Radiological dirty bombs and improvised nuclear devices pose a significant threat to both public health and national security. Growing networks of radiation sensors have been deployed by a number of offices within the U.S. and international agencies. Detecting such threats while minimizing false alarm rates presents a considerable challenge to homeland security and public health. This research aims to achieve a higher probability of detection with a lower probability of false alarms. It focuses on the local spatial instability of radiation levels in order to detect radioactive materials based on robust outlier detection methods. Our approach includes a three‐step abnormality detection method consisting of one‐dimensional robust outlier detection for all gamma‐ray counts, a density‐based clustering analysis, and a two‐dimensional robust outlier detection method using a bagplot, based on spatial associations. The effectiveness of the method proposed is demonstrated through a case study, wherein radioactive materials are detected in urban environments, and its performance is compared with alternative methods employing a k‐sigma approach, local Getis–Ord () statistic, and the goodness of fit of the Poisson distribution.  相似文献

In this article we present a heuristic map simplification algorithm based on a novel topology‐inferred graph model. Compared with the existing algorithms, which only focus either on geometry simplification or on topological consistency, our algorithm simplifies the map composed of series of polylines and constraint points while maintaining the topological relationships in the map, maximizing the number of removal points, and minimizing error distance efficiently. Unlike some traditional geometry simplification algorithms, such as Douglas and Peucker's, which add points incrementally, we remove points sequentially based on a priority determined by heuristic functions. In the first stage, we build a graph to model the topology of points in the map from which we determine whether a point is removable or not. As map generalization is needed in different applications with different requirements, we present two heuristic functions to determine the priority of points removal for two different purposes: to save storage space and to reduce computation time. The time complexity of our algorithm is which is efficient enough to be considered for real‐time applications. Experiments on real maps were conducted and the results indicate that our algorithm produces high quality results; one heuristic function results in higher removal points saving storage space and the other improves the time performance significantly.  相似文献

在传统Web服务发现架构中,仅凭接口参数的结构化相似度计算匹配方法远远不能满足复杂地理服务的发现需求。本文结合语义Web知识,设计了地理服务发现框架,框架支持地理服务语义化描述、带有语义信息的服务注册、基于语义推理的服务发现。其中,服务匹配算法是服务发现的关键,本文基于传统的四级匹配算法,提出采用分级匹配思想,并在I/O匹配中利用本体分类树,将本体相似度求解转换为分类树中节点距离求解的方法的地理服务发现匹配算法。实例证明,改进的算法不但能区分匹配等级,而且能区分同一匹配等级之间的相似度大小,能较好地满足地理服务的发现的需求。  相似文献

建筑信息模型(BIM)已经被广泛用于提高复杂管线系统的管理效率,但已有石油管线的BIM建模,往往依靠设计图纸或现场测绘手工完成,耗时费力。为此本文提出了一种融合RGB-D深度图像和LiDAR点云数据的石油管线BIM重建方法。首先利用RGB-D图像提供的丰富语义信息和LiDAR点云精确几何信息,对深度相机采集的RGB图像进行分割,生成三维语义地图;然后通过点云粗匹配和精确匹配实现数据融合;最后给出了不同结构管线构件的BIM模型制作方法。试验结果表明,与以往的管线BIM重建方法相比,该方法更准确、高效,有助于石油企业对含有复杂管线的计转站等实施信息化管理。  相似文献

In this study, we test the use of Land Use and Coverage Area frame Survey (LUCAS) in-situ reference data for classifying high-resolution Sentinel-2 imagery at a large scale. We compare several pre-processing schemes (PS) for LUCAS data and propose a new PS for a fully automated classification of satellite imagery on the national level. The image data utilizes a high-dimensional Sentinel-2-based image feature space. Key elements of LUCAS data pre-processing include two positioning approaches and three semantic selection approaches. The latter approaches differ in the applied quality measures for identifying valid reference points and by the number of LU/LC classes (7–12). In an iterative training process, the impact of the chosen PS on a Random Forest image classifier is evaluated. The results are compared to LUCAS reference points that are not pre-processed, which act as a benchmark, and the classification quality is evaluated by independent sets of validation points. The classification results show that the positional correction of LUCAS points has an especially positive effect on the overall classification accuracy. On average, this improves the accuracy by 3.7%. This improvement is lowest for the most rigid sample selection approach, PS2, and highest for the benchmark data set, PS0. The highest overall accuracy is 93.1% which is achieved by using the newly developed PS3; all PS achieve overall accuracies of 80% and higher on average. While the difference in overall accuracy between the PS is likely to be influenced by the respective number of LU/LC classes, we conclude that, overall, LUCAS in-situ data is a suitable source for reference information for large scale high resolution LC mapping using Sentinel-2 imagery. Existing sample selection approaches developed for Landsat imagery can be transferred to Sentinel-2 imagery, achieving comparable semantic accuracies while increasing the spatial resolution. The dynamics of the earth and its inhabitants have become a core topic and focus in research in the spatial sciences. The spatio-temporal data avalanche challenges researchers to provide efficient and effective means to process spatio-temporal data. It is of vital importance to develop mechanisms that allow for the transition of data not only into information but also into knowledge. Knowledge representation techniques from artificial intelligence play an important role in laying the foundations for theories dealing with spatio-temporal data. Specifically, the advances in the area of qualitative spatial representation and reasoning (QSTR) have led to promising results. Categorical distinctions of spatio-temporal information identified by QSTR calculi potentially correspond to those relevant to humans. This article presents the first behavioral evaluation of qualitative calculi modeling geographic events associated with scaling deformations of entities, that is, changes in size by either expansion or contraction. Examples of such dynamics include a lake flooding its surroundings or an expanding oil spill in the ocean. We compare four experiments using four different semantic domains. Each domain consists of two spatially extended entities: one entity is undergoing scaling deformations while the other is static. We kept the formal QSTR characterization, which are paths through a topologically defined conceptual neighborhood graph, identical across all semantic domains. Our results show that for geographic events associated with scaling deformations (a) topological relations are not equally salient cognitively; (b) domain semantics has an influence on the conceptual salience of topological relations.  相似文献

Though the intersection of spatial data and semantic web technologies holds significant promise, there are still many challenges before this promise can be realized. One of these challenges is query representation. History suggests that an appropriate solution is a specialized query language for spatial data; however, with a broad interpretation of the SPARQL specification and extensions that would be useful outside the spatial realm, one can use SPARQL to query spatial concepts effectively. This article establishes a set of desiderata for a query language capable of dealing with spatial Semantic Web‐based data, discusses the challenges facing such a query language, and addresses these challenges with straightforward solutions that are broadly applicable. The effectiveness of these extensions is demonstrated using example queries.  相似文献

With the increasing global distribution of high rate dual-frequency global positioning system (GPS) receivers, the production of a real-time atmospheric constituent definition, total electron content (TEC), has become a beneficial contributor to the modeling applications used in the assessment of GPS position accuracy and the composition of the ionosphere, plasmasphere, and troposphere. Historically, TEC measurements have been obtained through post processing techniques to produce the quality of data necessary for modeling applications with rigorous error estimate requirements. These procedures necessitated the collection of large volumes of data to address the various abnormalities in the computation of TEC associated with the use of greater data quality controls and source selection while real-time modeling environments must rely on autonomous controls and filtration techniques to prevent the production of erroneous model results. In this paper we present methods for processing TEC in real time, which utilize several procedures including the application of an ionospheric model to automatically perform quality control on the TEC output and the computational techniques used to address receiver multipath, faulty receiver observations, cycle-slips, segmented processing, and receiver calibrations. The resulting TEC measurements are provided with rigorous error estimates validated using the vertical TEC from the Jason satellite mission.

Today, there is a huge amount of data gathered about the Earth, not only from new spatial information systems, but also from new and more sophisticated data collection technologies. This scenario leads to a number of interesting research challenges, such as how to integrate geographic information of different kinds. The basic motivation of this paper is to introduce a GIS architecture that can enable geographic information integration in a seamless and flexible way based on its semantic value and regardless of its representation. The proposed solution is an ontology-driven geographic information system that acts as a system integrator. In this system, an ontology is a component, such as the database, cooperating to fulfill the system's objectives. By browsing through ontologies the users can be provided with information about the embedded knowledge of the system. Special emphasis is given to the case of remote sensing systems and geographic information systems. The levels of ontologies can be used to guide processes for the extraction of more general or more detailed information. The use of multiple ontologies allows the extraction of information in different stages of classification. The semantic integration of aerial images and GIS is a crucial step towards better geospatial modeling.  相似文献
