Abstract Mesozoic accretionary complexes of the southern Chichibu and the northern Shimanto Belts, widely exposed in the Kanto Mountains, consist of 15 tectonostratigraphic units according to radiolarian biochronologic data. The units show a zonal arrangement of imbricate structure and the age of the terrigenous clastics of each unit indicates successive and systematic southwestward younging. Although rocks in these complexes range in age from Carboniferous to Cretaceous, the trench-fill deposits corresponding to the Hauterivian, the Aptian to Middle Albian and the Turonian are missing. A close relationship between the missing accretionary complexes and the development of strike-slip basins is recognizable. The tectonic nature of the continental margin might have resulted from a change from a convergent into a transform or oblique-slip condition, so that strike-slip basins were formed along the mobile zones on the ancient accretionary complexes. Most terrigenous materials were probably trapped by the strike-slip basins. Then, the accretion of the clastic rock sequence occurred, probably as a result of the small supply of terrigenous materials in the trench. However, in the case of right-angle subduction, terrigenous materials might have been transported to the trench through submarine canyons and deposited there. Thus, the accretionary complexes grew rapidly and thickened. Changes both in oceanic plate motion and in the fluctuation of terrigenous supply due to the sedimentary trap caused pulses of accretionary complex growth during Jurassic and Cretaceous times. In the Kanto Mountains, three tectonic phases are recognized, reflecting the changes of the consuming direction of the oceanic plates along the eastern margin of the Asian continent. These are the Early Jurassic to early Early Cretaceous right-angle subduction of the Izanagi Plate, the Early to early Late Cretaceous strike-slip movement of the Izanagi and Kula Plates, and the late Late Cretaceous right-angle subduction of the Kula Plate.  相似文献

The subject of our study was Awaji Island, an island located in the west of Japan that is surrounded by sea and that has serious problems relating to coastal debris. We conducted a long-term investigation focusing on three beaches and evaluated the results. The study was designed to develop an understanding of the actual situation, to inform local citizens, and raise their concerns about the problem of debris with a view to taking action against it. We obtained the following results: the amount, type, and ratio of debris changed according to weather and ocean conditions; debris also differs according to geographical conditions; social and economic activities of the surrounding area influence the type of debris encountered. Following this study, we have continued our investigation, and are continuing to gather data. At the same time, it is important to spread our ideas and enlighten people so as to encourage them not to dump debris. We hope that these actions manage to raise the level of consciousness among local citizens and to expand their anti-debris activities.  相似文献

The chemical desorption of an adsorbed CO molecule in the vicinity of H2-forming sites on cosmic dust grains in cold dense clouds is investigated theoretically, mainly using a model based on a classical molecular dynamics computational simulation. As a model surface for icy mantles of dust grains, an amorphous water ice slab is generated at 10 K, and the first and the second H atoms are thrown on to the model surface to reproduce the recombination process of the two H atoms, H+H→H2. Then, the time and space dependence of the local temperature increase of icy mantles caused by the release of H2 formation energy in the vicinity of H2-forming sites is examined. It is found that icy mantles are heated locally up to about 30 K in the surface region at R 4 Å and about 20 K at 4 R 6 Å, where R is the distance from the H2-forming site. The critical temperature of CO desorption is estimated to be about 20–30 K under conditions in typical dense clouds, which might be seen to be comparable to the above result. However, the lifetime of local heating of icy mantles is found to be too short, compared with the time-scale of CO desorption (1013 s) and that for H2 forming in the vicinity of an adsorbed CO molecule (more than 2×1013 s). Thus, it is found that the efficiency of chemical desorption of CO on a large dust grain is negligible. On the other hand, chemical desorption can occur on a small dust grain with size less than 20 Å.  相似文献

We study the evolution of globular clusters with mass spectra under the influence of the steady Galactic tidal field, including the effects of velocity anisotropy. Similarly to single-mass models, velocity anisotropy develops as the cluster evolves, but the degree of anisotropy is much smaller than in isolated clusters. Except for very early epochs of the cluster evolution, the velocity distributions of nearly all mass components become tangentially anisotropic at the outer parts. We examine how the mass function (MF) changes in time. Specifically, we find that the power-law index of the MF decreases monotonically with the total mass of the cluster, in agreement with previous findings based on isotropic models or N -body studies. This is also consistent with the behaviour of the observed slopes of MFs for a limited number of clusters. We attempt to compare our results with multimass King models, although it is almost impossible to fit the entire density profiles for all mass components. When the MF is fixed, the central densities of individual components show significant differences between Fokker–Planck and King models. We obtain 'best-fitting' multimass King models, for which the central density of individual components as well as the total density distribution agrees with the Fokker–Planck models by adjusting the MF. The MFs obtained in this way closely resemble the MF within the half-mass radius of the Fokker–Planck result. Also, we find that the local MFs predicted by Fokker–Planck calculations vary more rapidly with radius than best-fitting multimass King models. The projected velocity profiles for anisotropic models show significant flattening toward the tidal radius compared with the isotropic model. This is caused by the fact that the tangential velocity dispersion becomes dominant at the outer parts. Such a behaviour of velocity profile appears to be consistent with the observed profiles of the collapsed cluster M15.  相似文献

We investigated dam behaviours during high-flow events and their robustness against perturbations in meteorological conditions using the H08 global hydrological model. Differences in these behaviours were examined by comparing simulation runs, with and without dams and using multiple meteorological datasets, at a case-study site, Fort Peck Dam on the Missouri River, USA. The results demonstrated that dam-regulated river flow reduced temporal variability over large time periods and also dampened inter-forcing discrepancies in river discharge (smoothing effects). However, during wet years, differences in peak flow were accentuated downstream of the dam, resulting in divergence in simulated peak flow across the meteorological forcing (pulsing effect). The pulsing effect was detected at other major dams in global simulations. Depending upon the meteorological forcing, the dams act as a selective filter against high-flow events. Synergy between a generic dam scheme and differences in meteorological forcing data might introduce additional uncertainties in global hydrological simulations.  相似文献

The authors developed a semi‐active hydraulic damper (SHD) and installed it in an actual building in 1998. This was the first application of a semi‐active structural control system that can control a building's response in a large earthquake by continuously changing the device's damping coefficient. A forced vibration test was carried out by an exciter with a maximum force of 100 kN to investigate the building's vibration characteristics and to determine the system's performance. As a result, the primary resonance frequency and the damping ratio of a building that the SHDs were not jointed to, decreased as the exciting force increased due to the influence of non‐linear members such as PC curtain walls. The equivalent damping ratio was estimated by approximating the resonance curves using the steady‐state response of the SDOF bilinear hysteretic system. After the eight SHDs were jointed to the building, the system's performance was identified by a response control test for steady‐state vibration. The elements that composed the semi‐active damper system demonstrated the specified performance and the whole system operated well. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

An earthquake with the moment magnitude M w ?=?5.8 occurred in the middle part of the Sakhalin Island, Russian Federation, on 14 August 2016, at 11:17 a.m. UTC. The earthquake source was located west of the Central Sakhalin Fault Zone, which is considered to mark the boundary between the Okhotsk and Eurasian (Amurian) plates. Moment tensor solution of the mainshock as well as the configuration of aftershock cloud suggests that the earthquake was caused by slip on a SW-dipping reverse fault. For the first time for Sakhalin, we have got the felt reports unified in accordance with DYFI. We also analyzed observed PGA values and, based on them, produced shaking maps.  相似文献

The stratigraphy of tsunami deposits along the Japan Sea, southwest Hokkaido, northern Japan, reveals tsunami recurrences in this particular area. Sandy tsunami deposits are preserved in small valley plains, whereas gravelly deposits of possible tsunami origin are identified in surficial soils covering a Holocene marine terrace and a slope talus. At least five horizons of tsunami events can be defined in the Okushiri Island, the youngest of which immediately overlies the Ko‐d tephra layer (1640 AD) and was likely formed by the historical Oshima‐Ohshima tsunami in 1741 AD. The four older tsunami deposits, dated using accelerator mass spectrometry 14C, were formed at around the 12th century, 1.5–1.6, 2.4–2.6, and 2.8–3.1 ka, respectively. Tsunami sand beds of the 1741 AD and circa 12th century events are recognized in the Hiyama District of Hokkaido Island, but the older tsunami deposits are missing. The deposits of these two tsunamis are found together at the same sites and distributed in regions where wave heights of the 1993 tsunami (Hokkaido Nansei‐oki earthquake, Mw = 7.7) were less than 3 m. Thus, the 12th century tsunami waves were possibly generated near the south of Okushiri Island, whereas the 1993 tsunami was generated towards the north of the island. The estimated recurrence intervals of paleotsunamis, 200–1100 years with an average of 500 years, likely represents the recurrence interval of large earthquakes which would have occurred along several active faults offshore of southwest Hokkaido.  相似文献

边坡监测可为掌握边坡变形特征和规律提供依据,指导在边坡发生严重变形时的应急处理。白鹤坪边坡是三峡库区的典型边坡,依据边坡的变形特征定性地认为该边坡为潜在的推移式滑坡。1998年调查发现白鹤边坡存在一定的滑移,为了对其实施监测预报、预警,减轻因其滑动而引起的地质灾害,在该边坡上建立了由10个GPS观测点组成的边坡位移观测系统,以监测边坡的变形。本文以2014年5月至2016年4月近两年的白鹤坪边坡变形观测系统所获得的位移数据为基础,对边坡的位移变形进行了统计,并结合数值模拟分析了边坡的水平向相对位移。分析表明,在边坡由缓变陡处变形显著增加,边坡现处于基本稳定状态,其变形主要受降雨影响,每年汛期时(5-10月)边坡变形量偏高。其次为库水作用影响,江水对坡脚冲蚀,使边坡前缘局部产生了小规模崩滑现象。  相似文献
