This paper examines the effect of a constant κ of a particular integral of the Gylden-Meshcherskii problem on the stability of the triangular points in the restricted three-body problem under the influence of small perturbations in the Coriolis and centrifugal forces, together with the effects of radiation pressure of the bigger primary, when the masses of the primaries vary in accordance with the unified Meshcherskii law. The triangular points of the autonomized system are found to be conditionally stable due to κ. We observed further that the stabilizing or destabilizing tendency of the Coriolis and centrifugal forces is controlled by κ, while the destabilizing effects of the radiation pressure remain unchanged but can be made strong or weak due to κ. The condition that the region of stability is increasing, decreasing or does not exist depend on this constant. The motion around the triangular points L 4,5 varying with time is studied using the Lyapunov Characteristic Numbers, and are found to be generally unstable.  相似文献

The existence and stability of a test particle around the equilibrium points in the restricted three-body problem is generalized to include the effect of variations in oblateness of the first primary, small perturbations ϵ and ϵ′ given in the Coriolis and centrifugal forces α and β respectively, and radiation pressure of the second primary; in the case when the primaries vary their masses with time in accordance with the combined Meshcherskii law. For the autonomized system, we use a numerical evidence to compute the positions of the collinear points L 2κ , which exist for 0<κ<∞, where κ is a constant of a particular integral of the Gylden-Meshcherskii problem; oblateness of the first primary; radiation pressure of the second primary; the mass parameter ν and small perturbation in the centrifugal force. Real out of plane equilibrium points exist only for κ>1, provided the abscissae x < \fracn(k-1)b\xi<\frac{\nu(\kappa-1)}{\beta}. In the case of the triangular points, it is seen that these points exist for ϵ′<κ<∞ and are affected by the oblateness term, radiation pressure and the mass parameter. The linear stability of these equilibrium points is examined. It is seen that the collinear points L 2κ are stable for very small κ and the involved parameters, while the out of plane equilibrium points are unstable. The conditional stability of the triangular points depends on all the system parameters. Further, it is seen in the case of the triangular points, that the stabilizing or destabilizing behavior of the oblateness coefficient is controlled by κ, while those of the small perturbations depends on κ and whether these perturbations are positive or negative. However, the destabilizing behavior of the radiation pressure remains unaltered but grows weak or strong with increase or decrease in κ. This study reveals that oblateness coefficient can exhibit a stabilizing tendency in a certain range of κ, as against the findings of the RTBP with constant masses. Interestingly, in the region of stable motion, these parameters are void for k = \frac43\kappa=\frac{4}{3}. The decrease, increase or non existence in the region of stability of the triangular points depends on κ, oblateness of the first primary, small perturbations and the radiation pressure of the second body, as it is seen that the increasing region of stability becomes decreasing, while the decreasing region becomes increasing due to the inclusion of oblateness of the first primary.  相似文献

Observations of neutral hydrogen in spiral galaxies reveal a sharp cutoff in the radial density profile at some distance from the center. Using 22 galaxies with known HI distributions as an example, we discuss the question of whether this effect can be associated exclusively with external ionizing radiation, as is commonly assumed. We show that before the surface density reaches δ HI ≤ 0.5 M pc−2 (the same for galaxies of different types), it is hard to expect the gas to be fully ionized by background radiation. For two of 13 galaxies with a sharp drop in the HI profile, the “steepening” can actually be caused by ionization. At the same time, for the remaining galaxies, the observed cutoff in the radial HI profile is closer to the center than if it was a consequence of ionization by background radiation and, therefore, it should be caused by other factors.  相似文献

Recent measurements of thermal radiation from neutron stars have suggested a rather broad range of radiation radii ( ). Sources in M13 and Omega Cen imply R ∼12–14 km, but X7 in 47 Tuc implies R ∼16–20 km and RX J1856-3754 R >17 km. If these measurements are all correct, only a limited selection of EOS’s could be consistent with them, but a broad range of neutron star masses (up to 2 M) would also be necessary. The surviving equations of state are incompatible with significant softening above nuclear saturation densities, such as would occur with Boson condensates, a low-density quark-hadron transition, or hyperons. Other potential constraints, such as from QPO’s, radio pulsar mass and moment of inertia measurements, and neutron star cooling, are compared. US DOE Grant DE-FG02-87ER-40317.  相似文献

Details of the discovery (in February 2004) and results of subsequent (in 2004–2009) INTEGRAL observations of the transient X-ray burster IGR J17380-3749 (IGR J17379-3747) are presented. Over the period of its observations, the INTEGRAL observatory recorded two hard X-ray flares and one type I X-ray burst from the source, which allowed the nature of IGR J17380-3749 to be determined. The burster radiation spectrum during the flares was hard—a power law with a photon index α = 1.8–2.0 or bremsstrahlung corresponding to a plasma with a temperature kT = 90–140 keV. The spectral shape at the flare peaks turned out to be the same, despite a more than twofold difference in flux (the peak flux recorded in the energy range 18–100 keV reached ∼20 mCrab). The upper limit on the flux from the source in its quiescent (off) state in the range of 18–40 keV was 0.15 mCrab (3σ).  相似文献

Slow magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) standing wave oscillations in hot coronal loops for both strong (i.e. τd/P∼ 1) and weak (i.e. τd/P≥ 2) damping are investigated taking account of viscosity, thermal conductivity and optically thin radiation. The individual effect of the dissipative terms is not sufficient to explain the observed damping. However, the combined effect of these dissipative terms is sufficient to explain the observed strong damping, as well as weak damping seen by SUMER. We find that, the ratio of decay time (τd) and period (P) of wave, i.e., τd/P (which defines the modes of damping, whether it is strong or weak) is density dependent. By varying density from 108 to 1010 cm−3 at a fixed temperature in the temperature range 6 – 10 MK, observed by SUMER, we get two sets of damping: one for which τ d/P∼ 1 corresponds to strong damping that occurs at lower density and another that occurs at higher density for which τd/P ≥ 2 corresponds to weak damping. Contrary to strong-damped oscillations, the effect of optically thin radiation provides some additional dissipation apart from thermal conductivity and viscosity in weak-damped oscillations. We have, therefore, derived a resultant dispersion relation including the effect of optically thin radiation. Solutions of this dispersion relation illustrate how damping time varies with physical parameters of loops in both strong and weak damping cases.  相似文献

We study numerically the restricted five-body problem when some or all the primary bodies are sources of radiation. The allowed regions of motion as determined by the zero-velocity surface and corresponding equipotential curves, as well as the positions of the equilibrium points are given. We found that the number of the collinear equilibrium points of the problem depends on the mass parameter β and the radiation factors q i , i=0,…,3. The stability of the equilibrium points are also studied. Critical masses associated with the number of the equilibrium points and their stability are given. The network of the families of simple symmetric periodic orbits, vertical critical periodic solutions and the corresponding bifurcation three-dimensional families when the mass parameter β and the radiation factors q i vary are illustrated. Series, with respect to the mass (and to the radiation) parameter, of critical periodic orbits are calculated.  相似文献

In this paper, we have studied periodic orbits generated by Lagrangian solutions of the restricted three body problem when more massive body is a source of radiation and the smaller primary is an oblate body. We have determined periodic orbits for fixed values of μ, σ and different values of p and h (μ mass ratio of the two primaries, σ oblate parameter, p radiation parameter and h energy constant). These orbits have been determined by giving displacements along the tangent and normal to the mobile co-ordinates as defined by Karimov and Sokolsky (in Celest. Mech. 46:335, 1989). These orbits have been drawn by using the predictor-corrector method. We have also studied the effect of radiation pressure on the periodic orbits by taking some fixed values of μ and σ.  相似文献

Using nonequilibrium calculations of the ionic states and the recently calculated extragalactic ultraviolet background radiation with absorption by intergalactic HeII we determine the ratios of CIII to CIV expected at z∼2–3, as functions of metallicity, gas density and temperature. We constrain the spectrum of the extragalactic ultraviolet background radiation by fitting the observed abundance ratios carbon ions at these redshifts with those expected from different models of the background radiation. Our analysis of the observed ratios shows that ‘delayed reionization’ models, which assume a large fraction of HeII at z∼3, is not favored by data. Our results suggest that HeII reionization was inhomogeneous, consistent with the predictions from recent simulations.  相似文献

This paper presents general relations for the intensity of the resonant transition radiation (RTR) and their detailed analysis. This analysis shows that the spectrum amplitude of the x-mode at some frequencies for high-energy electrons can grow with the magnetic field increase in some interval from zero value; it can even dominate over that for the o-mode. With further magnetic field increase, the intensity of the RTR x-mode decreases in comparison with the intensity of the o-mode and this decrease is higher for higher velocities of energetic electrons. The polarization of the RTR depends on the velocity of energetic electrons, too. For velocities lower than some velocity limit v<v i the RTR emission is unpolarized in a broad interval of magnetic field intensities in the radio source. For reasonable values of indices of the power-law distribution functions of energetic electrons, the RTR is broadband in frequencies (df/f≈0.2−0.4). Furthermore, we show various dependencies of the RTR and its spectral characteristics. Assuming the same radio flux of the transition radiation and the gyro-synchrotron one at the Razin frequency, we estimate the limit magnetic field in the radio source of the transition radiation. Then, we analyze possible sources of small-scale inhomogeneities (thermal density fluctuations, Langmuir and ion-sound waves), which are necessary for the transition radiation. Although the small-scale inhomogeneities connected with the Langmuir waves lead to the plasma radiation, which is essentially stronger than RTR, the inhomogeneities of the ion-sound waves are suitable for the RTR without any other radiation. We present the relations describing the RTR for anisotropic distribution functions of fast electrons. We consider the distribution functions of fast electrons in the form of the Legendre polynomials which depend on the pitch-angle. We analyze the influence of the degree of the anisotropy (an increase of the number of terms in the Legendre polynomial) on spectral characteristics of the RTR. A comparison with previous studies is made. As an example of the use of the derived formulas for the RTR, the 24 December 1991 event is studied. It is shown that the observed decimetric burst can be generated by the RTR in the plasma with the density inhomogeneities at the level 〈ΔN 2〉/N 2=2.5⋅10−5.  相似文献

Various relations are found between the key parameters of black holes and active galactic nuclei. Some have a statistical property, others follow from the theoretical consideration of the evolution of these objects. In this paper we use a recently discovered empirical relation between the characteristic frequency of quasi-periodic oscillations of radiation ν br of black holes, their masses and matter accretion rates to determine the magnetic field strength B H at the black hole event horizon. Since the characteristic frequency can be determined from observations, the use of a new relation for the estimations of magnetic field B H can yield more definite results, since we are decreasing the number of the unknown or poorly-determined parameters of objects (it especially concerns the accretion rate ). The typical values which we have found are B H ≃ 108G for the stellar mass black holes, and B H ≃ 104G for the supermassive black holes. Besides, we demonstrate that if the linear polarization of an object is caused by the radiation of a magnetized accretion disk, then the degree of observable polarization is pν br −1/2.  相似文献

The CORONAS-PHOTON Russian satellite intended to study the Sun was successfully launched into orbit on January 30, 2009. Scientific equipment of the satellite includes the PHOKA radiometer of soft X-ray and extreme UV radiation. The PHOKA instrument is intended to measure the absolute flux of solar electromagnetic radiation in the spectral windows of 0.5–7 nm, 0.5–11 nm, 27–37 nm, and 116–125 nm. When leaving and entering the Earth’s shadow, the instrument aboard the spacecraft measures absorption of radiation by various layers of the Earth’s atmosphere. Before the launch, photodiodes of the instrument had been calibrated using a synchrotron radiation source. In-flight stability of sensitivity of main channels is controlled using calibration channels. The paper describes the PHOKA instrument and presents its capabilities and main characteristics, as well as some results of its operation in orbit.  相似文献

In order to choose a numerical method for solving the time dependent equations of radiative transport, we obtain an exact solution for the time dependent radiation field in a one dimensional infinite medium with monochromatic, isotropic scattering for sources with an arbitrary spatial distribution and an arbitrary time variation of their power. The Lax-Wendroff method seems to be the most suitable. Because it is assumed that radiation delay is caused by the finite speed of light, the following difficulty arises when the numerical method is used: the region of variation of the variables (position τ and time t) is triangular (the inequality τ ≤ t). This difficulty is overcome by expanding the unknown functions in series in terms of small values of the time and position. By comparing the numerical and exact solutions for a point source with a given time dependence for its power and with pure scattering, the number of steps in the variables required to obtain a desired accuracy is estimated. This numerical method can be used to calculate the intensity and polarization of the radiation from sources in the early universe during epochs close to the recombination epoch. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 51, No. 1, pp. 109–123 (February 2008).  相似文献

We have treated formation of spectral lines in a commoving frame where photoionization is predominant over collisional processes. We have assumed that the radiation field for causing photoionization is a function of Planck function. We have also considered the situation in which the continuum contributes to the radiation in the line. In all the models the quantityB/A (ratio of outer to inner radii) is kept equal to 10 and the total optical depth is taken to be 103. The velocity is assumed to be varying according to the lawdV/dτ ∼ < 1/τ whereτ is the optical depth (τ > 0) in the given shell. The velocities at the innermost radius (r =A) are set equal to 0 and at the outermost radius (r =B), the maximum velocities are taken to be 0, 1, 3 and 10 Doppler units. The calculated line profiles are those seen by an observer at infinity.P Cygni-type profiles are observed in the case of a medium with no continuum absorption. For a medium with continuum absorption double peaked asymmetric profiles are noticed when the velocities are small; the two emission peaks merge into a single asymmetric peak for larger velocities.  相似文献

Starting from the assumption that the radiation source at the origin of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) could not have a luminosity larger than the maximum energy in ordinary matter divided by the minimum time allowed by causality, one arrives at an expression that gives the energy density of CMB as a function of the main cosmological parameters. Also, by defining a radiation charge as the hypothetical charge that opposes the congregation of a cloud of particles around a source of electromagnetic radiation, on arrives at another expression for the energy density of CMB that agrees exactly with the measured value for a value of the Hubble constant equal to 72.09 km s−1 Mpc−1. Both expressions are independent of the redshift.  相似文献

Using specialized codes for the search of periodic and linear components we show that direct solar radiation leads to short-period variations of all the orbital elements of geosynchronous satellites. The variation period of the semimajor axis a, orbit inclination i and the longitude of the ascending node Ω is 1 day. Eccentricity e, the argument of perigee ω and the mean anomaly M vary with a period of 0.5 days. Direct solar radiation also leads to long-period variations in e, ω and M with a period of 1 year. The elements a, i and Ω undergo variations only in the amplitude of diurnal variations with a period of 1 or 0.5 years. Secular variability (linear components) are not detected. To obtain the initial value array of the orbital elements we used the Lagrange equations of perturbed motion in the form of a Gaussian with their subsequent integration via a special method of harmonics: the values of the derived orbital elements, obtained from the Lagrange equations, were presented through the periodic functions that are easy to integrate.  相似文献

We have theoretically studied the influence of a far-infrared radiation (FIR) field from Hπ region on the cooling by C and O atoms, C+ ion and CO molecule in a photodissociation region, and a molecular cloud associated with Hπ region (hereinafter referred as HI region) at low temperatures (T k≤200 K). Comparisons have been made for cooling with and without FIR for two extreme abundances (10−4 and 10−7) of the mentioned species for temperatures ranging between 10 and 200K and an hydrogen particle density range 10 cm−3n o≤ 107 cm3. The cooling by the species with low line-splitting (CI, Cπ and CO) is significantly influenced by the radiation field for temperaturesT k < 100 K while the effect of radiation field on cooling by OI is significant even at higher temperatures (T k > 100 K). The effect of FIR field on the cooling of CO from low rotational transitions is negligibly small, whereas it is considerable for higher transitions. In general, the cooling terms related to the short-wavelength transitions are more affected by FIR than those related to longer wavelengths. It is also demonstrated here that in the determination of thermal structure of an HI region the dust grains play an important role in the heating of gas only through photoelectron emission following irradiation by far-ultraviolet (FUV) radiation, as the infrared radiation from the dust is too small to have substantial effect on the cooling. It is found that in the Hπ /HI interface the FIR field from grains in the Hπ region is not capable of modifying the temperature of the warmest regions but does so in the inner part where the temperature is low enough.  相似文献

We have analyzed two powerful correlation harmonics ( = 3and = 6) found in the correlation of the ILC WMAP signal with the submillimeter and infrared range data from the FSC IRAS and Planck catalogs. The mode phases of thesemultipoles were computed. In the spots we have found in the harmonics, the source counts were made from the NVSS, FIRST, FSC IRAS and Planck surveys. The correlation harmonic phases are close at different observational frequencies both for = 3and = 6.We do not exclude that a part of the weak signal in the ILCWMAP data, manifested in the strong correlation properties of the investigated multipoles may be due to extragalactic radiation sources.  相似文献

We use three indicators of massive star formation, Hα, FIR and non-thermal radio luminosities, to compare estimates of the star formation rate (SFR) for a sample of 34 spiral galaxies. To adjust the SFR values obtained from these indicators, we considered the slope, α, and/or the upper mass limit M up of the initial mass function (IMF) as free parameters. The best agreement between the indicators is found for M up≈ 60-100 M⊙ and α ≈–3.1 at the high-mass end of the IMF (M>10 M⊙.Parallelwith the SFR we also estimated the FIR excess X FIR, defined as the fraction of the observed FIR not directly related to young massive stars. X FIR is found to be well correlated with types of spiral galaxies and their colours (B-V): the redder a galaxy, the higher its FIR excess. We conclude that for any parameters of the IMF the observed FIR flux of early-type spiral galaxies needs an additional source of energy apart from massive star radiation. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The discovery of the 3K microwave background radiation (MBR) and its interpretation as a relict of the hot big bang was probably the most important observation that led to the elevation of the hot big bang model to the status of a ‘Standard Model’. The temperature of this background is consistent with the primordial nucleosynthesis hypothesis. Detailed measurements of the spectrum and angular anisotropy of this radiation background have been found — within the measurement errors - to be consistent with the expectations of the Standard Model and with the formation of structure from the gravitational growth of primordial seed density perturbations within this framework.  相似文献
