The distant retrograde orbits (DROs) can serve as the parking orbits for a long-term cis-lunar space station. This paper gives a comprehensive study on the transfer problem from DROs to Earth orbits, including low Earth orbits (LEOs), medium Earth orbits (MEOs), and geosynchronous orbits (GSOs), in the bicircular restricted four-body problem (BR4BP) via optimizations within a large solution space. The planar transfer problem is firstly solved by grid search and optimization techniques, and two types of transfer orbits, direct ones and low-energy ones, are both constructed. Then, the nonplanar transfer problem to Earth orbits with inclinations between 0 and 90 degrees are solved via sequential optimizations based on the planar transfers. The transfer characteristics in the cases of different destination orbit inclinations are discussed for both the direct and the low-energy transfer orbits. The important role of the lunar gravity in the low-energy transfers is also discussed, which can overcome the increase of transfer cost caused by the high inclination of Earth orbits. The distinct features of different transfer scenarios, including multiple revolutions around the Earth and Moon, the exterior phase, and the lunar flyby, are discovered. The energy of transfer orbits is exploited to discuss the effects of close lunar flybys. The results will be helpful for the transfer design in future manned or unmanned return missions, and can also provide valuable information for selecting proper parking DROs for cis-lunar space stations.

A solution to the fixed-time minimum-fuel two-impulse rendezvous problem for the general non-coplanar elliptical orbits is provided. The optimal transfer orbit is obtained using the constrained multiple-revolution Lambert solution. Constraints consist of lower bound for perigee altitude and upper bound for apogee altitude. The optimal time-free two-impulse transfer problem between two fixed endpoints implies finding the roots of an eighth order polynomial, which is done using a numerical iterative technique. The set of feasible solutions is determined by using the constraints conditions to solve for the short-path and long-path orbits semimajor axis ranges. Then, by comparing the optimal time-free solution with the feasible solutions, the optimal semimajor axis for the two fixed-endpoints transfer is identified. Based on the proposed solution procedure for the optimal two fixed-endpoints transfer, a contour of the minimum cost for different initial and final coasting parameters is obtained. Finally, a numerical optimization algorithm (e.g., evolutionary algorithm) can be used to solve this global minimization problem. A numerical example is provided to show how to apply the proposed technique.  相似文献

Impulsive time-free transfers between halo orbits   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A methodology is developed to design optimal time-free impulsive transfers between three-dimensional halo orbits in the vicinity of the interior L 1 libration point of the Sun-Earth/Moon barycenter system. The transfer trajectories are optimal in the sense that the total characteristic velocity required to implement the transfer exhibits a local minimum. Criteria are established whereby the implementation of a coast in the initial orbit, a coast in the final orbit, or dual coasts accomplishes a reduction in fuel expenditure. The optimality of a reference two-impulse transfer can be determined by examining the slope at the endpoints of a plot of the magnitude of the primer vector on the reference trajectory. If the initial and final slopes of the primer magnitude are zero, the transfer trajectory is optimal; otherwise, the execution of coasts is warranted. The optimal time of flight on the time-free transfer, and consequently, the departure and arrival locations on the halo orbits are determined by the unconstrained minimization of a function of two variables using a multivariable search technique. Results indicate that the cost can be substantially diminished by the allowance for coasts in the initial and final libration-point orbits. An earlier version was presented as Paper AIAA 92-4580 at the AIAA/AAS Astrodynamics Conference, Hilton Head Island, SC, U.S.A., August 10–12, 1992.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of the transfer problem from a libration point orbit of the Earth–Moon system to an orbit around the Moon. The transfer procedure analysed has two legs: the first one is an orbit of the unstable manifold of the libration orbit and the second one is a transfer orbit between a certain point on the manifold and the final lunar orbit. There are only two manoeuvres involved in the method and they are applied at the beginning and at the end of the second leg. Although the numerical results given in this paper correspond to transfers between halo orbits around the \(L_1\) point (of several amplitudes) and lunar polar orbits with altitudes varying between 100 and 500 km, the procedure we develop can be applied to any kind of lunar orbits, libration orbits around the \(L_1\) or \(L_2\) points of the Earth–Moon system, or to other similar cases with different values of the mass ratio.  相似文献

A closed form solution to the minimum DVtot2{\Delta V_{\rm tot}^2} Lambert problem between two assigned positions in two distinct orbits is presented. Motivation comes from the need of computing optimal orbit transfer matrices to solve re-configuration problems of satellite constellations and the complexity associated in facing these problems with the minimization of DVtot{\Delta V_{\rm tot}}. Extensive numerical tests show that the difference in fuel consumption between the solutions obtained by minimizing DVtot2{\Delta V_{\rm tot}^2} and DVtot{\Delta V_{\rm tot}} does not exceed 17%. The DVtot2{\Delta V_{\rm tot}^2} solution can be adopted as starting point to find the minimum DVtot{\Delta V_{\rm tot}}. The solving equation for minimum DVtot2{\Delta V_{\rm tot}^2} Lambert problem is a quartic polynomial in term of the angular momentum modulus of the optimal transfer orbit. The root selection is discussed and the singular case, occurring when the initial and final radii are parallel, is analytically solved. A numerical example for the general case (orbit transfer “pork-chop” between two non-coplanar elliptical orbits) and two examples for the singular case (Hohmann and GTO transfers) are provided.  相似文献

This paper presents a method to construct optimal transfers between unstable periodic orbits of differing energies using invariant manifolds. The transfers constructed in this method asymptotically depart the initial orbit on a trajectory contained within the unstable manifold of the initial orbit and later, asymptotically arrive at the final orbit on a trajectory contained within the stable manifold of the final orbit. Primer vector theory is applied to a transfer to determine the optimal maneuvers required to create the bridging trajectory that connects the unstable and stable manifold trajectories. Transfers are constructed between unstable periodic orbits in the Sun–Earth, Earth–Moon, and Jupiter-Europa three-body systems. Multiple solutions are found between the same initial and final orbits, where certain solutions retrace interior portions of the trajectory. All transfers created satisfy the conditions for optimality. The costs of transfers constructed using manifolds are compared to the costs of transfers constructed without the use of manifolds. In all cases, the total cost of the transfer is significantly lower when invariant manifolds are used in the transfer construction. In many cases, the transfers that employ invariant manifolds are three times more efficient, in terms of fuel expenditure, than the transfer that do not. The decrease in transfer cost is accompanied by an increase in transfer time of flight.  相似文献

We suggest a new approach to solving the problem of finding the orbit of a celestial body from its three spatial position vectors and the corresponding times. It allows most of the perturbations in the motion of a celestial body to be taken into account. The approach is based on the theory of intermediate orbits that we developed previously. We construct the orbit the motion along which is a combination of two motions: the motion of a fictitious attracting center whose mass varies according to Mestschersky’s first law and the motion relative to the fictitious center. The first motion is generally parabolic, while the second motion is described by the equations of the Gylden-Mestschersky problem. The constructed orbit has such parameters that their limiting values at any reference epoch define a superosculating intermediate orbit with a fourth-order tangency. We have performed a numerical analysis to estimate the accuracy of approximating the perturbed motion of two minor planets, 145 Adeona and 4179 Toutatis, by the orbits computed using two-position procedures (the classical Gauss method and the method that we suggested previously), a three-position procedure based on the Herrick-Gibbs equation, and the new method. Comparison of the results obtained suggests that the latter method has an advantage.  相似文献

Analysis and design of low-energy transfers to the Moon has been a subject of great interest for many decades. This paper is concerned with a topological study of such transfers, with emphasis to trajectories that allow performing lunar capture and those that exhibit homoclinic connections, in the context of the circular restricted three-body problem. A fundamental theorem stated by Conley locates capture trajectories in the phase space and can be condensed in a sentence: “if a crossing asymptotic orbit exists then near any such there is a capture orbit”. In this work this fundamental theoretical assertion is used together with an original cylindrical isomorphic mapping of the phase space associated with the third body dynamics. For a given energy level, the stable and unstable invariant manifolds of the periodic Lyapunov orbit around the collinear interior Lagrange point are computed and represented in cylindrical coordinates as tubes that emanate from the transformed periodic orbit. These tubes exhibit complex geometrical features. Their intersections correspond to homoclinic orbits and determine the topological separation of long-term lunar capture orbits from short-duration capture trajectories. The isomorphic mapping is proven to allow a deep insight on the chaotic motion that characterizes the dynamics of the circular restricted three-body, and suggests an interesting interpretation, and together corroboration, of Conley’s assertion on the topological location of lunar capture orbits. Moreover, an alternative three-dimensional representation of the phase space is profitably employed to identify convenient lunar periodic orbits that can be entered with modest propellant consumption, starting from the Lyapunov orbit.  相似文献

This paper presents a numerical algorithm that can generate long-term libration points orbits (LPOs) and the transfer orbits from the parking orbits to the LPOs in the circular-restricted three-body problem (CR3BP) and the full solar system model without initial guesses. The families of the quasi-periodic LPOs in the CR3BP can also be constructed with this algorithm. By using the dynamical behavior of LPO, the transfer orbit from the parking orbit to the LPO is generated using a bisection method. At the same time, a short segment of the target LPO connected with the transfer orbit is obtained, then the short segment of LPO is extended by correcting the state towards its adjacent point on the stable manifold of the target LPO with differential evolution algorithm. By implementing the correction strategy repeatedly, the LPOs can be extended to any length as needed. Moreover, combining with the continuation procedure, this algorithm can be used to generate the families of the quasi-periodic LPOs in the CR3BP.  相似文献

A strategy is formulated to design optimal time-fixed impulsive transfers between three-dimensional libration-point orbits in the vicinity of the interiorL 1 libration point of the Sun-Earth/Moon barycenter system. The adjoint equation in terms of rotating coordinates in the elliptic restricted three-body problem is shown to be of a distinctly different form from that obtained in the analysis of trajectories in the two-body problem. Also, the necessary conditions for a time-fixed two-impulse transfer to be optimal are stated in terms of the primer vector. Primer vector theory is then extended to non-optimal impulsive trajectories in order to establish a criterion whereby the addition of an interior impulse reduces total fuel expenditure. The necessary conditions for the local optimality of a transfer containing additional impulses are satisfied by requiring continuity of the Hamiltonian and the derivative of the primer vector at all interior impulses. Determination of the location, orientation, and magnitude of each additional impulse is accomplished by the unconstrained minimization of the cost function using a multivariable search method. Results indicate that substantial savings in fuel can be achieved by the addition of interior impulsive maneuvers on transfers between libration-point orbits. An earlier version was presented as Paper AAS 92–126 at the AAS/AIAA Spaceflight Mechanics Meeting, Colorado Springs, Colorado, February 24–26, 1992.  相似文献

This paper proposes the use of doubly-symmetric, eight-shaped orbits in the circular restricted three-body problem for continuous coverage of the high-latitude regions of the Earth. These orbits, for a range of amplitudes, spend a large fraction of their period above either pole of the Earth. It is shown that they complement Sun-synchronous polar and highly eccentric Molniya orbits, and present a possible alternative to low thrust pole-sitter orbits. Both natural and solar-sail displaced orbits are considered. Continuation methods are described and used to generate families of these orbits. Starting from ballistic orbits, other families are created either by increasing the sail lightness number, varying the period or changing the sail attitude. Some representative orbits are then chosen to demonstrate the visibility of high-latitude regions throughout the year. A stability analysis is also performed, revealing that the orbits are unstable: it is found that for particular orbits, a solar sail can reduce their instability. A preliminary design of a linear quadratic regulator is presented as a solution to stabilize the system by using the solar sail only. Finally, invariant manifolds are exploited to identify orbits that present the opportunity of a ballistic transfer directly from low Earth orbit.  相似文献

A study has been made of optimum transfers between elliptic and non-coplanar circular orbits having a common centre of attraction and whose planes intersect along the major axis of the ellipse. Elliptic transfer paths with up to three apsidal impulses are considered, with the whole plane change taking place at the (coincident) apocentres of these paths.

For three-impulse transfers, the optimum mode is always to transfer from the pericentre of the elliptic orbit to the circular orbit, or vice-versa. For the two-impulse “tilted-Hohmann” type of transfer, the optimum mode for the ellipse-in-circle arrangement of initial and final orbits is also to transfer from pericentre to circle; but the optimum mode is from apocentre to circle for both the circle-in-ellipse and overlap arrangements.  相似文献

The problem of two-body linearized periodic relative orbits with eccentric reference orbits is studied in this paper. The periodic relative orbit in the target-orbital coordinate system can be used in fly-around and formation-flying orbit design. Based on the closed-form solutions to the Tschauner–Hempel equations, the initial condition for periodic relative orbits is obtained. Then the minimum-fuel periodic-orbit condition with a single impulse is analytically derived for given initial position and velocity vectors. When considering the initial coasting time, the impulse position of the global minimum-fuel periodic orbit is proved to be near to the perigee of the target and can be obtained by numerical optimization algorithms. Moreover, the condition for a special periodic orbit, i.e., the rectilinear relative orbit in the target-orbital frame, is obtained. Numerical simulations are used to demonstrate the efficacy of the method, and show the geometry of the periodic relative orbit and the rectilinear relative orbit.  相似文献

Based on the theory of intermediate orbits developed earlier by the author of this paper, a new approach is proposed to the solution of the problem of finding the orbit of a celestial body with the use of two position vectors of this body and the corresponding time interval. This approach makes it possible to take into account the main part of perturbations. The orbit is constructed, the motion along which is a combination of two motions: the uniform motion along a straight line of a fictitious attracting center, whose mass varies according to the first Meshchersky law, and the motion around this center. The latter is described by the equations of the Gylden–Meshchersky problem. The parameters of the constructed orbit are chosen so that their limiting values at any reference epoch determine a superosculating intermediate orbit with third-order tangency. The accuracy of approximation of the perturbed motion by the orbits calculated by the classical Gauss method and the new method is illustrated by an example of the motion of the unusual minor planet 1566 Icarus. Comparison of the results obtained shows that the new method has obvious advantages over the Gauss method. These advantages are especially prominent in cases where the angular distances between the reference positions are small.

Lawden’s primer vector theory gives a set of necessary conditions that characterize the optimality of a transfer orbit, defined accordingly to the possibility of adding mid-course corrections. In this paper a novel approach is proposed where, through a polar coordinates transformation, the primer vector components decouple. Furthermore, the case when transfer, departure and arrival orbits are coplanar is analyzed using a Hamiltonian approach. This procedure leads to approximate analytic solutions for the in-plane components of the primer vector. Moreover, the solution for the circular transfer case is proven to be the Hill’s solution. The novel procedure reduces the mathematical and computational complexity of the original case study. It is shown that the primer vector is independent of the semi-major axis of the transfer orbit. The case with a fixed transfer trajectory and variable initial and final thrust impulses is studied. The acquired related optimality maps are presented and analyzed and they express the likelihood of a set of trajectories to be optimal. Furthermore, it is presented which kind of requirements have to be fulfilled by a set of departure and arrival orbits to have the same profile of primer vector.  相似文献

The theory of superosculating intermediate orbits previously suggested by the author is developed. A new class of orbits with a fourth-order tangency to the actual trajectory of a celestial body at the initial time is constructed. Orbits with a fifth-order tangency have been constructed for the first time. The motion in the constructed orbits is represented as a combination of two motions: the motion of a fictitious attracting center with a variable mass and the motion relative to this center. The first motion is generally parabolic, while the second motion is described by the equations of the Gylden—Mestschersky problem. The variation in the mass of the fictitious center obeys Mestschersky’s first and combined laws. The new orbits represent more accurately the actual motion in the initial segment of the trajectory than an osculating Keplerian orbit and other existing analogues. Encke’s generalized methods of special perturbations in which the constructed intermediate orbits are used as reference orbits are presented. Numerical simulations using the approximations of the motions of Asteroid Toutatis and Comet P/Honda—Mrkos—Pajdu?áková as examples confirm that the constructed orbits are highly efficient. Their application is particularly beneficial in investigating strongly perturbed motion.  相似文献

Spacecraft intercept using minimum control energy and wait time   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new approach to the minimum energy impulse intercept problem for spacecraft in orbit is explored. The types of orbits investigated in this paper are not restricted to a particular one. The constrained optimization technique is formulated with the universal variable, which is used to describe orbit information with sufficient accuracy for general types of orbits. Two optimization problems are posed. First, a problem for minimum velocity change and time of flight for intercept are investigated with the constraint on the final position of two satellites. Next, the so-called wait time is also added as an additional parameter to be determined. Although a closed-form solution is not obtained, the Newton iteration technique is successfully applicable. Finally, by numerically comparing the proposed solution to the Hohmann transfer, the suggested approach is demonstrated to be a feasible technique applicable to a broad class of orbit transfer problems.  相似文献

The smallness parameter of the approximation method is defined in terms of the non-dimensional initial distance between target and chaser satellite. In the case of a circular target orbit, compact analytical expressions are obtained for the interception travel time up to third order. For eccentric target orbits, an explicit result is worked out to first order, and the tools are prepared for numerical evaluation of higher order contributions. The possible transfer orbits are examined within Lambert’s theorem. For an eventual rendezvous it is assumed that the directions of the angular momenta of the two orbits enclose an acute angle. This assumption, together with the property that the travel time should vanish with vanishing initial distance, leads to a condition on the admissible initial positions of the chaser satellite. The condition is worked out explicitly in the general case of an eccentric target orbit and a non-coplanar transfer orbit. The condition is local. However, since during a rendezvous maneuver, the chaser eventually passes through the local space, the condition propagates to non-local initial distances. As to quantitative accuracy, the third order approximation reproduces the elements of Mars, in the historical problem treated by Gauss, to seven decimals accuracy, and in the case of the International Space Station, the method predicts an encounter error of about 12 m for an initial distance of 70 km.  相似文献

With the increase in complexities of interplanetary missions, the main focus has shifted to reducing the total delta-V for the entire mission and hence increasing the payload capacity of the spacecraft. This paper develops a trajectory to Mars using the Lagrangian points of the Sun-Earth system and the Sun-Mars system. The whole trajectory can be broadly divided into three stages: (1) Trajectory from a near-Earth circular parking orbit to a halo orbit around Sun-Earth Lagrangian point L2. (2) Trajectory from Sun-Earth L2 halo orbit to Sun-Mars L1 halo orbit. (3) Sun-Mars L1 halo orbit to a circular orbit around Mars. The stable and unstable manifolds of the halo orbits are used for halo orbit insertion. The intermediate transfer arcs are designed using two-body Lambert’s problem. The total delta-V for the whole trajectory is computed and found to be lesser than that for the conventional trajectories. For a 480 km Earth parking orbit, the total delta-V is found to be 4.6203 km/s. Another advantage in the present approach is that delta-V does not depend upon the synodic period of Earth with respect to Mars.  相似文献
