Some well-preserved conifer leafy shoots and female cones from the Lower Cretaceous Changcai Formation near Fudong of Helong, eastern Jilin, Northeast China are studied. Based on gross morphological and cuticular study, a new species, Elatides helongensis Sun et Zhao (sp. nov.) is described systematically. The new species is characterized by persistent, linear or slightly falcate leaves with obtusely acute apex, attached helically on the shoots. Female cones of the new species are terminal and oval, composed of persistent helically-arranged rhomboidal scales and erect seeds. One erect seed is growing on each scale. Leaf cuticles are hypostomatic. Monocylic stomata are ellipse, composed of 2 sunken guard cells and 4-8 subsidiary cells. Moreover, the cuticles of a young female cone of Pityostrobus yingchengensis Yang are described for the first time.  相似文献

A new species of bubblegum coral,Paragorgia rubra sp.nov.,discovered from a seamount at a water depth of 373 m near the Yap Trench is studied using morphological and molecular approaches.Paragorgia rubra sp.nov.is the fourth species of the genus found in the tropical Western Pacific. The new gorgonian is red-colored,uniplanar,and measures approximately 530 mm high and 440 mm wide, with autozooids distributed only on one side of the colony.Paragorgia rubra sp.nov.is most similar to P.kaupeka Sánchez,2005,but differs distinctly in the polyp ovals with large and compound protuberances(vs.small and simple conical protuberances) and the medullar spindles possessing simple conical protuberances(vs.compound protuberances).Moreover,P.rubra sp.nov.differs from P.kaupeka in the smaller length/width ratio of surface radiates(1.53 vs.1.75).The genetic distance of the mtMutS gene between P.rubra sp.nov.and P.kaupeka is 0.66%,while the intraspecific distances within Paragorgia Milne-Edwards Haime,1857 except the species P.regalis complex are no more than 0.5%,further supporting the establishment of the new species.Furthermore, the ITS2 secondary structure of P.rubra sp.nov.is also different from those of congeners.Phylogenetic analyses indicate Paragorgia rubra sp.nov.and P.kaupeka form a clade, which branched early within Paragorgia and diversified approximately 15 Mya.  相似文献

A new free-living marine nematode species Hopperia sinensis sp. nov. from mangrove forests of Fujian Province, China, is identified and illustrated. Hopperia sinensis sp. nov. is characterized by its cephalic setae 2.4–2.8 μm long or 17%–20% head diameter, and amphids of 2.25–2.5 turns. Lateral differentiation appears with larger, more irregularly distributed dots behind 3–5 transverse rows of dots posterior to amphid. Buccal cavity is consisted of a shallow and weakly sclerotized cup-shaped portion with strongly sclerotized walls of 18–21 μm deep. There are three sclerotized and size-equally pointed teeth at the junction between the two parts. Spicules of 41–45 μm long are slightly curved with broadband velum and central strips at the proximal end. The gubernacula, with apparent lateral guiding pieces, are formed by one central tubular piece that is weakly sclerotized with 11–16 μm long dorso-caudally directed apophyses. There are 13–14 fine tubular precloacal supplements. Conico-cylindrical tail gradually tapers till pointed tail tip. Female is similar to male, but have a longer body and tail. Ovaries are opposed and outstretched, with anterior ovary to the left and posterior ovary to the right of the intestine. A pictorial key to all the valid known species in genus Hopperia is given.  相似文献

Aquaculture in saline-alkaline water has a major problem:microalgal blooming causes the p H of water to increase dramatically, thereby causing damage to the reared organisms. To solve this problem,we set out to fi nd a candidate fi lter-feeding bivalve species suitable for saline-alkaline water to graze on microalgae and to control the p H.In the current study,we investigated the ef fect of carbonate alkalinity(CA,2.5,10.0,and 20.0 meq/L)and p H(8.0,8.5,and 9.0)on the grazing capacity(GC)of the clam Cyclina sinensis.Additionally, the ef fect of clam size(small, medium, and large)and microalgae species(Nannochloropsis oculata,Chaetoceros müelleri, and Isochrysis galbana),and the ef fect of bottom sediment characteristic(mud, sandy mud,and muddy sand)and thickness(3 and 6 cm)were analyzed as well. The results show that the GC on I.galbana was the highest and small size had the maximum GC/W(W:wet weight including body and shells). No significant differences were observed between sediment type and thickness.Regarding CA and p H,a significant decrease in GC by the pH or by their interaction was found. The GC of C.sinensis was not greatly reduced in the treatments of p H≤8.5 and CA≤20.0,and also not aff ected by bottom sediment type, indicating that this clam is capable to manage microalgal concentrations and might be a candidate species for pH reduction in saline-alkaline water ponds.  相似文献

The genus Muelleria is reported for the first time from China in this paper. The new diatom species M uelleria pseudogibbula sp. nov. was observed during a survey of diatoms from Zoigê Wetland, Sichuan Province, China. The morphological characters of this new species were documented by light and scanning electron microscope and compared with similar species. M. pseudogibbula is characterized by its lanceolate to linear-lanceolate valve outline with rounded apices, two longitudinal canals running parallel to each side of the raphe, proximal ends of the raphe deflected to the same directions and finishing before the first row of areolae, and curved distal raphe ends, forming two divergent branches.  相似文献
