Data on biochemical ecosystem monitoring of Kiziltashskie Limans are given. The limans are the only natural water bodies in the Russian Black Sea where pascual breeding of very valuable commercial fish is implemented. The presented concentrations of dissolved and particulate organic matter are 2–5 times greater than the values typical of the coastal zone of the Black Sea (from 7.9 to 27.7 mg/L and from 0.3 to 1.5 mg/L, respectively). The main biochemical component of the dissolved organic matter is carbohydrates, and that of particulate matter is protein. The share of particulate organic matter in the Kiziltashskie Limans never exceeds 7%. The elemental (C, N, P) and biochemical composition of organic matter is studied (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids). The rates of enzymatic reactions vary from season to season. Thus, processes of hydrolytic splitting of phosphor-organic compounds during primary production are very intensive in the spring, while processes of organic matter oxidation, catalyzed by enzymes of electron-transport system, are intensive in the summer.  相似文献

The spatial-temporal variations in the amount and biochemical composition of organic matter and the rates of its transformations in the ecosystems of the Russian part of the Sea of Azov are analyzed. Maximum OM concentrations are typical for Taganrog Bay. A characteristic feature of the Sea of Azov is a large proportion of particulate organic matter, which in summer in Taganrog Bay exceeded 35%. It is shown that not only the concentration of organic matter changes from season to season, but also its elementary (Corg, Norg, and Porg) and biochemical composition (proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids). The major biochemical compound of dissolved organic matter is shown to be carbohydrates (13–28%), and that of particulate matter is protein (44–51%). The hydrolytic (phosphatase and protease) and oxidation-reduction enzymes of electron-transport system demonstrate a high activity in summer. The estimated short turnover times of phosphates and protein suggest the rapid and complete utilization of organic matter in the Sea of Azov.  相似文献

It is shown that the awareness of the regularities and causes of variations in the Caspian Sea level from the moment of its origin as an isolated lake basin in the Late Miocene (7.2 mln years ago) is of great importance for paleohydrology. Out of the seven principal hydrologic stages of the Caspian Sea history, four stages are considered in this paper: two lake stages (the Late Miocene and Middle Pliocene), the intermediate stage when the Caspian and Zanklinian basins were connected, and the stage of the Manych runoff. An important fact in the Caspian Sea history is emphasized: penetration of the Akchagylian fauna forebears into the Caspian Sea Basin through the Black Sea and the nowadays nonexistent Kuban–Terek Channel (between 5.3 and 3.3 mln years ago). Three phases of penetration of the Mediterranean Zanklinian fauna into the Caspian Basin are recognized. The channel became closed during the Middle Pliocene phase of the Great Caucasian Range elevation (3.3–2.5 mln years ago). This isolation of the Caspian Basin caused the formation of the Great Akchagylian Lake. Its water washed out the New Manych Channel 2.5 mln years ago. From this moment on, the events that occurred in the Caspian Basin and in the Black and Mediterranean seas can be correlated in greater detail, link by link, within the 413-thousand-year period of water abundance.  相似文献

Normal annual data are used to evaluate the within-year variations in the concentrations of biogenic substances (organic and mineral components of N and P, dissolved organic carbon, inorganic Si) in the major tributaries of the Caspian Sea. Variations in the concentrations of biogenic substances are analyzed, the relationships between their mass concentrations in individual months are evaluated, and correlation between the organic and mineral components of N and P and their aggregated fractions are established. The obtained high-significance correlation between the concentrations of N and P components suggests that the rates of biochemical processes of biogenic substance transformation taking place in the water of tributaries are commensurable.  相似文献

Increasing eutrophication in the coastal seas of China from 1970 to 2050   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
We analyzed the potential for eutrophication in major seas around China: the Bohai Gulf, Yellow Sea and South China Sea. We model the riverine inputs of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and silica (Si) to coastal seas from 1970 to 2050. Between 1970 and 2000 dissolved N and P inputs to the three seas increased by a factor of 2–5. In contrast, inputs of particulate N and P and dissolved Si, decreased due to damming of rivers. Between 2000 and 2050, the total N and P inputs increase further by 30–200%. Sewage is the dominant source of dissolved N and P in the Bohai Gulf, while agriculture is the primary source in the other seas. In the future, the ratios of Si to N and P decrease, which increases the risk of harmful algal blooms. Sewage treatment may reduce this risk in the Bohai Gulf, and agricultural management in the other seas.  相似文献

Elision and infiltration groundwater of the Northern Caspian basin are described. It is shown that a zone of elision brines with a high formation pressure exists under the Caspian Sea. These brines are shown to penetrate from below the Caspian Sea into the underground beds, carry fluids, and facilitate the formation of hydrocarbon fields.  相似文献

The concentration of dissolved and particulate organic matter (OM) in Lakes Kuril'skoe and Azabach'e is shown to depend on the rate of its production by phytoplankton (and by macrophytes in Lake Azabach'e) and on the amount of allochthonous OM delivered by rivers. The rate of OM transformation in the production–destruction cycle and the regeneration of phosphates were evaluated based on the activities of redox enzymes of the electron-transport system and the hydrolytic enzymes of alkaline phosphatase and protease. The intense assimilation of allochthonous OM in lake ecosystems was found to take place due to active hydrolytic disintegration of the arriving OM.  相似文献

The Caspian Sea is characterized in the geographic and ecological aspects, and the state of its ecosystem is estimated. The natural and anthropogenic processes that control the formation of the environmental conditions in the Caspian Sea and the distribution of principal commercial hydrobionts and their food items are analyzed. Data on modern tendencies in changes in the abiotic and biotic parameters of the ecosystem, their causes and mechanisms are summarized. Water column distributions of226Ra were determined at stations in the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea as part of the 1988 Joint U.S.—Turkish Black Sea Expedition. Black Sea surface water226Ra concentrations were a factor of three to four lower than measurements made 20 years earlier. The most likely cause is increased removal of226Ra and Ba [35] due to increased surface biological activity; a secondary effect is decreased fluvial discharge and related dimunition of inputs by desorption from fluvial suspended sediments. The amount of226Ra missing from the surface waters of the Black Sea over this period is accounted for in the high-porosity surficial “fluff” sediment layer.

Throughout the Black Sea, depth profiles of226Ra exhibited pronounced maxima of approximately 25 dpm/100 L at aboutσθ = 16.2–16.3, in the vicinity of a bacterial maximum, but slightly shallower than the total dissolved Mn and Fe maxima (σθ = 16.4–16.5) reported by Lewis and Landing [38]. While the226Ra maximum may, in part, be linked to the cycling of Mn and Fe oxyhydroxides near theO2H2S interface, its distribution appears to be more plausibly explained as a result of the microbial breakdown of particulate organic matter and the subsequent release and partial dissolution of associated barite in this region.

A simple steady-state two-☐ model has been used to obtain a semiquantitative understanding of the behavior of226Ra in the Black Sea. By incorporating reasonable estimates for the input and removal of226Ra in the Black Sea, an excellent agreement between predicted and observed (1988)226Ra concentrations was achieved. The model suggests that the dominant variables controlling the distribution of226Ra in the Black Sea are riverine input and cycling with Ba.  相似文献

Overlying bottom water samples were collected in the Vistula River plume, southern Baltic Sea, (Poland) and analysed for dissolved and labile particulate (1 M HCl extractable) Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Fe and Ni, hydrological parameters being measured simultaneously. Particulate organic matter (POM), chlorophyll a and dissolved oxygen are key factors governing the chemical behaviour of the measured metal fractions. For the dissolved Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe and Ni two maxima, in the shallow and in the deeper part of the river plume, were found. In the shallow zone desorption from seaward fluxing metal-rich riverine particles account for markedly increased metal concentrations, as confirmed also by high particulate metal contents. For Pb, atmospheric inputs were also considered to have contributed to the elevated concentrations of dissolved Pb adjacent to the river mouth. In the deep zone desorption from detrital and/or resuspended particles by aerobic decomposition of organic material may be the main mechanism responsible for enrichment of particle-reactive metals (Cu, Pb, Zn) in the overyling bottom waters. The increased concentrations of dissolved Fe may have been due to reductive dissolution of Fe oxyhydroxides within the deep sediments by which dissolved Ni was released to the water. The distribution of Mn was related to dissolved oxygen concentrations, indicating that Mn is released to the water column under oxygen reduced conditions. However, Mn transfer to the dissolved phase from anoxic sediments in deeper part of the Vistula plume was hardly evidenced suggesting that benthic flux of Mn occurs under more severe reductive regime than is consistent with mobilization of Fe. Behaviour of Mn in a shallower part has been presumably affected by release from porewaters and by oxidization into less soluble species resulting in seasonal removal of this metal (e.g. in April) from the dissolved phase. The particulate fractions represented from about 6% (Ni) and 33% (Mn, Zn, Cu) to 80% (Fe) and 89% (Pb) of the total (labile particulate plus dissolved) concentrations. The affinity of the metals for particulate matter decreased in the following order: Pb > Fe > Zn > or = > Cu > Mn > Ni. Significant relationships between particulate Pb-Zn-Cu reflected the affinity of these metals for organic matter, and the significant relationship between Ni-Fe reflected the adsorption of Ni onto Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides. A comparison of metal concentrations with data from other similar areas revealed that the river plume is somewhat contaminated with Cu, Pb and Zn which is in agreement with previous findings on anthropogenic origin of these metals in the Polish zone of southern Baltic Sea.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the degree of PCB contamination of Venice lagoon water. The PCB determination was made on the filtrate ("dissolved PCBs") and on the particulate collected on the filters ("particulate PCBs") by continuous liquid-liquid extraction and sonication, respectively, and by HRGC-LRMS analysis. An estimation of the procedural and "working" blanks was also made. Water samples were collected at six sites, selected to represent all the pollution situations present in the lagoon, and at a site in the Adriatic Sea. The range of the total sum ("dissolved plus particulate") of 49 congener concentrations falls between 355 and 1868 pgl(-1); the "dissolved" fraction concentrations (250-792 pgl(-1)) are greater at six sites than that of the "particulate" fraction (105-1273 pgl(-1)). Chemometric analyses suggest that the PCB congener pattern in the Venice Lagoon is different from that in the Adriatic Sea.  相似文献

The Yellow River (YR) supplies a large amount of nutrients and fresh water to the northern Chinese marginal seas, and greatly influences the ecosystem and current patterns. The relocation of the YR outlet from the southern Yellow Sea (YS) to the Bohai Sea in 1855 was demonstrated using northern East China Sea (ECS) sediment characteristics. Both isotopic (δ13C, δ15N) signals and C/N ratios in the organic matter (OM) indicate that prior to 1750, the predominant source of OM to the sediments was terrestrial. The terrestrial influences continuously weakened until 1855, when the YR estuary moved; after 1855, the OM was characterized by oceanic sources. Major elements (Al, Ti, Fe, Mn) and trace elements (Ni, Cr, Cu, Pb) had a much closer association with Malan loess prior to 1855, as >90% of the YR sediment was loess-derived. These results reveal that the relocation of the YR induced significant changes in the current patterns of the northern China Seas in the last 250 years; however, more studies are needed to further examine these linkages.  相似文献

Hydrochemical data collected in field studies in the near-mouth area and delta of the Don R. (Aksay T.—the mouths of Don delta branches) in 2006–2015 are analyzed. The seasonal dynamics is demonstrated, and the average annual concentrations were evaluated for mineral, total dissolved, and total forms of nitrogen, phosphorus, silica; dissolved and particulate organic carbon; and total suspended solids in river water. The export of dissolved and particulate organic carbon and nutrients by the Don River into the Sea of Azov in the low-water period of 2007–2015 is evaluated. Retrospective analysis of nutrient export into the Sea of Azov with river runoff in the XX–early XXI century is given.  相似文献

Surface transects and vertical profiles of total and leachable particulate Fe, Mn, Al and P, along with dissolved and soluble Fe were obtained during August 2003 in the southeastern Bering Sea. High concentrations of leachable particulate Fe were observed in the bottom waters over the Bering Sea shelf with an unusually high percentage of the suspended particulate Fe being leachable. Leachable particulate Fe averaged 81% of total particulate Fe, and existed at elevated concentrations that averaged 23 times greater than dissolved Fe in the isolated cool pool waters over the mid shelf where substantial influence of sedimentary denitrification was apparent. The elevated leachable particulate Fe is suggested to be a result of sedimentary Fe reduction in surficial sediments, diffusion of Fe(II) from the sediments to the bottom waters, and subsequent oxidation and precipitation of reduced Fe in the overlying bottom waters. Eddies and meanders of the Bering Slope Current can mix this Fe-rich water into the Green Belt at the outer shelf-break front. Elevated levels of leachable particulate Fe were observed in surface waters near the Pribilof Islands where enhanced vertical mixing exists. Storm events and/or cooling during fall/winter with the resultant destruction of the thermally stratified two-layer system can also mix the subsurface water into surface waters where the elevated leachable particulate Fe is a substantial source of biologically available Fe.  相似文献

The issue of the geoenvironmental state of Black Sea basin, the final basin receiving the runoff of many large rivers of the European continent (Danube, Dnieper, Don, etc.) and considerable runoff from the nearby watersheds, including Turkish, is considered. The extent and geoenvironmental consequences of the large-scale changes in the hydrology, water balance, and hydrochemistry of the sea basin under the effect hydrotechnical interception and industrial pollution of river runoff are discussed. The genetic role of Black Sea rifting in one of the world’s largest oil-and-gas-bearing basins with its inherent thermal and geochemical processes, geoenvironmental conditions, and risks is emphasized. Improved information is given about the genesis of hydrogen sulfide dissolved in seawater and related to the processes of geochemical sulfate reduction of silt water sulfates under the effect of hydrocarbon gases, which mostly form in zones of deep catagenesis of sedimentary formations and lower crust rock metamorphism. It is emphasized that the ecological stability of a sea basin showing such complex and contradictory relationships with natural and technogenic objects and processes can be ensured only by joint and well coordinated efforts of the countries of the Black Sea and nearby regions aimed on rational nature and water management, including when laying pipelines on Black Sea bed and developing the power resources of the Black Sea oil-and-gas-bearing basin.  相似文献
