Basic concepts of cultural historical geography have been applied to a variety of community issues in St. Paul, MN. Through the process a sense of place has been developed at several scales. This inclusive sense of place has provided a link among various factions and made possible several compromises in land use and economic development issues. The water resources of Canada are today, and have always been, of major importance to the welfare of Canadians. Throughout most of Canada's history, these resources have been viewed within a supply–management framework and, frequently, exploited through the construction of 'megaprojects', often with little or no concern for issues such as environmental harm and social and community disruption. As in many parts of the world, those most affected by such large-scale water resource developments have been aboriginals (in Canada, 'First Nations' peoples). Although the issues of environmental, social and economic damage to First Nations as a result of water megaprojects have been investigated, little has been written about the impact of such projects – especially dam construction – on the loss of sense of place of deracinated peoples. This paper investigates one example of such loss of sense of place, that of the Cheslatta T'En forcibly removed from their ancestral lands in the 1950s so as to allow for the construction of a private hydroelectric dam by the Aluminum Company of Canada (Alcan).  相似文献

Out-migration from rural areas and generational shifts create conditions whereby increasing numbers of private forest owners live at a distance from their forestland. Geographical distance and non-residency have been raised as issues that may possibly weaken these owners’ relationships with their properties. Drawing on the “sense of place” concept as a frame of analysis for 51 qualitative interviews with resident and nonresident private forest owners from two areas in Sweden, this study provides in-depth understanding of how geographical distance and place of residency shape owners’ feelings about their forest properties. The study shows that sense of place is constructed in complex and multifaceted ways over time and that social and historical contexts and processes beyond the forest environment can make owners feel closeness to their distant properties. Thus, geographical distance or residency alone does not explain variations in these forest owners’ feelings of distance or closeness to their properties.  相似文献

Community networks help build place-based community by offering individual citizens and organizations access to the Internet, the ability to post information online, and opportunities to discuss community affairs. Community networks are inspired by a dynamic vision of community that incorporates a global sense of place. A global sense of place is valuable because it helps to illuminate a place's connections with the world and may therefore enable scale-jumping forms of activism. This article analyzes interviews with participants in four U.S. community networks to explore how networks combine a politics of mobility, a politics of access, and a politics of place to construct a global sense of place. The degree to which each network emphasizes mobility, access, and place varies. This variation has implications for both community activism and issues of diversity in community. Networks that fail to link mobility, access, and place may increase, rather than decrease, inequalities in access to electronic communications as well as to forms of political power.  相似文献

地方感强调地方本身具有的特质及人与地之间的情感连结关系, 是近年来国外环境心理学和游憩地理学的热点论题。以世界遗产地苏州古典园林为例, 基于旅游涉入、旅游吸引力、旅游功能、地方感、遗产保护态度与遗产保护行为6 个潜变量, 构建地方感结构关系模型, 通过设计量表并回收909 份有效调查样本, 运用SPSS、Amos 软件及验证性因子分析方法, 探讨了旅游者地方感的影响关系路径及运行机理。研究结果表明:① 由地方感前因影响导入机制与后果效应输出机制构成的“导入—输出”系统机制的运行过程与结果是苏州古典园林旅游者地方感的影响关系机理;② 地方感前因变量旅游涉入、旅游吸引力、旅游功能均对地方感有显著的正向影响, 同时地方感的形成对遗产保护态度及遗产保护行为也具有重要的影响效应;③ 旅游吸引力对地方感的影响最小(0.341), 旅游涉入对地方感的影响最小(0.252);④ 地方感的形成对旅游者的遗产保护态度及遗产保护行为均具有重要的影响效应, 其对遗产保护行为的影响(0.467) 比对保护态度的影响(0.420) 更加显著。对地方感前因变量与后果效应进行整合分析, 探讨地方感影响关系机理, 以期为我国遗产地的遗产保护与旅游发展的协调互利提供借鉴及指明方向。  相似文献

广州石牌村、棠下村和珠村3 个市中心到市郊均匀扩散的城中村为例,通过修订量表对城中村移民进行施测,然后采用SPSS 17.0 和M-plus 7 统计软件整理数据。从微观视角分析城中村移民的地方感(城中村和乡下两种地方感)在性别、年龄、居住时间、居住形式、收入水平、文化资本、根植性、居住环境和社会融合等因素中的差异及其影响路径。研究发现:① 地方感存在性别差异。女性的地方感均值不管是在城中村,还是在其故乡的均比男性低;② 移民的地方感在年龄、居住时间和居住形式上的t 检验结果没有差异,而在收入水平上有差异;③ 文化资本、居住环境和社会融合等因素,其在地方感的高低分组之间的影响存在差异;④ 社会融合与文化资本、根植性和居住环境呈显著正相关,而乡下地方感与文化资本和居住环境呈显著负相关;⑤ 从影响路径来看,地方感不能直接影响社会融合,而是通过根植性、居住环境和文化资本等因素进行间接的影响。  相似文献

宗教地理是文化地理重要的研究内容之一,但在中国相关实证研究仍不多见。结合半结构问卷调查和访谈,对广州石室圣心大教堂的非洲裔移民宗教场所地方感特征及其形成机理进行探讨。研究发现:非洲裔移民宗教场所地方依恋和地方认同发展快于地方依赖;非裔移民较强的圣地地方依恋同时存在较强的空间可替代性,但又由于区位等因素存在宗教功能之外的非可替代性;圣地地方依赖则因被宗教教义视为功利性而被掩盖。回归分析表明,社交和场所互动时间是指示地方感的最显著指标。随着非粤宗教文化的融合发展,宏观政治环境以及语言文化隔离等外生因素正对宗教地方感的提高产生重要影响。  相似文献

从基于现象学路径的地方感研究引入,批判性地借鉴地方芭蕾概念,按照人地之间实际相处的亲疏程度不同,将广州天河体育中心公共休闲空间中的人地关系区分为三类:日常式相处、周期式相处、背景式相处。其中背景式相处的人地关系已经超越了地方芭蕾概念的解释边界,由此引发出如下两个值得进一步探讨的理论命题:第一,“人地整体”或“人地相处”或可取代人文主义地理学研究中用以刻画人地关系本质的“地方整体”概念;第二,目前主流的地方感研究实质上是一种基于心理学的局部的地方感研究,在它之外还应有一种围绕着人地相处的各种实际可能性来展开的整体的地方感研究,以及一种接近于哲学层次的人地关系基础研究。  相似文献

采用Beerli和Martin等编制的旅游体验及地方感研究量表,以问卷调查数据为基础,通过构建多群组结构方程模型对粤港澳大学生游客的美展感知与地方感影响进行了研究。结果表明:① 大学生游客对美展的感知及粤港澳地方感的产生受到5个变量维度的影响:认知形象、旅游涉入、社会联系、地方认同与地方依恋;② 大学生游客对美展的认知形象、旅游涉入和社会联系都对粤港澳地方认同具有显著影响;大学生游客对美展的旅游涉入、社会联系及粤港澳地方认同都对粤港澳地方依恋也具有显著影响,而认知形象对粤港澳地方依恋具有显著影响的研究假设未获支持;③ 粤港澳与非粤港澳两个大学生群体在旅游涉入与粤港澳地方依恋、地方认同与粤港澳地方依恋的关系中都存在显著差异。研究结果为验证艺术旅游地在提升游客地方感中发挥作用提供理论依据。  相似文献

现代性、全球化和城市化催生了当代的怀旧现象并使其成为国内外学界关注的重要话题。涵盖人们衣食住行和精神文化消费领域的怀旧消费风靡全球,以城市怀旧为主题的特殊消费空间和文化空间作为怀旧消费实践过程中的时空综合体,其地方建构的过程及社会文化意义值得文化地理学者进行探讨。文章以广州百年老字号西餐厅太平馆为案例,通过参与式观察和半结构式访谈等质性研究方法,并收集相关媒体报道作为资料来源。从怀旧餐厅的物质空间建构和情感空间建构2个维度对其地方建构的过程,以及此空间与消费者之间的互动关系进行探究。研究表明,太平馆作为怀旧消费空间,经营者通过对物质空间的主体性建构再现地方记忆,使得地方感得以再生产;而与此同时消费者则通过在怀旧空间中的消费实践获得归属和认同等情感体验,并成为了情感空间建构的积极主体,通过对太平馆的地方依恋与地方认同积极推动怀旧地方的持续建构。  相似文献

Although the concept of sense of place has a long history in the social sciences, relatively few studies have attempted a quantitative analysis of sense of place at the neighborhood level. This study reports on the empirical findings of a sense of place survey developed and tested in two contrasting neighborhoods in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada: Southwest Mountain, an upper-middle-class suburban neighborhood and Northeast Industrial, a lower-income, working-class neighborhood located in the heart of the city's industrial district. The principal objective is to assess the relationship between sense of place and the socio-demographic characteristics of residents living in neighborhoods of very different socioeconomic status. This study also introduces a method for calculating a neighborhood sense of place score derived from a fully tested, validated survey instrument. It was found that sense of place was strongest in Southwest Mountain, and among seniors, long-term residents, unmarried people, and immigrants. In addition, residents with a lower level of education and those in the unpaid labor force had a stronger sense of place.  相似文献

Cittaslow is an Italian‐based global network of towns and cities that grew out of the Slow Food movement. Cittaslow and Slow Food reject the standardization of culture and taste that has accompanied globalization. Instead, they focus on strategies that foster a sense of place that is derived from a town's unique environmental and cultural setting: its terroir. Clonakilty, a small town located thirty miles southwest of Cork, is Ireland's first and only “slow city.” This paper examines how a sense of place is conveyed in the town's restaurants through the selection of menu items and locally produced food. The results indicate that independently owned restaurants are more likely to embrace Cittaslow's efforts at conveying a sense of place than restaurants in hotels and pubs. Nearly all of the town's restaurants serving Irish food use locally available food suppliers.  相似文献

地方感的研究为探讨人地关系提供了新的视角。情境主题餐厅作为能提供特殊体验的一种微观文化空间,为员工构造了一个“异位(heterotopias)”的超现实空间(hyperreality)。本文通过对广州味道云南食府这一典型情境主题餐厅员工的体验式观察和深度访谈,探讨了情境主题餐厅员工对不同尺度空间产生的不同地方感特征及其原因,得出以下结论:① 员工对情境主题餐厅及其所处城市的地方感存在差异。他们对餐厅具有强烈的地方认同和地方依赖,对餐厅所处城市具有地方依赖,但对餐厅以外的其他城市空间不存在地方认同;② 员工对情境主题餐厅地方感特征产生的原因是餐厅融洽的社交环境、良好的工作和生活环境以及较高认同的情境(文化);③ 员工对情境主题餐厅所处城市地方感特征产生的原因是城市所提供的良好工作条件、较差的自然环境、低熟悉的城市空间、对家乡的依恋和对“异乡人”的身份认同;④ 员工对情境主题餐厅及其所处城市的熟悉程度、环境和文化认同程度和归属/依恋程度的差异是员工对两者地方感存在差异的原因。结论对于丰富地方感在微观空间层面的理论与实证研究有重要的价值,能够为城市中其他微观文化空间的地方感研究提供借鉴。  相似文献

居民是旅游利益相关者的重要一方,居民的地方感、对获取利益和付出成本的感知将影响居民的满意度,进而影响旅游地的可持续发展。以三清山景区为案例地,通过问卷调查和访谈,借鉴已有文献构建结构方程模型,结果显示:① 通过因子分析可将旅游影响感知分为成本感知、情感性获益感知和物质性获益感知,情感性获益感知对居民地方感、满意度中介影响最为显著;② 地方感与旅游影响感知存在相互影响,成本感知与地方感相互作用不显著,获益感知与地方感显著正向相关,其中情感性获益感知相对物质性获益感知与地方感相互作用更明显;③ 居民情感性获益感知与物质性获益感知相互作用显著;④ 原住民相对于非原住民地方感更强,情感性获益感知更高,对旅游成本感知更敏感,对物质性获益感知部分低于非原住民。  相似文献

Government units such as counties and cities have long been the basis for economic development, service delivery, and problem solving in rural America, but they are increasingly inappropriate, because many of them are too small to reach the critical mass and because rural issues often transcend arbitrarily set political boundaries. To overcome the resultant adverse effects, many rural communities have been rethinking their development strategies and actively forging regional partnerships. Ad hoc regionalism is a politically feasible and effective way for rural communities to collaborate in these initiatives. The exact issues that spark such collaboration may vary from place to place, but they are all grassroots, voluntary regional governance frameworks or innovations. They allow rural communities to pool their resources and reach the critical mass necessary to tackle a variety of regional issues and take advantage of new economic development opportunities without replacing or threatening existing government units. The two case studies discussed in this article—the western Kansas Rural Economic Development Alliance and the San Juan Forum in the Four Corners region of the southwestern United States—show that ad hoc regionalism offers several advantages over rural communities working independently but that challenges in implementing it exist.  相似文献

Nowadays, a huge quantity of information is stored in digital format. A great portion of this information is constituted by textual and unstructured documents, where geographical references are usually given by means of place names. A common problem with textual information retrieval is represented by polysemous words, that is, words can have more than one sense. This problem is present also in the geographical domain: place names may refer to different locations in the world. In this paper we investigate the use of our word sense disambiguation technique in the geographical domain, with the aim of resolving ambiguous place names. Our technique is based on WordNet conceptual density. Due to the lack of a reference corpus tagged with WordNet senses, we carried out the experiments over a set of 1,210 place names extracted from the SemCor corpus that we named GeoSemCor and made publicly available. We compared our method with the most‐frequent baseline and the enhanced‐Lesk method, which previously has not been tested in large contexts. The results show that a better precision can be achieved by using a small context (phrase level), whereas a greater coverage can be obtained by using large contexts (document level). The proposed method should be tested with other corpora, due to the fact that our experiments evidenced the excessive bias towards the most‐frequent sense of the GeoSemCor.  相似文献

体现旅游地地方特征的元素是各种类型旅游体验设计的源泉,引导不同文化背景的游客进行体验认知.形成游客的综合体验感.地方感包含了地方的客观特征和人们的主观认知两方面,而旅游地地方感的认知由地方认同和地方依赖两方面构成:其中地方认同主要来源于游客对地方独特性的感官、情感,以及对地方原真性的思考体验:地方依赖则主要来源于游客对地方依赖性的功能要素的体验.本文归纳旅游地地方感的构成要素,构建了由3大部分、11个因子构成的游客地方感认知测量的指标体系,通过问卷调查对游客的地方感认知进行定量调查.基于调查数据统计得到所有因子的评价得分,采用皮尔森相关分析的方法分析所有凶子之间的相关关系,归纳得到游客地方感认知的规律,以便为旅游地开发、规划、管理提供参考.  相似文献
