Trace and rare earth element contents were determined by SIMS technique in clinopyroxene and mica crystals from minette lamprophyric enclaves in a potassic syenite host. This co-mingled system was crystallized at high pressures, which varied about 3–5 GPa, as indicated by the presence of K-clinopyroxenes and pyrope-rich garnet with measurable amounts of K2O and Na2O, among the near-liquidus phases. Major and trace element composition of these lamprophyric enclaves is quite similar to those observed in silica-rich lamproites, suggesting that similar sources were involved in their origin. In a general view, the concentrations of most trace and rare earth elements in clinopyroxene of the studied enclaves are higher than those referred to by other authors. Clinopyroxene/melt partition coefficient for most trace elements are close to determinations in alkali-basalts and lamproites from Leucite Hills, with considerable differences relative to Gaussberg lamproites. Furthermore, these partition data are completely different from those determined for potassic lavas crystallized under crustal pressures. Spidergrams for clinopyroxenes exhibit negative-Sr anomalies relative to LREE, which have been associated by most authors to crystallization under low-pressures, out of garnet stability field. The presence of pyrope together with K-clinopyroxene excludes such hypotheses for the studied enclaves. Y and HREE are concentrated in clinopyroxene, whilst the other trace elements have Kd<1. LIL elements, except Rb, have incompatible (Kd<1) behavior in phlogopite. The high partition coefficient for Nb (Kd>3) determined in the studied phlogopite is unusual in lamproites, lamprophyres, and basalts, but frequently observed in phlogopite from metasomatic mantle samples, as well as in acid magmas. This partition value may indicate the lack of other mineral phase with high partition for this element during crystallization, and may be enhanced by the liquid composition progressively closer to alkali feldspar, an unsuitable structure for six-coordinated cations. Ce/Yb, Rb/Sr, and Zr/Hf ratios in clinopyroxene and mica suggest that the minettic magma could produce the host Piquiri potassic syenite by fractional crystallization. This hypothesis is not consistent with Ba concentrations in clinopyroxene and mica, which suggest that a Ba-bearing phase (e.g. alkali feldspar) should be among the fractionated phases in order to produce the potassic syenites. 相似文献

—?Seismic responses of different sites of Barcelona have been investigated through numerical modelling. Geological maps and geotechnical data available from drillings for buildings and infrastructures have been used to determine the dynamical properties of the soils through different correlations between standard geotechnical data and dynamical parameters obtained in other regions. An estimation of the depth of the Palaeozoic basement has been obtained through an inversion of a detailed gravity survey. A 1-D equivalent linear method has been used to compute complete transfer functions and other spectral responses, such as PSA and PSV for various damping values, with the purpose of classifying zones with similar behaviour. Given the uncertainties associated with the input data, a Montecarlo's simulation process has been carried out. Four zones, characterized by their corresponding transfer function and by PGA amplifications, are proposed. The numerical results are compared with those previously obtained through microtremor measurements, showing that predominant periods derived from Nakamura's technique should be taken carefully. 相似文献

Summary The distribution of cloud radiative forcing (CRF) at the top of the atmosphere over the Indian Ocean is investigated using satellite observations. Two key regions are considered: The eastern Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal which experience maximum upper-level cloudiness in winter and summer respectively. It is found that longwave CRF in the Bay of Bengal during summer is similar to that over the eastern Indian Ocean during winter. On the other hand shortwave CRF magnitude is larger in the Bay of Bengal. These differences explain the net CRF difference between the two regions. The stronger shortwave forcing seems to be related to the Upper-Level Cloudiness being larger over the Bay than over the eastern Indian Ocean. The reasons for the longwave CRF similarities are analysed in more details. Using the results from a convective system classification method, it is first shown that the longwave radiative properties of the individual systems do not vary much from one region to another. The distribution of the different kind of systems, a proxy for the vertical cloudiness structure, does not either indicate strong difference between the regions. It is then proposed that the substantial precipitable water vapour amount observed over the Bay of Bengal damps the effects of the upper-level cloudiness on radiation compared to the relatively dryer eastern Indian Ocean area; yielding to similar LW CRF in both region despite more Upper-Level Cloudiness over the Bay of Bengal. These observations are supported by idealised radiative transfer computations. The distribution of cloudiness and radiative forcing is then analysed over the whole tropical Indian Ocean for each season. July is characterized by a low longwave CRF regime (relative to January) over the most convectively active part of the Ocean. The non linear damping effect of water vapor on longwave CRF is also shown to contribute to this regime. Overall, this study reaffirms the need for simultaneous documentation of the cloud systems properties together with their moist environment in order to understand the overall net radiative signature of tropical convection at the top of the atmosphere (TOA). 相似文献

Radon is considered one of the short- and immediate-term earthquake precursors by International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior. For this reason, the accurate and reliable measurement of its specific activity in soil gas is mandatory. Since its presence is influenced by many environmental factors, in order to eliminate this influence on the radon activity measurement a multi-parametric and multi-site analysis is necessary. Following this approach, a continuous radon monitoring was carried out in two sites of the Phlegrean Fields caldera (Campania, Italy) using the RaMonA system, which also allows for the measurement of temperature, relative humidity and pressure. In particular, the dependence of measured radon specific activity on the meteorological conditions was studied using the multiple linear regression method. The analysis was implemented also by testing data averages on different timescales. In this paper, the results of a preliminary analysis performed on data collected throughout 2012 are presented; the outcomes obtained allow to emphasize site-specific behavior and to discriminate apparent radon “anomalies” of climatic origin from those tied to the phenomena occurring in the earth’s crust. The method employed showed its usefulness by removing the effects of meteorological conditions and thus to better identify the possible radon anomalies caused by seismo-volcanic activity. An integrated approach combining swath bathymetry, an extensive dataset of vibrocores and high-resolution seismic reflection data was used to assess the origin and evolution of offshore sand ridges on a tideless continental shelf (Gulf of Valencia, western Mediterranean). The sand ridges are located in the mid-outer shelf at 55–85 m water depth, obliquely oriented to the shoreline. They are 1.5 to 7 m high, with a wavelength between 600 and 1,100 m and a mean height-to-wavelength ratio of 0.004. The sand ridges are composed of well-sorted medium sand and are partially covered by a mud layer, evidencing a moribund stage. They overlie an erosion surface that locally crops out at the seafloor and is interpreted as the Holocene wave-ravinement surface. In the sediment cores, this surface corresponds to an erosional lag composed of coarse sand and gravel with pebbles. Small topographic irregularities on this surface are interpreted as shoreline-associated features that may act as the precursor for ridge development. Their preservation within the sand ridges could be related to the hardness of these features. Internally, the sand ridges display high-angle dipping reflections, indicating ridge migration towards the southeast in the direction of the present-day sediment transport direction. The presence of interbedded mud layers, associated with these reflections, indicates intermittent episodes of mud deposition when active. The internal architecture of some small ridges also provides new insights into their transition from an active to moribund state, as evidenced by a change in the geometry of the internal units from progradational to aggradational, finally being overlain by onlapping finer deposits over the flanks and in the troughs. The Gulf of Valencia sand ridge field constitutes a valuable potential sand resource of 22 million m3 of well-sorted medium and coarse sand with limited mud content, which must be preserved as a strategic sand reservoir. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

234Th is a particle-reactive radionuclide widely used to trace biogeochemical oceanic processes occurring over short timescales. During the last few years, small-volume techniques based on the co-precipitation of 234Th with MnO2 coupled with beta-counting have been developed as an alternative to large volume gamma-spectrometric techniques. Here a procedure has been developed to enhance quantitative measurement of 234Th in MnO2 precipitates. The main objectives were to obtain a purified Th fraction for beta-counting and to determine the chemical recovery of 234Th using Th spikes and alpha-spectrometry as an alternative to ICP-MS based methods. Two variations of the procedure are presented. In the first “1 spike” method a 230Th tracer is added to the sample prior to precipitation of MnO2, and UTEVA® extraction chromatography is used to obtain a NdF3(Th) purified source that can be used for both beta-counting of 234Th and alpha-spectrometry of 230Th. In the “2 spike” method a 230Th spike is added and the MnO2(Th) precipitate is directly beta-counted for 234Th and subsequently spiked with 228Th or 229Th prior to UTEVA® purification and alpha-spectrometry. The results confirm the need to process small-volume seawater samples for 234Th measurement in presence of a yield tracer, and show that both the 1 spike and 2 spike methods allow an accurate and precise determination of 234Th (relative percent difference, RPD, between expected and mean measured value < 1%; CV between replicate samples < 3%). Our work also suggests that, although the combined analytical uncertainty on total 234Th measurements accomplished with both versions of the NdF3 procedure is promising (6% for 2-L samples), the precision of the 234Th flux estimation will ultimately depend on the degree of disequilibrium between 234Th and 238U. 相似文献
