本文指出在球面斜压大气中的行星尺度扰动与纬向平均气流相互作用中必须考虑非地转风分量对位涡度南北方向输送的作用,从而证明了球面大气中行星尺度运动的波作用守恒,并求得球面大气中的行星尺度扰动与纬向平均气流相互作用的欧拉平均运动方程组。 本义利用1979年2月的实际天气观测资料分析了北半球一次对流层阻塞形势建立与平流层爆发性增温过程的行星波与纬向平均气流的相互作用。从分析结果可以看到:由于行星波向上传播,使得在高纬度对流层中、上层出现行星波的波作用通量(也称E-P通量)辐合,使得西风气流减速,因而在高纬度对流层中、上层形成阻塞形势。并且,随着行星波的继续向上传播,使得平流层下、中层的基本气流相继减速并出现东风,因而在平流层下、中层出现爆发性增温。然而,由于高纬度对流层低层出现东风,行星波不能往上传播,在上层波的E-P通量矢量变成辐散,气流由东风又变成西风。  相似文献

利用NCEP/NCAR再分析资料和大气环流模式(CCSR/NIES AGCM Ver 5.6),对北半球准定常行星波的气候平均态分布进行分析和模拟.再分析资料分析的结果表明:北半球冬季,准定常行星波沿两支波导向上传播,其中一支在对流层上层转向中低纬度传播,另外一支折向高纬度,通过极地波导上传到平流层.其中,1波和2波可以上传到平流层,因而其振幅分布除在中低纬的对流层上层出现一个次大值外,在高纬度平流层中上层会出现一个最大值,3波则主要限制在对流层,其振幅分布除在副热带对流层上层出现一个次大值外,最大值出现在中纬度对流层上层.北半球夏季,整个平流层为东风环流,极地波导不存在,行星波不能上传到平流层,在对流层活动也较弱,1波、2波、3波的传播情况大致相似,表现为在对流层上层由中纬度向赤道地区的传播.相应的振幅分布是,对1波和2波而言,最大值出现在中低纬对流层顶附近,同时在中高纬对流层上层出现一个次大值,而3波的振幅分布正好相反,最大值出现在中高纬对流层上层,次大值则在中低纬对流层顶附近.利用大气环流模式进行的数值模拟表明,模式可以比较好地模拟冬夏季准定常行星波的传播路径,但模拟的北半球冬季沿极地波导向平流层的传播明显偏弱,其结果是对1波、2波而言,高纬度平流层中上层的振幅最大值明显小于再分析资料的数值.文中还讨论了数值模拟与资料分析中行星波的差异可能对大气环流模拟的影响.  相似文献

利用1958~1997年NCEP/NCAR一日四次的风场再分析资料,系统地分析了季节平均西风角动量(即u角动量)经向、垂直输送通量及其三个分量(平均经圈环流、定常波、瞬变涡输送通量)的气候特征,特别是讨论了12~2月、6~8月它们与东、西风带、副热带西风急流、极夜急流之间的联系。结果表明:(1)包含纬度因子的角动量通量与动量通量在高纬地区存在显著差别,高纬对流层上部的强动量输送中心在角动量通量中不明显。而u角动量强经向输送主要在中低纬对流层顶附近和冬半球高纬平流层顶附近,副热带西风急流和极夜西风急流均位于u角动量强向极输送中心及其高纬一侧的辐合区中。(2)发现三个输送分量对急流维持的作用随纬度、季节不同。北半球冬季(夏季)的副热带西风急流主要由平均经圈环流(强度相当的定常波和瞬变涡)强经向输送及辐合维持;南半球西风急流全年均由平均经圈环流和瞬变涡旋输送及辐合维持;冬半球中平流层极夜急流主要由定常波、瞬变涡旋输送及其辐合共同维持。(3)热带东风区是牵连角动量(即Ω角动量)的高值区,它主要由平均经圈环流向对流层上部输送;冬半球副热带及中纬西风区存在u角动量垂直输送的切变区,它主要由平均经圈环流和瞬变涡旋完成;热带对流层顶附近有u角动量的定常波弱向下输送。  相似文献

利用NCEP/NCAR再分析资料,首先讨论了热带纬向风准两年振荡(QBO)的东、西风位相的划分标准.结果发现,赤道50 hPa的风与西风深厚度关系最密切,即赤道50 hPa的纬向平均风为西(东)风时往往代表平流层下层为一层深厚的西(东)风.在此基础上诊断分析了1958/1959~1997/1998年共40个冬季中热带纬向风QBO对北半球中高纬度地区纬向平均环流和准定常行星波传播的影响.诊断分析表明,热带QBO对北半球冬季大气环流的影响主要表现在平流层和对流层上层.热带QBO的东风位相年与西风位相年相比,中高纬地区的绕极西风环流明显减弱,中低纬地区则出现相反变化,从而在平流层的纬向平均环流分布上呈现偶极子形式.纬向平均流的这种年际变化可以很好地用中高纬度准定常行星波传播的异常加以解释,QBO的东风位相年和西风位相年相比,中高纬准定常行星波向极地的传播更强,从而在高纬度平流层产生异常的E-P通量辐合,波-流相互作用的结果使得西风减弱.但是热带纬向风QBO的影响在1958/1959~1997/1998年的前后20年有所差异.后20年相对于前20年而言,东西风位相的差异有所减小,Hol-ton-Tan振荡明显减弱;就行星波传播而言,东风位相年下,前20年行星波向上传播较弱,而后20年则以大约70°N为分界点,以南向上传播较强,以北向上传播较弱.这种差异可能跟中高纬度纬向西风的自身变化有关.  相似文献

运用欧洲中心ECMWF/ERA-40的资料,分析剩余环流速度v·和W·的变化,从而获得行星波的调整对气候的长期变化的影响。结果表明:赤道气流在低纬度赤道地区由对流层顶上升至平流层中层乃至顶部,而后在中纬度地区下沉,中心位置随季节变化在赤道附近南北移动;剩余环流呈现出准两年的周期变化,剩余速度v·和W·与行星波的振幅三者表现出较好的相关性。另外,行星波波数从1波调整为2波后,平流层低层50hPa以下剩余环流增强,30hPa之上减弱;行星波波数从2波调整为1波后,平流层中层30hPa以下剩余环流减弱,20hPa以上为增强。  相似文献

平流层剩余环流是由剩余速度经向分量和垂直分量构成的平流层经向-垂直环流,它对于对流层-平流层相互作用和物质交换起着十分重要的作用。作者利用1979~2003年NCEP II再分析资料计算了剩余速度经向分量和垂直分量, 并与数值模拟结果进行了比较,再用计算的剩余环流讨论了它的季节变化、年际变化和长期变化趋势。计算结果表明,剩余环流的上升气流从低纬度赤道地区对流层顶上升到平流层下部,然后向极向下运动,在中纬度地区下沉, 进入对流层,这也就是Brewer-Dobson环流。计算结果同数值模拟结果比较一致。由此可见,可以利用NCEP资料得到比较清晰的剩余环流和Brewer-Dobson环流。剩余环流有明显的季节变化,上升气流的中心随着季节的变化在赤道地区南北移动,春秋季节其中心基本上位于赤道附近,南北半球大致呈对称分布,只是北半球副热带地区的下沉气流要比南半球强。在冬夏季节,上升气流的中心分别位于南北纬10°附近。北半球夏季的上升气流要比南半球夏季的上升气流强,同时冬半球的下沉气流比夏半球的下沉气流强。剩余环流还有年际变化和准两年周期振荡特征,在纬向风为西风位相时,赤道地区的上升气流比较弱;而在东风位相时,上升气流和水平方向的输送相对比较强。剩余环流的十年际变化表现为,1979~1983年、1990~1995年、2000~2003年较强,其他年份则较弱。在过去25年,就总的变化趋势而言,剩余环流的上升气流有所增强,平流层下部向中纬度地区的输送也有所增强,环流整体形势是增强的。  相似文献

在以赤道低平流层纬向风垂直切变为依据划分平流层QBO位相的基础上,讨论了赤道低平流层纬向风QBO与对流层环流及东亚季风的关系。结果表明:强冬季风和弱夏季风对应着赤道低平流层纬向风的东风切变位相,强夏季风和弱冬季风对应着赤道低平流层西风切变位相,赤道低平流层纬向风QBO对对流层环流有一定影响,冬春季节平流层与对流层的相互作用比夏秋季节明显。  相似文献

使用国家气候中心大气环流模式BCC_AGCM2.1的30年模拟试验资料,对平流层纬向环流场、高空急流、极涡及爆发性增温过程进行了数值模拟研究,并使用欧洲中期天气预报中心(ECMWF)和美国国家环境预报中心(NCEP)的再分析资料对模式输出结果进行了对比、分析。结果表明:(1) 在观测海温、二氧化碳、气溶胶等外强迫地驱动下,BCC模式能够很好地再现出与再分析资料一致的平流层纬向平均风场、温度场的分布特征和季节变化过程;模拟得到的温度廓线和高空急流与再分析资料的主要差别出现在南、北半球冬季的中高纬度地区;模拟得到的平流层温度普遍偏低,主要的差异位于对流层顶区域和平流层高层。(2) 模拟的对流层上层的副热带急流位置偏南、强度也偏弱,而平流层中的绕极极夜急流则位置偏北、强度更大。这样的急流分布特征使模拟的行星波向赤道的波导更强,向极的波导偏弱;同时由于模式中本身可以形成的行星波就比再分析资料弱,因此导致模拟结果中北半球冬季的平流层极涡更加稳定、极区温度更低。(3) BCC模式对于平流层极涡的季节变化特征模拟得较好,但对强极涡扰动过程,即北半球冬季的平流层爆发性增温(SSW)事件则模拟效果不佳,不论是增温事件出现的频率,还是增温的时间、强度,模拟结果和再分析资料都还存在一定偏差,需要在今后的工作中逐步改善。  相似文献

Summary Meridional eddy transports of sensible heat and zonal momentum caused by transient and stationary waves are computed from Australian operational analyses. The southward sensible heat flux by transient waves is largest in the midlatitudes, where cyclones are responsible for the heat exchange. The flux decreases towards the Weddell Sea. The transport by stationary waves reaches remarkable values locally in the tropics and off the Antarctic coasts. The transport of zonal momentum is mostly accomplished by transient eddies. Non-acceleration theorem in a primitive equation system is developed to investigate the influences of waves on the mean flow variation against external forcing. Numerical results show that mechanical forcing overwhelms thermal forcing in maintaining the mean flow in which the internal mechanical forcing associated with horizontal eddy flux of momentum plays the most important roles. Both internal forcing and external forcing are shown to be active and at the first place for the mean flow variations, whereas the forcing-induced mean meridional circulation is passive and secondary. It is also shown that the effects on mean flow of external mechanical forcing are concentrated in the lower troposphere, whereas those due to wave-mean flow interaction are more important in the upper troposphere. These act together and result in the vertically easterly shear in low latitudes and westerly shear in mid-latitudes. This verti-cal shear of mean flow is to some extent weakened by thermal forcing.  相似文献

Summary Lower tropospheric (1000–500) hPa kinetic energy (KE), temporal variations of KE and nonlinear KE transfer of rotational and divergent flows and energy conversion between them, partitioning further into stationary and transient components in the Fourier spectral domain and the mechanism for the evolution of significant transient waves for the month July 1979 in the latitudinal belt 10° S–30° N are studied.Divergent zonal and eddy KE show their maxima at the lowest level 1000 hPa. Lower tropospheric monsoon motion provides a non-divergent level close to 850 hPa. The daily flow patterns bear little resemblence to the climatology over tropics at 500 hPa. Although the transient mode of synoptic scale waves is stronger than that of planetary scale waves they are comparable. Analysis of energetics over global tropics can get signature of transient activities embedded in the large scale system. Summer momentum flux in the lower troposphere is essentially associated with stationary planetary and transient synoptic scale waves. Waves 1, 3 and 6 are the most preferred transient waves. Divergent to rotational KE conversion is the most dominating mechanism for the maintenance of planetary and synoptic scale waves. All categories of waves contribute towards the maintenance of zonal flows. The primary source of energy for transient synoptic scale waves is the transient divergent rotational KE transfer whereas the interaction between zonal stationary and transient wave is likely to be secondary source. Transient KE and all transient interactions, stationary KE and all stationary interactions are found to be strongest at 500 hPa and 850 hPa respectively. Growth and decay of transient waves 1 and 3 are mainly controlled by divergent-rotational KE conversions whereas those of transient wave 6 are controlled by KE transfer due to zonal-wave interaction.With 13 Figures  相似文献

Using 1958-2002 NCEPNCAR reanalysis data, we investigate stationary and transient planetary wave propagation and its role in wave-mean flow interaction which influences the state of the polar vortex (PV) in the stratosphere in Northern Hemisphere (NH) winter. This is done by analyzing the Eliassen-Palm (E-P) flux and its divergence. We find that the stationary and transient waves propagate upward and equatorward in NH winter, with stronger upward propagation of stationary waves from the troposphere to the stratosphere, and stronger equatorward propagation of transient waves from mid-latitudes to the subtropics in the troposphere. Stationary waves exhibit more upward propagation in the polar stratosphere during the weak polar vortex regime (WVR) than during the strong polar vortex regime (SVR). On the other hand, transient waves have more upward propagation during SVR than during WVR in the subpolar stratosphere, with a domain of low frequency waves. With different paths of upward propagation, both stationary and transient waves contribute to the maintenance of the observed stratospheric PV regimes in NH winter.  相似文献

In this paper, major features of the upper-tropospheric jet streams simulated by a coupled Climate System Model BCC_CSM1.1 are evaluated through comparison with the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis. The jet streams consist of the East Asian subtropical jet (EASJ) and the East Asian polar-front jet (EAPJ). Associated stationary wave and synoptic-scale transient eddy activities (STEA) are also examined. The results show that the climatological positions of the westerly jet streams are well captured by BCC_CSM1.1, but with slight intensity biases. Statistics from the 6-h model outputs reveal that the jet core number (JCN) of ESPJ is significantly underestimated. Examination of the simulated seasonal evolution of the westerly jet stream indicates that the model has produced a westward movement of the EASJ core in May, one month earlier than that in the reanalysis. Analysis of stationary wave activities shows that the overestimated meridional wind component may have caused considerable enhancement of meridional momentum and heat transport. The stationary Rossby wave represented by the wave activity flux at the southern flank of the Tibetan Plateau is favorable to the growth of asymmetric zonal wind and the multiple-center pattern of JCN. Unlike the stationary wave heat flux transport, the model tends to systematically generate weaker transient heat flux over East Asia. Further analysis of STEA exhibits a general consistent pattern between the simulation and the reanalysis, while the intensity of the northern STEA branch associated with the EAPJ is greatly reduced. The deficiencies of eddy momentum and heat flux transport and accompanied eddy forcing may contribute to the biases of the simulated upper-tropospheric jet streams, suggesting the potential importance of midlatitude internal atmospheric dynamics in shaping the tropospheric general circulation, which is not yet fully and accurately resolved in the current BCC_CSM1.1.  相似文献

The coupling between the stratosphere and the troposphere has been investigated by analysing low-frequency variations in: (1) the meridional mass flux into the polar cap (north of 60°N), computed separately for the stratosphere and the troposphere; (2) the polar cap mean surface pressure, and (3) the surface level meridional pressure gradient and zonal wind around 60°N. The analysis has been done for the 1979–93 Northern Hemisphere (NH) winters, using ECMWF reanalysis data. The results show that for all winters the meridional mass flux variations in the stratosphere precede those in the troposphere, by about one day. This result can also be obtained qualitatively with a very simple model, based on the zonally averaged zonal and meridional momentum equations. The lag is not very sensitive to the latitude of the southern boundary of the polar cap. The analysed variations in the polar cap mean surface pressure associated with variations in the meridional mass flux, determine most of the variability in the analysed meridional surface pressure gradient and the associated surface zonal wind around 60°N. The results also show that in the stratosphere the Coriolis force associated with the zonal-mean meridional wind is in near-balance with the convergence of the eddy momentum flux, and in the lower troposphere with the zonal frictional force. In summary, the results indicate that in the extratropical northern winter hemisphere, low-frequency variations in the meridional wind in the stratosphere induce low-frequency variations in the zonal wind near the surface.  相似文献

The momentum flux of stratospheric gravity waves generated by Typhoon Ewiniar (2006) is examined using a Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. In the stratosphere, zonal momentum flux with a positive sign by eastward-propagating waves is significant during the northward moving of the typhoon, while both zonal and meridional momentum fluxes with positive signs are significant during the typhoon decaying stage in which the typhoon moves northeastward. The magnitude of the momentum flux is greater during the mature stage of the typhoon than the decaying stage, and the phase speeds of the dominant momentum flux are less than 30 m s?1 with a peak at 10–16 m s?1. Positive momentum flux decreases with height overall in the stratosphere for both zonal and meridional components. The resultant gravity-wave drag forcing plays a role to decelerate the easterly background wind in the stratosphere. This drag forcing is relatively large above z = 40 km and below z = 20 km, and lower stratospheric wave drag is expected to affect the typhoon dynamics by modifying the background wind shear and inducing the secondary circulation in the troposphere.  相似文献

在中纬度北太平洋大气强斜压区,存在频繁的天气尺度涡旋活动,通过水分、动量和能量输送维持大气环流。为了进一步研究天气尺度涡旋发生发展与大尺度环流之间的联系,利用1981—2013年再分析资料,筛选出西部发展型天气尺度涡旋114个偏强日和87个偏弱日,给出了西部发展型天气尺度涡旋异常导致的动力和热力强迫的变化,同时从能量转换的角度分析了西部发展型天气尺度涡旋与平均流之间的相互作用,并探讨了其与西太平洋遥相关型的关系。结果表明:西部发展型天气尺度涡旋通过动力强迫和热力强迫影响平均流,其中动力强迫主要造成北太平洋中纬度上空的西风气流加速并向北移动;热力强迫的作用则是减弱中纬度大气斜压性。同时,强西部发展型天气尺度涡旋有利于西北太平洋上空对流层低层斜压有效位能向扰动动能的转化增大和扰动动能向平均流的转化增大,有利于中纬度地区对流层高层平均流向扰动动能的转化增大。此外,西部发展型天气尺度涡旋通过与平均流的作用,对维持西太平洋遥相关型的负位相有一定影响。  相似文献
