The problem of quantitative three-dimensional interpretation of the magnetotelluric (MT) data ranks among the most difficult problems in electromagnetic (EM) geophysics. Our paper presents a new rigorous numerical method for MT inversion, based on the integral equations technique. An important feature of the proposed method is the calculation of the Frechet derivative with the aid of a quasi-analytical approximation with an inhomogeneous background. This approach simplifies the algorithm of inversion and requires only a single forward modeling on each iteration. We have also developed a method for a joint inversion of MT and magnetovariational (MV) data. We show in the present paper that the joint inversion of MT impedances and the Wiese-Parkinson vectors can automatically allow for the static shift in the observed data, which is caused by the geoelectric inhomogeneities contained in the near-surface layer.  相似文献

Topographic irregularities cause some distortions of magnetotelluric (MT) fields. In the vicinity of a topographic feature, the TM-mode distortion increases with the height and inclination of the slope. It is well-known that TM-mode ( E ) topographic effects are much greater than TE-mode ( E ı) distortions.   We have made a study of MT anomalies in TM-mode due to two-dimensional topography. In order to reduce these effects, the distortion tensor stripping technique was used. After corrections, the resulting data can be interpreted as if they were obtained over a flat surface and depend only on the subsurface structure. However, this technique sometimes causes some geometrical distortions of the real subsurface structure.   One of our aims is to overcome this failure. We have modified the correction coefficients by considering the actual one-dimensional geology. Model studies showed that our approach is especially useful in removing the terrain effects on complex 2D subsurface structures.   The other purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of a proper terrain correction for data from sites having mountainous topography over complex geology, e.g. strike-slip faults, suture zones and rift valleys. Some examples of MT data sets collected from the North Anatolian Fault Zone and from the thrust regions of the Western Taurides will be presented.  相似文献

Deep magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data were collected and processed in the western part of the East European Craton (EEC). The MT sounding results correspond well with impedances obtained by magnetovariation (MV) sounding on the new geophysical observatory situated not far from the western border of Russia. Inversion based on combined data of both induction soundings let us evaluate geoelectrical structure of the Earth’s crust and upper and mid-mantle at depths up to 2000 km, taking into account the harmonics of 11-year variations. Results obtained by different authors and methods are compared with similar investigations on the EEC such as international projects CEMES in Central Europe and BEAR in Fennoscandia.  相似文献

To enhance the spatial resolution, two types of complementary integration methods were developed using gravity and magnetotelluric (MT) data. The first method involves the enhancement processing of gravity vertical resolution using MT data. This is called a layer density correction (LDC) process which makes the density distribution more sensitive to geologic structure. The second method involves the spatial expansion processing of MT data using the enhanced gravity data. In this process, non-linear indicator transformation (NLIT) and simple kriging with varying local means (SKlm) methods were employed. The assumptions are that while the results are analyzed by different physical properties, each method senses the same underlying geologic structure and thus there is a relationship among the physical properties. The proposed geostatistical integration methods were tested using synthetic models and field data. The experiment illustrates that the integration method proposed in this study can provide improved structures. The method integrates constructively the gravity information having a wider spatial distribution and the MT information having higher vertical resolution.  相似文献

Three-dimensional (3D) magnetotelluric (MT) surveys have been performed in Jeju, the largest volcanic island in Korea to figure out any possible structures or potential anomaly for remnant deep geothermal resources. Various approaches have been applied to interpret MT data observed in Jeju. MT dataset shows generally simple stratigraphy of four layers, though contains the severe static and the sea-effects. In our previous works, the induction vectors and 3D inversion results have commonly indicated the existence of a conductive anomaly in central parts of the island, beneath Mt. Halla. The 3D inversion dealt the static shifts as inversion parameters. The Jeju MT dataset, however, still contains the effect of conductive sea water surrounding the island.The sea-effect on MT impedance can be represented as a distortion tensor and excluded from the Jeju MT dataset by an iterative sea-effect correction. In this study, 3D inversion incorporating static shift parameterization was conducted using MT dataset corrected using 1D resistivity model obtained from the iterative scheme. Reasonably reconstructed images are obtained through the 3D inversion and using the MT dataset with sea-effect correction. The inversion result still shows the conductive anomaly in a similar depth. RMS misfits converged to a lower value than that of inversion using MT data before the sea-effect correction. From the fact, it is highly possible that the conductive anomaly is not an artifact but a real underground structure. Further investigation about the anomaly including exploration drilling is needed to see if it is from a fracture containing conductive sea water or related to the old volcanic activities.  相似文献

The analysis of magnetovariation (MV) and magnetotelluric (MT) parameters is performed for the models of elongated structures whose electric conduction varies along the length. The common feature of models with a different ratio of conduction is that MV parameters substantially differ from their two-dimensional counterparts. 复杂地形、地质条件的大地电磁数据解释容易出现假象,采用三维正演技术模拟地形和地表不均匀体的背景响应,对实测数据阻抗相位不变量进行校正,实现更准确的定性分析;对三维异常体模型的合成数据进行一维、二维多参数反演试算,以确定地形剧变区选择反演技术的最佳方案.合成数据的试反演结果显示一维反演水平切片假异常较多,二维反演能压制测向假异常,但不能压制走向的假异常,水平切片多出现测向条带.使用本文提出的阻抗相位不变量校正法扣除地形、地表背景响应,结合一维、二维反演,能使实际资料解释成果更加可靠.  相似文献

本文从信号与系统的角度讨论了同步大地电磁时间序列信号之间的依赖关系,选取高信噪比的时间序列信号作为先验数据,用最小二乘法估算依赖关系;结合参考道的数据,合成本地道含噪声时段的数据,最后用合成数据替代噪声段数据,组成新数据,从而在时域中去除大地电磁噪声.西藏地区高信噪比实测数据的试算结果表明,无论电场还是磁场,信号之间的依赖关系是相对稳定的,只与先验数据的长度有关,与时间无关;虽然不同参考点之间的依赖关系不同,但都可以精确合成本地点数据,与参考点地下电性结构和参考距离无关.仿真实验显示,去噪后的信号与原始信号基本一致.实测数据处理结果表明,该方法可以有效去除强噪声干扰,抑制中高频段的近场源效应,同时保留了微弱的有效信号,保证了处理结果的正确性.最后针对方差比方法无法识别的方波噪声,提出了一种简单的平移方法,成功去除了持续时间大于窗口长度的方波噪声;将该方法与远参考技术结合,可以有效抑制近场源噪声干扰,获得光滑连续并且可信的测深资料.  相似文献

The joint use of the magnetovariational (MV) and magnetotelluric (MT) data and the a priori information about the areal distribution of the deep electrical conductivity within the studied area and the integral conductance of the sedimentary cover enabled us to conduct a three-dimensional (3D) inversion of these data and construct the 3D model of the northeastern part of Kamchatka. The results show that within the Shiveluch volcano, north and south of it, there are northwesterly striking conductive faults penetrating up to the mantle which ascends from a depth of 41 to 35 km. The electrical conductivity of these crustal structures which accommodate high seismic and volcanic activity is probably accounted for by fluid saturation.  相似文献

Improved NMO correction with a specific application to shallow-seismic data   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
The application of traditional NMO‐correction techniques in the processing of seismic data may result in severe distortion. This distortion is observed as a decrease in frequency content (NMO stretch) or even a total loss of data for steep velocity gradients. It is shown that the specific nature of the observed distortion is introduced by the particular implementation of the traditional NMO‐correction technique. It is also shown that other techniques that have been proposed in the literature suffer from similar artefacts. An alternative approach is suggested, based on the correction of tapered blocks of seismic data, followed by a coherence filter to compensate for the specific artefacts thus introduced. Correction of seismic amplitudes (e.g. geometrical spreading and attenuation) is implemented as an integral part of the NMO‐correction method thus allowing for both dynamic and kinematic reconstruction of interfering events. From the application of this method to synthetic and field data, it is concluded that the proposed technique may be particularly useful in the processing of shallow seismic (shear‐wave) data. Although not illustrated in this paper, it is emphasized that application of the proposed method is by no means restricted to shear waves; application to P‐wave data will prove equally useful, although the stretch effects involved may not be as severe as in the examples given in this paper.  相似文献

The methods and results of electromagnetic soundings (EMS) performed in the transition zone from the Moscow syneclise to the Voronezh anteclise in the vicinity of the MSU geophysical base are considered. This base is located in the village of Aleksandrovka in the Yukhnov district of Kaluga area. The composite EMS curves characterizing rock complexes composing the sedimentary cover are constructed, and changes in these complexes within the specified transition zone are traced. The standard curves of magnetotelluric (MT) and magnetovariational (MV) soundings are constructed from the results of long-term measurements at the ALX observation point located at the Moscow State University’s (MSU) geophysical base. The maps of thickness and total longitudinal conductance of the sedimentary cover are constructed from the results of interpretation of MT data obtained in the region. A conductor in the consolidated Earth’s crust is identified within the Voronezh anteclise. Prospects for further investigations of the region are associated with the tracing of the crustal conductor within the Voronezh anteclise, as well as with the organization of an observatory at the MSU’s geophysical base in order to perform long-term measurements of the electromagnetic (EM) and other geophysical fields.  相似文献

A case history is presented where electromagnetic (EM) methods were applied as a complement to seismic, for structural mapping in basin-and-range-like geology: 366 five-component magnetotelluric (MT) soundings were carried out together with 331 transient soundings (TDEM) along seismic lines. Due to high structural complexity, seismic shows a number of limitations. For the same reasons, MT is highly perturbed and three specific interpretation techniques were comprehensively applied: 1. a classical correction of static effect using TDEM sounding, to determine the high-frequency nondistorted apparent resistivities and thus the corrected tensor; 2. a so-called regional correction based upon the same concept as the static effect, to transform distorted resistivity curves due to the horst/graben situation into plausible 1D curves, through the use of nomograms built for 2D H-polarization situations; 3. a stripping technique which made it possible to map areas where a deep conductive Mesozoic shale was present below carbonates, at a depth of 3 km. After the best MT interpretation was obtained along each line, it was integrated with seismic and with the results from two boreholes. A crude empirical law relating resistivity and acoustic velocity was established and the MT horizons were plotted on the two-way traveltime seismic sections. The final integrated cross-sections obtained are undoubtedly of greater use to the explorationist than the initial seismic sections alone and two wells were accurately predicted.  相似文献

—Adaptive filters offer advantages over Wiener filters for time-varying processes. They are used for deconvolution of seismic data which exhibit non-stationary behavior, and seldom for noise reduction. Different algorithms for adaptive filtering exist. The least-mean-squares (LMS) algorithm, because of its simplicity, has been widely applied to data from different fields that fall outside geophysics. The application of the LMS algorithm to improve the signal-to-noise ratio in deep reflection seismic pre-stack data is studied in this paper. Synthetic data models and field data from the DEKORP project are used to this end.¶Three adaptive filter techniques, one-trace technique, two-trace technique and time-slice technique, are examined closely to establish the merits and demerits of each technique. The one-trace technique does not improve the signal-to-noise ratio in deep reflection seismic data where signal and noise cover the same frequency range. With the two-trace technique, the strongest noise reduction is achieved for small noise on the data. The filter efficiency decreases rapidly with increasing noise. Furthermore, the filter performance is poor upon application to common-midpoint (CMP) gathers with no normal-moveout (NMO) corrections. Application of the two-trace method to seismic traces before dynamic correction results in gaps in the signal along the reflection hyperbolas. The time-slice technique, introduced in this paper, offers the best answer. In this case, the one-trace technique is applied to the NMO-corrected gathers across all traces in each gather at each time to separate the low-wavenumber component of the signal in offset direction from the high-wavenumber noise component. The stacking velocities used for the dynamic correction do not need to be known very accurately because in deep reflection seismics, residual moveouts are small and have only a minor influence on the results of the adaptive time-slice technique. Noise reduction is more significant with the time-slice technique than with the two-trace technique. The superiority of the adaptive time-slice technique is demonstrated with the DEKORP data.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of 2D inversion of deep magnetotelluric (MT) and magnetovariational (MV) soundings along the Naryn Line. The method of partial (sequential) inversions is used. According to this method, at the first stage, magnetovariation responses are used for the localization of deep anomalies of electrical conductivity, and then the magnetotelluric sounding data are invoked to refine the structure of the host medium and the structural details in the upper part of the section. It is shown that this approach enables one to estimate the informativeness of separate components of the electromagnetic field, to reduce the distorting influence of the near-surface geoelectric inhomogeneities, and to increase the stability of the final solution of the inverse problem.  相似文献

针对南黄海盆地深层地震地质条件差,地震波受屏蔽,能量严重衰减,在海洋反射地震资料中很难识别反映中-古生界的反射地震波组,不能满足南黄海盆地前第三系油气资源前景评价的需要等问题,于2006年5月,开展了南黄海海域海底大地电磁测深试验,在盆地内五莲斜坡和胶州凹陷区布设了3个海底大地电磁测深点,取得了可靠的海底观测数据.本文详细阐述了海底大地电磁测深与常规大地电磁测深在数据处理方法上的差别,论述了海洋电磁噪声对海底大地电磁场观测的影响,提出了海底大地电磁场实测资料“水平姿态”校正、“方位”校正和“海洋电磁噪声”校正的方法.通过对试验观测资料的处理和反演,并结合地质、物性资料进行综合分析,结果表明在南黄海盆地海底以下深部还存留有古生代地层,这对于南黄海前第三系含油气前景的评价具有重要意义.试验结果也证明了海底大地电磁测深技术在研究古生代残留盆地方面的问题可以发挥相当好的作用.  相似文献

Mapping deep geological hydrocarbon targets is of significant importance in basin exploration. In areas lacking reliable seismic data, magnetotelluric (MT) and gravity explorations are helpful to delineate the distribution of potential deep geological hydrocarbon targets. Here we investigate the effectiveness of the integrated 3D MT and gravity explorations for mapping the potential deep hydrocarbon source rocks. The result based on the data from the W Basin (part of the Ordes Basin) of China demonstrates that the method is efficient and economical for basin exploration. The method is particularly useful in target areas which are of great interest for oil and gas exploration but lack high quality seismic data. In our method, we first use the high-precision 3D small-bin MT data acquisition to improve the data accuracy. Then we perform datum static correction method and apply 3D inversion to obtain the3D resistivity distribution. We also develop a layered resistivity model based on resistivity logging to assist the interpretation of the inverted 3D resistivity data so as to derive an initial 3D geological model. Starting from the initial model, we use 2D gravity data to update the model via 2D inversion line by line, and then pass the updated model for the next round of the 3D MT inversion. The integrated inversion is implemented iteratively so the model converges to satisfy the need of final geological analysis. The application to the W Basin shows that we could successfully delineate the geological distribution of the potential deep hydrocarbon source rocks within the basin and map the thickness of the upper Paleozoic.  相似文献

作为地震探测的有效补充,电磁法在海洋油气资源勘探中发挥着越来越重要的作用.本文针对海洋电磁法中极低时钟误差、大动态范围采集等要求,提出使用GPS和高精度原子钟解决低时钟漂移问题;采集电路中设计增益可调的放大电路,MCU通过对采集到的信号进行实时分析,实现增益动态调整,解决海洋电磁信号大动态范围采集问题;研制的海洋电磁信号数据记录单元每天时间误差小于0.3 ms、电场通道动态范围可以达到160 dB、磁场通道动态范围可以达到134 dB.通过在室内指标测试、室外试验,表明设计的数据记录单元能够稳定可靠工作.为证明数据纪录单元的有效性,将数据记录单元和国外商用MT仪器进行野外一致性对比实验,数据记录单元与商用仪器结果基本一致;在水深100 m海域进行了海底MT信号采集,得到了有效的结果.该研究为海洋电磁信号低时钟漂移、大动态范围采集提供了一种有效解决方案.  相似文献

Beyond KTB - electrical conductivity of the deep continental crust   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8  
Great strides have been made in understanding the upper part of the crust by in-situ logging in, and laboratory experiments on core recovered from super-deep bore-holes such as the KTB. These boreholes do not extend into the lower crust, and can contribute little to the elucidation of mechanisms that produce the high electrical conductivities that are commonly observed therein by magneto-telluric (MT) methods. Laboratory studies at simulated lower crustal conditions of temperature, pressure and saturation, on electrolyte saturated rocks thought to have been derived from the lower crust, have not been possible up until now due to their experimental difficulty. It is necessary to subject electrolyte-saturated rock samples to independently controlled confining and pore-fluid pressure, which implies that the rock be sleeved in some impermeable but deformable material, that can withstand the very high temperatures required. Metals are the only materials capable of being used, but these cause great difficulties for cell sealing and conductivity measurement. In this paper we describe recent breakthroughs in experimental work, specifically the development of two new types of sophisticated metal/ceramic seal, and a conductivity measurement technique that enables the measurement of saturated rock conductivity in the presence of a highly conducting metallic sleeve. The advances in experimental technique have enabled us to obtain data on the electrical conductivity of brine saturated basic, acidic and graphite-bearing rocks at lower crustal temperatures and raised pressures. These data have facilitated the comparison of MT derived crustal electrical conductivity profiles with profiles obtained from laboratory experiments for the first time. Initial modelling shows a good agreement between laboratory derived and MT derived profiles only if the mid-crust is composed of amphibolite pervaded by aqueous fluids, and the lower crust is composed of granulite that is saturated with aqueous fluids and/or contains interconnected grain surface films of graphite. The experimental data are consistent with a three layer crust consisting of an aqueous fluid saturated acidic uppermost layer, above an aqueous fluid saturated amphibolite mid-crust, and a granulite lowermost crust, which may or may not be saturated with aqueous fluids, but if not, requires the presence of an additional conduction mechanism such as conduction through thin graphite films.  相似文献
