Pan-African Magmatism, and Sedimentation in the NW Himalaya   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Correlation of early Palaeozoic, Pan-African (500 ± 50 Ma) granites that intruded the Chail, Salkhala, Haimanta Formations in the Lesser Himalaya, Zanskar crystallines, and Lower Taglang La of Tso-Morari crystallines in the northwestern Himalaya, is based on the field relationship, tectonic setting, mineralogical, and geochemical characteristics, and isotope dating of the granites. These granite plutons exhibit identical petrographical, and geochemical character. The mineralogical composition of the granites is quite similar, consisting of quartz, K-feldspar, plagioclase feldspar, biotite, muscovite, garnet, tourmaline, ± cordierite, andalusite, and sillimanite fibrolite. The granite which are massive, and inequigranular in the core of the plutons, show strongly foliated character indicating development of ductile shear zone at the margins. These are peraluminous S-type granites having high A/CNK value (> 1). Presence of normative corundum, rounded shape of zircon, and high initial Sr ratio suggest crustal source of the granites. Mantle normalized spider-diagram exhibits similar characters for all these granitoids. The intrusion of the Pan-African granites mark an abrupt end of the sedimentation that continued virtually uninterrupted from Palaeoproterozoic. The sudden break in sedimentation towards the terminal phases of the Lower Cambrian has been observed in almost all parts in Lesser as well as the Tethys Himalaya. Occurrences of large number of plutons along different tectonic belts of northwestern Himalaya are indicative of widespread tectono-thermal event during early Palaeozoic (500 ± 50 Ma). The bracketing of the two features like, the break in sedimentation during post-Late Cambrian, and the intrusion of granites around 500 ± 50 Ma, is considered to be the result of a strong diastrophic orogenic event correlatable to the late phases of the Pan-African Orogeny in Africa.  相似文献

The Lander Rock Beds form the local basement of the Reynolds Range in the Arunta Inlier of central Australia. These dominantly quartzose and pelitic lithologies underwent low-grade ( c.   400  °C) regional metamorphism prior to contact metamorphism ( c.   2.5  kbar) around S-type megacrystic granitoids at 1820–1800  Ma. The Lander Rock Beds are overlain by metasediments of the Reynolds Range Group, which were subsequently intruded by granitoids at c. 1780  Ma. Regional metamorphism at 1590–1580  Ma produced grades varying from greenschist (400  °C at 4–5  kbar) to granulite (750–800  °C at 4–5  kbar) from north-west to south-east along the length of the Reynolds Range. Oxygen isotope ratios of the Lander Rock Beds were reset from 13.4±0.8 to as low as 6.7 adjacent to the contacts of the larger plutons, and to 10.3±1.1 around the smaller plutons. Biotite in all the major rock types found in the aureoles has δD values between −52 and −69, probably reflecting resetting by a cooling igneous+metamorphic fluid near the plutons. Sapphirine-bearing and other Mg- and Al-rich rock types have low δ18O values (4.0±0.7). The precursors to these rocks were probably low-temperature ( c. 200  °C) diagenetic–hydrothermal deposits of Mg-rich chlorite, analogous to those in Proterozoic stratiform precious metal and uranium deposits that form by the infiltration of basin brines or seawater. As in the overlying Reynolds Range Group, regional metamorphism involved little fluid–rock interaction and isotopic resetting.  相似文献

In the Central Iberian Zone (CIZ) of the Iberian Massif large volumes of granitoids were emplaced during the post-collisional stage of the Hercynian orogeny (syn- to post-D3, the last ductile deformation phase). Twelve granitic units and a quartz monzodiorite were selected for a U–Pb zircon and monazite geochronological study. They represent successive stages of the D3 event. The Ucanha-Vilar, Lamego, Sameiro and Refoios do Lima plutons are coeval (313±2 Ma, 319±4 Ma, 316±2 Ma and 314±2 Ma, respectively) and belong to the earliest stage. Later on the Braga massif was emplaced, its different units yielding the same age: 309±3 Ma for the Braga granite, 309±1 Ma for the Gonça granite and 311±5 Ma for a related quartz monzodiorite. The Braga massif is subcontemporaneous with the Agrela and Celeirós plutons (307±3.5 Ma and 306±2 Ma, respectively), in agreement with field data. The Briteiros granite is younger (300±1 Ma), followed by the emplacement of the Peneda–Gerês massif (Gerês, Paufito, Illa and Carris granites). The Gerês granite, emplaced at 296±2 Ma, seems to represent a first magmatic pulse immediately followed by the intrusion of the Paufito granite at 290±2.5 Ma. For the Carris granite a minimum emplacement age of 280±5 Ma was obtained. Based on these results the following chronology is proposed: (1) syn-D3 biotite granitoids, 313–319 Ma; (2) late-D3 biotite-dominant granitoids, 306–311 Ma; (3) late- to post-D3 granitoids, ca. 300 Ma; (4) post-D3 granitoids, 290–296 Ma. These chronological data indicate that successive granitic intrusions were emplaced in the CIZ during a short time span of about 30 Ma that corresponds to the latest stages of the Hercynian orogeny. A rapid and drastic change occurred at about 300 Ma, between a compressive ductile tectonic regime (D3, ca. 300–320 Ma) associated to calc-alkaline, monzonitic and aluminopotassic plutonism and a fragile phase of deformation (D4) which controlled the emplacement of the subalkaline ferro-potassic plutonism at 290–296 Ma.  相似文献

北喜马拉雅花岗岩位于特提斯喜马拉雅的中部,对其研究不仅有助于认识和理解碰撞造山过程中地壳物质的熔融行为和机制, 而且对探讨部分熔融作用与相关构造的关系也具有重要意义.通过对北喜马拉雅佩枯花岗岩开展系统的LA-MC-ICP-MS锆石U-Pb年代学和地球化学研究,结果表明佩枯花岗岩的结晶时间较长,从23.9 Ma持续到16.5 Ma,并记录了22.3±0.6 Ma和17.3±0.3 Ma两期深熔作用.全岩地球化学分析结果显示,佩枯花岗岩具有高含量的SiO2(71.87%~75.56%)、Al2O3(13.57%~15.49%)和K2O(3.34%~4.59 %),以及高的K2O/Na2O比值(1.02~1.39) 和A/CNK值(1.21~1.23),属于高钾钙碱性过铝质花岗岩.岩石强烈富集大离子亲石元素Rb和放射性生热元素Th、U,亏损Ba、Nb、Sr、Zr等元素;轻重稀土元素分馏较强((La/Yb)N=10.76~16.60),几乎无或弱的负Eu异常(δEu=0.76~0.97).样品的(87Sr/86Sr)i值和εNd(t)值变化范围分别为0.736 184~0.741 258和-14.6~-14.3,与大喜马拉雅变质沉积岩的Sr-Nd同位素组成一致,表明其源岩可能为大喜马拉雅变质沉积岩.样品(87Sr/86Sr)i值较低而Sr浓度较高,且随着Ba浓度的增加,Rb/Sr比值基本不变,与水致白云母部分熔融的特征和趋势一致,表明佩枯花岗岩是水致白云母部分熔融的产物,部分熔融作用可能与藏南拆离系的活动密切相关.   相似文献

The Velay dome (French Massif Central) offers a quasi-continuous section across an anatectic domain comprising low- to high-grade schists, gneisses and granites. Two main tectonometamorphic events, and their related generation of granitic material, were recognized in addition to a major Barrrovian tangential event (D2) attributed to intracontinental collision tectonics: (i) a medium- to low- P , high- T event (D3) which gave rise to migmatites and syntectonic monzonitic granites and granodiorites, and (ii) a widespread melting event (D4) which led to the generation of migmatities, the Velay granite and post-anatectic granites.
Thermobarometry on samples collected from both the metamorphic envelope and the granitic core distinguishes two distinct geotherms: (i) a first, associated with the D3 event, characterized by P > 5 kbar, T ≤ 750° C and water-present melting (biotite remains stable) which led to large-scale migmatization but minor amount of granites; (ii) a second, associated with the D4 event and characterized by vapour-absent melting ( P = 4–5 kbar, T = 760–850° C) which gave rise to the Velay granites and late-migmatitic granites. The temperature increase during the D4 event is attributed to the intrusion of hot mafic magmas within the crust.
The time-integrated features of the different granitic rocks in the Velay dome can be directly related to a H2O in the source region and illustrate the progressive dehydration of a middle to lower crustal segment over 60 Ma.  相似文献

在新疆西南天山科桑溶洞地区,新厘定出一套斜长角闪岩-花岗岩地质单元:侵入斜长角闪岩中的新元古代白云母花岗岩(片麻状构造)、以及侵入上述古老岩石单元的早奥陶世花岗岩(块状构造)。片麻状白云母花岗岩中锆石具有热液锆石边、岩浆锆石幔和碎屑锆石核(边-幔-核结构),剔除被热液锆石和碎屑锆石混染的SHRIMP测点,获得岩浆锆石幔的加权平均年龄752.3±5.1Ma(MSWD=0.95),代表岩浆的结晶年龄。块状花岗岩的锆石具有边-核结构,热液锆石边的U-Pb年龄(419.5±5.7Ma)明显偏低。剔除热液锆石和碎屑锆石,获得岩浆锆石的平均U-Pb年龄481.1±4.4Ma(MSWD=0.88),代表花岗岩的结晶年龄。早奥陶世早期,岩浆侵入新元古代片麻状白云母花岗岩中。在晚志留世或者更晚时期,两类花岗岩共同经受了变质热液改造,变质流体交代岩浆锆石,导致锆石溶蚀再生长。  相似文献

A Lower Ordovician age for the Oughterard Granite is established by Rb–Sr dating of magmatic white micas from pegmatites cutting two of the satellite bodies found 12–15 km west of the main granitic intrusions. These micas give a minimum age of c. 473 Ma for the emplacement of the satellite bodies, and for the completion of the D3 deformation in the Dalradian host rocks. The main granite intrusions are post-D4 in age, but some of the small outlying sheet-like intrusions are either deformed by D4 folds, or were present during this deformation and were responsible for the development of locally disharmonic D4 minor folds. The correlation of the smaller granite bodies with the main bodies of Oughterard Granite is supported by their similar field appearance, petrography and trace element geochemistry. In common with other late orogenic granites, such as the 470 Ma Aberdeen Granite in NE Scotland, the Oughterard Granite is thought to have been part of a discontinuous magmatic arc, which formed along the southern margin of the Dalradian outcrop in Connemara and in NE Scotland in the early Ordovician. Members of the Oughterard Granite suite were emplaced during the final stages of the Grampian orogeny, from post-D3 to post-D4, while the country rocks were still at an elevated temperature (>500°C) following the peak of the regional metamorphism. The new minimum age of intrusion of c. 473 Ma, together with existing radiometric data, confirms that emplacement of the metagabbro and gneiss complex in southern Connemara, followed by the D3 structural and metamorphic events, all took place during a period of less than 20 Ma. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The distribution of peraluminous granites in Tibet is treated on the basis of the tectonic zones in which they occur, their spatial and temporal distribution, the peak of magmatic activity and the volume of magma intruded. Magmatic activity, with the intrusion of peraluminous granites, was initiated during the Early Jurassic and culminated in the middle Miocene, especially between 20 and 10 Ma. Rock types include tourmaline, muscovite and two-mica granites. Magmatic activity in the Gangdise Belt migrated from the east to west and from the south to the north. Episodes of tectonic evolution for the lithosphere of the Qinghai–Xizang (Tibet) Plateau, deduced from peraluminous granite intrusion are: (1) Latest Triassic to Early Jurassic (208–157 Ma), representing the subduction phase of the Bangong Co–Nu Jiang oceanic zone; (2) Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous (157–97 Ma), representing the subduction and collision phases of the Bangong–Nu Jiang oceanic zone; (3) Late Cretaceous to early Paleocene (97–65 Ma), representing the subduction and initial collision phases of the Yarlung Zangbo oceanic zone ; (4) Paleocene to Eocene (65–40 Ma), representing the major collisional stage of the Yarlung Zangbo Oceanic zone and the formation of crust-derived granites; and (5) Oligocene to Recent, representing an intense intracontinental convergence phase.  相似文献

The Okiep Copper District, part of the 1.2–1.0 Ga high-grade terrane in western Namaqualand, is composed of a mid-Proterozoic supracrustal sequence and several pre- to post-orogenic intrusive suites affected by two high-grade events (M2a/M2b, M3) of Kibaran and one low-grade event (M4) of Pan-African age. Peak assemblages in quartz-bearing pelites are characterized either by garnet+cordierite coexisting with sillimanite/biotite, or by biotite+sillimanite±garnet; a difference controlled by bulk composition and variation in water activities (0.1–0.7) during dehydration melting. Maximum P–T conditions were reached during M2a coevally with the major deformational event (D2a) and are estimated at 750–820  °C and 5–6  kbar. A counterclockwise P–T  path is indicated by regionally occurring pseudomorphs of sillimanite after andalusite and by prograde reaction textures preserved as relics in M2a porphyroblasts. Two stages of retrograde metamorphism are distinguished: M2a garnet+cordierite-bearing assemblages were retrogressed to biotite+sillimanite+quartz (M2b) along discontinuous foliation planes and shear zones (D2b). Retrograde M3 corona assemblages formed at similar P–T  conditions (580–660  °C and 5.8±0.5  kbar) to the M2b assemblages but M3 crystallization postdates penetrative D2 deformation, intrusion of 1.06 Ga granitoids and formation of associated W–Mo deposits. It is concluded that: (a) Kibaran high-grade metamorphism in the Okiep Copper District is thermally punctuated and (b) reaction textures documenting apparent isobaric cooling of this low- P high- T  terrane must be interpreted with caution.  相似文献

Petrological and geochronological data of six representative samples of exotic blocks of amphibolite and associated tonalite-trondhjemite from the serpentinitic mélange of the Sierra del Convento (eastern Cuba) indicate counterclockwise P–T paths typical of material subducted in hot and young subduction zones. Peak conditions attained were ∼750 °C and 15 kbar, consistent with the generation of tonalitic partial melts observed in amphibolite. A tonalite boulder provides a U-Pb zircon crystallization age of 112.8 ± 1.1 Ma, and Ar/Ar amphibole dating yielded two groups of cooling ages of 106–97 Ma (interpreted as cooling of metamorphic/magmatic pargasite) and 87–83 Ma (interpreted as growth/cooling of retrograde overprints). These geochronological data, in combination with other published data, allow the following history of subduction and exhumation to be established in the region: (i) a stage of hot subduction 120–115 Ma, developed upon onset of subduction; (ii) relatively fast near-isobaric cooling (25 °C Myr−1) 115–107 Ma, after accretion of the blocks to the upper plate lithospheric mantle; (iii) slow syn-subduction cooling (4 °C Myr−1) and exhumation (0.7 km Myr−1) in the subduction channel 107–70 Ma; and (iv) fast syn-collision cooling (74 °C Myr−1) and exhumation (5 km Myr−1) 70–60 Ma.  相似文献

藏南错那洞穹隆位于喜马拉雅造山带东部,淡色花岗岩是其核部组成部分之一。对其中的弱定向二云母花岗岩和含石榴子石二云母花岗岩进行LA-ICP-MS锆石U-Pb定年,显示其结晶年龄分别为(20.6±0.3) Ma和(16.7±0.2) Ma,属于喜马拉雅中新世淡色花岗岩。错那洞含石榴子石二云母花岗岩和弱定向二云母花岗岩均具有富硅(w(SiO2)为71.6%~74.6%)、富铝(w(Al2O3)为14.5%~16.1%)、富钾(w(K2O)为4%~4.7%)及高铝饱和指数(A/CNK=1.16~1.22)的特征,属高钾钙碱性系列的强过铝质花岗岩,并且两类花岗岩都富集Rb、U、K、Pb,相对亏损Nb、Ta、Zr、Ti。但含石榴子石淡色花岗岩具有明显的Eu负异常(Eu/Eu*=0.29~0.46),而弱定向二云母花岗岩Eu的负异常相对较弱(Eu/Eu*=0.58~0.80)。弱定向二云母花岗岩的Rb/Sr值为2.4~3.5,Ba含量为(200~253)×10-6,TiO2含量相对较低,表明错那洞弱定向二云母花岗岩是在无水条件下由变泥质岩中的白云母脱水熔融而形成,并且弱定向二云母花岗岩的产生可能与藏南拆离系(STDS)启动造成的构造减压有关。含石榴子石二云母花岗岩的K/Rb、Zr/Hf、Nb/Ta、Y/Ho值呈现出非球粒陨石异常,稀土四分组效应和异常高的Rb/Sr值(18.6~22.2)表明错那洞含石榴子石二云母花岗岩是经过岩浆高度演化而形成的。高度演化的岩浆有利于W、Sn、Be等稀有金属成矿。错那洞含石榴子石二云母花岗岩与错那洞穹隆的W-Sn-Be矿具有相邻的空间位置,两者之间可能存在一定的成因联系;而错那洞弱定向二云母花岗岩与扎西康Pb-Zn矿床在时间上和空间上都具有一致性,两者之间很可能也存在一定的成因联系。  相似文献

Abstract The stability of quartz-chloritoid-staurolite-almandine-cordierite and aluminium silicates is used to constrain both metamorphic conditions and pressure-temperature trajectories for two localities within the 2700 Ma Archaean Yilgarn Block in Western Australia. Available experimental data are used to calculate thermodynamic data for a self-consistent set of equilibria between these minerals. A lower amphibolite facies locality from the margin of a lower strain area contains assemblages including quartz-chloritoid-staurolite-garnet-biotite with altered cordierite replacing chloritoid, quartz-staurolite-andalusite, and quartz-cordierite-andalusite-biotite. This locality was heated to 530–560°C in the andalusite field, at 4.2 kbar. A sample from a mid- to upper-amphibolite facies, highly strained locality contains relict staurolite enclosed by andalusite, in turn replaced by cordierite and muscovite with biotite and sillimanite in the matrix. The assemblage was heated isobarically from conditions near the maximum experienced by the lower grade locality of 560°C at 4.2 kbar to temperatures in excess of the andalusite-sillimanite transition but within the quartz plus muscovite stability field (600–650°C). The higher grade locality is close to a granitoid dome and sections based on gravity profiles reveal that this locality is underlain by granitoid at shallow depths. The higher grade metamorphism apparently reflects superposition of the thermal aureole on regional metamorphic conditions similar to those in the lower grade areas.  相似文献

通过对佳木斯地块南缘穆棱地区常兴村-新兴村剖面的研究,指出这里是“麻山群”和“黑龙江群”的结合部位,具有古大陆边缘性质。穆棱地区的“麻山群”为佳木斯地块南缘的陆壳基底,其南侧的“黑龙江群”为包括洋壳残片在内的增生-碰撞杂岩。对“麻山群”混合岩的SHRIMP锆石U-Pb定年结果表明:佳木斯地块存在中-新元古代的结晶基底,并遭受到~500Ma变质作用的影响。侵入“麻山群”杂岩的花岗岩的岩石学、地球化学研究表明,这些花岗岩具有S型花岗岩的特征;其SHRIMP锆石U-Pb分析表明其形成年龄为486Ma±3Ma,略晚于前人确定的“麻山群”杂岩约500Ma的麻粒岩相变质作用,为同碰撞或碰撞后花岗岩。这些资料进一步证明,该地区可能经历了晚泛非-早加里东期的碰撞造山作用。  相似文献

The Petermann Orogeny is a late Neoproterozoic to Cambrian ( c . 560–520  Ma) intracratonic event that affected the Musgrave Block and south-western Amadeus Basin in central Australia. In the Mann Ranges, within the central Musgrave Block, Mesoproterozoic granulite facies gneisses, granites and mafic dykes have been substantially reworked by deep crustal non-coaxial strain of late Neoproterozoic to early Cambrian age. Dolerite dykes have recrystallized to garnet granulite facies assemblages, associated with the development of a mylonitic fabric at P =12–13  kbar and T  =700–750 °C. Migmatization is restricted to discrete shear zones, which represent conduits for hydrous fluids during metamorphism. Peak metamorphism was followed by decompression to c . 7  kbar, reflecting exhumation of the terrane along the south-dipping Woodroffe Thrust. In scattered outcrops north of the Mann Ranges, peak metamorphism occurred at P =9–10  kbar and T  = c . 700 °C. The Woodroffe Thrust separates these deep crustal mylonites from granites that were metamorphosed during the Petermann Orogeny at P = c . 6–7  kbar and T  = c . 650 °C. The similarity in peak temperatures at different crustal levels implies an unusual thermal regime during this event. The existence of a relatively elevated geotherm corresponding with Th- and K-enriched granites that were in the mid-crust during the Petermann Orogeny suggests that radiogenic heat production may have substantially contributed to the thermal regime during metamorphism. This potentially has implications for the mechanisms by which intra-plate strain was localized during this event.  相似文献

桂林郑钼矿床位于江南隆起带与下扬子坳陷带之间的过渡带内,是皖南地区首次发现的大型钼矿床。本次工作对桂林郑钼矿床与成矿有关的花岗斑岩体进行了地质特征和岩相学观察、锆石LA-ICP-MS U-Pb定年和全岩地球化学分析。研究结果显示,桂林郑花岗斑岩的成岩年龄为127.6±1.5Ma,为早白垩世,对应于江南过渡带三阶段(149~137Ma、134~119Ma、116~110Ma)成岩成矿作用的第二阶段。桂林郑花岗斑岩富集K、Th、U等大离子亲石元素,具有低Sr高Yb特点,亏损Nb、Ta、Zr、Hf高场强元素,为高钾钙碱性-碱性的A1型花岗岩,岩浆源于中下地壳,上升过程中经历了显著的分离结晶作用。通过成岩年代与地球化学特征对比显示,桂林郑花岗斑岩体形成于陆内伸展环境,是该钼矿床的成矿岩体。  相似文献

Seven distinct phases of Variscan two-mica granite are recognized in the Guarda-Sabugal area. They intruded the Cambrian schist-metagraywacke complex, crystallized in the middle crust, and are syn- to late-D3 (309.2 ± 1.8 Ma), late-D3 (304–300 Ma) and late- to post-D3 (299 ± 3 Ma; ID-TIMS ages on zircon and monazite). Two of the granites, G2 and G5, are close in age and have similar Sr, Nd and O isotope characteristics but contrasting whole rock and mineral features and formed by sequential increasing degree of partial melting of a common metasedimentary protolith. During sequential melting Ti, total Fe, Mg, Ca, Zr, Zn, Sr, Ba and REE contents and (La/Yb)N increase and Si and Rb contents decrease, plagioclase becomes richer in anorthite and biotite and muscovite richer in Ti and Mg. Each of these granites evolved subsequently by fractional crystallization of quartz, K-feldspar, plagioclase, biotite and ilmenite, defining separate series G2–G3–G7 and G5–G6 containing late Sn-bearing differentiates. Two other granites G1 and G4 represent distinct pulses of magma with individual fractionation trends for major and trace elements and distinct (87Sr/86Sr)300, ?Nd300 and δ18O values.  相似文献

Bimodal metavolcanic rocks, granitic gneisses and metasediments are associated in the Frankenberg massif, Germany. These rocks are faulted against underlying very low-grade Palaeozoic sequences and adjacent metamorphic complexes of the Variscan basement. The granitic gneisses record an Rb–Sr whole-rock isochron age of 461±20  Ma that is taken as at least a minimum protolith age. The bimodal meta-igneous suites are interpreted to have formed during rifting of the Gondwana continental margin in the Cambro-Ordovician. The various metamorphic units have all experienced a common P–T  history. The peak-pressure stage is constrained to around 490–520  °C and 10–14  kbar (10–12  kbar being most realistic). The metamorphism proceeded along a clockwise P–T path towards conditions of around 580–610  °C and 7–8.5  kbar at the thermal peak followed by a final low-pressure overprint which spanned amphibolite facies to prehnite–actinolite facies temperatures. Owing to a secondary Rb–Sr whole-rock isochron age of 381±24  Ma, interpreted to date the retrograde stage, the whole metamorphic cycle in the Frankenberg massif is ascribed to the late Silurian–early Devonian high-pressure event widely recorded in the European Variscides. The antiformal complexes bordering the Frankenberg massif underwent a well-documented early Carboniferous metamorphism, suggesting that the Frankenberg massif constitutes a klippe which was overthrust towards the end of this second metamorphic cycle.  相似文献

Late Variscan granites intruded Brioverian (Upper Proterozoic) and Lower Paleozoic pelitic sequences to the north of the South Armorican shear zone. In the vicinity of the granites, Brioverian garnet micaschists contain pre/syn-S2 assemblages with garnet + staurolite and post-S2 assemblages with staurolite ± andalusite. Andalusite appeared pre/syn- and post-S2 in garnet-free micaschists. The garnets in the Brioverian micaschists are zoned with increasing Mg and decreasing Mn and Ca from core to inner rim. Only poor garnet zonations occur in Paleozoic hornfelses of enclaves in the Rostrenen granite. The results of a microstructurally controlled application of garnet–biotite geothermometers and garnet–plagioclase geobarometers are similar to P–T trends obtained by the Gibbs method of garnet zonation modelling in the system NCFMnMASH. The P–T paths of a pre/syn-S2 regional metamorphism are clockwise between 500–550°C/8 kbar and 700°C/5 kbar, followed by cooling decompression. They contrast with isobaric contact metamorphism between 500 and 700°C at 2.5–3 kbar in Paleozoic hornfelses. This points to a two-stage Variscan metamorphism with a pre-granitic pressure-dominated event in the Brioverian micaschists, followed by Late Variscan contact metamorphism, and suggests the existence of a pre-granitic tectonic boundary between the micaschists and overlying low-grade sequences.  相似文献

In the Shackleton Range of East Antarctica, garnet-bearing ultramafic rocks occur as lenses in supracrustal high-grade gneisses. In the presence of olivine, garnet is an unmistakable indicator of eclogite facies metamorphic conditions. The eclogite facies assemblages are only present in ultramafic rocks, particularly in pyroxenites, whereas other lithologies – including metabasites – lack such assemblages. We conclude that under high-temperature conditions, pyroxenites preserve high-pressure assemblages better than isofacial metabasites, provided the pressure is high enough to stabilize garnet–olivine assemblages (i.e. ≥18–20 kbar). The Shackleton Range ultramafic rocks experienced a clockwise P–T path and peak conditions of 800–850 °C and 23–25 kbar. These conditions correspond to ∼70 km depth of burial and a metamorphic gradient of 11–12 °C km−1 that is typical of a convergent plate-margin setting. The age of metamorphism is defined by two garnet–whole-rock Sm–Nd isochrons that give ages of 525 ± 5 and 520 ± 14 Ma corresponding to the time of the Pan-African orogeny. These results are evidence of a Pan-African suture zone within the northern Shackleton Range. This suture marks the site of a palaeo-subduction zone that likely continues to the Herbert Mountains, where ophiolitic rocks of Neoproterozoic age testify to an ocean basin that was closed during Pan-African collision. The garnet-bearing ultramafic rocks in the Shackleton Range are the first known example of eclogite facies metamorphism in Antarctica that is related to the collision of East and West Gondwana and the first example of Pan-African eclogite facies ultramafic rocks worldwide. Eclogites in the Lanterman Range of the Transantarctic Mountains formed during subduction of the palaeo-Pacific beneath the East Antarctic craton.  相似文献
