The dual-frequency Airborne Precipitation Radar-2 (APR-2) was deployed during the Wakasa Bay Experiment in 2003, for validation of the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS. Besides providing extensive observations of diverse precipitating systems, this Ku-(13.4 GHz) and Ka-band (35.6 GHz) cross-track scanning radar measured sea surface backscatter simultaneously. While the characteristics of the normalized sea surface cross section /spl sigma//sup 0/ at Ku-band are well understood and widely published, the existing experimental data concerning /spl sigma//sup 0/ at Ka-band are scarce and results are inconsistent. In this letter, the Ku/Ka-band /spl sigma//sup 0/ measurements collected by APR-2, together with the estimated uncertainties, are discussed. In general, the measured /spl sigma//sup 0/ at Ka-band at around 10/spl deg/ incidence angle appears to be close to that at Ku-band /spl sigma//sup 0/, and Ka-band exhibits a nonnegligible difference in wind dependence with respect to Ku-band for moderate to high winds.  相似文献

选取了1998年与1999年HUBEX观测资料,将TRMM卫星上的星载降雨雷达PR与阜阳的713数字化天气雷达资料在以下3个方面做了比较:(1)强度场的分布;(2)平均反射率廓线;(3)灵敏度。分析、比较结果可知阜阳雷达在探测灵敏度和水平方向的分辨率要高于PR,但由于波束宽度、衰减和资料转化过程计算误差的原因,其远距离处的观测值与真实值有一定偏差。PR波长短,对衰减敏感,尤其是在垂直方向上经过强衰减后,订正值仍偏小。但由于探测方式的不同PR在水平方向上不存在衰减的问题,且其资料分布均匀,因此提出一种用PR资料来订正地基雷达资料的方法用以提高地基雷达探测的精确度。  相似文献

X波段测波雷达海流信息的提取决定着有效浪高结果的准确度。因此,对可能影响X波段测波雷达海流信息提取的各种环境因素以及雷达工作模式等进行了海浪回波成像仿真,然后采用目前测波雷达通用的算法对仿真回波图像进行了海流信息反演。主要研究了海表面风速、雷达天线架设距离海平面高度、天线转速、海流流速、海流流向与海浪方向夹角、所选取的图像帧数以及每帧图像大小对海流信息反演的影响。对比分析设定值与反演结果,可知海表面风速在6~14 m/s之间,天线高度大于20 m并且转速为50~70 r/min,流速小于200 cm/s并且主波浪向与流向夹角不接近90°,图像帧数为128帧并且每帧图像数据点数为128×128时,X波段测波雷达能获得最佳海流信息反演结果。  相似文献

介绍了OSMAR071高频地波雷达系统“凤凰”台风期间海面风、浪遥测结果。文中给出高频地波雷达OSMAR071 风、浪反演算法:利用SBM模型结合多波束采样法反演风向;利用改进的Barrick模型进行有效波高的反演;利用SMB关系式进行风速反演。将雷达定点观测结果与浮标数据进行对比,表现出很好的一致性,其中有效波高相关系数为0.72,均方根误差为0.48 m,风向相关系数为0.97,均方根误差为27.7°,风速的相关系数为0.6,均方根误差为 3.5 m/s。文中还对影响探测精度的因素进行了分析。  相似文献

海洋卫星测高在全球和区域大地水准面建模、全球海洋重力场反演、海底地形探测、海平面变化监测、构造板块运动研究等大地测量领域至关重要。本文概述了海洋微波测高卫星的简要发展历程,重点梳理了卫星测高在全球海洋重力场和全球海底地形建模方面取得的丰硕成果,对比分析了主流的海洋重力场和海底地形模型;介绍了合成孔径雷达高度计、Ka频段雷达高度计、合成孔径雷达干涉仪3种先进微波测高技术,并分析了其各自的优缺点,表明它们将在未来若干年呈并驱发展趋势;较为系统地阐述了海洋卫星测高的另一新型技术,即GNSS反射信号测量技术的研究动态,给出了GNSS-R(GNSS reflectometry)类(试验)卫星的发展脉络和发展前景。卫星测高的发展趋势之一是多颗测高卫星的组网观测,本文概括了曾经提出的和拟议中的若干组网测高计划,扼要介绍了由我国提出并正在实施的双星跟飞测高模式;最后指出了卫星测高发展的几个主要关注点,包括双星跟飞测高和SWOT(surface water ocean topography)任务的2维海面高(差)测量、卫星测高反演海底地形与高级地形激光高度计观测数据及遥感卫星图像的结合、星载GNSS-R厘米级海面高的载波相位测量、人工智能技术在卫星测高中的潜在应用等。  相似文献

通过分析高频地波雷达所在探测海域内浮标观测的有效波高和风速数据,建立了海面风速与有效波高的经验模型。利用二范数最小方法对该模型的参数进行估计,实验结果表明了该模型的稳定性。将所提模型应用到高频地波雷达OSMAR071数据处理中,6个月数据连续反演结果与浮标给出的风速吻合度高,表明了该风速反演经验模型的有效性。  相似文献

This letter presents the development of a sea ice flag algorithm for the Envisat altimetry mission to detect sea ice corrupted sea surface height data within quality control processing. The algorithm takes advantage of having both passive and active microwave sensors on the same platform with coregistered measurements. Its performances have been evaluated based on collocations between the along-track Envisat data with reference maps built from combination of daily grids of sea ice concentration from SSM/I sensors and backscatter cross section from SeaWinds scatterometer on QuikSCAT satellite.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the backscatter of the microwave signal in a boreal forest environment based on a Ku -band airborne Frequency-Modulated Continuous Waveform (FMCW) profiling radar—Tomoradar. We selected a half-managed boreal forest in the southern part of Finland for a field test. By decomposing the waveform collected by the Tomoradar, the vertical canopy structure was achieved. Based on the amplitude of the waveform, the Backscattered Energy Ratio of Canopy-to-Total (BERCT) was calculated. Meanwhile, the canopy fraction was derived from the corresponding point cloud recorded by a Velodyne VLP-16 LiDAR mounted on the same platform. Lidar-derived canopy fraction was obtained by counting the number of the first/ the strongest returns versus the total amount of returns. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of radar-derived BERCT on lidar-derived canopy fraction and canopy height are investigated. A fitted model is derived to describe the Ku-band microwave backscatter in the boreal forest to numerically analyze the proportion contributed by four factors: lidar-derived canopy fraction, radar-derived canopy height, the radar-derived distance between trees and radar sensor and other factors, from co-polarization Tomoradar measurements. The Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of the proposed model was 0.0958, and the coefficient of determination R2 was 0.912. The fitted model reveals that the correlation coefficient between radar-derived BERCT and lidar-derived canopy fraction is 0.84, which illustrates that lidar surface reflection explains the majority of the profiling /waveform radar response. Thus, vertical canopy structure derived from lidar can be used for the benefit of radar analysis.  相似文献

Estimation of crop area, growth and phenological information is very important for monitoring of agricultural crops. However, judicious combination of spatial and temporal data from different spectral regions is necessary to meet the requirement. This study highlights the use of active microwave QuikSCAT Ku-band scatterometer and Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) passive microwave radiometer data to derive information on important phenological phases of rice crop. The wetness index, a weekly composite product derived using brightness temperatures from 19, 37 and 85 GHz channels of SSM/I, was used to identify the puddling period. Ku-band scatterometer data provided the signal of transplanted rice seedlings since they acts as scatterers and increases the backscattering. Dual peak nature of temporal backscatter curve around the heading stage of rice crop was observed in Ku-band. The decrease of backscatter after first peak was associated with the threshold value of 60% crop canopy cover. The symmetric (Gaussian) and asymmetric (lognormal) curve fits were attempted to derive the date of initiation of the heading phase. The temporal signature from each of these sensors was found to complement each other in crop growth monitoring. Image showing pixel-wise timings of heading stage revealed the differences exists in various parts of the study area.  相似文献

This paper presents the application of the velocity bunching model to detect the wave spectra pattern. We have developed the azimuth cut-off model which is estimated from the velocity bunching theory to model out the significant wave height. The velocity bunching model utilized two ERS-1 images (First European Remote Sensing Satellite). These two ERS-1 images have been acquired with the different monsoon periods. Several steps have been used to simulate the significant wave height from the velocity bunching model, these were: the real ocean wave spectra simulated from the in situ wave data, and the SAR wave spectra, extracted by applying two-dimensional Fourier transform (2-DFFT). Finally, the significant wave height was estimated based on the azimuth cut-off arising from the velocity bunching model. Two hypotheses were established in modelling the wave spectra from the SAR images: (i) azimuth cut-off was based on velocity bunching, which has been used to model the significant wave height with high accuracy, and (ii) velocity bunching model has been used to map the SAR wave spectra into ocean wave spectra. In the present study, a specific ERS-1 images of the South China Sea has been considered. No significant differences were found between the velocity-bunching model and ocean wave spectra model where ERS-1 wave spectra has been found to be dominated by the azimuth fall-off effects. Furthermore, the velocity bunching model produced wave spectra pattern approximately closed to the real ocean wave compared to the SAR wave spectra. The highest rate of r2 (0.69) occurred when the significant wave height increased. It has been concluded that the velocity bunching model could be used as the best fit model for estimating the significant wave height traveled along the azimuth direction.  相似文献

This paper examines the relationship of C-band radar backscatter from the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar on board the ENVISAT satellite with the local angle of incidence, whose influence on the received signal is significant, particularly in the modes of sensor operation that use the full swath of the orbit track. Linear regression is carried out for each pixel throughout a large time series of radar data over the whole of the state of Queensland, Australia, and at Great Salt Lake, Utah, USA. In the first case, the resultant coefficients are analysed for correlation against various parameters, with regolith showing the highest correlation. Class separability analysis shows the potential to use the resultant coefficients as a supplement to absolute threshold values in order to distinguish between classes of vegetation and/or geology, where cloud cover may preclude the use of optical data. It is observed that the separability between water and land is greatly higher using the slope coefficient B than using backscatter σ0, which may be of great benefit in the remote sensing of water where cloud cover is present (from which radar is largely independent). This is especially the case when considering the observed overlapping of backscatter values from water, with values from aeolian sand and lacustrine and alluvial sediments, rendering the use of backscatter alone problematic. In order to test the potential use of B to map water extents, the study over the Great Salt Lake compares the classification accuracy of B against that of σ0. It is found that the σ0 classification misrepresents desert, salt flat and dry lake basin areas, where the B classification differentiates these regions accurately. The resultant classification achieves a kappa statistic around 0.9, which shows very high conformance. An accurate and novel method to classify water is therefore demonstrated, which awaits the launch of anticipated improved synthetic aperture radar instruments on satellite missions in the coming few years.  相似文献

2010年9月-10月成功开展的中国首次Ku/Ka双频星载降水测量雷达校飞试验,获得了宝贵的机载雷达实测数据和地面、海面同步观测数据,以及热带降雨测量卫星所携带降水雷达的同步观测数据。本研究给出了校飞试验中获得的Ku/Ka双频降水测量雷达探测结果;对Ku/Ka频段机载雷达与车载气象雷达数据进行了点对点比较,计算了定量指标,从统计意义上表明观测的一致性;并对比分析了校飞雷达数据与星载降水雷达数据,揭示降水测量雷达仪器的降雨探测能力;利用降雨和晴空海面实测数据给出了Ku/Ka频段雷达探测灵敏度和实际距离分辨率的分析结果,验证了Ku/Ka频段降水测量雷达的性能指标。  相似文献

Detailed spatial information on the presence and properties of woody vegetation serves many purposes, including carbon accounting, environmental reporting and land management. Here, we investigated whether machine learning can be used to combine multiple spatial observations and training data to estimate woody vegetation canopy cover fraction (‘cover’), vegetation height (‘height’) and woody above-ground biomass dry matter (‘biomass’) at 25-m resolution across the Australian continent, where possible on an annual basis. We trained a Random Forest algorithm on cover and height estimates derived from airborne LiDAR over 11 regions and inventory-based biomass estimates for many thousands of plots across Australia. As predictors, we used annual geomedian Landsat surface reflectance, ALOS/PALSAR L-band radar backscatter mosaics, spatial vegetation structure data derived primarily from ICESat/GLAS satellite altimetry, and spatial climate data. Cross-validation experiments were undertaken to optimize the selection of predictors and the configuration of the algorithm. The resulting estimation errors were 0.07 for cover, 3.4 m for height, and 80 t dry matter ha-1 for biomass. A large fraction (89–94 %) of the observed variance was explained in each case. Priorities for future research include validation of the LiDAR-derived cover training data and the use of new satellite vegetation height data from the GEDI mission. Annual cover mapping for 2000–2018 provided detailed insight in woody vegetation dynamics. Continentally, woody vegetation change was primarily driven by water availability and its effect on bushfire and mortality, particularly in the drier interior. Changes in woody vegetation made a substantial contribution to Australia’s total carbon emissions since 2000. Whether these ecosystems will recover biomass in future remains to be seen, given the persistent pressures of climate change and land use.  相似文献

This letter studies the impact of the use of permanent scatterers (PS) on the distribution of the perpendicular baselines in long-term satellite interferometric synthetic aperture radar surveys. This letter also evaluates the relation between the radar center frequency and the dispersion of the estimates of the elevations of the PS as a function of noise and of the time jitter due to atmospheric disturbances.  相似文献

Evaluation of the Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) precipitation features is presented from various passes over Indian oceanic and land regions under the framework of radiative transfer simulations for both emission and scattering atmospheres. There is considerable uncertainty in the interpretation of the SSM/I high-frequency scattering features for development of rainfall algorithms. Specifically large areas of very low emissivity regimes showing false rain signatures due to the presence of low brightness temperatures (TBs) that are often present in the vicinity of colder sea surface areas in the 85-GHz TB from SSM/I. In this connection, the Polarization Corrected Temperature (PCT) defined by Spencer using the 85-GHz channels, vertical (V) and horizontal (H), has been studied to delineate these surface effects. These false scattering signatures, once corrected using PCT as a suitable parameter, significantly improve the quality of the SSM/I-derived precipitation areas. These results are also confirmed with the cloud optical depth data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer sensor onboard the Aqua satellite and the standard merged rain product (geostationary infrared and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) microwave data) 3B42 from TRMM. This letter is aimed for selecting PCT as one of the suitable predictor variables for the development of operational rainfall retrieval algorithm for the Indo-French Megha-Tropiques satellite's microwave radiometer at high frequencies.   相似文献

星载散射计测量的归一化后向散射截面是有关海面毛细重力波的大小和方向的函数:散射计的回波强度与海面毛细重力波的振幅成正比;风向对后向散射系数具有调制作用。因此,可以利用散射计的数据,根据地球物理模型反演出具有高精确度、无雨和中低风速条件下的海面风场矢量。然而高达10%的散射计测量数据会受到降雨影响(Nie,etal.,2008),尤其工作在Ku波段的散射计。降雨对海面散射幅度的影响主要包括:(1)降雨对雷达波的衰减和散射;(2)降雨改变海洋水面形态和海面粗糙度。  相似文献

HY-2A卫星微波散射计主要用于测量海表面的风速和风向,为了满足其风速和风向的测量精度要求,必须对其进行在轨辐射定标。本文基于散射计在开阔大洋的观测数据,利用经过定标的seawinds散射计后向散射系数数据,分析了海洋目标定标法的定标精度,结果表明定标精度可以达到0.15 dB,且模式函数对定标结果的影响为系统偏差,说明海洋目标定标法需要选用高精度的模式函数。然后,采用相同的海洋目标定标算法,实现了HY-2A卫星微波散射计的在轨辐射定标,获得HY-2A卫星微波散射计VV极化的定标系数为-1.79 dB,HH极化的定标系数为-1.73 dB。最后,利用NDBC浮标观测数据,检验HY-2A卫星微波散射计反演的风矢量精度,证明获得的定标系数可以明显提高HY-2A卫星微波散射计反演风矢量的精度。  相似文献

基于海洋内波SAR成像机理与M4S海面微波散射成像模型,提出SAR海洋内波表层流反演新方法。首先从SAR图像上获得内波剖面的海面后向散射强度,利用AH理论的线性近似关系得到猜测表层流,通过海面微波散射成像模型仿真海洋内波的SAR海面后向散射强度,利用二分法不断地修改风速和流速梯度等参数,使仿真信号最大程度的逼近实际SAR图像上的海面后向散射强度,输出最终海表层流。以中国南海海区3景海洋内波SAR图像为例,对该方法进行了探讨。结果表明,仿真的海洋内波SAR海面后向散射强度剖面和实际SAR图像上的信号剖面吻合,两者的相关系数达90%以上,说明该反演方法是收敛与可行的。  相似文献

海洋雷达后向散射回波主要来自短重力波的Bragg 散射,这种散射与海面风场信息、边界层涡旋等密切相关。因此,可以从雷达散射截面反演风场信息。对1994 年4 月航天飞机成像雷达(SIRC/XSAR)获取的南中国海合成孔径雷达(SAR) 图像进行了分析研究。利用SIRC 数据,从SAR 图像谱提取了风向;根据CMOD4 模型,从C波段雷达后向散射系数反演风速;利用双尺度散射模型对反演的风速进行了对比分析。结果表明,从SIRC雷达数据可以反演海面风矢量,星载SAR是提取海面风场信息的有效技术手段之一。  相似文献
