Outlier trimming and homogeneity checking/correction were performed on the monthly precipitation time series of various lengths from 267 stations in Turkey. Outlier values are usually found during dry summer months, and are concentrated mostly over the southern parts of the country, where the dry period is most pronounced, implying natural extremes rather than wrong measurements. Homogeneity analysis was done using the Standard Normal Homogeneity Test, on an individual monthly basis, which led to many non‐testable series due to lack of reference stations, especially during summer months. Yet, remaining testable months were usually helpful for the assessment of homogenity, revealing a well distributed set of stations that proved to be homogeneous. There were still a number of stations which either could not be tested efficiently, or were classified as inhomogeneous. Abstract– The Opportunity rover of the Mars Exploration Rover mission encountered an isolated rock fragment with textural, mineralogical, and chemical properties similar to basaltic shergottites. This finding was confirmed by all rover instruments, and a comprehensive study of these results is reported here. Spectra from the miniature thermal emission spectrometer and the Panoramic Camera reveal a pyroxene‐rich mineralogy, which is also evident in Mössbauer spectra and in normative mineralogy derived from bulk chemistry measured by the alpha particle X‐ray spectrometer. The correspondence of Bounce Rock’s chemical composition with the composition of certain basaltic shergottites, especially Elephant Moraine (EET) 79001 lithology B and Queen Alexandra Range (QUE) 94201, is very close, with only Cl, Fe, and Ti exhibiting deviations. Chemical analyses further demonstrate characteristics typical of Mars such as the Fe/Mn ratio and P concentrations. Possible shock features support the idea that Bounce Rock was ejected from an impact crater, most likely in the Meridiani Planum region. Bopolu crater, 19.3 km in diameter, located 75 km to the southwest could be the source crater. To date, no other rocks of this composition have been encountered by any of the rovers on Mars. The finding of Bounce Rock by the Opportunity rover provides further direct evidence for an origin of basaltic shergottite meteorites from Mars. 相似文献

This paper presents the results of the first high-resolution spectroscopic observations of the Southern W UMa type system IS CMa. Spectroscopic observations of the system were made at Mt. John University Observatory using a HERCULES fibre-fed échelle spectrograph in September 2007. The first radial velocities of the component stars of the system were determined by using the spectral disentangling technique. The resulting orbital elements of IS CMa are: AU, AU, , and . The components were found to be in synchronous rotation taking into account the disentangled line profiles of both components of the system. The Hipparcos light curve was solved by means of the Wilson–Devinney method supplemented with a Monte Carlo type algorithm. The radial velocity curve solutions including the proximity effects give the mass ratio of the system as 0.297 ± 0.001. The combination of the Hipparcos light and radial velocity curve solutions give the following absolute parameters of the components: and . The distance to IS CMa was calculated as pc using the distance modulus with corrections for interstellar extinction. The position of the components of IS CMa in the HR diagram are also discussed: the system seems to have an age of 1.6 Gyr. 相似文献

We present elemental and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic data for the magmatic suite (~79 Ma) of the Harşit pluton, from the Eastern Pontides
(NE Turkey), with the aim of determining its magma source and geodynamic evolution. The pluton comprises granite, granodiorite,
tonalite and minor diorite (SiO2 = 59.43–76.95 wt%), with only minor gabbroic diorite mafic microgranular enclaves in composition (SiO2 = 54.95–56.32 wt%), and exhibits low Mg# (<46). All samples show a high-K calc-alkaline differentiation trend and I-type
features. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns are fractionated [(La/Yb)
n
= 2.40–12.44] and display weak Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.30–0.76). The rocks are characterized by enrichment of LILE and depletion
of HFSE. The Harşit host rocks have weak concave-upward REE patterns, suggesting that amphibole and garnet played a significant
role in their generation during magma segregation. The host rocks and their enclaves are isotopically indistinguishable. Sr–Nd
isotopic data for all of the samples display I

Nd(79 Ma) = −4.4 to −3.3, with T
DM = 1.09–1.36 Ga. The lead isotopic ratios are (206Pb/204Pb) = 18.79–18.87, (207Pb/204Pb) = 15.59–15.61 and (208Pb/204Pb) = 38.71–38.83. These geochemical data rule out pure crustal-derived magma genesis in a post-collision extensional stage
and suggest mixed-origin magma generation in a subduction setting. The melting that generated these high-K granitoidic rocks
may have resulted from the upper Cretaceous subduction of the Izmir–Ankara–Erzincan oceanic slab beneath the Eurasian block
in the region. The back-arc extensional events would have caused melting of the enriched subcontinental lithospheric mantle
and formed mafic magma. The underplating of the lower crust by mafic magmas would have played a significant role in the generation
of high-K magma. Thus, a thermal anomaly induced by underplated basic magma into a hot crust would have caused partial melting
in the lower part of the crust. In this scenario, the lithospheric mantle-derived basaltic melt first mixed with granitic
magma of crustal origin at depth. Then, the melts, which subsequently underwent a fractional crystallization and crustal assimilation
processes, could ascend to shallower crustal levels to generate a variety of rock types ranging from diorite to granite. Sr–Nd
isotope modeling shows that the generation of these magmas involved ~65–75% of the lower crustal-derived melt and ~25–35%
of subcontinental lithospheric mantle. Further, geochemical data and the Ar–Ar plateau age on hornblende, combined with regional
studies, imply that the Harşit pluton formed in a subduction setting and that the back-arc extensional period started by least

Surface rupture and source fault of the 20 February 1956 Eskişehir earthquake have been a matter of debate that potentially
contributes towards the understanding of the active deformation and seismic risk in the highly populated NW Anatolia. Field
observations on the two fault segments (namely Kavacık and Uludere faults) in the north of the Eskişehir graben revealed evidences
of co-seismic surface rupture and mass movements during the Eskişehir earthquake. Surface rupture was observed as a 2.5m wide,
a 100m long and ca. 20 cm deep asymmetric depression in the Gümüşlü valley, 2 km east of the Uludere village. A trench dug
on this depression confirms a prominent high-angle south dipping fault (dominantly left lateral strike slip) and two faint
north-dipping antithetics as clear noticeable shear zones in organic-rich thick soil. Mass failures are particularly observed
in spring depressions filled with loose torrent and carbonaceous material in front of the fault scarp. Some rock slides of
several tens of meters in size that obviously require significantly high ground shaking were also developed on steep fault
scarps. The orientation of the principal stress tensor as deduced from the surface rupture of the Eskişehir earthquake displays
clear inconsistency with the geometry of prominent faults in the area. We concluded that this disagreement may be explained
by a curved surface rupture. The western and eastern tips of this rupture are EW trending and the probable NW-running part
in the middle would correspond to the bounding zone between two right-stepping faults. 相似文献

Geologic uncertainties and limited well data often render recovery forecasting a difficult undertaking in typical appraisal
and early development settings. Recent advances in geologic modeling algorithms permit automation of the model generation
process via macros and geostatistical tools. This allows rapid construction of multiple alternative geologic realizations.
Despite the advances in geologic modeling, computation of the reservoir dynamic response via full-physics reservoir simulation
remains a computationally expensive task. Therefore, only a few of the many probable realizations are simulated in practice.
Experimental design techniques typically focus on a few discrete geologic realizations as they are inherently more suitable
for continuous engineering parameters and can only crudely approximate the impact of geology. A flow-based pattern recognition
algorithm (FPRA) has been developed for quantifying the forecast uncertainty as an alternative. The proposed algorithm relies
on the rapid characterization of the geologic uncertainty space represented by an ensemble of sufficiently diverse static
model realizations. FPRA characterizes the geologic uncertainty space by calculating connectivity distances, which quantify
how different each individual realization is from all others in terms of recovery response. Fast streamline simulations are
employed in evaluating these distances. By applying pattern recognition techniques to connectivity distances, a few representative
realizations are identified within the model ensemble for full-physics simulation. In turn, the recovery factor probability
distribution is derived from these intelligently selected simulation runs. Here, FPRA is tested on an example case where the
objective is to accurately compute the recovery factor statistics as a function of geologic uncertainty in a channelized turbidite
reservoir. Recovery factor cumulative distribution functions computed by FPRA compare well to the one computed via exhaustive

We present a study of the inneralpine basin of Hopfgarten focused on the analysis of basin fill in order to reveal its formation
in relation to paleo-ice flow and tectonics. The study is based on geological mapping as well as seismic (reflection and refraction)
and geoelectrical surveys. The oldest sequence in the basin, identified by seismic stratigraphy at 400 m below surface, consists
of coarse grained sediments of supposedly Oligocene to Miocene age, which subsided along faults linked to the Inn fault. Three
superimposed sequences, each displaying baselaps in contact with a subglacially formed unconformity and sigmoid foresets,
show pleniglacial conditions followed by a glaciolacustrine environment. The uppermost of these three sequences lies on top
of last glacial maximum till (LGM; Würmian Pleniglacial; MIS 2) and represents Termination I. The middle sequence is classified
as Termination II following the Rissian Pleniglacial (MIS 6). The oldest glacial sequence cannot be constrained chronostratigraphically
but might correlate with Termination V following the major glaciation of MIS 12. Limited glacial erosion during the LGM occurred
only during the ice build-up phase. Further overdeepening was impeded due to topographic barrier and mutual blockades of glaciers
within this highly dissected landscape. The occurrence and relative timing of the impediment was controlled by the onset of
transfluences and thus by the altitude of coles. The higher amount of overdeepening during older glacial periods is explained
by longer phases of free ice advance in the ice build up phase due to higher transfluences routes at that time. Thus, the
preservation of older Pleistocene sequences within the basin may be the result of the lowering of watersheds from one glaciation
to the next. Our model of an inverse relationship between glacial shaping of the surface and the subsurface may apply to similar

A critical requirement for an effective and coordinated response by public entities tasked with management, security, and relief during large-scale public events or natural disasters is the availability of current situational information. However, today there is a lack of comprehensive operational systems allowing a near-real-time (NRT) collection, visualization, and provision of situational information for larger areas. In this study a methodological framework is proposed, which allows an NRT extraction and visualization of situational information based on aerial image acquisition. The framework combines digital image analysis using a generic supervised information extraction approach based on statistical modeling with a downstream web-based visualization component realized through an automatic update of web services. Even though being applicable for different scenarios, the workflow will be demonstrated for the specific use-case of a NRT monitoring of open spaces including assembly and parking areas. Compared to other approaches, image analysis results indicate a high robustness and a low demand for computational power sources (7 seconds per image). Due to a high degree of automation, the proposed workflow contributes to a NRT ‘end-to-end’ monitoring system, which was developed within the VABENE (German acronym for ‘traffic management under large-scale public events and disaster conditions’) project covering all parts from the acquisition of raw aerial imagery to the dissemination of information products to end-users. 相似文献

Using hydrogeochemical analysis of two large boreal rivers (pristine Kalix and hydropower regulated Lule) discharging into the Gulf of Bothnia, the major impacts of regulation on water discharge, element transport and their seasonal redistribution have been assessed. The pre-regulation hydrogeochemical features were assumed to be similar for the two rivers. For the Lule River, the average maximum runoff was almost halved, while the average minimum was tripled as a result of the regulation. The fraction of winter transport of total organic carbon (TOC), Fe, Si, suspended Mn and P in the Lule River was, according to a conservative estimate, two to three times higher than in the pristine river. Longer residence time in the Lule River delayed arrival of the suspended Mn peak and dissolved Si decline to the river mouth. During summer, the suspended C/N ratio in the regulated river was 10–20 compared to <10 for the pristine, suggesting presence of predominantly old organic material. This was supported by a virtually constant suspended P/Fe ratio throughout the year in the Lule River, indicating low abundance of phytoplankton. TOC varied irregularly in the Lule River suggesting temporal disconnection between the river and the upper riparian zone. The disappearance of the spring flow maximum, a shift of element transport from spring to winter and supply of mainly old organic material during the vegetation growth season may have a pronounced impact on the ecosystem of the Gulf of Bothnia and the river itself. 相似文献
