The distribution and characteristics of Subtropical Mode Water (STMW) south of Honshu, the main island of Japan, were investigated using CTD, XBT, and dissolved oxygen data taken by the research vessels in the spring of 1988 and 1989. A comparatively low inventory of STMW was shown in spring 1988 during the large-meander period of the Kuroshio south of Honshu, while in spring 1989 during the non-large-meander period, the observation showed a considerable inventory of STMW which had outcropped east of 140°E in the preceding winter. These observations, together with published temperature maps, surface current charts, time series of vertical temperature profiles along 140°E, and wintertime Monsoon Index consistently support the climatology of the STMW circulation recently presented by the authors. That is, the change of the Kuroshio Countercurrent associated with the large meander of the Kuroshio most likely cuts off the westward/southwestward advection of STMW from its formation area east of 140°E.  相似文献

Distribution of the sea surface temperature (SST) across the Kuroshio has been measured in the Tokara Strait by the Kagoshima Prefectural Experimental Fishery Station, using a thermometer installed on boardEmerald-Amami, a ferry that operates regularly between Kagoshima and Naha. The data from 1 October 1978 to 30 September 1981 were analyzed in this paper.A sharp temperature front is usually formed at the northern edge of the current zone of the Kuroshio, and its position is very variable and moves north and south between Satamisaki and Nakanoshima. The northward migration of the front can easily be traced, but the southward migration is obscure in many cases. Some of the southward migrations seem to be understood as arising from the alternate appearance of two different fronts, namely a weakening of the northern front and a strengthening of the southern front, which are associated with the double structure of the Kuroshio front. The temperature contrast across the Kuroshio front is very weak in August through October, and the phase of its seasonal variation lags a few months behind that of temperature itself. Transitions between the states with and without temperature contrast occur suddenly, though the transition times differ year by year. Periodical fluctuations with a period of several tens of days are often observed in the migration region of the Kuroshio front. The fluctuations sometimes look very periodical within limited time periods, but the fluctuations are very changeable in nature from year to year.The results show that continuous observation of the SST distribution across the Tokara Strait yields a good tool for monitoring fluctuations of the Kuroshio path and the occurrence of the Ohsumi Branch Current, at least in the season when a large horizontal temperature contrast exists.  相似文献

东海陆架区的温、盐度逆转现象,有关研究已作了一些论述(苏育嵩等,1989;蓝淑芳等,1984; Nakao,1977),指出东海陆架区存在两个温、盐度逆转结构出现频率高的海区:一个位于江苏、浙江近海的狭长海区内;另一个位于东海北部济州岛西南海区,即东海北部底层冷水及其附近海域(蓝淑芳等,1993)。翁学传(1984)、曹欣中等(1982)利用常规调查资料,曾分别对第一高频区的中层冷水和温度逆转现象作了初步分析;丁宗信(1994,1995)利用常规调査资料和CTD资料,对黄海、东海春、夏、秋、冬四季温、盐度垂直分布类型及逆转现象的成因进行了研究。本文根据中国科学院海洋研究所1984年和1985年6月在东海北部陆架区进行的大面水文调査资料(该资料由“科学一号”调査船使用Mark-Ⅲ CTD 探测仪获取),以及国家海洋局1975-1980年在东海取得的标准断面BT观测资料,对东海北部陆架区,特别是上述第二高频区的温、盐度逆转现象和成因作进一步研究。 由于该海区的温、盐度逆转现象与水团的配置及交汇密切相关,所以首先讨论该海区的水团。  相似文献

采用东海黑湖主流段长时间序列的实测温盐资料,研究了东海黑潮上层温度、上层盐度的变化及其与中国东部降水和地面气温的关系。结果表明,在过去50年内,东海黑潮上层海温呈上升趋势,而上层盐度略呈下降趋势。东海黑潮上层海温和我国东部地面气温的关系在冬季十分密切,呈现出大面积显著的正相关,这与冬季南下冷空气的整体降温作用有关。夏季,长江中下游江水的增多致使大量长江冲淡水入海,导致黑潮上层水盐度下降,此时东海黑潮上层盐度与我国大陆东部降水呈负相关。  相似文献

本文综合分析四个断面16个标准层的因子点聚,表明在整个海区有九个水团,即:黑潮表层水、黑潮次表层水、黑潮中层水、黑潮深层水、大陆沿岸水、台湾暖流水、黄海水、对马暖流水和东海混合水,前6个水团是该海区的主要水团。本文还详细讨论了每个水团的分布特征。  相似文献

本文利用2002年7月22日至8月2日对粤东外海进行的水文观测资料,分析了调查海区的水温、盐度和跃层的分布状况,并对粤东沿岸的上升冷水、海洋锋等海洋现象进行了探讨.结果表明,整个粤东沿岸都存在着下层冷水的涌升现象,该现象在大亚湾外海附近和广东总来外海附近尤为明显,从而导致粤东沿岸水等温线非常密集,产生上升流锋.上升流锋随着深度的增加有向外海扩展的趋势.此外,在台湾浅潍的南部,陆架的坡析处和东沙群岛的东例以及西南部海战似乎也有下层冷水涌升的迹象.东沙群岛的北侧和西部海战有暖水中心存在,该暖水中心可能是离岸的表层水离异一定距离后发生下沉所致.珠江口的东例出现高温低盐水,其低盐水舌向东伸展,可达大亚湾口外海,等盐度线非常密集,是一个非常强的冲淡水羽状锋。  相似文献

To determine recent interannual variations in the planktonic ecosystem of the slope water south of Japan, an area between 1000 m isobath on the continental slope and assumable Kuroshio front, in reference to preceding reports on the Kuroshio, we examined interannual variations of physical factors, sea surface chlorophyll concentration (SSChl), size-fractioned copepod biomass and the abundance of Calanus sinicus, one of the dominant copepods in the region, in February from 1990 to 2002. In the slope water, SSChl concentration had generally shown a higher value than in the Kuroshio and increase of the SSChl in both areas started in February but lasted longer in the slope water. The regional distribution of copepod biomass and C. sinicus abundance was similar to that of phytoplankton in that they were distributed more densely in the slope water than in the Kuroshio, reflecting assumed higher nutrient supply. The interannual variation in sea surface temperature in the slope water was explained by the rise of air temperature in 1998, a strong El Niño year, and subsequent change in the Kuroshio path (1999–2001). The interannual variation of the planktonic community, i.e. sea surface chlorophyll concentration and copepod biomass, was attributed to the effects of those physical events through the direct effect of local temperature and/or variation in surface irradiance, except for a prominent increase of copepods in the slope water in 2000. The effect of interannual change in the vertical mixing, suggested in previous studies, was not apparent in February, when the primary production is not limited by nutrient concentration which would be more important in regulating biological production in later months.  相似文献

The possible origin and cause of the less saline shelf water detected in the Kuroshio subsurface layer around the shelf edge of the East China Sea are investigated using observational results obtained in May 1998–2001 in conjunction with a dataset archived by Japan Oceanographic Data Center and a numerical model. The observations show that subsurface intrusions of less saline water are always detected in May in layers above 24.5σθ isopycnal surface, and that salinity inversions (i.e., areas in which the less saline water lies beneath the saline water) are detected around the trough of the Kuroshio frontal eddy (or wave). Analyses of the archived dataset reveal that the isopycnal surface of 24.5σθ is the deepest layer of the Kuroshio pycnocline outcropping to the sea surface on the shallow shelf in early spring. Outcropping isopycnals above 24.5σθ encounter a less saline water plume originating from the Changjiang, especially in the western East China Sea. Thereafter, the less saline water moves along isopycnal layers and reaches the Kuroshio front around the shelf edge. Numerical models demonstrate that, when the frontal wave captures the less saline water, the shelf water takes the form of a salinity inversion in the trough because isohalines in the frontal wave have a phase lag between the upper and lower layers in consequence of the baroclinic instability.  相似文献

利用我国第6~9次北极科学考察期间获取的大气探空资料,分析了北极季节冰区边界层逆温的时空变化特征及其成因。分析发现:(1)边界层逆温具有较强的年际变化和空间变化,高纬度密集冰区观测到更多的强逆温现象,逆温厚度与逆温层温差呈显著的对数关系;(2)不同年份边界层逆温的主要成因有所差别:海冰分布的差异导致不同年份的边界层逆温特征不同;表面融化、辐射冷却、多层云的结构和暖平流对不同冰情年份边界层逆温的贡献程度不同;(3)开阔水域和冰区边界层逆温的成因不同。表面融化和空气平流对冰区边界层逆温的形成起着非常重要的作用,而辐射冷却是开阔水域边界层逆温的主要成因之一。  相似文献

通过对多种调查资料的综合分析,提出了东海黑潮主段子环流系统的物理模型,它是由较稳定的东海黑潮主段、经常出现(大概率)的右侧逆流和有条件出现(小概率)的外陆架逆流所构成的一个双环环流结构。部分黑潮水由主段北部进入陆架区形成外陆架逆流,或转向黑潮以东海域形成右侧逆流;由主段南部进入黑潮的陆架水,一部分来自外陆架逆流闭合了双环结构的外陆架部分;黑潮右侧逆流水大部分形成反气旋流动重新进入主流,闭合了双环结构的东部部分。  相似文献

利用南黄海西部2007-04的温盐实测资料,采用海洋层结谱表达法及自适应识别,得到逆温跃层的"五点三要素",形成强度要素平面分布图.分析表明,逆温跃层的存在与黄海暖流水有直接的关系:1)4月份,黄海暖流水受到的海面冷却仍是产生逆温跃层的普遍原因,在该海区黄海暖流向北延伸和向两侧拓展的区域都有该种类型的逆温跃层存在,位置相对较浅;2)但在偏南的黄海暖流主干区,海面冷却产生的效应被主流区的热量补充所抵消,逆温跃层很弱甚至消失,这是该月份逆温跃层分布区向北退缩并在南部中心附近呈现缺失区的主要原因;3)南下的鲁北沿岸流水的冷水叠加在黄海暖流水的暖水上方,使逆温跃层加强,使得冷暖水的作用区成为强逆温跃层区;4)黄海暖流左侧冷沿岸流水及右侧冷水的前端向黄海暖流楔入,其前端往往覆盖在底层高温高盐的黄海暖流水上方形成下逆温跃层,从而形成双逆温跃层.这些特点,较以前认知更加客观、全面、细致和准确.  相似文献

The influences of mesoscale eddies on variations of the Kuroshio path south of Japan have been investigated using time series of the Kuroshio axis location and altimeter-derived sea surface height maps for a period of seven years from 1993 to 1999, when the Kuroshio followed its non-large meander path. It was found that both the cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies may interact with the Kuroshio and trigger short-term meanders of the Kuroshio path, although not all eddies that approached or collided with the Kuroshio formed meanders. An anticyclonic eddy that revolves clockwise in a region south of Shikoku and Cape Shionomisaki with a period of about 5–6 months was found to propagate westward along about 30°N and collide with the Kuroshio in the east of Kyushu or south of Shikoku. This collision sometimes triggers meanders which propagate over the whole region south of Japan. The eddy was advected downstream, generating a meander on the downstream side to the east of Cape Shionomisaki. After the eddy passed Cape Shionomisaki, it detached from the Kuroshio and started to move westward again. Sometimes the eddy merges with other anticyclonic eddies traveling from the east. Coalescence of cyclonic eddies, which are also generated in the Kuroshio Extension region and propagate westward in the Kuroshio recirculation region south of Japan, into the Kuroshio in the east of Kyushu, also triggers meanders which mainly propagate only in a region west of Cape Shionomisaki. 为探究冬季不同背景风场下黑潮锋影响边界层云的机理,采用高分辨率卫星数据和再分析数据,研究了冬季海面背景风为垂直(西北风)和平行(东北风)东海黑潮海表面温度锋(黑潮锋)条件下,边界层云对黑潮锋的响应。结果表明:背景风垂直黑潮锋情况下,黑潮锋强迫的边界层内次级环流明显,黑潮锋暖水侧海面冷平流强,海气温差增大,海气界面潜热感热通量增大,海气界面不稳定性增大,产生上升运动,云底高度抬升。上升运动在边界层底向南北两侧辐散,在冷水侧产生下沉运动与500 hPa高压下沉叠加,使局地云量明显减少,形成晴空少云区(云洞)。在暖水侧以南的下沉支叠加云顶上的下沉运动和边界层退耦效应共同作用,产生另一个云洞。气压调整机制为次级环流产生的主要原因。背景风平行黑潮锋情况下,海面空气温度平流作用小,暖水侧海气温差较小,虽然海洋仍然加热大气,但海气界面不稳定较弱,湍流增强使云底高度抬升,垂直混合机制为该湍流增强的主要原因。  相似文献

The sea level difference between Kushimoto and Uragami, located to the west and east of the southern tip of the Kii Peninsula, is relatively large in periods of non-large meander path (nLMP) of the Kuroshio south of Japan in comparison with periods of large meander path (LMP). Based on this clear relationship, the sea level difference between Kushimoto and Uragami has been used as an index showing the periods of nLMP and those of LMP of the Kuroshio south of Japan. It has been pointed out that warm and saline Kuroshio water, separated from the main path of the Kuroshio, has a tendency to approach the western area off Kii Peninsula to off Muroto Peninsula in periods of nLMP, while it approaches the eastern area off Kii Peninsula to Omae-zaki in periods of LMP. On the basis of this observational evidences, the dynamic background underlaying the well-known relationship between the Kuroshio path and the sea level difference between Kushimoto and Uragami is examined in the present study, using the temperature and salinity data observed by Wakayama Prefectural Fisheries Experimental Station and Fisheries Research Institute of Mie. It is shown that deviations in vertically integrated specific volume off Kushimoto and Uragami almost equal deviations in observed sea level at Kushimoto and Uragami, respectively. It is also shown that the difference in vertically integrated specific volume between off Kushimoto and off Uragami almost equals the difference in observed sea level between Kushimoto and Uragami. As for the Kuroshio water, the high-temperature contribution is predominant for its specific volume rather than that of high salinity, which yields thermal expansion in comparison with coastal water. Because the difference in vertically integrated specific volume between off Kushimoto and off Uragami almost equals the difference in observed sea level between Kushimoto and Uragami, it is concluded that the relationship between the Kuroshio path and sea level difference between Kushimoto and Uragami is caused by the different approaching of the warm Kuroshio water between in nLMP periods and in LMP periods.  相似文献

利用2006-2008年3个航次水文资料,结合日本海洋数据中心(JODC)的历史温度数据分析了东北季风期台湾海峡的逆温现象。结果显示,除台湾浅滩及海峡西岸浅水区外,几乎整个台湾海峡皆有逆温现象。逆温幅度和发生频率在海峡西部较高,海峡东部及粤东近海较低。逆温层上界深度春季较秋、冬季深,逆温频发区(发生频率大于60%)随着季节南北向移动,秋季频发区的最南端位于厦门近海,冬季扩展至台湾浅滩北部,春季回退至平潭近海。分析表明,浙闽沿岸水随季节南北向伸缩导致了逆温频发区的同步移动。除了季节变化外,逆温现象在2006年和2007年冬季有显著差异,2006年逆温仅出现在海峡西部近岸海域,2007年扩展至海峡东部且向南伸至粤东近岸,浙闽沿岸水的横向伸缩是造成此差异的主因。  相似文献

数值模拟结果表明: 冬季长江口及其邻近海区温度分布为近岸低, 外海高; 近岸和海底地形变化缓慢区温度呈垂直均匀分布, 海底地形变化显著的陡坡区生成温度锋; 外海深水区的中上层温度低且呈垂直均匀分布, 底层温度高并形成弱的分层。春季, 近岸温度高、外海低; 近岸温度大致呈垂直均匀分布, 外海出现明显分层; 长江口以北温度表层低、底层高; 长江口及其以南表层和底层温度低, 而中层高; 陡坡区至外海生成温度锋, 随着温度锋自陡坡至外海的下移,锋面以上温度逐渐变为垂直均匀分布, 而锋面以下温度却大致呈水平均匀分布。夏季, 海区的温度分布和春季一样, 为近岸高、外海低; 长江口及其以南近岸浅水区温度呈垂直均匀分布; 长江口以北和长江口及其以南的外海温度自表层至底层由高变低且大致呈水平均匀分布, 并在表层至次表层生成强温跃层, 跃层强度随水深增加迅速减弱, 深底层温度几乎呈均匀分布且保持低温特征。秋季, 海区的温度分布与冬季相同, 也为近岸低, 外海高; 在长江口以北, 近岸温度为表层高, 底层低; 外海底层温度低且大致呈水平均匀分布, 而底层以上温度高且大致呈垂直均匀分布; 长江口及其以南, 近岸温度呈垂直均匀分布, 陡坡至外海的表层至底层生成弱的温度锋,随温度锋自陡坡至外海的下移, 锋面以上温度逐渐变为垂直均匀分布, 长江口以南陡坡区的底层温度几乎呈均匀分布。  相似文献
