Earthquake observations and microtremor measurements were conducted on a 12-storey steel-reinforced concrete building just after its completion. Marked stiffness deterioration was observed over the following five-year period, during which time several earthquakes were recorded and two additional series of microtremor measurements were made. The large contribution made by non-structural elements (especially the curtain walls that cover all sides of the building) to the apparent stiffness of the entire building was lost during this period. Both ageing effects and stiffness reductions depend greatly on the amplitude of the structural response of this building.  相似文献

The paper is a study of the natural frequencies and mode shapes of planar, coupled shear walls, a common lateral resistive element in building construction. The equations of motion are derived for the general case, and the eigenvalue problem associated with free vibrations of equal, constant shear walls is solved, both with and without the inclusion of the inertia of vertical motion. Explicit solutions are presented for the characteristic equation and the mode shapes and the results are illustrated with figures, including an example calculation based on the shear walls of the Mt. McKinley Building, damaged by the Alaskan earthquake of 1964. The results affirm the necessity of including vertical displacement of the shear walls in the analysis of such systems, and suggest that the inertia of vertical motion also must be considered in the analysis for certain ranges of the parameters.  相似文献

In Italy infills and partitions (non-structural elements) are typically made up of hollow brick masonry, disposed in one or two parallel vertical walls. Many studies have analysed their role on the seismic behaviour of moment resisting framed RC buildings and many seismic codes, all over the world, have provided specific additional measures for them. During the Abruzzo seismic sequence, non-structural damage in RC buildings, both private and public, was extensive, varying from small cracks to collapse, along with minor or no damage to structural elements. This damage involved a number of buildings, both old and recently completed, determining heavy socio-economic consequences, including human casualties, loss of building functionality (particularly important in case of strategic constructions), and unusable buildings. In this paper a review of the most frequent damage patterns is performed, aimed at identifying the main causes of damage and linking them to commonly adopted construction rules. For this purpose, local and global structural configurations frequently exhibiting non-structural damage are described, aside from out-of-plane and in-plane failures. Furthermore, a review of code provisions on non structural elements has been performed in the paper making reference to the most prominent current seismic codes and, finally, some design and construction rules are suggested.  相似文献

A shear wall building is considered as an assembly of plane and curvilinear shear walls tied together by floor slabs to act as a composite unit. Based on this conception and the continuous medium approach, the governing dynamic equations and boundary conditions are derived from energy principles, using Vlasov's theory of thin-walled beams. All primary and secondary inertia forces, as well as the influence of elastic foundation flexibility, have been taken into consideration. A numerical solution of the dynamic equations is achieved by employing the Ritz-Galerkin technique, yielding both natural frequencies and mode shapes. The technique is applicable to buildings containing coupled and non-coupled, open section shear walls oriented in plan in any arbitrary manner. The use of the method is illustrated by the example of a complex building with unsymmetric plan, and the analytical natural frequencies of two shear wall building models are compared with those obtained experimentally by other investigators.  相似文献

Most buildings in Singapore are lightly reinforced concrete structures, which are mainly designed for gravity loading only, because Singapore is an island country located in a low‐to‐moderate seismic region. The dynamic properties of a typical high‐rise residential building with a long, narrow rectangular floor plan are studied using both experimental and numerical methods. The effects of the brick infill walls and the flexible diaphragms on the dynamic characteristics of the building are discussed in detail. The results from the ambient vibration tests are correlated with the numerical results of three different finite element models with different levels of sophistication. They include a bare frame model, a frame model with brick infill walls, and a frame model with both brick infill walls and flexible diaphragms. The dynamic properties of the third model match very well with the measured results in terms of both the natural frequencies and the mode shapes. The correlation results demonstrate the respective effects of the brick infill walls and the flexible diaphragms on the dynamic characteristics of the narrow‐rectangle building structure. The Di Wang Tower located in Shenzhen has 79 storeys and is about 325 m high. Field measurements have been conducted to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the super‐tall building. In parallel with the field measurements, seven finite element models have been established to model the multi‐outrigger‐braced tall building and to analyse the effects of various arrangements of outrigger belts and vertical bracings on the dynamic characteristics and responses of the Di Wang Tower under the design wind load and earthquake action. The distributions of shear forces in vertical structural components along the building height are also presented and discussed. The results from detailed modelling of group shear walls with several types of finite elements are addressed and compared to investigate various modelling assumptions. Finally, the performance of the finite element models is evaluated by correlating the natural frequencies and mode shapes from the numerical analysis with the finite element models and the field measurements. 建筑结构响应是有效反映结构动力特性的最直接参数,开展结构动力响应实时监测可为结构抗震韧性评估提供准确的地震动输入。本文基于非结构构件损失构建结构抗震韧性评估方法,研究确定位移敏感型和加速度敏感型非结构构件的易损性模型。选择某六层钢筋混凝土框架结构进行实时监测系统建设,基于监测数据开展结构抗震韧性评估。通过构建建筑信息模型(BIM),并在有限元分析软件OpenSees中建立结构弹塑性分析模型,利用实时监测数据实现结构模型更新,直至监测数据与模型分析结果一致。由于实时监测数据峰值较低,结构不会发生塑性变形,因此选择10条双向非脉冲地震动模拟实时监测地震记录。根据层间位移角和楼面加速度分布,开展结构功能损失评估,得到该建筑结构的抗震韧性得分。分析表明,该结构抗震性能较好,在遭受地震破坏后,会发生非结构构件脱落,需要采取有效措施进一步提升建筑抗震韧性水平。  相似文献

Building frequencies (fundamental and higher modes) are a critical parameter especially in the field of structural health monitoring mainly based on the stability of the structural dynamic parameters of individual building (frequencies, damping and modes shape). One of the most used methods to find out these parameters is based on the use on ambient vibration analysis. In this work, we study the fluctuations over a month period of the fundamental frequencies (transverse and longitudinal) of a 3.5-story RC-building made of 2 identical units connected by a structural joint. Time independent building frequencies is a strong assumption; as illustrated by our experiment showing that over an observation period of a month, building frequencies fluctuate of about 3.5 %. A clear correlation is found between the building frequency fluctuations and temperature variations, with a phase-shift interpreted as the characteristic time of heat diffusion within the walls. This allows: (1) determining the thermal diffusivity of the structure, (2) inferring its relative stiffness variations, and (3) showing that its Young modulus varies linearly with temperature.  相似文献

本文采用子空间迭代法计算了预应力组合网架的自振频率与振型,分析总结了结构的自振特性及其影响因素,诸如索预应力、跨高比、边界条件、板和梁肋偏心、附加质量以及节点刚度的影响,并回归得出预应力组合网架基本周期简化计算公式。同时使用“脉动法”对天津一中新建活动中心楼层预应力组合网架进行了现场动力测试,结果表明预应力组合网架动力计算所采用的计算模型合理、计算分析结果可信,最后使用自由振动法及半功率点法得出了预应力组合网架结构的阻尼比,此值可作为钢与混凝土预应力组合网架结构的参考阻尼比。  相似文献

This paper summarizes the research on non-structural elements and building contents being conducted at University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Since the 2010-2011 series of Canterbury earthquakes, in which damage to non-structural components and contents contributed heavily to downtime and overall financial loss, attention to seismic performance and design of non-structural components and contents in buildings has increased exponentially in NZ. This has resulted in an increased allocation of resources to research leading to development of more resilient non-structural systems in buildings that would incur substantially less damage and cause little downtime during earthquakes. In the last few years, NZ researchers have made important developments in understanding and improving the seismic performance of secondary building elements such as partitions, facades, ceilings and contents.  相似文献

The dynamic properties of the twenty-two-story, steel-frame San Diego Gas and Electric Company Building in San Diego, California, have been determined experimentally in a series of co-operative tests between the California Institute of Technology and the University of California at Los Angeles. The building was vibrated by two eccentric mass exciters capable of frequencies up to 10 c/sec and forces as much as 5000 Ib each. The natural frequencies, associated mode shapes and the amounts of damping were determined for the first six modes of vibration in each of the two translational directions, and also in torsion. The mode shapes and frequencies showed, in general, the regularity and uniformity that appears typical of many tall buildings, but the three fundamental modes (nominally NS, EW and torsion) of the structure showed a coupling of translational and rotational components to a degree that was unexpected in a building whose structural frame is essentially symmetric. It is believed that this may be a consequence of the exceptionally small differences among the three fundamental frequencies. The damping in the first eighteen modes of the structure varied from 1.6 to 4.4 per cent, with a slight tendency for the larger values to be associated with the higher modes. Of the simpler damping models that might be used for analysis of the building, constant modal damping appears most appropriate and stiffness or mass proportional damping would not be realistic.  相似文献

Finite element analyses were used to investigate the behavior of the building vibration induced by high-speed trains moving on bridges. The model includes the bridge, nearby building, soil and train. Finite element results indicate that trainload frequencies are more important than the natural frequencies of bridges and trains for building vibrations. If the building natural frequencies approach to the trainload frequencies, which equal an integer times the train speed over the compartment length, the resonance occurs and the building vibration will be large. Moreover, the vibration shape is similar to the mode shape of the resonance building frequency. To isolate the building vibration induced by moving trains, this paper investigates three common types of foundations, which include the extension of retaining walls, pile foundation and soil improvement around the building. Soil improvement around the building is the best way to reduce the building vibration both in horizontal and vertical directions.  相似文献

In the usual assignment of mass for shear building models, the mass of the columns is lumped with the mass of the floor at each floor level. In order to account for frequencies of modes higher than N in an N-storey building, however, additional column masses must be identified. In this note, such additional masses are located at the mid-height of each column, and the characteristics of the shapes and frequencies of the resulting higher mode set are investigated.  相似文献

A simple modal damping identification model developed by the present authors for classically damped linear building frames is extended here to the non-classically damped case. The modal damping values are obtained with the aid of the frequency domain modulus of the roof-to-basement transfer function and the resonant frequencies of the structure (peaks of the transfer function) as well as the modal participation factors and mode shapes of the undamped structure. The assumption is made that the modulus of the transfer function of the non-classically damped structure matches the one of the classically damped structure in a discrete manner, i.e., at the resonant frequencies of that function modulus. This proposed approximate identification method is applied to a number of plane building frames with and without pronounced non-classical damping under different with respect to their frequency content earthquakes and its limitations and range of applicability are assessed with respect to the accuracy of both the identified damping ratios and that of the seismic structural response obtained by classical mode superposition and use of those identified modal damping ratios.  相似文献

依据笔者在四川省绵竹市、都江堰市参加建设部组织的汶川地震震后房屋应急评估所取得的资料,对该次地震造成的建筑结构破坏进行了分析,从砖砌体结构、混凝土框架结构、构造问题以及设计与施工缺陷4个方面,论述了各种破坏的形态与成因,讨论了现行设计方法中存在的问题,提出了相应的改进建议。主要结论有:砌体结构的底层墙体强度不足、开间过大、形体复杂是导致其破坏的重要原因,在设计中,应适当提高砌体结构底层墙体的强度,控制房屋的开间,加强形体变化部位;砌体结构的窗下墙应作为连接墙肢的连梁考虑,可以将其设计成抗震设防的第一道防线;框架结构设计中,应考虑框架与填充墙的相互作用,考虑楼梯斜梁或斜板参与结构的整体受力;在现行规范要求的基础上,要适当增加框架柱的截面,节点附近的箍筋应采用焊接封闭箍或螺旋箍;应加强非结构构件的连接与锚固;对乡村房屋建设应予以监管,杜绝结构体系不明确的房屋出现。  相似文献

This paper presents an efficient procedure to determine the natural frequencies, modal damping ratios and mode shapes for torsionally coupled shear buildings using earthquake response records. It is shown that the responses recorded at the top and first floor levels are sufficient to identify the dominant modal properties of a multistoried torsionally coupled shear building with uniform mass and constant eccentricity even when the input excitation is not known. The procedure applies eigenrealization algorithm to generate the state‐space model of the structure using the cross‐correlations among the measured responses. The dynamic characteristics of the structure are determined from the state‐space realization matrices. Since the mode shapes are obtained only at the instrumented floor (top and first floors) levels, a new mode shape interpolation technique has been proposed to estimate the mode shape coefficients at the remaining floor levels. The application of the procedure has been demonstrated through a numerical experiment on an eight‐storied torsionally coupled shear building subjected to earthquake base excitation. The results show that the proposed parameter identification technique is capable of identifying dominant modal parameters and responses even with significant noise contamination of the response records. Using the concept of lumped masses and rigid floor slabs, several mathematical models were built using a popular PC‐based finite element program to model a tall building with a frame‐core wall structural system. These models were analysed to obtain the first nine mode shapes and their natural frequencies which were compared with those from field measurements, using numerical correlation indicators. The comparison shows several factors that can have a significant effect on the analysis results. Firstly, outriggers connecting the outer framed tube system to the inner core walled tube system have a significant effect on fundamental translational mode behaviour. Secondly, detailed modelling of the core considering major and minor openings as well as internal thin walls has the strongest influence on torsional behaviour, whose measurements were shown to be an important aspect of the dynamic behaviour for the structure studied. Fine tuning of an analytical model requires not just considering variation in values of structural parameters but also attention to fine detail. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
