The study of the complex geomechanical interactions that take place within a borehole environment of a nuclear-waste disposal vault is crucial to the long-term safety and efficiency of a waste emplacement scheme. This paper presents a theoretical investigation of the interaction between a container shell and the surrounding buffer region which can be induced by discontinuous movement at a fracture plane which intersects a disposal vault borehole. The theoretical studies presented in the paper illustrate the influence of factors such as the mechanical properties of the buffer, surcharge loads on the surface of the buffer, and characteristics of the buffer-container and buffer-rock interfaces, on the stresses that are generated in the container.  相似文献

The problem of the axial loading of a rigid disk-shaped anchor plate embedded in an isotropic elastic medium of infinite extent is examined. At the boundary of the disk anchor plate the elastic medium contains a cracked region of finite extent. The presence of the cracked region decreases the elastic stiffness of the anchor plate. The mathematical formulation of the problem is developed, and a numerical scheme is presented which can be used to solve the resulting coupled integral equations. The numerical technique is used to evaluate the results, which illustrate the manner in which the elastic stiffness of the anchor plate is influenced by the extent of cracking. Similar results are developed for the flaw shearing mode stress intensity factor at the external boundary of the cracked region.  相似文献

The paper examines the axisymmetric contact problem related to the indentation of a fluid saturated poroelastic layer by a smooth rigid punch. The layer rests in bonded contact with a rigid impermeable base and the surface of the layer is considered to be either permeable or impermeable. The paper develops the integral equations governing the problem for the generalized case where the pore fluid exhibits compressibility. The numerical results presented in the paper illustrate the influence of the relative layer thickness, drainage conditions and the compressibility of the pore fluid on the degree of consolidation settlement of the indenting punch.  相似文献

This paper examines the problem of the flexure of a strip of finite width which is embedded in bonded contact with an isotropic elastic medium of infinite extent. The analysis of the problem is applicable to flexible beams of narrow width which experience flexure only in the longitudinal direction. Numerical results are developed for the maximum flexural moment induced in the embedded beam due to the action of a concentrated force.  相似文献
