We present the results of synchronous photometric and polarimetric U BV RI observations of the irregular variable star RZ Psc, acquired at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in 1989–2002. The star’s photometric behavior is characterized by short, sporadic Algol-like dimmings. We observed only one deep minimum, with a V amplitude of about 1.5m, during the entire observation time. During this minimum, the star’s linear polarization reached 3.5%. Comparisons with polarization observations of RZ Psc during another deep minimum in 1989 show that the two minima can be described by the same polarization-brightness relation, testifying to an eclipsing nature for the minima. This provides evidence that the optical characteristics of the flattened circumstellar dust envelope that gives rise to the star’s intrinsic polarization have remained virtually unchanged over the last 13 years. We argue that the origin of this stability is the presence of a large dust-free cavity in the central region of the circumstellar dust disk of RZ Psc. The cavity could be associated with binarity of the star or the formation of a planetary system, with most of the dust in the central region of the disk being transformed into large bodies—planetesimals and planets.  相似文献

We present the results of our simultaneous photometric and polarimetric observations of the Herbig Ae/Be star VX Cas acquired in 1987–2001. The star belongs to the UX Ori subtype of young variable stars and exhibits a rather low level of photometric activity: only six Algol-like minima with amplitudes ΔV>1m were recorded in 15 years of observations. Two of these minima, in 1998 and 2001, were the deepest in the history of the star’s photometric studies, with V amplitudes of about 2m. In each case, the dimming was accompanied by an increase in the linear polarization in agreement with the law expected for variable circumstellar extinction. The highest V polarization was about 5%. Observations of VX Cas in the deep minima revealed a turnover of the color tracks, typical of stars of this type and due to an increased contribution from radiation scattered in the circumstellar disk. We separated the observed polarization of VX Cas into interstellar (Pis) and intrinsic (Pin) components. Their position angles differ by approximately 60°, with Pis dominating in the bright state and Pin dominating during the deep minima. The competition of these two polarization components leads to changes in both the degree and position angle of the polarization during the star’s brightness variations. Generally speaking, in terms of the behavior of the brightness, color indices, and linear polarization, VX Cas is similar to other UX Ori stars studied by us earlier. A number of episodes of photometric and polarimetric activity suggest that, in their motion along highly eccentric orbits, circumstellar gas and dust clouds can enter the close vicinity of the star (and be disrupted there).  相似文献

An analysis of the activity of the Hyades M4.5 dwarf EPIC 210490365, K2–25 (2MASS J04130560+1514520), based on observational data obtained with the Kepler Space Telescope is presented. This dwarf has a Neptune-type planet. The continuous evolution of active regions on the surface of K2–25 is traced over 70 days. The brightness changes of the star display a fairly stable nature. The rotation period of K2–25 is 1.878 ± 0.030 day. Maps of temperature inhomogeneities on the surface of K2–25 are constructed for 37 sets of observations. All these maps show concentrations of spots at two longitudes, with more active region having the larger area. The total spotted surface area S is, on average, 2.6% of the total visible surface of the star. The estimated differential rotation speed of the star is ΔΩ = 0.0071 ± 0.002 rad/day. The positions of K2–25 in S–age, S–rotation period, and S–Rossby number diagrams are consistent with the general trends of these dependences established earlier for M dwarfs. The derived Rossby number for K2–25, Ro = 0.36, is used to estimate the star’s X-ray luminosity to be log(R X) = ?4.20.  相似文献

We present the results of simultaneous UBVRI photometric and polarimetric observations of the Ae Herbig star SV Cep made in 1987–1998. Over these 11 years, only a single deep (ΔV>1m) brightness minimum was observed. Near this minimum, the brightness decrease was accompanied by an increase of the linear polarization, as is typical of young UX Ori stars. The photometric observations of SV Cep indicate reversals of the color tracks in brightness minima, as is common for stars of this type, as well as variations of the slopes of the color tracks during and after minima. This provides evidence that the circumstellar dust clouds screening the star differ in their sizes and masses, and also in the optical properties of their dust particles. A Fourier analysis of the brightness variations of SV Cep (including data from the literature) confirms the presence of previously suspected activity cycles with periods P 1=4000d and P 2=670d The polarimetric observations indicate that, along with the inverse correlation between the degree of linear polarization and brightness, the polarization parameters vary on characteristic time scales of 4000 and 1000 days. This suggests the existence of large-scale inhomogeneities in the circumstellar dust disk rotating about the star.  相似文献

We present new spectroscopic observations of the peculiar supergiant IRC+10420. In 1997–2000, we obtained three high signal-to-noise ratio spectra of the object at 4300–8000 Å with a spectral resolution of 15 000 (20 km/ s) using the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory. From our 2000 spectrum, we estimate the spectral type of IRC+10420 to be A2, corresponding to a temperature of ~9200 K. Many emission lines were detected, identified with lines of Fe I; Fe II, Ti II, Cr II, and Sc II ions; and [O I], [Fe II], and [Ca II] forbidden lines. The radial velocity derived from absorption lines without obvious emission components (He I λ5876, O I, N I, Si II) and from absorption components of the Balmer lines is 93±1 km/s. The redshift of photospheric lines relative to the star’s center-of-mass velocity is interpreted as a consequence of scattering in the expanding, optically thick dust envelope. Both emission and absorption lines show a correlation between radial velocity and oscillator strength. We found variability in the relative intensities of the H α and H β emission components. We conclude that IRC+10420 is rapidly evolving towards a Wolf-Rayet stage; the current rate of the photospheric temperature increase is ~120 K per year. Based on the intensity of the O I (λ7773) triplet, we estimate the star’s luminosity to be M bol=?9.5m. In all 1997–2000 spectra of IRC+10420, the He I λ5876 line has a significant equivalent width of at least 200 mÅ; this may be possible in the presence of such a low temperature due to the star’s high luminosity and the enhanced helium abundance in the supergiant’s atmosphere.  相似文献

The results of an analysis of observations of the cool (M8) dwarf TRAPPIST-1 obtained on the Kepler Space Telescope (the K2 continuation mission) are presented. TRAPPIST-1 possesses a planetary system containing at least seven planets. In all, the observations consist of 105 584 individual brightness measurements made over a total duration of 79 days. Brightness power spectra computed for TRAPPIST-1 exhibit a peak corresponding to P0 = 3.296 ± 0.007 d . There are also two peaks with lower significances at P1 = 2.908 d and P2 = 2.869 d , which cannot be explained by the presence of differential rotation. The observational material available for TRAPPIST-1 is subdivided into 21 datasets, each covering one stellar rotation period. Each of the individual light curves was used to construct a map of the star’s temperature inhomogeneities. On average, the total spotted area of TRAPPIST-1 was S = 5% of the entire visible area. The difference between the angular rotation rates at the equator and at the pole is estimated to be ΔΩ = 0.006. The new results obtained together with data from the literature are used to investigate the properties of this unique star and compare them to the properties of other cool dwarfs. Special attention is paid to the star’s evolutionary status (its age). All age estimates for TRAPPIST-1 based on its activity characteristics (rotation, spot coverage, UV and X-ray flux, etc.) indicate that the star is young.  相似文献

Estimates of relative line intensities available in the literature and integrated Hβ fluxes of the planetary nebula NGC 6572 during the time covered by optical observations (1938–2013) are compared to search for possible variations. Line intensities measured from observations obtained at the Crimean Station of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute in 2013 are presented, as well as previously unpublished photographic spectroscopic data obtained 1972–2005. Our analysis of all the available data shows that the line intensities do not vary within the observational uncertainties, with the possible exception of the [OIII] 4959 and 5007 Å lines, which show a tendency for their intensity increase with time. This can be interpreted as a manifestation of a temperature increase of the central star, or radial stratification of the [OIII] emission in the nebula, with the latter explanation being less probable. However, stratification is clearly visible in the [OII] and [NII] line intensities. The integrated Hβ flux is most probably constant at F(Hβ) = (1.50 ± 0.03) × 10?10 erg cm?2 s?1. A refined estimate of the interstellar extinction toward NGC 6572 has been obtained from radio and optical data, c(Hβ) = 0.42 ± 0.03. The MAST spectroscopy data were used to derive the central star’s UBV magnitudes in 2004. Integrated photoelectric UBV observations of the nebula and central star for 1971–2005 are presented.  相似文献

Our high-resolution spectral observations have revealed variability of the optical spectrum of the cool star identified with the IR source IRAS 20508+2011. We measured the equivalent widths of numerous absorption lines of neutral atoms and ions at wavelengths 4300–7930 Å, along with the corresponding radial velocities. Over the four years of our observations, the radial velocity derived from photospheric absorption lines varied in the interval V r⊙ = 15–30 km/s. In the same period, the Hα profile varied from being an intense bell-shaped emission line with a small amount of core absorption to displaying two-peaked emission with a central absorption feature below the continuum level. At all but one epoch, the positions of the metallic photospheric lines were systematically shifted relative to the Hα emission: ΔV r = V r(met) ? V r(Hα, emis) ≈ ?23 km/s. The Na D doublet displayed a complex profile with broad (half-width ≈ 120 km/s) emission and photospheric absorption, as well as an interstellar component. We used model atmospheres to determine the physical parameters and chemical composition of the star’s atmosphere: T eff = 4800 K, log g = 1.5, ξt = 4.0 km/s. The metallicity of the star differs little from the solar value: [Fe/H] = ?0.36. We detected overabundances of oxygen [O/Fe] = +1.79 (with the ratio [C/O] ≈ ?0.9), and α-process elements, as well as a deficit of heavy metals. The entire set of the star’s parameters suggests that the optical component of IRAS 20508+2011 is an “O-rich” AGB star with luminosity M v ≈ ?3m that is close to its evolutionary transition to the post-AGB stage.  相似文献

We present the results of long-term (1978–1998) infrared and optical observations of the unique symbiotic system CH Cygni. The system’s IR brightness and color variations are generally consistent with a model in which the source is surrounded by a dust envelope with variable optical depth. There was evidence for a hot source in the CH Cyg system during the entire period from 1978 to 1998, with the exception of several hundred days in 1987–1989. Over the observation period, there was tendency for the system to gradually redden at 0.36–5 µm, accompanied by a brightness decrease at 0.36–2.2µm and a brightness increase at 3.5 and 5 µm. The “activation” of the cool sources in 1986–1989 nearly coincided with the disappearance of radiation from the hot source. The dust envelope of CH Cyg is not spherically symmetrical, and its optical depth along the line of sight is substantially lower than its emission coefficient, the mean values being τex(L)~0.06 and τem(L)~0.16. We confirm the presence of a 1800-to 2000-day period in both the optical and IR, both accounting for, and not accounting for, a linear trend. The spectral type of the cool star varied between M5III and M7III. The spectral type was M5III during the phase of maximum activity of the system’s hot source, while the spectral type was M7III when the star’s optical radiation was almost completely absent. The luminosity of the cool giant varied from (6300–9100)L ; its radius varied by approximately 30%. The ratio of the luminosities of the dust envelope and the cool giant varied from 0.08 to 0.5; i.e., up to 50% of the cool star’s radiation could be absorbed in the envelope. The temperature of dust particles in the emitting envelope varied from 550 to 750 K; the radius of the envelope varied by more than a factor of 2. The expansion of the emitting dust envelope observed in 1979–1988 accelerated: its initial velocity (in 1979) was ~8 km/s, while the maximum velocity (in 1987–1989) was ~180 km/s. Beginning in 1988, the radiation radius of the dust envelope began to decrease, first at ~45 km/s and then (in 1996–1998) at ~3 km/s. From 1979 until 1996, the mass of the emitting dust envelope increased by approximately a factor of 27 (the masses in 1979 and 1988 were ~1.4×10?7 M and ~3.8×10?6 M , respectively), after which (by 1999) it decreased by nearly a factor of 7. The mass-loss rate of the cool star increased in 1979–1989, reaching ~3.5×10?6 ~3.5×10?6 M /yr in 1988. Subsequently (up to the summer of 1999), the envelope itself began to lose mass at a rate exceeding that of the cool star. The largest input of matter to the envelope occurred after the phase of optical activity in 1978–1985. If the envelope’s gas-to-dust ratio is ~100, the mass of matter ejected in 1988 was ~4×10?4 M .  相似文献

We present spectrophotometric (3400–7500 Å) observations of the evolution of a strong outburst of the classical symbiotic star YY Her in 1993 and photoelectric UBV observations of the star’s eclipse in 1997. The duration of the phase of lowest brightness, when the U brightness had decreased by ~1.3m, was ~0.17 P orb (P orb is the orbital period). If this phase is due to the total eclipse of ~70% of the radiation of the circumstellar envelope, this duration implies that the cool component of YY Her fills its Roche lobe, the bulk of the envelope’s volume emission measure is concentrated around the hot component in a region with rather sharp boundaries r R giant (R giant is the giant’s radius), and the line of sight is close to the binary orbital plane. We model fit the spectral energy distribution of YY Her to obtain estimates of the parameters of several structural components of the system. The red giant’s spectral type correlates with its visual brightness and does not correlate with the hot component’s brightness. At minimum brightness, the hot component’s luminosity fluctuates about that of its cool companion (L h, bol /L c, bol ≈0.9), and its temperature is T h ≈(9–11)×104 K. Activity of the hot component of YY Her is accompanied by increased brightness and reduced temperature (L h, bol T h ?5 ), though the relation between these parameters is not unique. At maximum brightness, L h, bol /L c, bol ≈10 and T h ≈6.0×104 K. If the red giant fills its Roche lobe, the hot component’s luminosity is ~3.3 × 104 L . The active period of YY Her lasted about 5 years, and the activity decrease was not monotonic.  相似文献

We have developed an axisymmetric model for the dust envelope of the carbon star RW LMi with a density distribution typical for the superwind stage using JHKLM photometric data obtained in 1997–2003, supplemented by flux data at optical, mid-IR, and far-IR wavelengths. In contrast to earlier spherically-symmetric models, the model is able to reproduce the observed fluxes in all observed wavelength ranges, and provides a good agreement with the observational data. The estimated mass-loss rate is \(\dot M = 1.2 \times 10^{ - 5} M_ \odot /yr\). The computed brightness distribution of the envelope in the near-IR is in satisfactory agreement with high-resolution observations, while the optical size is considerably larger than is observed.  相似文献

We present observations of the UX Ori star RR Tau in the optical (UBVRI)and near infrared (JHKLM)acquired between November 2000 and April 2001. We recorded a uniquely long (about half a year) Algol-like minimum with an amplitude of ΔV≈2.9. The dimming of RR Tau was accompanied by an increase of the linear polarization, typical of UX Ori stars and testifying to the eclipsing nature of the minimum. The J and H infrared fluxes varied synchronously with the optical variations. However, the K and L brightness changes were in the opposite sense: the flux in these two bands increased for the entire duration of the optical minimum. Our analysis suggests that the source of the K and L radiation is the dust cloud itself, moving at a distance of about 1 AU from the star. The flux increase in these bands was not due to an increase in the dust temperature, but instead to an increase in the number of emitting grains in the cloud. This could be associated either with an actual increase in the number of fine grains due to sublimation and the disruption of larger grains or with the distortion and disruption of the cloud due to tidal perturbation, permitting the star’s light to penetrate and heat the densest regions of the cloud. Based on the observed L fluxes, we estimate the mass of the emitting dust in the cloud to be ≈1023 g. Taking into account the presence of cool dust and a gaseous component in the cloud in addition to the dust heated by the star’s radiation, and adopting a ratio for the masses of the dust and gas components similar to that in the interstellar medium (1:100), we estimate the cloud’s total mass to be ≥1025 g. Judging from this value and the duration of the minimum, we observed an extremely rare episode associated with a giant gas and dust cloud with a total mass on the order of 0.1 lunar mass or higher, which passed very near the young star (and may be falling onto it).  相似文献

The activity of the central star of the Kepler-32 planetary system is studied using continuous 1141-day observations with the Kepler Space Telescope. The Kepler-32 system includes a slowly rotating Mdwarf (rotational period of 37.8 d) with a mass of 0.54M and five planets. One of the unique properties of the system is its compactness: the orbits of all five planets are less than a third of the size of the orbit of Mercury; the planet closest to the star is separated from it by only 4.3 stellar radii. Surface-temperature inhomogeneities of the central star are studied using precise photometric observations of Kepler-32, and their evolution traced. In total, 42 624 individual brightness measurements in the 1141-day (3.1-year) observing interval were selected for the analysis. The calculated amplitude power spectra for the first and second halves of the interval of the Kepler-32 observations indicate appreciable variability of the photometric period, corresponding to the evolution of active regions at various latitudes on the stellar surface. Evidence for the existence of two active regions on the stellar surface separated in phase by 0.42 has been found. Time intervals in which the longitudes of the active regions changed (“flip-flops”) with durations of the order of 200–300 days have been established. The spotted area of the star was, on average, about 1% of the total visible surface, and varied from 0.3 to 1.7%. The results for the dwarf Kepler-32 are compared with those from a spectropolarimetric survey of 23 M dwarfs, including both fully convective stars and stars with weakly radiative cores. For a more detailed comparison, temperature inhomogeneities on the surface of one of the survey stars, DS Leo, was reconstructed using the ground-based observations (316 individual measurements of the V-band brightness of the star during seven observing seasons in an all-sky automated survey). The general properties and evolution of the active regions on DS Leo and Kepler-32 are considered. The positions of the active regions on the surface of Kepler-32 yields no evidence for differential rotation of this star. The possibility of detecting the magnetic field of Kepler-32 is proposed. The analysis of the photometric data for Kepler-32 are also compared to the previous results for the fully convective, low-mass M dwarfs GJ 1243 and LHS 6351. This demonstrates that the observed manifestations of activity on Kepler-32 correspond to those for active G-K stars and to M dwarfs with masses of the order of 0.5M , rather than Mdwarfs with masses from 0.2 to 0.5M .  相似文献

New spectroscopic observations obtained in 1998–2001 and published radial velocities of neutral helium absorption lines suggest that the Herbig Ae/Be star HD 200775 is a spectroscopic binary with a 1180±60 day period. We have determined the elements of the spectroscopic orbit. The presence of both rapid and long-time-scale spectral variability is demonstrated. The rapid variability is apparently due to a nonuniform circumstellar environment and modulation by the axial rotation of the system’s primary. Using data from the literature, we plot the V light curve of the system, which shows some brightening near the time of the minimum radial velocity, with its duration not exceeding 0.2 of the orbital cycle. We suggest that the system’s secondary is a low-mass (≥ 0.5M) protostar, and that a semitransparent extended circumstellar envelope gives rise to eclipses in the system.  相似文献

Multiple observations of the yellow hypergiant ρ Cas obtained in 2007–2011 in a wide wavelength range with spectroscopic resolving power R ≥ 60 000 have enabled studies of features of its optical spectrum in detail and brought to light previously unknown characteristics of the star’s extended atmosphere. The radial velocity measured from symmetric absorption lines of metals varies with an amplitude of about ±7 km/s around the systemic velocity V sys = ?47 km/s, due to low-amplitude pulsations of the atmospheric layers near the photosphere. At some times, a velocity gradient was observed in deep atmospheric layers of the star. A slight velocity stratification in the stellar atmosphere was detected for the first time, manifest as a difference of 3–4 km/s in the velocities measured from absorption lines of neutral metals and of ions. The long-wavelength components of split absorption lines of BaII, SrII, TiII, and other strong lines with low excitation potentials for their lower levels are distorted by nearby emission lines. It is suggested that the short-wavelength components, whose locations correspond to the narrow velocity range V r (blue) from approximately ?60 to ?70 km/s, are formed in a circumstellar envelope; one component of the D NaI doublet and the emission components of the FeII 6369.46 and 6432.68 Å ions are also formed there.  相似文献

The results of many-year photometric observations of the weak-line T Tauri star V715 Per in the optical (V RI) and infrared (JHK) photometric bands are presented. The period of the star’s lowamplitude brightness variations in the V RI bands detected earlier, 5.23d, is confirmed. This period persists during the entire 14-year time interval of the observations, but its amplitude varies with time. The same period was found in the variations of JHK infrared fluxes, with the brightness variations in the two ranges being almost synchronous. The most probable origin of these variations is periodic eclipses of the star by its own disk, perturbed by its interaction with the magnetosphere (AA Tau-type variations). In addition to the periodic brightness variations, the star also displayed sporadic Algol-like minima characteristic of UX Ori stars during several years (2005–2011). The amplitude of these variations increasedmonotonically, reaching approximately 1m in the V band by the end of 2010, after which the deep fadings ended. During this entire time interval, the amplitude of the periodic variations was observed to decrease. After 2011, the periodic component began to become stronger again. These changes of the photometric activity of V715 Per can be explained by an increasing rate of gas accretion onto the star, decreasing the radius of warped regions of the disk and leading to accompanying Algol-like fadings. This model assumes a low inclination of the circumstellar disk in V715 Per to the line of sight.  相似文献

Based on high-resolution observations (R = 60 000 and 75 000), we have studied the optical spectral variability of the star BD + 48°1220, identified with the IR source IRAS 05040+4820. We have measured the equivalent widths of numerous absorption lines of neutral atoms and ions at wavelengths from 4500 Å to 6760 Å, as well as the corresponding radial velocities. We use model atmospheres to determine the effective temperature T eff = 7900 K, surface gravity log g = 0.0, microturbulence velocity ξ t = 6.0, and the abundances for 16 elements. The star’s metallicity differs little from the solar value: [Fe/H] = ?0.10 dex. The main peculiarity of the chemical composition of the star is a large helium excess, derived from the Hel λ 5876 Å absorption, [He/H] = +1.04, and the equally large oxygen excess, [O/Fe] = +0.72 dex. The carbon excess is small, [C/Fe] = +0.09 dex, and the ratio [C/O] < 1. We obtained an altered relation for the light-metal abundances: [Na/Fe] = +0.87 dex with [Mg/Fe] = ?0.31 dex. The barium abundance is low, [Ba/Fe] = ?0.84 dex. It is concluded that the selective separation of elements onto dust grains of the envelope is probably efficient. The radial velocity of the star measured from photospheric absorption lines over three years of observations varies in the interval V = ?(7–15) km/s. Time-variable differential line shifts have been revealed. The entire set of available data (the luminosity M v ≈ ?5 m , velocity V lsr ≈ ?20 km/s, metallicity [Fe/H] = ?0.10, and peculiarities of the optical spectrum and chemical composition) confirms the status of BD + 48°1220 as a post-AGB star with He and O excesses belonging to the Galactic disk.  相似文献

The results of photometric observations of the dwarf nova GY Cnc in the Rc filter acquired in 2013–2015 (~3900 orbital cycles, 19 nights in total) are presented, including observations during its outburst in April 2014. The binary’s orbital elements have been refined. The orbital period has changed only insignificantly during the ~30 000Porb since the earlier observations; no systematic O–C variations were detected, only fluctuations within 0.004d on time scales of 1500–2000Porb. A “combined” model is used to solve for the parameters of GY Cnc during two states of the system. The flux from the white dwarf is negligible due to the star’s small size. The temperature of the donor star, T2 ~ 3667 K (Sp M0.2 V), varies between 3440 and 3900 K (Sp K8.8–M1.7 V). The semi-major axis of the disk is a ~ 0.22a0, on average. In quiescence, a varies within ~40%. The disk has a considerable eccentricity (e ~ 0.2?0.3) for a < 0.2a0. The disk shape becomes more circular (e < 0.1) with increasing a. The outburst of GY Cnc was associated with increased luminosity of the disk due to the parameter αg (related to the viscosity of the disk material) decreasing to 0.1–0.2 and the temperature in the inner parts of the disk increasing twofold, to Tin ~ 95 000 K. These changes were apparently due to the infall of matter onto the surface of the white dwarf as the outburst developed. All parameters of the accretion disk in quiescence display considerable variations about their mean values.  相似文献

We have carried out photometry and spectroscopy of the star V1327 Aql (R = 16 m ) as part of our program of observations of poorly studied cataclysmic variables using the 1.5-m optical Russian—Turkish telescope (RTT-150, Turkey) and the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. After analyzing our photometry, we have re-classified the variable as an RR Lyrae star. Our BV R photometry during 10 nights reveals brightness variations with the period 12h49m, with the B, V, and R amplitudes being 1.36 m , 1.13 m , and 1.11 m , respectively. We derived the first estimates of the star’s atmospheric parameters from our moderate-resolution spectra: T eff = 6280 K, log g = 3.3, [M/H] = ?1.05. The extremely high radial velocity of the star’s motion (V R = ?470 km/s) and the star’s large distances to the Galactic center (13.1 kpc) and disk (4.2 kpc) testify to a probable extragalactic origin of this object.  相似文献

A statistical survey of 113 spotted red dwarf stars that are known or suspected BY Draconis variables is presented. Typical indicators of stellar photometric activity—the amplitudes of the rotational modulation and seasonal mean brightness variations ΔV and Δ〈V〉—are compared to the global parameters of the stars. First, photometric variability shows a weak dependence on spectral type; second, ΔV and Δ〈V〉 grow with increasing stellar rotational velocity and decreasing Rossby number, with the dependences saturating at the critical values V crit~15–20 km/s and Rocrit~0.2–0.3; and third, the Sun as a star fits well into the derived relations. Thus, the spottedness of stars, like other indicators of stellar activity, depends on their global parameters.  相似文献
