为了理论上研究非静力滞弹性模式中水平分辨率与垂直分辨率之间的搭配问题,以线性斜压滞弹性方程组为出发方程,导出解析的频散方程、水平群速方程和垂直群速方程,同时在最优三维网格C/CP下进行离散,也导出频散方程、水平群速方程和垂直群速方程,然后用图示的方法,比较了在不同的水平和垂直格距下模拟解析解所产生的误差。结果表明:当垂直格距和水平格距相当时,在C/CP网格上对惯性重力波的频率、水平群速和垂直群速都能较好地模拟,产生的相对误差均在5%以下。  相似文献

当稳定的层结气流越过不规则地形时,会激发地形重力波,在合适的条件下,这种重力波会向上传播。这种重力波的传播与大气静力稳定度、垂直风切变等有关,而且在垂直方向可以传播到很高的高度。为了在中期数值预报和气候模拟中,解决由于地形引起的系统误差,例如纬向风太强、急流位置有偏差等问题,就有必要考虑到由于地形激发的地形重力波及其对大尺度气流的作用。观测表明,与地形重力波有关的天气尺度雷诺应力的量级,一般情况下,只有几十个帕斯卡。地形重力波的水平波长也可能只有几十公里。由于数值模式分辨率的原因,  相似文献

为了研究垂直变量配置对静力适应过程的影响,本文从描写静力适应过程的方程组出发,分别在将所有变量置于整层上的非跳点N网格;将垂直速度和温度放置在整层,水平速度、气压和密度等变量放置在半层的Charney Phillips跳点网格(CP网格);将水平速度、气压和温度放置在整层,将垂直速度和密度放置在半层的Lorenz跳点网格(L网格);将密度变量放置在整层的Charney Phillips跳点网格(CP_N网格);将密度放置在整层的Lorenz跳点网格(L_N网格)上进行离散,垂直格距分1 km、0.5 km、0.2 km和0.01 km,研究了在这5种网格上产生的频率和垂直群速的相对误差。结果表明:(1)L_N网格和CP网格是完全等效的两种网格。(2)不论垂直格距为多少,CP网格和L网格的误差都是最小,N网格次之,CP_N网格的误差最大。(3)随着垂直格距的减少,在这几种网格上产生的误差都在减小。对于CP网格、L网格和N网格,在水平长波和垂直短波处产生的误差较大。而CP_N网格对水平波长变化不敏感,垂直波长越短,误差越大。(4)当垂直格距为0.01 km时,这几种网格都对水平波长的变化不敏感了,仅对垂直波长敏感。(5)CP网格、L_N网格和L网格在描写静力适应过程和斜压地转适应过程都是误差最小的垂直变量配置方案,因此在非静力完全可压缩深层大气数值预报模式中应优先选择这3种方案。  相似文献

由于中尺度模式中采用不同的三维变量配置,必将产生不同的预报和模拟效果.怎样的三维变量分布,才能产生最佳的模拟效果呢?一直没有人从事这方面的研究.为此,在线性非静力滞弹性方程组的基础上,从频率、水平群速和垂直群速方面将中尺度模式中常见的四种三维网格的计算频散性与解析解的情况进行了对比,主要采用图示比较的方法.结果表明:总的来看三维网格C/CP计算频散性能最好,Z/LZ和Z/LY网格次之,C/L网格最差.因此设计非静力斜压模式时,应尽量采用C/CP网格.但C/CP网格对水平波长较短的波,误差相对要大些.如果模拟的波动水平尺度较小时,为减少误差,水平格距要减小.另外C/CP网格主要用在有限差分模式中;要考虑谱模式中的变量配置时,应把C/CP网格和Z/LZ网格或Z/LY网格结合起来使用.  相似文献

本文对大气垂直运动方程的尺度分析和小量可否忽略重新进行了讨论,认为如同存在水平地转平衡一样,在大气垂直方向应当存在垂直地转平衡。并提出在大气垂直方向可能存在更高阶平衡:一级平衡为静力平衡,二级平衡为静力偏差和垂直柯氏力的垂直地转平衡,可能还存在第三级平衡,即垂直地转偏差和重力异常的平衡,最后,重力异常偏差的最级有可能与大气行星波垂直加速度和引潮力垂直分量已处于同一量级。  相似文献

为证明两种新的垂直跳点网格--LZ网格和LY网格的有效性,从频率、群速和出现错误群速的垂直尺度范围等方面与现有的几种垂直跳点网格和时间--垂直跳点网格进行了比较.结果表明:LZ网格计算频散性与目前使用的最广泛的并且计算频散性也是最佳的CP网格相当,而LY网格次之,从而为模式设计者选取垂直网格提供了又一种选择.  相似文献

通过数值计算扰动的波谱和谱函数,对垂直非线性切变基流中横波型扰动的不稳定作了数值研究,给出了不稳定谱函数的结构,讨论了不稳定的性质。主要结论有:在基流为非线性垂直切变时,对三支波动连续谱区互不重叠的天气尺度情况,此时出现的不稳定扰动其性质是准地转涡旋波的不稳定,即Rossby波的斜压不稳定。在中α尺度中高端,虽有涡旋波和重力惯性波连续谱区的部分重叠,但这时不稳定的性质仍是涡旋波的不稳定,即准平衡的斜压不稳定。在中α尺度低端,既有准平衡涡旋波的不稳定,又有非平衡的涡旋-重力惯性混合波的不稳定(第一类混合波不稳定)。中β尺度不稳定的性质则是非平衡的涡旋-重力惯性混合波的不稳定,包括第一类混合波不稳定和第二类混合波不稳定。上述情况与线性垂直切变基流的结论相一致,但这里因基流垂直分布较复杂,垂直方向会出现散涡比以1为界的多段交替分布。综上,对于横波型扰动,只要基流不是常数,且层结稳定,虽此时存在纯重力惯性波连续谱区,但均无纯重力惯性波的不稳定,只有涡旋-重力惯性混合波的不稳定。  相似文献

“斜压切变基流中横波型扰动的特征波动Ⅰ谱点分布”一文中分析了斜压切变基流中横波型扰动的谱点分布,这里又对其谱函数进行了分析讨论。结果表明当基流在垂直方向存在切变时,重力惯性波与涡旋波的谱函数在垂直方向上均可出现临界层,临界层的高度随频率σ而变化,即重力惯性波与涡旋波都存在连续谱,但涡旋波与重力惯性波连续谱的结构却不同;对天气尺度扰动,两支重力惯性波和1支涡旋波的连续谱不重叠,此时每支波动仅有1个临界层;而对次天气尺度的扰动,重力惯性波与涡旋波的连续谱区会发生重叠,在连续谱的重叠区,重力惯性波仍只有1个临界层,但涡旋波则可以有2个或3个临界层。无论是涡旋波还是重力惯性波其连续谱的波包随时间都是衰减的,但涡旋波波包比重力惯性波波包衰减得慢。  相似文献

通过数值模拟和诊断研究得出,9216号台风暴雨的增幅过程与台风中-α尺度重力惯性波的发展、传播,非均匀层结的分布以及积云对流潜热反馈有关。大尺度非线性平流项的作用激发出大尺度的重力惯性波,积云对流潜热加热作用导致非地转风场扰动大大加强,从而使重力惯性波波幅加大,上升运动增强,暴雨加大。当重力惯性波向稳定度减小的方向传播时,波能量最易加强  相似文献

静力平衡模式是目前数值天气预报的主要模式。近年来随着模式分辨率的提高,非静力平衡模式在中国的研制和MM5等模式的引进,从理论研究和应用的角度看,有必要对这两种模式在中尺度大气模拟中的适用性问题作细致的分析研究。本文从理论上分析了静力平衡假定下重力波频率模拟的误差,指出其相对误差随Δx增大成平方的减少。当Δx≥20km时,相对误差小于4%,当Δx≤10km时,相对误差可能大于16%。和一般顾名思义的概念不同,静力模式计算的重力波频率被夸大,计算的垂直加速度也由于略去惯性项而夸大。推导的准静力平衡模式,对静力平衡模式作了惯性项订正,个例试验也肯定了上述结果。  相似文献

This is the second part of "Mesoscale Instability of a Baroclinic Basic Flow" which discusses the instability of a basic flow against mesoscale perturbations of transversal type.A bi-mode instability spectrum is obtained by generalizing the Eady model to ageostrophic regime in an f-plane:Eady modes present at the synoptic and subsynoptic scales,while the ageostrophic baroclinic mesoscale modes present at the inertial scales of a few tens to hundreds kilometers.The mesoscale mode is featured by an asymmetric "eat eyes" pattern in the vertical cross section and by an alternative distribution of divergence and vorticity in the horizontal direction.The growth rates of the mesoscale modes are about four times larger than those of Eady modes in magnitudes for the same wind profile.The major energy source for development both Eady mode and mesoscale mode is the baroclinic available energy stored in the rotational basic flow.  相似文献

大气边界层中存在尺度从几百米到几十公里的大涡漩运动。它们在边界层中动量、热量、水汽等垂直输送中起重要作用。作者从边界层中对流和上部稳定层中波动相互作用的观点,发展得出大涡结构的对流波动理论。根据此理论,大涡的波谱构成主要由上、下层大气中风向、风速、层结以及两层之间的温度跃变等因素决定。本文根据卫星云图和天气资料分析了一次冷空气爆发流经暖洋面上形成云街、对流单体以及它们之间的相互演化的过程,并用对流波动理论,依据各阶段的大气条件计算出它们的波数构成,并得出了垂直速度、辐合带、界面扰动的分布,解释了云街、对流单体的形成、结构及相互转化的原因  相似文献

Summary The problem of along-stream ageostrophic frontogenesis is studied by employing a numerical model at meso-alpha and meso-beta scales in simulations of the downstream circulations over the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Three-dimensional real data simulations at these two scales of motion are used to diagnose the transition from semigeostrophic cross-stream frontogenesis accompanying a propagating baroclinic upper-level jet streak to midtropospheric along-stream ageostrophic frontogenesis. This along-stream ageostrophic frontogenesis results from the perturbation of the jet streak by the Rocky Mountain range. The case study represents an example of internal wave dynamics which are forced by the drag of the Rocky Mountains on a strong jet streak in the presence of a low-level inversion.The simulation results indicate that, unlike semi-geostrophic frontogenesis, a front (which is alligned perpendicular to the axis of the jet stream) may form when significant adiabatic heating occurs within a stratified shear flow over horizontal length scales shorter than the Rossby radius of deformation. The mechanism responsible for the frontogenesis is the growth of the divergent along-stream wind velocity component which becomes coupled to the front's along-stream pressure gradient force. This nonlinear interaction produces hydrostatic mesoscale frontogenesis as follows: 1) vertical wind shear in the along-stream plane strengthens resulting in the increasingly nonuniform vertical variation of horizontal temperature advection as the ageostrophic wind component grows in magnitude downstream of the meso-scale terrain-induced adiabatic heating, 2) increasing along-stream differential vertical motions (i.e., along-stream thermally indirect circulation with warm air sinking to the west and cold air rising to the east) tilt the vertical gradient of isentropes into the horizontal as the vertical temperature gradient increases due to the previous process in proximity to horizontal gradients in the along-stream component of the ageostrophic wind, 3) as tilting motions act to increase the along-stream horizontal temperature gradient, the along-stream confluence acts to nonuniformly increase the along-stream frontal temperature gradient which increases the along-stream pressure gradient force resulting in further accelerations, ageostrophy, and frontal steepening as part of a scale contraction process.The evolution of the aforementioned processes results in the three-dimensional hydrostatic frontogenesis accompanying the overturning of isentropic surfaces. These adjustments act to turn air parcels to the right of the southwesterly geostrophic wind vector at successively lower atmospheric levels as the scale contraction continues. Large vortices with scales ranging from hundreds meters to tens of kilometers are generallyfound in the atmospheric convective boundary layer(CBL).These vortices play important roles in the vertical transport of momentum,heat,water vaporand other tracers in the boundary layer.On the basis of the view of interaction between theconvection in CBL and the gravity waves in the upper stable layer the authors developed aconvection-wave theory on the formation of large vortices.According to the theory thewavenumber spectrum of the large vortices mainly depends on the atmospheric conditions in bothof the upper and lower layers,such as wind speed,wind direction shear,stratification as well astemperature jump.In the present paper satellite image and weather data in a case of cold air outbreak over warmocean are analyzed to study every stage of the convective processes,such as cloud street,convective cell as well as their transformation.According to the theory the wavenumbercompositions for cloud street and convective cell are calculated,respectively,on the basis of theatmospheric conditions at every stage.The distributions of vertical motions,convergent band anddisturbed interface are obtained and compared with the cloud patterns in the convective processes.Thus the study seems to offer a likely explanation for the origin of large vortices in CBL.  相似文献

Air/sea flux variability on horizontal scales from 50 m to several km results, in part, from the presence of coherent convective structures within the atmospheric boundary layer. The horizontal distribution of fluxes within these convective updrafts and downdrafts is, therefore, central to studies of air/sea interaction and remote sensing of sea surface wind and wave fields. This study derives these flux patterns from observations of the Marine Atmospheric Surface Layer (MASL).Research aircraft flights through the MASL provide an optimal means for sampling large numbers of the above-mentioned coherent structures. The NCAR Electra flew numerous legs through the MASL at a height of 50 m during the 1987 stratocumulus phase of Project FIRE (First ISSCP (International Satellite Cloud Climatology Program) Regional Experiment).In situ measurements from these legs serve as the dataset for this paper. The data are processed in such a way as to retain only the turbulence fluctuations. Conditional sampling, based on the vertical velocity field, results in the isolation of convective updrafts and downdrafts. Compositing of the data for these two classes of convective drafts results in horizontal planviews of the vertical fluxes of buoyancy, absolute humidity, along-meanwind component of momentum, and vertical velocity. To ensure dynamical similarity, these horizontal planviews are oriented in a coordinate system aligned with the mean wind.  相似文献

We discuss the nonlinear transfers possible in a quasigeostrophic fluid with a basic stratification taken from oceanic data. The energy and enstrophy conservation laws imply a cascade of energy to larger total scale (including both the horizontal scale, defined as wavelength/2π, and the deformation radius of the vertical mode). The triplet interactions among components with various horizontal scales and vertical structures, represented by the vertical mode numbers, are considered in detail for exchanges involving the barotropic and first three baroclinic modes. The initial transfer rates from one component into the other two are estimated and the most rapid transfers described as a function of the initial scale and mode number. These results suggest that barotropic motions will cascade to larger-scale barotropic motions, first baroclinic small-scale motions will transfer to first baroclinic larger scales, and first baroclinic large-scale motions will cascade to barotropic and first baroclinic motions at the deformation scale. Second and third mode motions prefer to transfer energy into small-scale (second or third mode deformation radius) first and third baroclinic mode motions.We also show the relationship of these triplet interactions to Rossby wave instabilities and resonant triads. For the latter motions, the weakness of the nonlinearity adds additional constraints which impty that the motions will tend to become zonal.  相似文献

Airplane measurements of the stably stratified boundary layer obtained during the Severe Environmental Storms and Mesoscale Experiment (SESAME) over rolling terrain in south-central Oklahoma indicate that considerable horizontal variability exists in the flow on scales of several kilometers. Much of this wave-like structure appears to be tied to the terrain. The criteria for existence of stationary gravity waves indicate that these waves can exist under the observed conditions. The spectrum of terrain variations also supports the existence of these waves. Observed spectra of the vertical velocity have two peaks: one at wavelengths of several kilometers, which is due to waves and the other at wavelengths of about 100 m, which is due to turbulence. The variance at several kilometers wavelength increases somewhat with height at least up to about 800 m, but the variance contributed by turbulence decreases rapidly with height.The National Center for Atmospheric Research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献
