We consider radial periodic perturbations of a central force field and prove the existence of rotating periodic solutions, whose orbits are nearly circular. The proof is mainly based on the Implicit Function Theorem, and it permits to handle some small perturbations involving the velocity, as well. Our results apply, in particular, to the classical Kepler problem.  相似文献

For many years trajectory data have been treated as sequences of space‐time points or stops and moves. However, with the explosion of the Internet of Things and the flood of big data generated on the Internet, such as weather channels and social network interactions, which can be used to enrich mobility data, trajectories become more and more complex, with multiple and heterogeneous data dimensions. The main challenge is how to integrate all this information with trajectories. In this article we introduce a new concept of trajectory, called multiple aspect trajectory, propose a robust conceptual and logical data model that supports a vast range of applications, and, differently from state‐of‐the‐art methods, we propose a storage solution for efficient multiple aspect trajectory queries. The main strength of our data model is the combination of simplicity and expressive power to represent heterogeneous aspects, ranging from simple labels to complex objects. We evaluate the proposed model in a tourism scenario and compare its query performance against the state‐of‐the‐art spatio‐temporal database SECONDO extension for symbolic trajectories.  相似文献

Vorticity estimates based on porphyroclasts analysis are limited by the extrapolation to three dimensions of two‐dimensional data. We describe a 3D approach based on the use of X‐ray micro‐computed tomography that better reflects the real 3D geometry of the porphyroclasts population. This new approach for kinematic vorticity analysis in the Munsiari Thrust mylonites, the lower boundary of the Main Central Thrust zone (MCTz) in Indian Himalaya, indicates a large pure shear component during non‐coaxial shearing. 40Ar/39Ar ages of micas along the mylonitic foliation of the Munsiari and Vaikrita thrusts (the upper boundary of the MCTz) constrain thrust activity to 5–4 and 8–9 Ma, respectively. Available kinematic vorticity analyses of the Vaikrita mylonites suggest the dominance of a simple shear component. Combining these data, we suggest that the southward and structurally downward shift of deformation along the MCTz was accompanied by a progressive increase in the pure shear component in a general shear flow.  相似文献

The work at hand proposes a method for assessing, under reasonable hypotheses from an engineering perspective, the failure envelope of a pile group subjected to generalized loading conditions involving a vertical and a lateral force along with a moment. Following different assumptions of increasing complexity, a simple closed-form expression, which is however capable of considering also the strong dependence of sectional yielding moment on the axial force, is derived. The use of such formula, which allows a practical hand calculation of the interaction diagrams at failure, returns conservative yet very accurate results. As a follow up, with reference to reinforced concrete piles, design considerations involving both structural and geotechnical failure under lateral load are reported. It is found that for most cases, if steel reinforcement is established to resist the design bending moment, the geotechnical Ultimate Limit State checks are automatically satisfied.

A high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction study has been carried out on a P21/c natural Mg-rich pigeonite sample with composition ca. Wo6En76Fs18 using a diamond anvil-cell. The unit-cell parameters were determined at 14 different pressures to 7.14 GPa. The sudden disappearance of the b-type reflections (h + k = odd) and a strong discontinuity (about 2.8%) in the unit-cell volume indicated a first-order P21/cC2/c phase transition between 4.66 and 4.88 GPa. The P(V) data of the P21/c phase were fitted to 4.66 GPa by a third-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state (BM3 EoS), whereas the limited number of experimental data collected within the C2/c phase between 4.88 and 7.14 GPa were fitted using the same equation of state but with K′ constrained to the value obtained for the P21/c fitting. The equation of state coefficients are V 0 = 424.66(6) Å3, K T0 = 104(2) GPa and K′ = 8(1) for the P21/c phase, and V 0 = 423.6(1) Å3, K T0 = 112.4(8) GPa, and K′ fixed to 8(1) for the C2/c phase. The axial moduli for a, b, and c for the P21/c phase were obtained using also a BM3-EoS, while for the C2/c phase only a linear calculation could be performed, and therefore the same approach was applied for comparison also to the P21/c phase. In general the C2/c phase exhibits axial compressibilities (β c > β a >> β b) lower than those of the P21/c phase (β b > β c ≈ β a; similar to those found in previous studies in clinopyroxenes and orthopyroxenes). The lower compressibility of the C2/c phase compared with that of the P21/c could be ascribed to the greater stiffness along the b direction. A previously published relationship between P c and M2 average cation radius (i.r.) has been updated using all the literature data on P21/c clinopyroxene containing large cations at M2 site and our new data. The following weighted regression was obtained: P c (GPa) = 26(4) ? 28(5) ×  i.r (Å), R 2 = 0.97. This improved equation can be used to predict the critical pressure of natural P21/c clinopyroxene samples just knowing the composition at M2 site.  相似文献

Kveithola Trough, an E–W trending glacial trough in the NW Barents Sea, was surveyed for the first time during the EGLACOM cruise of R/V OGS-Explora in summer 2008. Swath bathymetry shows that the seafloor is characterized by E–W trending mega-scale glacial lineations (MSGL) that record a fast flowing ice stream draining the Svalbard/Barents Sea Ice Sheet (SBIS) during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). MSGL are overprinted by transverse sediment ridges about 15 km apart which give rise to a staircase axial profile of the trough. Such transverse ridges are interpreted to be grounding-zone wedges (GZWs) formed by deposition of subglacial till during episodic ice stream retreat. Sub-bottom (CHIRP) and multi-channel reflection seismic data show that the present-day morphology is largely inherited from the palaeo-seafloor topography at the time of deposition of the transverse ridges, overlain by a draping glaciomarine unit which in places is over 15 m thick. Our data allow the reconstruction of depositional processes which accompanied deglaciation of the Spitsbergen Bank area. The sedimentary drape deposited on top of the GZWs is suggested to have accumulated at a very high rate, (on average in the order of 1–1.5 m ka?1) and therefore may potentially preserve a high-resolution palaeoclimatic record of deglaciation and post-glacial conditions in this sector of the Barents Sea.  相似文献

The type and kinetics of metamorphic CO2-producing processes in metacarbonate rocks is of importance to understand the nature and magnitude of orogenic CO2 cycle. This paper focuses on CO2 production by garnet-forming reactions occurring in calc-silicate rocks. Phase equilibria in the CaO–FeO–Al2O3–SiO2–CO2–H2O (CFAS–CO2–H2O) system are investigated using PT phase diagrams at fixed fluid composition, isobaric TX(CO2) phase diagram sections and phase diagram projections in which fluid composition is unconstrained. The relevance of the CFAS–CO2–H2O garnet-bearing equilibria during metamorphic evolution of calc-silicate rocks is discussed in the light of the observed microstructures and measured mineral compositions in two representative samples of calc-silicate rocks from eastern Nepal Himalaya. The results of this study demonstrate that calc-silicate rocks may act as a significant CO2 source during prograde heating and/or early decompression. However, if the system remains closed, fluid–rock interactions may induce hydration of the calc-silicate assemblages and the in situ precipitation of graphite. The interplay between these two contrasting processes (production of CO2-rich fluids vs. carbon sequestration through graphite precipitation) must be considered when dealing with a global estimate of the role exerted by decarbonation processes on the orogenic CO2 cycle.  相似文献

Rainfall-induced landslide susceptibility zonation of Puerto Rico   总被引:9,自引:4,他引:5  
Landslides are a major geologic hazard with estimated tens of deaths and $1–2 billion in economic losses per year in the US alone. The island of Puerto Rico experiences one or two large events per year, often triggered in steeply sloped areas by prolonged and heavy rainfall. Identifying areas susceptible to landslides thus has great potential value for Puerto Rico and would allow better management of its territory. Landslide susceptibility zonation (LSZ) procedures identify areas prone to failure based on the characteristics of past events. LSZs are here developed based on two widely applied methodologies: bivariate frequency ratio (FR method) and logistic regression (LR method). With these methodologies, the correlations among eight possible landslide-inducing factors over the island have been investigated in detail. Both methodologies indicate aspect, slope, elevation, geological discontinuities, and geology as highly significant landslide-inducing factors, together with land-cover for the FR method and distance from road for the LR method. The LR method is grounded in rigorous statistical testing and model building but did not improve results over the simpler FR method. Accordingly, the FR method has been selected to generate a landslide susceptibility map for Puerto Rico. The landslide susceptibility predictions were tested against previous landslide analyses and other landslide inventories. This independent evaluation demonstrated that the two methods are consistent with landslide susceptibility zonation from those earlier studies and showed this analysis to have resulted in a robust and verifiable landslide susceptibility zonation map for the whole island of Puerto Rico.  相似文献

Abstract— A single orthopyroxene crystal from the Martian meteorite Allan Hills (ALH) 84001 was studied by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and electron microprobe analysis (EMPA) to retrieve information about its thermal history. Both sets of data were used to measure the Fe2+‐Mg order degree between the M1 and M2 sites expressed by the distribution coefficient kD. The 529 ± 30°C closure temperature (Tc) of the Fe2+‐Mg ordering process of ALH 84001 orthopyroxene (Fs28) was calculated using Stimpfl (2005a, 2005b) ln kD versus 1/T equation obtained for intermediate iron sample. At this Tc, the orthopyroxene cooling rate, calculated by Ganguly's (1982) numerical method, was 0.1 °C/day. This study puts new constraints on the last high‐temperature thermal episode recorded by orthopyroxene. With reference to the geological history (Treiman 1998), we ascribe this episode to the I3 event, and we interpret the Tc of 529 °C as a lower limit for this impact heating. Our data confirm that experimentally defined physical conditions for the formation of magnetite from decomposition of carbonates took place on the Martian surface during event I3.  相似文献
