In the laboratory, reactions with flourine species proceed rapidly with high rates but under mesospheric conditions the effeciency of these compounds is low due to the rapid formation of HF and to the lack of reactivity of this species. Even if diffusion processes are included, the result of calculations leads to fluorie concentrations typically less than 20 cm?3. The low photodissociation coeffecient of HF leads to the expectation of a scale height of HF greater than or equal to the mean scale height. If the troposphere appears to be a sink for hydrofluoric acid, the maximum value of fluorine is obtained with a downward flux of 1.3 × 108 HF atoms cm?2 sec?1 at the level of the clouds.  相似文献

Diffusion coefficients for Si, Ti, Al, Na, K, Ca, Mg and Fe between pairs of glasses of basaltic, rhyolitic or phonolitic compositions have been determinated experimentally. This method involves the heating of coaxial cylinders of paired glasses under atmospheric conditions, over a range of temperatures from 900 to 1300°C, followed by microprobe analysis determination of the concentration gradients across the interface.The measured diffusivities are similar for all cations and range from 10?13 cm2/s at 900°C to 5 × 10?9 cm2/s at 1300°C. Depending mainly on the composition contrast, the diffusion is characterized by asymmetrical concentration profiles. This peculiar feature increases with temperature and chemical gradients across the contact surface of the glasses and leads to higher diffusion coefficients (D) in the more “basic” glass of a given pair. In the case of the rhyolite-basalt couple, this variation increases by a factor of about 10 at 1300°C. Diffusion dependence on temperature follows an Arrhenius equation which gives activation energies ranging from 65 to 85 kcal/mole. Assuming a constant and overall D for the two glasses we have attempted to apply our results to some geological examples such as exchanges between molten enclaves and liquids of contrasting composition.  相似文献

The energy conservation law, when applied to the Earth’s core and integrated between the onset of the crystallization of the inner core and the present time, gives an equation for the age of the inner core. In this equation, all the terms can be expressed theoretically and, given values and uncertainties of all relevant physical parameters, the age of the inner core can be obtained as a function of the heat flux at the core–mantle boundary and the concentrations in radioactive elements. It is found that in absence of radioactive elements in the core, the age of the inner core cannot exceed 2.5 Ga and is most likely around 1 Ga. In addition, to have an inner core as old as the Earth, concentrations in radioactive elements needed in the core are too high to be acceptable on geochemical grounds.  相似文献

The presence in the French–Italian Alps of several springs characterized by a high sodium–chloride content, depleted in oxygen-18, tritium free and with low carbon-14 activity, is well known. The geological, hydrological, and geochemical studies in progress for the new high-speed railway tunnel crossing the French–Italian Alps, show, in the drilled boreholes at a mean elevation of 700 masl, the presence of brines. Brines appear to be the basis of the geological, structural, and hydrodynamic systems, and fill the largest faults and the main tectonic contacts. Many estuaries in the world have been subjected to significant human impact since the 19th century. Natural infilling and human activities, including building of embankments, dikes and jetties have modified both the morphology of these estuaries and the distribution of sedimentary facies. The Seine, a macrotidal estuary, provides a good opportunity to study such modifications, as the latest morphosedimentary observations could be compared to old sediment maps as well as to geotechnical drilling data. In the mouth of the Seine, originally a sand/gravel system sediment distribution, has now been transformed into a muddy system. The result is a regressive sequence several meters thick. It is typically fining-up and corresponds to a shift from a distal term (pebbles, gravel, and coarse sands) at its base to a proximal term (mud and fine sands) at its top. Civil engineering works have reduced the available amount of space within the estuary, leading to an increase in the natural downstream shift of the depocenter of mud brought by winter river floods. The deposition area of the mud is today in the open marine zone, where waves and tidal currents render the balance of this process precarious.  相似文献

Geometric modeling of the geological layers in the Channel Tunnel area employed local variography and kriging for computing meaningful predictions and confidence intervals. The results were used to design the alignment of the tunnel, and tunneling was completed on March 28, 1991, 1 month ahead of the initial schedule. Data from 85 borehole pairs drilled during tunneling enable the geostatistical prediction to be compared with the reality, which is seldom possible. They fully validate the geostatistical approach.  相似文献

Questions related to the spatial integration of turbulent surface fluxes of heat and moisture up to horizontal scales of 100km are discussed. Results taken from the HAPEX-MOBILHY programme are presented, concerning either comparisons between surface-based and aircraft measurements, or estimates derived from numerical simulations of the large-scale hydrological balance, or finally area-averaged values obtained from atmospheric numerical mesoscale models. Conclusions are drawn from these results on how to estimate spatially-averaged surface fluxes efficiently.  相似文献

Dissociated dislocations have been observed for the first time by transmission electron microscopy in the perovskite-structure compound CaGeO3. Dislocations with Burgers vectors \(\left[ {1\bar 10} \right]\) and [001] (in pseudo-cubic index) are dissociated into collinear partials on the (110) plane: $$\left[ {1\bar 10} \right] = {1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 2}\left[ {1\bar 10} \right] + {1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 2}\left[ {1\bar 10} \right]$$ and [001] = 1/2[001] + 1/2[001]. The partials react to form octagonal extended nodes. The stacking fault ribbons with displacement vector \(\left[ {1\bar 10} \right]\) have a width of 350 A, which corresponds to a stacking fault energy of 35 erg/cm2 (or mJ/m2).  相似文献

A detailed topographic and geophysical survey of the Daiichi-Kashima Seamount area in the southern Japan Trench, northwestern Pacific margin, clearly defines a high-angle normal fault which splits the seamount into two halves. A fan-shaped zone was investigated along 2–4 km spaced, 100 km long subparallel tracks using narrow multi-beam (Seabeam) echo-sounder with simultaneous measurements of gravity, magnetic total field and single-channel seismic reflection records. Vertical displacement of the inboard half was clearly mapped and its normal fault origin was supported. The northern and southern extensions of the normal fault beyond the flank of the seamount were delineated. Materials on the landward trench slope are displaced upward and to sideways away from the colliding seamount. Canyons observed in the upper landward slope terminate at the mid-slope terrace which has been uplifted since start of subduction of the seamount. Most of the landward slope except for the landward walls aside the seamount comprises only a landslide topography in a manner similar to the northern Japan Trench wall. This survey was conducted on R/V “Jean Charcot” as a part of the Kaiko I cruise, Leg 3, in July–August 1984 under the auspices of the French-Japanese scientific cooperative program.  相似文献
