A whole rock U-Th-Pb study was carried out on eight granites from a suite previously dated at 177 ± 4my(λ = 1.39 × 10?11yr?1) by Rb-Sr methods. A U-Pb isochron was not obtained owing to recent leaching of U in the outcrop. Seven samples gave a Th-Pb isochron with age 184 ± 16my(λ = 4.99 × 10?11yr?1), (20/8Pb204Pb)0 = 39.2 ± 0.2 and MSWD 0.8. The eighth sample fell off the line and was rejected on geological grounds. Dissolving 5 g aliquots of the powdered rock markedly improved the reproducibility of U analyses but analysis of the variances suggests that inhomogeneities still might exist between duplicate dissolutions. Th-Pb geochronology needs further development to bring it to the level of precision of the Rb-Sr method.  相似文献

Various rock magnetic techniques were applied to characterize magnetically the samples of a soil profile taken from west-central Minnesota. There is a marked change in magnetic properties as a function of depth in the core. X-ray analysis and Curie temperature measurements carried out on the magnetic fractions indicate that magnetite is the dominant iron oxide in both the top soil and the subsoil. The intensity of anhysteretic remanent magnetization (ARM) decreases sharply as the depth increases. In contrast, the stability of ARM was found to be higher for the subsoil. The surface soil sample was capable of acquiring a significant amount of viscous remanent magnetization (VRM). The VRM acquisition coefficient (Sa) of the subsoil (Sa= 3.18 × 10?6emu g?1, 3.18 × 10?6A m2 kg?1) was about ten times weaker than that of the top soil sample (Sa = 3.868 × 10?7emu g?1, 3.868 × 10?7A m2 kg?1). The magnetic domain state indicator, the ratio of coercivity of remanence to coercive force, Hcr/Hc, was 1.5 and 3.85 for the top soil and subsoil, respectively. It appears that the observed variations in magnetic properties down the present soil core is due only to a difference in grain size. We conclude that the magnetic grains in surface soil samples were more single-domain (SD) like whereas the magnetite grains in the subsoil samples were more likely in pseudo-single-domain (PSD) or small multidomain (MD) range. The observed lower stability for the surface soil samples is attributed to the presence of superparamagnetic grains whose presence was confirmed by transmission electron micrographs.  相似文献

Vertical eddy diffusivities (Kv's) have been estimated at fourteen widely separated locations from fourteen222Rn profiles and two228Ra profiles measured near the ocean floor as part of the Atlantic and Pacific GEOSECS programs. They show an inverse proportionality to the local buoyancy gradient [(g/?)(??pot/?z)] calculated from hydrographic measurements. The negative of the constant of proportionality is the buoyancy flux [?Kv(g/?)(??pot/?z)] which has a mean of ?4 × 10?6 cm2/sec3. Our results suggest that the buoyancy flux varies very little near the ocean floor. Kv's for the interior of the deep Pacific calculated from the relationship Kv = (4 × 10?6cm2/sec3)/[(g/?)(??pot/?z)] agree well with published estimates. Kv's calculated for the pycnocline are one to two orders of magnitude smaller than upper limits estimated from tritium and7Be distributions.Heat fluxes calculated with the model Kv's obtained from the222Rn profiles average 31 μcal cm?2 sec?1 in the Atlantic Ocean and 8 μcal cm?2 sec?1 in the Pacific Ocean.  相似文献

The thermal expansion of stishovite has been determined by an X-ray camera technique in a temperature range of 18 – 600°C at an atmospheric pressure. The thermal-expansion coefficients along the crystallographic a- and c-axes at 300 K are αa = (6.0 ± 0.6) · 10?6K?1 and αc = (1.4 ± 0.5) · 10?6K?1, respectively. 87Rb87Sr analyses of LL chondrites have been made in 10 whole rock meteorites, chondrules from Chainpur (LL3) and Soko Banja (LL4), density separates and chondrules from Guidder (LL5) and density separates from Jelica (LL6) and Ensisheim (LL6). Whole rocks define an isochron of age 4.486±0.020 Ga 87Rb=1.42×10?11a?1) and initial ratio (87Sr/86Sr)I=0.69887±0.00012. This is in agreement with the results for H- and E-type chondrites. Analyses for chondrules from Soko Banja yield a very good isochron of age 4.452±0.020 Ga and strontium initial ratio 0.69954±0.00024, and give an interval for metamorphism of (37±10)×106 a. A more poorly defined isochron is obtained for Jelica; the age is 4.423±0.041 Ga and the strontium initial ratio 0.69959±0.00029, indicating an interval for metamorphism of (70±60)×106 a. No isochron could be obtained for Chainpur. This could be due to terrestrial alteration or to a late isotopic disturbance of the meteorite. The87Rb-87Sr system is also disturbed in Guidder and Ensisheim, probably as a consequence of shock. These results are discussed in comparison with our former studies, and in relation with thermal metamorphism in the LL chondrite parent body(ies).  相似文献

The structure and theory of a tiltmeter with a liquid used as an inertial body and damper and a float with a string converter fitted with reliable remote system of arrestment used as acceleration indicator are described. The device’s calculated error is about ±4 × 10?5 (±2 × 10?10) g in the range of ±4 (±2 × 10?5) g. The evolution of the deep salinity-maximum associated with the Lower Circumpolar Deep Water (LCDW) is assessed using a set of 37 hydrographic sections collected over a 20-year period in the Southern Ocean as part of the WOCE/CLIVAR programme. A circumpolar decrease in the value of the salinity-maximum is observed eastwards from the North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW) in the Atlantic sector of the Southern Ocean through the Indian and Pacific sectors to Drake Passage. Isopycnal mixing processes are limited by circumpolar fronts, and in the Atlantic sector, this acts to limit the direct poleward propagation of the salinity signal. Limited entrainment occurs into the Weddell Gyre, with LCDW entering primarily through the eddy-dominated eastern limb. A vertical mixing coefficient, κV of (2.86 ± 1.06) × 10?4 m2 s?1 and an isopycnal mixing coefficient, κI of (8.97 ± 1.67) × 102 m2 s?1 are calculated for the eastern Indian and Pacific sectors of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC). A κV of (2.39 ± 2.83) × 10?5 m2 s?1, an order of magnitude smaller, and a κI of (2.47 ± 0.63) × 102 m2 s?1, three times smaller, are calculated for the southern and eastern Weddell Gyre reflecting a more turbulent regime in the ACC and a less turbulent regime in the Weddell Gyre. In agreement with other studies, we conclude that the ACC acts as a barrier to direct meridional transport and mixing in the Atlantic sector evidenced by the eastward propagation of the deep salinity-maximum signal, insulating the Weddell Gyre from short-term changes in NADW characteristics.  相似文献

In the present study, a digital waveform dataset of 216 local earthquakes recorded by the Egyptian National Seismic Network (ENSN) was used to estimate the attenuation of seismic wave energy in the greater Cairo region. The quality factor and the frequency dependence for Coda waves and S-waves were estimated and clarified. The Coda waves (Q c) and S-waves (Q d) quality factor were estimated by applying the single scattering model and Coda Normalization method, respectively, to bandpass-filtered seismograms of frequency bands centering at 1.5, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24?Hz. Lapse time dependence was also studied for the area, with the Coda waves analyzed through four lapse time windows (10, 20, 30 and 40?s). The average quality factor as function of frequency is found to be Q c?=?35?±?9f 0.9±0.02 and Q d?=?10?±?2f 0.9±0.02 for Coda and S-waves, respectively. This behavior is usually correlated with the degree of tectonic complexity and the presence of heterogeneities at several scales. The variation of Q c with frequency and lapse time shows that the lithosphere becomes more homogeneous with depth. In fact, by using the Coda Normalization method we obtained low Q d values as expected for a heterogeneous and active zone. The intrinsic quality factor (Q i ?1 ) was separated from the scattering quality factor (Q s ?1 ) by applying the Multiple Lapse Time Domain Window Analysis (MLTWA) method under the assumption of multiple isotropic scattering with uniform distribution of scatters. The obtained results suggest that the contribution of the intrinsic attenuation (Q i ?1 ) prevails on the scattering attenuation (Q s ?1 ) at frequencies higher than 3?Hz.  相似文献

Studies of the sulphur hydrolysis reaction, 4S + 4H2O /ag 3H2S + HSO4? + H+, were conducted between 200 and 320°C in sealed silica glass tubes. The isotope exchange reaction: H218O + HS16O4? /ag H216O + HS18O4? is so rapid at the low pH (1.5–3) as to be unquenchable. However, the sulphur isotope exchange reaction: H234S+ H32SO4? /ag H232S + H34SO4? gave t12 values of 0.1, 0.3 and 1.7 days at 320, 260 and 200°C respectively and equilibrium H2S - HSO4? sulphur isotope fractionation values of 20.9, 22.4, 24.8, 26.7 and 29.3‰ at 320, 290, 260, 230 and 200°C respectively. This latter data is represented by: 1000lnα(HSO4??H2S) = 5.07 (106T?2) + 6.33, and has valuable applications in geothermal and ore deposit studies.  相似文献

A second-order hydrostatic theory is developed on the assumption that the trace of the Earth's inertia tensor, its mass and mean radius are invariant under any process causing deviations from the hydrostatic state.The hydrostatic flattening and the zonal coefficients of the hydrostatic gravitational field are obtained as ??1 = 299.638, J2 = 1072.618 × 10?6 and J4 = ?2.992 × 10?6, respectively.The internal theory using the preliminary reference earth model (PREM) of Dziewonski and Anderson (1981) yields ??1 = 299.627, J2 = 1072.701 × 10?6 and J4 = ?2.992 × 10?6. The agreement between these and the hydrostatic values indicate that PREM is suitable as a reference model as it represents the spheroidal density distribution in a state of zero non-hydrostatic stress while satisfying the fundamental geodetic observations of the invariant quantities.The small discrepancy between the hydrostatic flattening and the value deduced from PREM suggests that the density is underestimated at large depths and/or it is slightly overestimated in shallow regions of the Earth.The discrepancies between the hydrostatic and observed quantities persist after the removal of the accountable effects of isostatically compensated topography, permanent tidal deformation and the present mass anomalies associated with the Late-Pleistocene deglaciation. These ‘corrected’ discrepancies point to a triaxial non-hydrostatic figure which cannot be explained by the delayed response of the Earth to tidal deceleration.  相似文献

A wave flume experiment was conducted to study nutrient fluxes at water-sediment interface of Meiliang Bay under different hydrodynamic conditions. The results reveal that hydrodynamics has remarkable effects on nutrient fluxes in this area. With a bottom wave stress of 0.019 N m?2 (equivalent to disturbance caused by wind SE 5–7 m s?1 at the sediment sample site of Meiliang Bay), the fluxes of TN, TDN and NH4 +-N were separately 1.92 × 10?3, ?1.81 × 10?4 and 5.28 × 10?4 mg m?2 s?1 (positive for upward and negative for downward), but for TP, TDP and SRP, the fluxes were 5.69 × 10?4, 1.68 × 10?4 and ?1.29 × 10?4 mg m?2 s?1. In order to calculate the released amount of nutrients based on these results, statistic analysis on the long-term meteorological data was conducted. The result shows that the maximum lasting time for wind SE 5–7 m s?1 in this area is about 15 h in summer. Further calculation shows that 111 t TN, 32 t NH4 +-N, 34 t TP and 10 t TDP can be released into water (the sediment area was 47.45% of the whole surface area), resulting in concentration increase of 0.025, 0.007, 0.007 and 0.002 mg L?1 separately. With stronger disturbance (bottom wave stress is 0.217 N m?2 which is equivalent to disturbance caused by wind SE 10–11 m s?1 at the same site), there has been significant increase of nutrient fluxes (1.16 × 10?2, 6.76 × 10?3, 1.14 × 10?2 and 2.14 × 10?3 mg m?2 s?1 for TN, DTN and NH4 +-N and TP). The exceptions were TDP with flux having a decrease (measured to be 9.54 × 10?5 mg m?2 s?1) and SRP with flux having a small increase (measured to be 5.42 × 10?5 mg m?2 s?1). The same statistic analysis on meteorological data reveal that the maximum lasting time for wind SE 10–11 m s?1 is no more than 5 h. Based on the nutrient fluxes and the wind lasting-time, similar calculations were also made suggesting that 232 t TN, 134.9 t TDN, 228 t NH4 +-N, 42.7 t TP, 2.0 t TDP and 1.1 t SRP will be released from sediment at this hydrodynamic condition resulting in the concentration increases of 0.050, 0.029, 0.049, 0.009, 0.0004 and 0.0002 mg L?1. Therefore in shallow lakes, surface disturbance can lead to significant increase of nutrient concentrations although some components in water column had negative flux with weak disturbance (e.g. TDN and SRP in this experiment). In this case, sediment looks to be a source of nutrients. These nutrients deposited in sediment can be carried or released into water with sediment resuspension or changes of environmental conditions at water-sediment interface, which can have great effects on aquatic ecosystem and is also the characteristics of shallow lakes.  相似文献

Cosmic-ray-produced53Mn (t1/2 = 3.7 × 106years) was measured in individual and groups of deep-sea iron and stony spherules by highly sensitive neutron activation analysis. The activities found were less than 20 dpm53Mn/kg Fe (10?5?10?6 dpm53Mn/sample) in iron spherules except one iron spherule whose activity was 241 ± 73 dpm53Mn/kg Fe. These low activities may indicate evaporative loss of53Mn due to heating in the earth's atmosphere. On the other hand, all stony spherules contained 200–260 dpm53Mn/kg Fe which is similar to chondritic values. These spherules may be ablation debris from large objects.  相似文献

Cosmic-ray-produced53Mn (t1/2 = 3.7 × 106years) has been measured in twenty Antarctic meteorites by neutron activation analysis.36Cl (t1/2 = 3.0 × 105years) has been measured in fourteen of these objects by tandem accelerator mass spectrometry. Cosmic ray exposure ages and terrestrial ages of the meteorites are calculated from these results and from rare gases.14C (t1/2 = 5740years) and26Al (t1/2 = 7.2 × 105years) data. The terrestrial ages range from 3 × 104 to 5 × 105 years. Many of the L3 Allan Hills chrondrites seem to be a single fall based on these results. In addition,10Be (t1/2 = 1.6 × 106years) and36Cl have been measured in six Antarctic ice samples. The first measurements of10Be/36Cl ratios in the ice core samples demonstrate a new dating method for ice.  相似文献

Additionally,36Cl (1/2 = 3.0 × 105years) has been measured in seven of these objects using tandem accelerator mass spectrometry. These results, along with14C (t1/2 = 5740years) and26Al (7.2 × 105 years) concentrations determined elsewhere, yield terrestrial ages ranging from 0.1 × 105 to 7 × 105 years. High concentration ground-level ozone(O3)has adverse effects on plant growth and photosynthesis.Compared to the O3concentration-based index,the O3flux-based(especially stomatal O3uptake)index has been considered the better criterion for assessing the impact of ozone on vegetation and ecosystems.This paper reports on a study of O3flux using the eddy covariance technique over a corn field in the Northwestern Shandong Plain of China.Diurnal variation of atmospheric O3concentration,deposition velocity and flux,and their relationships to environmental factors are analyzed.The results show that:(1)During the observation period(9 August–28 September,2011),there was a strong diurnal variation of O3concentration,with low(16.5 nL L?1)and high(60.1 nL L?1)O3mean concentrations observed around 6:30 and 16:00,respectively.Mean O3concentrations during daytime(6:00–18:00)and nighttime(18:00–6:00)were 39.8±23.1 and 20.7±14.1 nL L?1(mean±std),respectively.The maximum observed concentration was 97.5 nL L?1.The concentration was mainly affected by solar radiation and air temperature.(2)Whether daytime or nighttime,ground-level O3flux is always downward.The diurnal course of mean deposition velocity was divided into 4 phases:a low and stable process during nighttime,fast increasing in early morning,relatively large and steady changes around noon,and quickly decreasing in later afternoon.Daytime and nighttime mean deposition velocities were 0.29 and 0.09 cm s?1,respectively.The maximum deposition velocity was 0.81 cm s?1.The magnitude of deposition velocity was influenced by the corn growth period,and its diurnal variation was significantly correlated with global radiation and relative humidity.(3)O3flux was affected by variations of both O3concentration and deposition velocity,with mean O3fluxes-317.7 and?70.2 ng m?2s?1during daytime and nighttime,respectively.There was strong correlation between O3flux and CO2flux or latent heat flux.By comparing the deposition velocities of daytime and nighttime,we infer that stomatal uptake was probably the main sink of ground-level O3.  相似文献

The concentration of rock-forming elements, the static magnetic susceptibility κ, spectra of electron paramagnetic resonance, and their relative intensities I are studied in samples from a borehole drilled in Cenozoic sedimentary deposits of southern Western Siberia. All measured values experience appreciable irregular variations with depth. A linear dependence exists between κ and I within the range of their medium and large values; κ and I have maximum values in the same sample, and κmax = 1920 × 10?6SI, κmin = 210 × 10?6 SI, and κav = 630 × 10?6 SI. The magnetic properties of the samples are controlled by Fe2+ ions present in clastic material and by microphases (clusters) with Fe3+ ions of the goethite and lepidocrocite type present in the cement. The theoretically possible magnetic susceptibility of the Fe2+ ion system (provided that all iron exists in this form) is quite comparable with κmin but, even with very high concentrations of Fe2+, does not reach half of κav: (154 < κ(Fe2+) < 254) × 10?6 SI. Anomalously high values of κ are due to a large number of clusters with Fe3+ ions if structural units FeOOH do not dissociate and the interaction of the clusters with hydroxides of aluminum and precipitation medium impedes the process of their coagulation. Otherwise, the cluster sizes gradually increase, an antiferromagnetic structure develops in clusters, and the magnetic susceptibility decreases.  相似文献

This study illustrates the degradation of an azo dye, Reactive Yellow 81 (RY81), by the combined irradiation of UV‐C and ultrasound in the presence of homogeneous (Fe2+) and heterogeneous (TiO2, ZnO) catalysts. The efficiency of homogeneous and heterogeneous oxidation systems was evaluated in regard of the decolorization and mineralization of RY81. Decolorization followed pseudo‐first‐order kinetics with homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. Complete color removal was accomplished by homogeneous sonocatalytic and sonophotocatalytic oxidation processes with apparent rate constants of 0.96 × 10?3 and 46.77 × 10?3 s?1, respectively, in the presence of Fe2+. However, partial color removal was obtained by heterogeneous sonocatalytic, photocatalytic, and sonophotocatalytic oxidation processes with apparent rate constants of 2.32 × 10?3, 3.60 × 10?3, and 3.67 × 10?3 s?1, respectively, in the presence of ZnO. TiO2 had the worst catalytic effect of all of the oxidation processes. The addition of hydrogen peroxide increased the rate constants of the heterogeneous oxidation processes and decreased the rate constants of the homogeneous oxidation processes. RY81 mineralization was 62.8% for the US/UV/Fe2+ homogeneous oxidation process, which was the best oxidation process, whereas it was 43.5% for the US/UV/ZnO/H2O2 heterogeneous oxidation process within 2 h reaction time.  相似文献

13C/12C- and 18O/16O-signatures of Calcite Precipitations in Drainage Systems Measurements of drainage waters show two distinct processes of calcite precipitation: 1. reprecipitation of calcium carbonate previously dissolved in groundwaters and 2. absorption of atmospheric CO2 by alkaline solutions. Both processes may be distinguished by the stable isotopes of oxygen and carbon. Calcite precipitated from carbonate groundwater yields δ13C ≈ ?13%0 (PDB) and δ18O ≈ 24%0 (SMOW), whereas calcite produced by CO2-absorption shows δ13C ≈ ?25%0 (PDB) and δ18O ≈ 10%0 (SMOW).  相似文献

The Dinghushan flux observation site, as one of the four forest sites of ChinaFLUX, aims to acquire long-term measurements of CO2 flux over a typical southern subtropical evergreen coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest ecosystem using the open path eddy covariance method. Based on two years of data from 2003 to 2004, the characteristics of temporal variation in CO2 flux and its response to environmental factors in the forest ecosystem are analyzed. Provided two-dimensional coordinate rotation, WPL correction and quality control, poor energy-balance and underestimation of ecosystem respiration during nighttime implied that there could be a CO2 leak during the nighttime at the site. Using daytime (PAR > 1.0 μmol?1·m?2·s?1) flux data during windy conditions (u* > 0.2 m·s?1), monthly ecosystem respiration (Reco) was derived through the Michaelis-Menten equation modeling the relationship between net ecosystem C02 exchange (NEE) and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). Exponential function was employed to describe the relationship between Reco and soil temperature at 5 cm depth (Ts05), then Reco of both daytime and nighttime was calculated respectively by the function. The major results are: (i) Derived from the Michaelis-Menten equation, the apparent quantum yield (α) was 0.0027±0.0011 mgCO2·μmol?1 photons, and the maximum photosynthetic assimilation rate (Amax) was 1.102±0.288 mgCO2·m?2·s?1. Indistinctive seasonal variation of α or Amax was consistent with weak seasonal dynamics of leaf area index (LAf) in such a lower subtropical evergreen mixed forest, (ii) Monthly accumulated Reco was estimated as 95.3±21.1 gC·m?2mon?1, accounting for about 68% of the gross primary product (GPP). Monthly accumulated WEE was estimated as ?43.2±29.6 gC·m?2·mon?1. The forest ecosystem acted as carbon sink all year round without any seasonal carbon efflux period. Annual NEE of 2003 and 2004 was estimated as ?563.0 and ?441.2 gC·m?2·a?1 respectively, accounting for about 32% of GPP.  相似文献
