从Viljoen兄弟(1969)研究南非Barberton科马提岩以来,国外先后报导了多处科马提岩,主要分布在澳大利亚、加拿大、巴西、印度、芬兰、南非、津巴布韦、哥伦比亚和希腊等国。其中有影响的一项成果是Arndt和Nisbet在1982年编辑的《Komatiite》的专著。经过20余年的研究已确认,科马提岩是一种具有重要岩石学及构造学意义的、化学成分较接近地幔橄榄岩的火山岩,常与科马提质玄武岩及拉斑玄武岩密切伴生,组成科马提岩套或科马提岩-玄武岩组合,是确定绿岩带的重要证据之一;在年代分布上,科马提岩主要产于太古宙绿岩带内,也有一些分布在元古宙和显生宙,迄今报导的最年轻的科马提岩(90Ma)产于哥伦比亚的Gorgona岛;科马提岩与许多重要矿产(如Au、Cu、Ni、Cr、V、Pt等)有密切联系。近年国外学者更强调它是探讨地幔成分、壳幔演化、地史中地幔化  相似文献

Lithostratigraphy, physicochemical stratigraphy, biostratigraphy, and geochronology of the 77–70 Ma old series bracketing the Campanian–Maastrichtian boundary have been investigated by 70 experts. For the first time, direct relationships between macro- and microfossils have been established, as well as direct and indirect relationships between chemo-physical and biostratigraphical tools. A combination of criteria for selecting the boundary level, duration estimates, uncertainties on durations and on the location of biohorizons have been considered; new chronostratigraphic units are proposed.
