Evolution of close binary composed of a white dwarf primary and a Main-Sequence secondary has been calculated. Angular-momentum loss via gravitational radiation and magnetic stellar wind have been taken into account. We have found that magnetic stellar wind with a rate greater than (10–10–10–9)M yr–1 is able to drive the evolution with mass exchange. If the time-scale of switch-off of wind when the primary becomes fully convective is not longer than 106 yr, mass exchange interrupts due to a contraction of the secondary and the system becomes unobservable. Mass exchange resumes when components approach one another due to loss of momentum via gravitational radiation. The location and width of the thus-arising gap in the orbital periods are comparable to those observed.  相似文献

The infrared AOTF spectrometer is a part of the SPICAM experiment onboard the Mars-Express ESA mission. The instrument has a capability of solar occultations and operates in the spectral range of 1-1.7 μm with a spectral resolution of ∼3.5 cm−1. We report results from 24 orbits obtained during MY28 at Ls 130°-160°, and the latitude range of 40°-55° N. For these orbits the atmospheric density from 1.43 μm CO2 band, water vapor mixing ratio based on 1.38 μm absorption, and aerosol opacities were retrieved simultaneously. The vertical resolution of measurements is better than 3.5 km. Aerosol vertical extinction profiles were obtained at 10 wavelengths in the altitude range from 10 to 60 km. The interpretation using Mie scattering theory with adopted refraction indices of dust and H2O ice allows to retrieve particle size (reff∼0.5-1 μm) and number density (∼1 cm−3 at 15-30 km) profiles. The haze top is generally below 40 km, except the longitude range of 320°-50° E, where high-altitude clouds at 50-60 km were detected. Optical properties of these clouds are compatible with ice particles (effective radius reff=0.1-0.3 μm, number density N∼10 cm−3) distributed with variance νeff=0.1-0.2 μm. The vertical optical depth of the clouds is below 0.001 at 1 μm. The atmospheric density profiles are retrieved from CO2 band in the altitude range of 10-90 km, and H2O mixing ratio is determined at 15-50 km. Unless a supersaturation of the water vapor occurs in the martian atmosphere, the H2O mixing ratio indicates ∼5 K warmer atmosphere at 25-45 km than predicted by models.  相似文献

The most detailed information on the seasonal evolution of water vapor distribution in the Martian atmosphere was obtained by the Mars Atmospheric Water Detector (MAWD), which was a five-channel spectrometer operating aboard the Viking 1 and 2 spacecraft in 1977–1980, and from the very recent observations by the Thermal Emission Spectrometer (TES) on the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft. The TES results show a considerably larger amount of water vapor near the perihelion of Mars (summer in the southern hemisphere) than the estimates based on the MAWD data for this season, which is characterized by the development of global dust storms. The TES and MAWD instruments operated in different spectral regions (20–50 m and 1.38 m, respectively), and this could result in the aforementioned difference because of the effect of aerosol scattering on the intensity of the H2O bands, which becomes significant at short wavelengths. We considered the effect of aerosol scattering on the water vapor content measured in the 1.38-m band, taking into account the different geometries of observations, and restored the H2O content from the MAWD data with allowance for multiple scattering. We obtained a seasonal and spatial distribution of water vapor that showed better agreement with the TES data and, thus, indicated the stability of the hydrological cycle on Mars. Periodic structures, which could possibly be associated with the influence of the stationary planetary waves, are reliably revealed in the zonal distribution of the atmospheric water vapor. The seasonal variability of the wave structures correlates with variations of the latitude gradient of water vapor. An analysis of the basic parameters of a sample of radio and X-ray pulsars that are members of close binary systems is used to separate them into several families according to the nature of the pulsar companions and the previous evolution of the systems. To quantitatively describe the main parameters of close binaries containing neutron stars, we have performed numerical modeling of their evolution. The main driving forces of the evolution of these systems are the nuclear evolution of the donor, the magnetically coupled and radiation-induced stellar winds of the donor, and gravitational-wave radiation. We have considered donors that are low-mass stars in various stages of their evolution, nondegenerate helium stars, and degenerate stars. The systems studied are either the products of the normal evolution of close binaries with large initial component-mass ratios or result from inelastic collisions of old neutron stars with single and binary low-mass, main-sequence stars in the dense cores of globular clusters. The formation of single millisecond pulsars requires either the dynamical disruption of a low-mass (?0.1M) donor or its complete evaporation under the action of the X-ray radiation of the millisecond pulsar. The observed properties of binary radio pulsars with eccentric orbits combined with the bimodal spatial-velocity distribution of single radio pulsars suggest that it may be possible to explain the observed rotational and spatial motions of all radio pulsars as a result of their formation in close binaries. In this case, neutron stars formed from massive single stars or the components of massive wide binaries probably cannot acquire the high spatial velocities or rapid rotation rates that are required for the birth of a radio pulsar.  相似文献

A brief review of the observed parameters of binary systems with black holes is presented. We discuss in detail the evolutionary status of the X-ray binary GRS 1915+105, which contains a massive black hole. Numerical simulations of the evolution of GRS 1915+105 at the X-ray stage indicate that the most probable initial mass of the optical component (donor star) is (1.5–)M. Two possible scenarios are suggested for the evolution of the system prior to the formation of the black hole. If the initial mass of the optical component was (2.5–)M, the system underwent a common-envelope phase; in this case, the initial mass of the black hole progenitor did not exceed ~50M. If the initial mass of the donor was (1.5–2.5)M, a scenario without a common envelope is possible, with the initial mass of the black hole progenitor being smaller than ~50M. The lack of information about the initial mass-ratio distribution for binary components for small q and the uncertainty of the system parameters make it impossible to give preference to a particular scenario for the system's prior evolution.  相似文献

The influence of close passages of galaxies on the shapes of disk galaxies and the distribution of stars in them is studied for several types of interactions in the framework of the restricted N-body problem. Depending on the conditions adopted, either two spiral density waves or ring structures are formed in the stellar disk of the galaxy. These structures can generate star formation fronts with the corresponding shape, as are observed in disk galaxies. Our calculations can also be applied to study the influence of the passage of a nearby star on a protoplanetary disk. The formation of ring structures there could specify the type of planet formation in the outer regions of the planetary system and the distribution of semimajor axes for the planetary orbits. We use the same model to study the generation and evolution of spiral density waves in the stellar disks of galaxies as a result of the recently found asymmetry of the gravitational potential in the massive dark haloes in disk galaxies. The dipole component of the gravitational field of the halo can continuously permanently generate the spiral structure in disk galaxies.  相似文献

Routine determination of network magnitudes by means of the Eurasian homogeneous magnitude system (HMS) is described and tested on a selection of recent shallow earthquakes. The HMS earthquake magnitudes appear to be more accurate and more reliable than the conventional earthquake magnitudes used in the present seismological practice. A preliminary investigation of correlations between magnitudes determined from different wave types shows a possible dependence of the correlation on the type of focal mechanism of earthquakes.  相似文献
