mexico, holds the fifth national place in population size and experiences this process, because of this, the objective is to analyze and compare the spatiotemporal characteristics of the atmospheric urban heat island obtained from data gathered from 12 urban and rural weather stations with the surface urban heat island obtained from the digital processing of four Landsat 8 images. Results show the year-round presence of night-time atmospheric urban heat islands, which reach a peak in autumn (up to 6 °C). Daytime atmospheric urban heat islands occur in summer and autumn with a maximum intensity of 4 °C. For their part, surface urban heat islands occur in spring, summer and autumn and reach maximums of 19 °C in intensity. A strong correlation was found between wetness and surface temperature (coefficient of determination, 0.8) in spring and winter. Soil wetness directly impacts the formation of weak urban heat islands in dry season, and intense ones in wet season, while the green areas and the winds affect the spatial distribution of the same.  相似文献

In those parts of their discipline which can be categorised as spatial analysis, geographers have focused attention on distance as a key variable, and have paid little attention to bounded spaces and territoriality strategies. In a rapidly restructuring world, in which distance is becoming increasingly irrelevant as an influence on many forms of behaviour, territoriality remains an important aspect of the manipulation of space for economic, social, political and cultural purposes: in the terminology of Hagerstrands classic model, while the coupling and capability constraints on interaction are weakening, the authority constraint remains strong.  相似文献

As mountain landscapes have become more accessible, an increasing number of recreationists have become sources of concern as well as optimism for the future of mountain people and their habitat. In this section the theories of accessibility, highland-lowland interaction, and population migration in mountains are used to illustrate the linkages between the supply of recreation landscape and the attractions, demands and impacts of recreation in mountain environments and on their inhabitants. In the highland-lowland interaction system, the nature and degree of impact is directly related to the types and numbers of tourists, amounts of time they spend in mountain environments, and the intensity of the contact. These factors are related to the degree of accessibility of a particular area. Increased accessibility results in more recreationists as well as increased communication with the outside world. As a result of these external influences, changes inevitably take place among residents. Examples of such changes are drawn from many of the world's mountain areas. Planning for eco-tourism and soft recreation and balancing economic development and environmental concerns requires reversal of past exploitative practices and attitudes, and greater sensitivity toward mountain inhabitants' self-determined goals.  相似文献

The model of stellar origin of the anomalous component in the low energy cosmic rays for He to Fe ions observed in space vehicles is studied in the light of recent results. The model of heliospheric origin by Fisket al which has several attractive features cannot explain the long-term variations of intensity observed during 1974 to 1978 as pointed out by Nagashima and Morishita. The stellar origin model of Durgaprasad and Biswas, on the other hand, can easily account for the sudden appearance of the anomalous component in 1972 and its large decrease in intensity in 1978 on the basis of polarity reversal of the solar magnetic field as discussed by Nagashima and Morishita (1980). In this work, we show that in the stellar model energetic ions of He, C, N, O, etc. could originate in O-type stars which manifest very strong stellar wind with mass loss rate of 3·10?6 M per year. These have terminal velocities of about 1200 to 4000 km/sec and are typically a few times their escape velocity. These velocities correspond to ion energies of 10 to 100 keV/amu. These ions are in partly ionised state and are accelerated in the interstellar shock fronts to about 1 to 50 MeV/amu and thus account for the observed anomalous component of low energy cosmic rays.  相似文献

We have measured in-situ Raman spectra of aluminosilicate glasses and liquids with albite (NaAlSi3 O8) and anorthite (CaAl2Si2O8) compositions at high temperatures, through their glass transition range up to 1700 and 2000 K, respectively. For these experiments, we have used a wire-loop heating device coupled with micro-Raman spectroscopy, in order to achieve effective spatial filtering of the extraneous thermal radiation. A major concern in this work is the development of methodology for reliably extracting the first and second order contributions to the Raman scattering spectra of aluminosilicate glasses and liquids from the high temperature experimental data, and analyzing these in terms of vibrational (anharmonic) and configurational changes. The changes in the first order Raman spectra with temperature are subtle. The principal low frequency band remains nearly constant with increasing temperature, indicating little change in the T-O-T angle, and that the angle bending vibration is quite harmonic. This is in contrast to vitreous SiO2, studied previously. Above Tg, intensity changes in the 560–590 cm?1 regions of both sets of spectra indicate configurational changes in the supercooled liquids, associated with formation of additional Al-O-Al linkages, or 3-membered (Al, Si)-containing rings. Additional intensity at 800 cm?1 reflects also some rearrangement of the Si-O-Al network.  相似文献

典型岩溶峰丛洼地坡面土壤水分空间变异性   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2  
采用网格法测量典型坡面上旱季(12月)和雨季(5月)的表层(0~5 cm)土壤含水量,以地统计学方法分析其空间变异性,结果表明:(1)与单一土地利用坡面相比,人为扰动强、土地利用多样的岩溶峰丛坡地表层土壤含水量表现为坡上未被扰动的自然植被区明显高于坡下人为改造的区域;旱季时坡地林地表层土壤平均含水量(32.8%)明显高于位于坡下的梯田空闲地(24.2%)、梯田橘园(20.0%)、梯田菜园(22.0%)、坡地裸地(23.5%);雨季时,坡地裸地(30.2%)和梯田橘园(32.1%)有明显增大,梯田空闲地(17.8%)剧烈减小,坡地林地(32.2%)土壤含水量依然最高;(2)旱、雨季整个坡面上空间结构比分别为21.0%、8.7%,表现为雨季的空间相关性更好;旱、雨季表层土壤含水量变异系数分别为20.1%和31.7%,属中等程度变异;雨季表层土壤含水量的变程(77.5 m)显著高于旱季(8.0 m),雨季的土壤含水量具有较好的空间变异结构;(3)裸岩周围空间的土壤含水量随与裸岩的距离增大而减小,梯田石坎周围空间的土壤含水量随与梯田石坎的距离增大而递减。   相似文献
