The effect of naphthalene on lipid peroxidation and antioxidants status was studied in hepatopancreas, haemolymph and ovary of the Scylla serrata with reference to the active vitellogenic stage. There was an overall increase in lipid peroxidation activity in the tested samples. In contrast, the enzymatic (catalase, glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase) and non-enzymatic antioxidants (vitamins C, E and glutathione) showed decreased activities for hepatopancreas, haemolymph and ovary.  相似文献

A new digital radio spectrograph, the Madurai Solar Radio Spectrograph (MSRS), has been constructed at Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India, and is being operated at the Radio Astronomy Centre, Ooty in southern India to observe solar bursts in the frequency range 30–80 MHz. The operation of the new instrument is briefly described. Observations of solar bursts by this instrument and the results from the preliminary analysis are presented.  相似文献

Spatial and temporal distribution of chlorophyll a (chl a) and Total Suspended Matter (TSM) and inter comparison of Ocean Color Monitor-2 (OCM-2) and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro-radiometer (MODIS-Aqua) derived chlorophyll a and TSM was made along the southwest Bay of Bengal (BoB). The in-situ chl a and TSM concentration measured during different seasons were ranged from 0.09 to 10.63 μgl?1 and 11.04–43.75 mgl?1 respectively. OCM-2 and MODIS derived chl a showed the maximum (6–8 μgl?1) at nearshore waters and the minimum (0–1 μgl?1) along the offshore waters. OCM-2 derived TSM imageries showed the maximum (50–60 mgl?1) along the nearshore waters of Palk Strait and the moderate concentration (2–5 mgl?1) was observed in the offshore waters. MODIS derived minimum TSM concentration (13.244 mgl?1) was recorded along the offshore waters, while the maximum concentration of 15.78 mgl?1 was found along the Kodiakarai region. The inter-comparison of OCM-2 and MODIS chl a data (R 2 ?=?0.549, n?=?49, p?<?0.001, SEE?=?±0.117) indicate that MODIS data overestimates chl a concentration in the nearshore waters of the southern BoB compared to the OCM-2. The correlation between OCM-2 and MODIS-Aqua TSM data (R 2 ?=?0.508, N?=?53, P?<?0.001 and SEE?=?±0.024) confirms that variation in the range of values measured by OCM-2 (2–60 mgl?1) and the MODIS (13–16 mgl?1) derived TSM values. Despite problems in range of measurements, persistent cloud cover etc., the launch of satellites like OCM-2 with relatively high spatial resolutions makes job easier and possible to monitor chl a distribution and sediment discharges on day to day basis in the southwest BoB.  相似文献

Sediments from Kalpakkam, southeast coast of India were geochemically analyzed to document the provenance, tectonic setting, and role of chemical weathering. The sediments are dominated by quartz (Si), and the higher concentration of Si suggests the presence of quartz (±feldspar) dominated terrigenous sands. The study demonstrates that the sediments are derived from the granitic to gneissic or from a sedimentary source. Beach sediments are deposited in a passive continental margin setting and seabed sediments are deposited in active continental margin. In the A–CN–K diagram, most of the samples fall in the lower part, i.e., below the plagioclase feldspar joint which indicates a low degree of alteration. Only S6 falls just above the plagioclase feldspar joint, close to the AK boundary suggesting a slightly advanced weathering of sediment and source. Beach and seabed sediments lie close to CNK and FM region suggesting the presence of ferromagnesian minerals (likely to be pyroxene) except S6 which falls in the inner triangle of the minerals feldspar, garnet, and biotite in A-CNK-FM diagram. Both CIA and CIW values depict the unweathered nature of the sediments under humid to semi-humid climatic conditions.  相似文献

Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer data of Salem District and field-based spectral observations using SVC HR 1024 spectral radiometer is used to make a clear discrimination of ore mineral deposits in parts of Salem District of Tamil Nadu. Spectral analyses, one of the most advanced techniques, are used to discriminate the magnesite deposits in the central northern part of Salem District. Different spectral processes were used in ore discrimination, which include the following: (1) atmospheric correction (FLAASH), (2) minimum noise fraction and (3) pixel purity index preparation which helps in discrimination by matching these purest pixels with field spectral observations. Spectral angle mapper method is used to produce score between 0 and 1, where the value of 1 makes a perfect match showing the exact ore deposit in the study area. Using these techniques, we were able to find two ore deposits in the study area, i.e. magnesite and lateritic bauxite, recording different scores related to their abundance.  相似文献

Pulsars show intensity variations over timescales ranging from a few microseconds to a few years. Short-term intensity variations,i.e. those having timescales of a few minutes to a few hours had been difficult to study as their timescales are similar to those due to interstellar scintillations. We present here a method to separate the autocorrelation function of the short-term broadband intensity variations from that of the interstellar scintillations and thus overcome the above difficulty. The method assumes that the intrinsic variations are correlated over a bandwidth much larger than the decorrelation bandwidth for scintillations. Hence the ratio of the power in the variations due to the two causes depends on the bandwidth used. By applying the method to the intensity variations of 24 pulsars, we show that the presence of short-term intrinsic variations is very common in the radiation of pulsars. Quasi-periodicities were detected in the intensity variations of many pulsars, but their origin is not clear.  相似文献

Jupiter flux at 327 MHz was monitored using the Ooty radio telescope from July 12th to July 29th during the collision of comet Shoemaker-Levi 9 with Jupiter. Flux was found to increase steadily from July 17th to July 26th by ∼ 2–5 Jy, after which it declined to its pre-event value. The comparison of 327 MHz observations with those at 840 MHz and 2240 MHz indicates that the enhancement was mainly due to the increased synchrotron emission and the contribution of thermal emission was very small at metric-decimetric frequencies. The enhancement in radio emission was found to be more at 840 MHz than at 327 or 2240 MHz. The steepening of the spectrum between 327 and 840 MHz as well as between 2240 and 840 MHz was also noted.  相似文献
