Spatial objects can be interconnected and mutually dependent in complex ways. In Geographical Information Science, spatial objects’ topological relationships are not discussed together with their attributes’ dependencies, and the vagueness of spatial objects is often ignored during the spatial modelling process. To address this, a spatial fuzzy influence diagram (SFID) is introduced. Compared to the traditional statistical or fuzzy modelling approach, the influence diagram brings advantages in helping decision-makers structure complex interdependency problems. A questionnaire was developed to evaluate the applicability of using an influence diagram in modelling spatial objects’ dependencies. As a case study, an SFID is applied to tree-related electric outages. The result of the case study is represented as a vulnerability map of electrical networks. The map shows areas at risk due to tree-related electric outages. The results were first validated by using a visual comparison of the vulnerability map and electricity fault data. In the second validation step, the percentage of fault data, which has received values in different vulnerability categories, was calculated. The results of the case study can be used to support the decision-making process of electrical network maintenance and planning. 相似文献

The aim of this study is to assess the performance of linear discriminate analysis, support vector machines (SVMs) with linear and radial basis, classification and regression trees and random forest (RF) in the classification of radionuclide data obtained from three different types of rocks. Radionuclide data were obtained for metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous rocks using gamma spectroscopic method. A P-type high-purity germanium detector was used for the radiometric study. For analysis purpose, we have determined activity concentrations of 232Th, 226Ra and 40K radionuclides, published elsewhere (Rafique et al. in Russ Geol Geophys 55:1073–1082, 2014), in different rock samples and built the classification model after pre-processing the data using three times tenfold cross-validation. Using this model, we have classified the new samples into known categories of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. The statistics depicts that RF and SVM with radial kernel outperform as compared to other classification methods in terms of error rate, area under the curve and with respect to other performance measures. 相似文献

Flooding proves to be the most devastating and annihilating natural hazard in Pakistan. Existing flood management strategies are riveted primarily to the structural measures that contribute limited loss reduction capability at the national level. Non-structural measures are not part of regular practices, as the adopted design standards, which are probabilistic in nature, are unable to assess their feasibilities. An improved risk-based assessment using expected annual damages (EAD) is introduced in this article for the evaluation of combined impacts. EAD treat the probabilistic nature of losses and provide an extended visualization of risk distributions in the form of damage curves and expected annual damages distribution maps. The Chenab River floodplain was selected to study the coalesced response of embankments and flood zoning, preliminary in economic terms. In this regard, the impacts of all likely floods are considered instead of the traditional focus on a single design flood. Damage curves and maps are compiled using estimated losses and probabilities of all floods. Flood zoning for agricultural land is performed. The results support choosing a multidirectional conjunctive approach that considers multiple measures to reduce flood losses. These results can be used as a vital input for the decision-making process. 相似文献

Metamorphosed volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Jaglot Group are exposed along the west bank of the Indus River near Thelichi. The structural bottom unit, the Thelichi Formation, is composed of metavolcaniclastic, metavolcanic, metapelitic, and metacalcareous rocks. Bedding planes of the Thelichi Formation trend E–W or NW–SE and dip steeply to the N. The middle unit, Gashu-Confluence Volcanics, is composed of metavolcaniclastic, metavolcanic, and metacalcareous rocks. Bedding planes trend NW–SE and dip moderately to the N. The top unit, the Gilgit Formation, is composed of interlayered metapsammitic and metapelitic rocks. Graded bedding, cross-bedding, and pillow structures are preserved in these metamorphic rocks of the Jaglot Group. Those indicate clastic sedimentary and volcanic origins. There is no major repetition of layers due to folding (so-called “the Jaglot syncline”) as is evidenced by the consistent northward younging of the beds. The three lithological units constitute a north-dipping tectonic stack. The tectonic stack was provably caused by the northward subduction of the back-arc basin under the Asian margin and subsequent collision between the Asia and the Kohistan (the closure of back-arc basin). 相似文献

Quality of soil data is vital to formulate agricultural policies at different scales. Current agricultural applications in Pakistan depend however, on average values of soil estimates over larger areas. In this work, model-based ordinary kriging (OK) and Bayesian kriging (BK) to interpolate soil data is used. The aim is to compare the two different methods for the accuracy of soil data prediction. For this soils were sampled for Electrical Conductivity (EC, dS m –1) at 759 different locations in the rural agricultural areas of Qasur Tehsil, Pakistan. Cross validation was used to compare the performance of OK and BK. Our results show strong skewness and spatial dependency of soil EC values in heterogeneous regions. Box-Cox transformation successfully reduced the level of skewness in the soil EC data (from 14.1 to 0.11). Contrary to OK, under-estimation of soil EC values was not evident in the BK interpolation. Mean square prediction error for BK (1.45) was significantly reduced as compared to that for OK (6.1). Considering these findings, BK is a better model to explain the sub-regional soil EC variability and estimating strategies for sustainable agricultural planning in Pakistan. 相似文献

The Indian subcontinent has been colliding against Asia along the Himalayas. Hindu Kush and Burma in this collision zone have intermediate-depth seismicities beneath them, with most of the continental crust subducted into a few hundred km depth. The subduction, not collision, in these regions is an enigma long time. We show that the continental lithosphere subducted beneath Hindu Kush and Burma traveled over the Reunion and Kerguelen hotspots from 100 Ma to 126 Ma and is likely to have been metasomatized by upwelling plumes beneath those hotspots. The devolatilization of the metasomatized lithosphere impinging on the collision boundary would have provided a high pore fluid pressure ratio at the thrust zones and made the subduction of the continental lithosphere in these regions possible. The subducted lithosphere could give intermediate-depth seismicities by devolatilization embrittlement. Such subduction of hotspot-affected lithosphere without accompanying any oceanic plate would be one candidate for producing ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks by deep subduction of the continental crust. 相似文献

The UV/H2O2 is one of the popular techniques in the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) and has been applied in the wastewater treatment during recent two decades. UV exposure on the H2O2 generate highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH?), which are used to degrade organic contaminants through oxidation processes in wastewater. This present study involves the estimation of hydroxyl radical rate constants of methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) mineralization at different temperatures by using UV/H2O2 in aqueous solution. Laboratory experiments have been conducted and the profile of MDEA mineralization has been established. The hydroxyl radical rate constants and the activation energy of mineralization process have been calculated. The estimated hydroxyl rate constants and the activation energy are in good agreement with those reported in the literature. 相似文献
