Based on echelle spectra obtained at the prime focus of the 6-m telescope, we have determined for the first time the detailed chemical composition of one of the components of the bipolar nebula identified with the intense infrared source AFGL 2688 by the model-atmosphere method. The iron abundance [Fe/H]=?0.59 dex derived for AFGL 2688 suggests that the object probably belongs to an intermediate population of the Galaxy. The stellar atmosphere exhibits high carbon and nitrogen abundances, [C/Fe]=+0.73 and [N/Fe]=+2.00, and C/O>1, confirming that the object is at the post-AGB stage. However, the detected overabundance of s-process elements (yttrium and barium) relative to iron is modest: [X/Fe]=+0.55. The lanthanides are even less enhanced: for La, Ce, Pr, and Nd, the mean abundance relative to iron is [la/Fe]=+0.26. This behavior of the heavy metals is consistent with the low intensity of the 21-μm band in the infrared spectrum of AFGL 2688; the intensity of this emission band is great in the spectra of all the studied PPN with large overabundances of s-process elements. An analysis of the radial velocities measured from spectral features originating in the atmosphere and in the circumstellar shell has revealed a high-velocity (~60 km s?1) component of the stellar wind from AFGL 2688.  相似文献

We have obtained near diffraction-limited images of three bipolar PPN at UKIRT in October, 1993: AFGL 915 (the Red Rectangle), AFGL 618, and AFGL 2688 (the Egg Nebula). Images were taken at unidentified infrared (UIR) emission feature wavelengths and at several continuum wavelengths in the 10 and 20µm atmospheric windows. In all three PPN the emission is dominated by a central point source with fainter emission extending for several arcsec. In AFGL 2688, the mid-IR emission is extended in the same direction as the main optical lobes. In AFGL 915, the UIR feature emission is spatially separated from the central source. The spikes that have been observed at 2µm and give the nebula its rectangular appearance are also visible at 10µm.  相似文献

The (J, K)=(1,1) ammonia transition emission has been observed toward six regions with signs of active star formation (AFGL 5142, HH 33/40, AFGL 5157, AFGL 6366S, HHL 73, and S140N), using the 37 m antenna of the Haystack Observatory. We detected and mapped the ammonia emission in all of these sources with the exception of HH 33/40. The (J, K)-(2,2), ammonia transition was also observed at the peak position of each source in order to obtain the rotational temperature of the ammonia clumps.Paper presented at the 11th European regional Astronomical Meetings of the IAU on New Windows to the Universe, held 3–8 July, 1989, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.  相似文献

Optically bright and very cool AFGL carbon stars have been analyzed in order to find a common evolutionary sequence according to indications in this sense derived from papers which have treated only the first or the second group of stars separately.An apparent discrepancy existing between the stellar parameters has been overcome following an inverse procedure which provides these values by means of the shell parameters.The results seem to indicate that AFGL stars, whose variability nature is still unknown, should be Mira or Mira-like according to the values of their dust shell temperatures.Dust shell masses have been estimated for both samples of stars finding an inverse dependence with the effective temperature,M d T * –9.1 .This may be interpreted in terms of evolutionary sequence in the sense that the cooler the stars the larger their shell masses.  相似文献

The absorption features of ice at 3µm and of silicate at 10 and 20µm as well as the linear polarization across it have been calculated. The interpretations of data for protostellar objects BN and AFGL 2591 are made.The model of partially aligned spinning spheroidal grains with the Purcell's suprathermal alignment mechanism and the power law size distribution are considered. Core-mantle, porous and composite particles are investigated in the Rayleigh approximation. In the case of composite and porous grains the effective refractive indices are computed with the approximate Bruggeman rule.The influence of grain chemical composition, elongation and structure has been investigated. The distinctions in polarization between composite and core-mantle models are found. The mixing of grain materials smooths the individual spectral features of chemical components. The adding of graphite causes the shift of the 10µm peak position to shorter wavelengths. When the fraction of graphite increases, the peak at 20µm decreases and shifts to shorter wavelengths. The increase of elongation reduces the negative polarization at the 3µm feature, shifts the 10µm and 20µm peak positions to longer wavelengths, and raises the strength of the 20µm band. The porosity leads to similar effects.It was found that the studied grain models are in good agreement with observational data for BN and AFGL 2591 objects. The absence of polarization excess near 3µm for AFGL 2591 is attributable to a decrease in elongation of large grains as a result of coagulation. The attention is attracted to the problem of real distribution of the interstellar dust grains over the elongation parameter. The determination this distribution function and the study of its evolution in the processes of accretion and coagulation are necessary.  相似文献

A comparison between theGeneral Catalogue of Cool Carbon Stars (CCS) and theAFGL Catalogue has been performed.Eighty-five stars have been found in common between the two lists. Eighty-four stars which were present in Baumert's comparison between CCS and the 2 Sky Survey have no counterpart in the AFGL. Four new tentative identifications are given. The analysis of the two colours diagrams K-[4.2 ] vs. I-K and I-[4.2 ] vs. [4.2 ]-[11 ] led to the conclusion that all the infrared emission from the sources seems to come from a single circumstellar shell.  相似文献

A multilayer radiative transfer, high-spectral-resolution infrared model of the lower atmosphere of Mars has been constructed to assess the effect of scattering on line profiles. The model takes into account aerosol scattering and absorption and includes a line-by-line treatment of scattering and absorption by CO2 and H2O. The aerosol complex indices of refraction used were those measured on montmorillonite and basalt chosen on the basis of Mars ir data from the NASA Lear Airborne Observatory. The particle sizes and distribution were estimated using Viking data. The molecular line treatment employs the AFGL line parameters and Voigt profiles. The modling results indicate that the line profiles are only slightly affected by normal aerosol scattering and absorption, but the effect could be appreciable for heavy loading. The technique described permits a quantitative approach to assessing and correcting for the effect of aerosols on lineshapes in planetary atmospheres.  相似文献

We have conducted multi-epoch EVN observations of the 22.2 GHz water masers towards the high-mass young stellar object in AFGL 5142. With four observing epochs, spanning a time of 1 year, 12 distinct maser features have been detected and accurate values of the proper motions are derived for those persistent over three or four epochs. On the basis of their spatial distribution, the observed maser features can be divided into two groups. A model fit to the positions and velocities of the maser features of Group I, detected in the same region (within 500 mas) where the massive YSO should be located, demonstrates that these might arise on the surface of a nearly edge-on Keplerian disk, rotating around a massive young stellar object. The maser features of Group II, found at large distances from the YSO ( 1), have positions and line-of-sight velocities in agreement with the blue-shifted lobe of a large-scale molecular outflow, and might result from the interaction between the gas flowing away from the young stellar object and the ambient gas of the progenitor molecular core.  相似文献

By the mapping observations simultaneously at the 12CO (J=1-0), 13CO (J=1-0), and C18O (J=1-0) lines on the area of 24’×24’ (12 pc×12 pc) of the star forming region AFGL 5157, we have obtained the distribution and averaged physical parameters for the respective 13CO and C18O cores of this molecu- lar cloud. At the edge of the molecular cloud, the isotopic abundance ratio is X [(13CO)/(C18O)] 10, close to the ratio of a giant molecular cloud. The viral masses of the 13CO and C18O cores are less than the masses of the molecu-lar cloud cores, so the molecular cloud cores are gravitationally unstable, and the C18O molecular cloud core is more easy to collapse. The column density distributions of the C18O molecular cloud core in the northeast and southwest directions are, respectively, 1.1 × 1023× z−0.43 and 4.6 × 1025× z−0.58, where z is the distance from the center of the molecular cloud core. The high velocity molecular out?ow has been con?rmed from our 12CO spectra, the mass loss rate of the out?ow has been estimated, and the mass-velocity relation of the out?ow is ?tted by a power-law function of mv−1.8. Several substorms were observed at Explorer 45 in November and December 1971, and January and February 1972, while the satellite was in the evening quadrant near L = 5. These same substorms were identified in ground level magnetograms from auroral zone and low latitude stations. The satellite vector magnetic field records and rapid run ground magnetograms were examined for evidence of simultaneous occurrence of Pi2 magnetic pulsations. Pulsations which began abruptly were observed at the satellite during 7 of the 13 substorms studied and the pulsations occurred near the estimated time of substorm onset. These 7 pulsation events were also observed on the ground and 6 were identified in station comments as Pi2. All of the events observed were principally compressional waves, that is, pulsations in field magnitude. There were also transverse components elliptically polarized counter-clockwise looking along the field line. Periods observed ranged from 40 to 200 sec with 80 sec often the dominant period.  相似文献

In this study, heat waves at three meteorological stations in Serbia were analyzed based on the daily maximum temperature during the summer (June, July and August). The warmest summers as regards heat wave duration and severity occurred within the periods 1951–1952, 1987–1998 (especially 1994) and 2000–2007. The longest heat waves were recorded in 1952, lasting 16 days in Smederevska Palanka and 21 days in Ni?, while in 1994 in Belgrade lasting 18 days. The summer of 1994 in Belgrade and Smederevska Palanka, and 2003 in Ni? were characterized with the highest number of consecutive tropical days (21 and 29, respectively).The autoregressive-moving-average models were applied to generate long series of the daily maximum temperature, from which the relative frequencies of heat waves were estimated. The relationships between the longest heat waves, and the circulation conditions were analyzed using the subjective Hess–Brezowsky catalogue of weather types.  相似文献

The five-minute oscillations inside sunspots appear to be the absorption of the solar p-mode. It is a potential tool to probe a sunspot's sub-structure. We studied the collective properties of five-minute oscillations in the power and phase distribution at the sunspot's umbra-penumbra boundary. The azimuthal distributions of the power and phase of five-minute oscillations enclosing a sunspot's umbra were obtained with images taken with the Solar Dynamics Observatory/Atmospheric Imaging Assembly(SDO/AIA). The azimuthal modes were quantified with periodogram analysis and justified with significance tests. The azimuthal nodal structures in an approximately axially symmetric sunspot AR 11131(2010 Dec 08) were investigated. Mode numbers m = 2, 3, 4, 7, 10 were obtained in both 1700 ?A and 1600 ?A bandpasses. The 1600 ?A channel also revealed an extra mode at m = 9. In the upper atmosphere(304 ?A), fewer modes were detected at m = 3, 4, 7. The azimuthal modes in the sunspot's low atmosphere could be interpreted as high-order azimuthal MHD body modes. They were detected in the power and phase of the five-minute oscillations in sunspot AR 11131 with SDO/AIA data. Fewer modes were detected in the sunspot's upper atmosphere.  相似文献

The Mariner 9 S-band radio occultation measurements, which were taken over half a Martian year, were examined for seasonal variations in atmospheric pressures and temperatures. Seasonally related atmospheric pressure oscillations on a global scale were discovered when the pressures were compared on equi-potential levels. There was a global increase in pressure of about 13% between northern winter and spring seasons, and a global decrease in pressure of nearly 14% between northern spring and summer seasons. The maximum global pressure occurred during the northern spring season approximately one Martian month prior to aphelion. These pressure oscillations were correlated with the seasonal growth and decay, and the total area of the polar caps.Temperatures in the mid-latitude regions near the subsolar points were highest during the northern winter season when Mars was closest to the sun. In addition, high latitudinal temperature gradients (up to 2°K per degree latitude) were found. This has important atmospheric dynamical implications, especially for the growth of baroclinic waves.Occultation observations also indicated that the average elevation of the southern hemisphere was nearly 4km higher than the northern hemisphere when referenced to an equipotential level. The occultation measurements showed that the atmospheric pressures near the surface in the southern hemisphere were 33 to 43% lower than the atmospheric pressures near the surface in the northern hemisphere. In addition to other parameters, the asymmetry in the density of the Martian atmosphere and the hemispheric altitude differences are important in understanding the seasonal dynamic processes that exist in the polar cap regions and in the Martian atmosphere generally.  相似文献

The photoelectric light curves of MM Her obtained in 1983 and 1984 by Evren (1985, 1987) were analyzed by two different methods. Firsly, the effects of the wave-like distortions on the observations were removed from the observed magnitudes by obtaining its mathematical expression. The remaining light curves were analyzed by using Wood's approach. Later, the light curves of the same years were treated by the method of Wilson-Devinney and distortions seen in the light curves were thought to be explained by locating the spots on the surface of the cooler component. The results obtained by two different approaches are in good agreement.  相似文献

Type Pi magnetic-field pulsation bursts were selected for which the associated aurorae were relatively simple and stable and occurred in the ionosphere between College and Fort Yukon in alaska. Power spectral-density traces for College and Fort Yukon HandD were computed and were studied relative to the aurora and to more complex events presented in earlier studies. The power spectral-density traces associated to simpler aurora were found to be consistent with the assumption of simpler 3-dimensional current systems as generators of the Pi waves. The spectra of associated precipitation pulsations had a peak near 10mHz in common with the magnetic field spectra in all events, and also near 3 mHz in one event. The precipitation pulsations at 3 and 10mHz may have enhanced the magnetic field spectra at those frequencies through modulation of the ionospheric resistance to the current.  相似文献

Stable recurrent sunspot groups from the Greenwich data set which were identified in at least two subsequent solar rotations were traced and meridional motions were determined from the two central meridian passages. In total, 327 meridional velocities were calculated and the results for the northern and the southern solar hemisphere were compared. A dependence of the solar meridional velocity vectors on the development status, latitude and position respectively to the activity belt of sunspots is investigated. The results indicate that sunspot groups are moving on the average away from the center of activity. This was found for sunspot groups growing and decreasing in area.  相似文献

The eclipsing binary V548 Cygni was observed photoelectrically in yellow and blue light at Ege University Observatory in 1975. A total of 857 observations were obtained of each colour. Three times of minima were obtained and new light elements were derived. The orbital analysis were made by the methods of Kitamura and Wood. The system has a third body whose total luminosity is greater than that of secondary companion.  相似文献
