云南丽江苦橄岩Re-Os同位素地球化学初步研究   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
报导了云南丽江地区大具和仕满剖面12个苦橄岩和6个玄武岩的Re,Os含量和Os同位素组成。苦橄岩和玄武岩具有明显不同的Re-Os体系的特征。苦橄岩具有高的Os元素丰度[(1.5~3)×10-9]和低的Re元素丰度(<0.05×10-9);共生的玄武岩具有低的Os元素丰度(<0.5×10-9)和相对高的Re元素丰度(<0.8×10-9);苦橄岩具有低放射成因的 187Os/188Os 比值(0.123 3~0.126 6),而玄武岩具有高放射成因的187Os/188Os比值(0.133 8~0.157 7)。苦橄岩的Re-Os同位素特征与越南西北部二叠—三叠纪科马提岩具有低放射成因Os同位素特征相似,而玄武岩的Re-Os同位素特征与峨眉山大火成岩省(LIP)其他地区玄武岩的高放射成因的Os同位素特征相似。苦橄岩的Re-Os同位素特征表明,形成峨眉山LIP的地幔柱可能来自对流上地幔而不是深部的核-幔界面。换言之,峨眉山LIP的形成受控于岩石圈地幔过程而不是地幔柱过程。  相似文献

天宇岩浆铜镍硫化物矿床的矿体由浸染状矿体和块状矿体组成。采用同位素稀释Triton-plus测定了浸染状矿石和块状矿石的磁黄铁矿Re-Os同位素比值。结果表明:浸染状矿石w(Re)为11.82×10~(-9)~45.28×10~(-9),w(Os)为0.944×10~(-9)~8.528×10~(-9),187Os/188Os初始比值为0.885~2.332,γOs为607~1763;块状矿石w(Re)为49.38×10~(-9)~315.10×10~(-9),w(Os)为0.191×10~(-9)~42.420×10~(-9),187Os/188Os初始比值为0.654~3.322,γOs为423~2555。Re、Os含量、同位素组成和特征值表明,该矿床物质为壳-幔混合来源,块状矿石可能比浸染状矿石经历了更强的地壳物质混染。浸染状矿体发育透闪石化、蛇纹石化、绿泥石化蚀变,表明存在岩浆期后热液活动,但块状矿体热液蚀变不明显,块状矿石的Re-Os同位素特征可能是与地壳岩石直接作用的结果。地壳混染作用发生在深部岩浆房,同时也发生在岩浆侵位及再次迁移过程中,这些过程造成块状矿体与浸染状矿体不同的同位素特征。  相似文献

本文报道了汉诺坝新生代碱性玄武岩中地幔橄榄岩包体的主量、微量元素和Re-Os同位素。14个尖晶石橄榄岩Re、Os含量分别为0.022~0.193ng/g和1.237~4.304ng/g,^187Os/^188Os比值为0.1183~0.1244,与^187Os/^188Os比值相关性不好,但与熔体亏损指标如重稀土元素Yb的含量、全岩Al2O3的百分含量有很好的线性关系,可能反映了地幔熔融后的Re或/和Os的活动。全岩Al2O3、CaO、TiO2含量均与MgO有很好的负相关性,全岩原始地幔标准化REE丰度模式呈现了LREE亏损,表明该区橄榄岩包体是由软流圈地幔经过部分熔融,亏损了玄武质组分后形成的。由Os同位素代理等时线得到该区陆下岩石圈地幔的形成年龄为1.7~2.0Ga,表明尖晶石相橄榄岩所代表的岩石圈地幔是中元古代的陆下岩石圈地幔减薄后的残留体。  相似文献

对华北山东地区不同构造单元中生代白垩纪基性-中基性岩浆岩进行了系统的Re-Os同位素研究.侵入岩样品采自鲁西济南岩体、鲁中沂南岩体和胶东的观水岩墙群, 火山岩样品采自鲁西蒙阴、费县、方城青山群和鲁中安丘青山群.所有样品均以低Re(0.076×10-9~0.711×10-9)和Os(0.006×10-9~1.030×10-9)含量以及高放射成因Os同位素比值为特征, 其相应的初始187Os/188Os比值和γOs(t)值分别为0.131 6~0.529 1和4.30~319.00(安丘粗面安山岩分别高达1.463和1 060.000), 并具有较大变化范围(0.125~2.090 Ga)的Os同位素模式年龄.在Os-Nd和Os-Sr同位素关系图上, 这些样品分布于典型的岩石圈地幔与地壳端元组成之间, 显示壳-幔源岩浆混合特征.然而, 除1件观水岩体(MGS0610)和费县玄武岩之外, 各地质单元样品之间或所有的中生代岩浆岩作为整体, 样品的γOs(t)与(La/Ta)N和(Th/Nb)N比值间缺乏明显的相关关系, 说明样品的混源Os同位素并非来自岩浆作用过程中的地壳围岩混染.区内基性岩浆岩Os同位素模式年龄TMA明显小于古生代地幔橄榄岩包体的Re亏损模式年龄(TRD), 可能为地幔条件下源岩与再循环地壳物质发生交代作用后Re/Os比值升高所致.蒙阴高镁安山岩和沂南闪长岩在Yb-Re/Yb图解中大致位于中生代辉石岩包体与地壳端元之间, 也指示了下地壳拆沉后产生的熔体与地幔岩石可能发生了交代作用.蒙阴安山岩MMY-12(SiO2=56.4%)具有古老壳源特征的Os同位素模式年龄(2.090 Ga)、高Mg#(64.6)和高Os含量(0.089×10-9), 为这一解释提供了有力的佐证.   相似文献

从浙东、闽东南的早白垩世“双峰式火山岩”和“复合岩体”中选择了有代表性的玄武岩和角闪辉长岩,分离出钛-磁铁矿,进行Re—Os同位素分析。角闪辉长岩的γos(130Ma)为-83.7~ -47.1,其(^187 Os/^188 Os)。过低,为0.0667和0.0205。这低得不合理的(^187 Os/^188 Os)i表明成岩之后Re-Os体系可能受到扰动,某些地质过程导致外加Re的进入,使岩石的^187 Re/^188 Os比值偏高、(^187 Os/^188 Os);及γOs(t)值偏低。玄武岩的γOs(130Ma)=21.4—267.8,其(^187 Os/^188 Os)。为0.1531~0.4639。Re—Os、Sm—Nd同位素及微量元素地球化学研究表明,早白垩世玄武岩浆不是来自富集地幔,而是来自亏损的地幔源区,在其演化过程中经受了地壳岩石和熔体的混染。晚中生代时期,东南沿海“大陆弧”下的地幔可能不是富集的岩石圈地幔,具有亏损特性,因而是软流圈地幔。  相似文献

西藏北部班公湖MOR型蛇绿岩主要由角砾状的地幔橄榄岩和玄武岩组成,其中地幔橄榄岩主要是低Cr#尖晶石相含单斜辉石(Cpx)方辉橄榄岩和少量不含Cpx的方辉橄榄岩,玄武岩具有MORB地球化学特点。岩石地球化学特征和二元混合模拟计算表明,含Cpx方辉橄榄岩是由较为亏损的方辉橄榄岩与玄武质熔体发生反应再富集形成的,玄武质熔体和方辉橄榄岩的混合比例为1∶9至1∶4。9个含Cpx方辉橄榄岩样品(含5个重复测试样)的Re和Os含量分别为0.19×10-9~1.49×10-9和2.91×10-9~5.40×10-9,187Re/188Os变化范围为0.169±0.009(2σ)~1.833±0.183(2σ),187Os/188Os变化范围相对较小,介于0.121 13±0.000 44~0.128 53±0.000 36(2σ)之间。含Cpx方辉橄榄岩的Re-Os参考等时线年龄为254±28 Ma。由于不同比例熔体的加入造成橄榄岩具有不同的Re/Os比值,因而不同含Cpx方辉橄榄岩样品具有不同187Os/188Os比值。样品的Re含量与烧失量中的H2O没有相关性,说明蛇纹石化对样品Re-Os体系的影响可以忽略,Re-Os同位素体系在低温地质作用下能够保持相对封闭。参考等时线年龄可能代表亏损方辉橄榄岩与玄武质熔体发生反应的时间,即含Cpx方辉橄榄岩的形成年龄,它表明在该时期特提斯洋经历了一次构造热事件。这一构造岩浆热事件的时间与早期定义的班公湖-怒江特提斯洋的裂解时间晚二叠世至早三叠世较为一致,推测本文MOR型蛇绿岩地幔橄榄岩的Re-Os同位素年龄可能代表班公湖-怒江特提斯洋开始裂解的时间。  相似文献

Re-Os同位素体系已成为金属矿床定年和示踪的重要手段之一。文章在简述Re-Os同位素体系基本原理基础上,综述了国内外的最新研究成果,认为Re-Os同位素测试对象不再局限于辉钼矿和铜镍硫化物矿石,黄铁矿、毒砂、磁黄铁矿、镍黄铁矿、闪锌矿等也常作为测试对象用于金矿床、铅锌矿床、沉积喷流型钴(金)等矿床的定年。地壳岩石与原始地幔相比,具有较高的187 Os/188 Os比值、γOs值以及Re/Os比值,因此,硫化物或矿石的Re-Os同位素组成和普通Os—Re/Os比值图解可以揭示斑岩矿床、金矿、铅锌矿以及铜镍硫化物矿的成矿物质来源。辉钼矿则可以通过Re含量来示踪成矿物质来源。Re-Os同位素也可与其他同位素结合(如187 Os/188 Os-87Sr/86Sr)共同判明不同端元组分对成矿的贡献。  相似文献

苏皖地区发育的新生代玄武岩中富含地幔橄榄岩捕虏体,测定了25个橄榄岩全岩的锇同位素组成。结果表明大部分样品呈亏损特征,187Os/188Os=0.119~0.129.Os同位素比值与主量成分之间有显著的相关性.采用187Os/188Os-Al2O3代用等时线方法,由截距得到初始值(187Os/188Os)0=0.109,在对流地幔的187Os/188Os比值演化线上获得模式年龄t=2.5(±0.1)Ga,为晚太古-早元古代。用样品组中最低的锇同位素组成,即187Os/188Os=0.119,计算Re亏损模式年龄,t=1.2Ga,为中元古代。表明苏皖地区新生代玄武岩中的地幔橄榄岩捕虏体具有古老的形成年龄,它们是经过显生宙减薄作用后的残余地幔的碎片。大陆岩石圈地幔的古老形成年龄与上覆地壳克拉通的古老稳定年龄相耦合。  相似文献

峨眉山大火成岩省(ELIP)主要由玄武岩、玄武质火山碎屑岩及少量的苦橄岩(包括越南的科马提岩)、长英质岩石以及层状岩体和岩墙组成,其物质来源直接关系到其成因是否与地幔柱活动有关。Re-Os同位素体系是地核、地幔和地壳物质的最佳示踪剂。前人对ELIP内的Re-Os同位素研究表明,低Ti玄武岩的Os含量为0.006&#215;10^-9-0.40010^-9,^187Os/^188Os初始值为0.1371~1.403,并提出其与地幔柱活动有关;而高Ti玄武岩的Os含量为0.00410^-9~0.56010^-9,^187Os/^188Os初始值为0.1271~5.19,认为起源于大陆岩石圈地幔或地幔柱上升过程中受到大量岩石圈地幔“混染”(xu JF et al.,2007);科马提岩的0s含量为1.2410^-9~7.0010^-9,^187Os/^188Os初始值为0.1251~0.1261,苦橄岩的Os含量为0.3210^-9~2.32910^-9,^187Os/^188Os初始值为0.1233~0.1266,指示苦橄岩和科马提岩均来自亏损地幔源区(Hanski et al.,2004;陈雷等,2007)。本文利用Os含量最低、^187Os/^188Os最高的高Ti玄武岩作为地壳端员,用铁质陨石、原始上地幔(PUM)和亏损地幔(DMM)作为地核和各种地幔端员,分别做二元混合计算,结果显示绝大多数玄武岩和所有苦橄岩及科马提岩均落在地壳和DMM混合曲线附近,并且邻区特提斯洋地幔岩与DMM具有相近的Os含量和^187Os/^188Os组成,据此推测峨眉山火成岩的形成与特提斯洋的活动有关,主要受控于地壳和亏损地幔的相互作用。  相似文献

通过大量数据统计,表明较高比例的辉钼矿中存在普通锇。普通锇可能以类质同像形式存在于辉钼矿样品中,理论上辉钼矿中可能含有较高含量普通锇。辉钼矿样品含有较高含量普通锇可能对Re-Os定年结果产生很大影响,从原理上并结合实例证实了普通锇含量对辉钼矿Re-Os年龄影响程度。对于一般辉钼矿样品来讲,如果187Os总量(放射成因187Os与非放射成因187Os之和)与普通锇比值小于20,需要考虑普通锇对Re-Os模式年龄的影响,并提出了对于含有普通锇辉钼矿模式年龄的计算方法。先做出187Os/188Os-187Re/188Os等时线,求得初始187Os/188Os值,再根据初始187Os/188Os值和单个样品的普Os含量求得非放射成因的普Os中187Os的量。最后根据Re含量以及放射成因187Os含量得到模式年龄。  相似文献

The nature of the source of continental flood basalts (CFB) is a highly debated topic. Proposed mantle sources for CFBs, including both high- and low-Ti basalts, include subcontinental lithospheric mantle (SCLM), asthenospheric mantle, and deep, plume-related mantle. Re-Os isotope systematics can offer important constraints on the sources of both ocean island basalts (OIB) and CFB, and may be applied to distinguish different possible melt sources. This paper reports the first Re-Os isotope data for the Late Permian Emeishan large igneous province (LIP) in Southwest China. Twenty one CFB samples including both low- and high-Ti basalts from five representative sites within the Emeishan LIP have been analyzed for Os, Nd, and Pb isotopic compositions. The obtained Os data demonstrate that crustal assimilation affected Os isotopic compositions of some Emeishan basalt samples with low Os concentrations but not all of the samples, and the Emeishan basalts with high Os contents likely experienced the least crustal contamination. The low and high-Ti basalts yield distinct Os signatures in terms of 187Os/188Os and Os content. The low-Ti basalt with the highest Os concentration (400 ppt) has a radiogenic Os isotopic composition (γOs(t), +6.5), similar to that of plume-derived OIB. Because the Os isotopic composition of basalts with relatively high Os concentrations (typically >50 ppt) likely represents that of their mantle source, this result implies a plume-derived origin for the low-Ti basalts. On the other hand, the high-Ti basalts with high Os concentration (over 50 ppt) have unradiogenic Os isotopic signatures (γOs(t) values range from −0.8 to −1.4), suggesting that a subcontinental lithosphere mantle (SCLM) component most likely contributed to the generation of these magmas. Combining Pb and Nd isotopic tracers with the Os data, we demonstrate that the low-Ti basaltic magmas in the Emeishan CFB were mainly sourced from a mantle plume reservoir, whereas the high-Ti basaltic magmas were most likely derived from a SCLM reservoir or were contaminated by a significant amount of lithospheric mantle material during plume-related magma ascent through the SCLM.  相似文献

西昆仑阿巴列克铜铅矿床黄铜矿Re-Os定年及地质意义   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2  
除了传统的测试Rb-Sr、Sm-Nd、U-Th-Pb、K-Ar或Ar-Ar等方法来讨论碳酸盐岩层控型铅锌矿的成矿年龄外,利用硫化物矿物Re-Os分析成矿过程,在矿床成矿系统上也是十分重要而有效的工具.从新疆西昆仑阿巴列克铜铅矿床的主矿体中,选取7个黄铜矿和1件黄铁矿样品,对其进行了Re-Os定年,结果表明它们分别含有626×10-9~14533×10-9 Re和0.026×10-9 ~0.36×10-9Os,给出海西期的331.3±5.2Ma等时线年龄.样品的高Re/Os比值、低含量普通Os和高放射成因Os的组成特性支持这组黄铜矿样品为表壳构造成因.构造演化历史表明,塔里木地块西南缘在晚古生代属于被动大陆边缘,赋矿地层霍什拉甫组属于台地相碳酸盐岩-碎屑岩建造,地层时代与上述等时年龄几乎相近.本次工作提供了一个新的证据,支持阿巴列克矿床在海西期经历了同生成矿作用,矿床类型主要为沉积层控型,成矿物质主要来源于地层,矿化发生在上泥盆统与下石炭统的结合部位,岩性以砂岩与碳酸盐岩组合为主,具有特定的层位控制特点.从中可以看出,碳酸盐岩层控型铅锌铜矿床成因具有一定的复杂性,具有深入研究的广阔空间.  相似文献

The Rhön area as part of the Central European Volcanic Province (CEVP) hosts an unusual suite of Tertiary 24-Ma old hornblende-bearing alkaline basalts that provide insights into melting and fractionation processes within the lithospheric mantle. These chemically primitive to slightly evolved and isotopically (Sr, Nd, Pb) depleted basalts have slightly lower Hf isotopic compositions than respective other CEVP basalts and Os isotope compositions more radiogenic than commonly observed for continental intraplate alkaline basalts. These highly radiogenic initial 187Os/188Os ratios (0.268–0.892) together with their respective Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic compositions are unlikely to result from crustal contamination alone, although a lack of Os data for lower crustal rocks from the area and limited data for CEVP basalts or mantle xenoliths preclude a detailed evaluation. Similarly, melting of the same metasomatized subcontinental lithospheric mantle as inferred for other CEVP basalts alone is also unlikely, based on only moderately radiogenic Os isotope compositions obtained for upper mantle xenoliths from elsewhere in the province. Another explanation for the combined Nd, Sr and Os isotope data is that the lavas gained their highly radiogenic Os isotope composition through a mantle “hybridization”, metasomatism process. This model involves a mafic lithospheric component, such as an intrusion of a sublithospheric primary alkaline melt or a melt derived from subducted oceanic material, sometime in the past into the lithospheric mantle where it metasomatized the ambient mantle. Later at 24 Ma, thermal perturbations during rifting forced the isotopically evolved parts of the mantle together with the peridotitic ambient mantle to melt. This yielded a package of melts with highly correlated Re/Os ratios and radiogenic Os isotope compositions. Subsequent movement through the crust may have further altered the Os isotope composition although this effect is probably minor for the majority of the samples based on radiogenic Nd and unradiogenic Sr isotope composition of the lavas. If the radiogenic Os isotope composition can be explained by a mantle-hybridization and metasomatism model, the isotopic compositions of the hornblende basalts can be satisfied by ca. 5–25% addition of the mafic lithospheric component to an asthenospheric alkaline magma. Although a lack of isotope data for all required endmembers make this model somewhat speculative, the results show that the Re–Os isotope system in continental basalts is able to distinguish between crustal contamination and derivation of continental alkaline lavas from isotopically evolved peridotitic lithosphere that was contaminated by mafic material in the past and later remelted during rifting. The Hf isotopic compositions are slightly less radiogenic than in other alkaline basalts from the province and indicate the derivation of the lavas from low Lu–Hf parts of the lithospheric mantle. The new Os and Hf isotope data constrain a new light of the nature of such metasomatizing agents, at least for these particular rocks, which represent within the particular volcanic complex the first product of the volcanism.  相似文献

The Cenozoic basalts with OIB-affinity in northern marginal region of the North China Craton are thought to experience minor even no crustal contamination during the magma evolution. The whole-rock Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopes are attributed to a two-component mixing between depleted and enriched mantle sources, while the major element variations are controlled by the fractional crystallization of olivine and clinopyroxene. However, in this study, the new Os isotopic data proposes an opposite model for the Cenozoic basalts in northern marginal region of the North China Craton. In this model, the Jining basalts were contaminated by the Archean mafic rocks during the magma storage and ascent. The crustal contamination process is supported by (1) the highly radiogenic Os isotopic compositions, and (2) the positive correlation between 187Os/188Os and 1/Os of the Jining basalts. By modeling the Os isotopic composition of the basalts, an incorporation of < 10% mafic granulites/amphibolites to the parental magma can successfully explain the initial values of highly radiogenic Os. In contrast, the unradiogenic and uniform Os isotopic compositions of the Chifeng basalts suggest negligible crustal contamination. Os isotopic data acts as an indicator of crustal contamination during magma evolution, providing us a novel insight into the evolution of the intra-continental OIB-like basalts worldwide.©2021 China Geology Editorial Office.  相似文献

测定了辽宁复县奥陶纪金伯利岩和河北汉诺坝与山东栖霞第三纪碱性玄武岩中产出的地幔包体的Re Os同位素组成。金伯利岩中地幔包体的Re贫化Os同位素模式年龄 (TRD)为 2 .5~ 2 .8Ga ,从Re Os同位素定年角度证明了华北克拉通确实存在太古宙岩石圈地幔。对汉诺坝二辉橄榄岩包体获得了 (1.9± 0 .18)Ga的Re Os同位素等时线年龄 ,表明现今保存在那里的地幔主要是古元古代时形成的。汉诺坝地区出露有大量新太古代岩石 ,表明曾存在太古宙地幔。由于缺乏太古宙年龄 ,说明由汉诺坝所代表的克拉通中部曾存在的太古宙地幔在古元古代时已被减薄 ,并被 1.9Ga的新生岩石圈地幔置换。该事件与华北克拉通中部广泛的古元古代碰撞造山过程导致的麻粒岩相变质作用的时代相同 ,说明有关的岩石圈置换作用可能主要与拆沉作用有关。栖霞地幔包体具有与现代对流地幔相同的Os同位素组成 ,且Os同位素组成与Re/Os比值没有明显相关性 ,表明年龄很新。结合其它地质地球化学证据 ,说明克拉通东部的太古宙岩石圈地幔的置换作用主要发生在中生代 ,且可能与三叠纪华北和扬子陆块的陆陆碰撞造山导致的岩石圈地幔和下地壳的拆沉作用有关。本研究表明华北克拉通岩石圈地幔置换作用在时空上的分布是十分不均一的。 2 .5~ 2 .8Ga与 1.9Ga不仅?  相似文献

Re-Os同位素体系是理解月球强亲铁元素的分布规律和示踪月球的后期增生历史的重要手段。目前人们对月球物质Re-Os同位素成分的了解还是十分有限的,已有的Re-Os同位素数据显示一些能代表月幔成分特征的月海玄武岩具有很低的Re和Os的浓度,以及类似于球粒陨石的187Os/188Os成分特征,而月球火山玻璃和月壤等表现出相对高的Re-Os丰度和相对富放射成因Re-Os同位素成分。一般认为月球月幔的Re、0s和其他强亲铁元素相对球粒陨石是非常亏损的,而地球地幔则具有相对较高的强亲铁元素丰度(0.008倍CI球粒陨石的丰度)。新的Re-Os同位素结果证明月幔确实是亏损的,但是月球和地球在太阳系演化的较晚时期都有外来的球粒陨石物质的大量加入,即后期增生(late accretion)过程,导致了月球和地球上部物质(如月球火山玻璃、月壤等)相对地富集Os同位素和强亲铁元素,这些外来物质的后期增生可能是长期和持续的,增生过程主要发生在3.9~4.4Ga。但目前仍不清楚后期增生的陨石物质是被逐渐加入的,还是在一个相对较短的时期大量加入的,因此尚需对更多的月球物质做进一步的Re-Os同位素和强亲铁元素成分的研究。  相似文献

Analysis of 12 worldwide oil samples show that Re and Os abundances are positively correlated with the asphaltene content of oil. Light oils with <1% asphaltene content have basically no measurable Re or Os. Within oil, Re and Os are present dominantly in the asphaltene fraction (>83%), with <14% Re and Os found in the maltene fraction, this distribution is similar to other trace metals such as V and Mo. Rhenium and Os could be present in oil as metalloporphyrin complexes, but given their abundance in the asphaltene component they are also likely bound by heteroatomic ligands. The 187Re/188Os and 187Os/188Os values in asphaltene calculated at the estimated time of oil generation (Osi) are similar to those of the whole oil, as expected from the elemental results. This suggests that the asphaltene fraction can be used to approximate the Re-Os isotopic compositions of the whole oil. Os isotopic compositions in oils show a considerable range, from 187Os/188Os of 1.9-6.0, and they correlate positively with the age of the proposed source rock. Osmium isotopic compositions, and Re and Os concentrations have been examined in one komatiite unit and two komatiitic basalt units at Dundonald Beach, part of the 2.7 Ga Kidd-Munro volcanic assemblage in the Abitibi greenstone belt, Ontario, Canada. The komatiitic rocks in this locality record at least three episodes of alteration of Re-Os elemental and isotope systematics. First, an average of 40% and as much as 75% Re may have been lost due to shallow degassing during eruption and/or hydrothermal leaching during or immediately after emplacement. Second, the Re-Os isotope systematics of whole rock samples with 187Re/188Os ratios >1 were reset at ∼2.5 Ga, possibly due to a regional metamorphic event. Third, there is evidence for relatively recent gain and loss of Re in some rocks.Despite the open-system behavior, some aspects of the Re-Os systematics of these rocks can be deciphered. The bulk distribution coefficient for Os (DOssolid/liquid) for the Dundonald rocks is ∼3 ± 1 and is well within the estimated D values obtained for komatiites from the nearby Alexo area and stratigraphically-equivalent komatiites from Munro Township. This suggests that Os was moderately compatible during crystal-liquid fractionation of the magmas parental to the Kidd-Munro komatiitic rocks. Whole-rock samples and chromite separates with low 187Re/188Os ratios (<1) yield a precise chondritic average initial 187Os/188Os ratio of 0.1083 ± 0.0006 (γOs = 0.0 ± 0.6) for their well-constrained ∼2715 Ma crystallization age. The chondritic initial Os isotopic composition of the mantle source for the Dundonald rocks is consistent with that determined for komatiites in the Alexo area and in Munro Township, suggesting that the mantle source region for the Kidd-Munro volcanic assemblage had evolved with a long-term chondritic Re/Os before eruption. The chondritic initial Os isotopic composition of the Kidd-Munro komatiites is indistinguishable from that of the projected contemporaneous convective upper mantle. The uniform chondritic Os isotopic composition of the Kidd-Munro komatiites contrasts with the typical large-scale Os isotopic heterogeneity in the mantle sources for ca. 89 Ma komatiites from the Gorgona Island, arc-related rocks and present-day ocean island basalts. This suggests that the Kidd-Munro komatiites sampled a late-Archean mantle source region that was significantly more homogeneous with respect to Re/Os relative to most modern mantle-derived rocks.  相似文献

The mechanism and process of lithospheric thinning beneath the North China Craton (NCC) are still debated. A key criterion in distinguishing among the proposed mechanisms is whether associated continental basalts were derived from the thinning lithospheric mantle or upwelling asthenosphere. Herein, we investigate the possible mechanisms of lithospheric thinning based on a systematic Re–Os isotopic study of Mesozoic to Cenozoic basalts from the NCC. Our whole-rock Re–Os isotopic results indicate that the Mesozoic basalts generally have high Re and Os concentrations that vary widely from 97.2 to 839.4 ppt and 74.4 to 519.6 ppt, respectively. They have high initial 187Os/188Os ratios ranging from 0.1513 to 0.3805, with corresponding variable γOs(t) values (+20 to +202). In contrast, the Re–Os concentrations and radiogenic Os isotope compositions of the Cenozoic basalts are typically lower than those of the Mesozoic basalts. The lowest initial 187Os/188Os ratios of the Cenozoic basalts are 0.1465 and 0.1479, with corresponding γOs(t) values of +15 and +16, which are within the range of ocean island basalts. These new Re–Os isotopic results, combined with the findings of previous studies, indicate that the Mesozoic basalts were a hybrid product of the melting of pyroxenite and peridotite in ancient lithospheric mantle beneath the NCC. The Cenozoic basalts were derived mainly from upwelling asthenosphere mixed with small amounts of lithospheric materials. The marked differences in geochemistry between the Mesozoic and Cenozoic basalts suggest a greatly reduced involvement of lithospheric mantle as the magma source from the Mesozoic to the Cenozoic. The subsequent lithospheric thinning of the NCC and replacement by upwelling asthenospheric mantle resulted in a change to asthenosphere-derived Cenozoic basalts.  相似文献
