A graph-theoretic data model, XRAG (eXtended Relational Attributed Graph), is described. The model and its associated data structure can be used to represent the structural properties (morphological and symbolic) of, and relations (spatial, topological, non-topological, quantitative and symbolic) between, discrete regions identified in a digital remotely-sensed image. The objective in developing this model is to allow second-order thematic information about the scene to be inferred from an analysis of these properties and relations. The paper briefly outlines the application of this model and an associated set of analytical techniques to infer land use from an initial land cover map derived from a digital remotely-sensed image.  相似文献

Three-component recordings of shear-waves in exploration surveys provide an opportunity to measure crustal anisotropy, which may be important in estimating the geometrical and physical parameters of reservoir rocks. VSPs are particularly important for this purpose as they are less subject to the complex interactions of the shear wavefield with the free surface. The first stage in characterizing the subsurface anisotropy requires that the distinctive phenomenon of shear-wave splitting must be examined for every arrival at each geo-phone. This effect may be defined by two parameters: the polarization of the leading shear-wave and the time-delay between corresponding split shear-waves. A variety of techniques have been designed to estimate these parameters of shear-wave splitting. Here, we classify the published techniques into four main categories and review their properties. Representative procedures from each group are applied to a common synthetic data set contaminated with signal-generated noise. The results allow some general statements to be made about the utility of these methods for processing shear-waves in VSP data.  相似文献

In-seam seismic surveys with channel waves have been widely used in the United Kingdom and elsewhere to map coal-seams and to detect anomalous features such as dirt bands, seam thinning and thickening, and particularly in-seam faulting. Although the presence of cleat-induced anisotropy has been recognized in the past, almost all previous analyses have assumed homogeneous isotropic or transversely isotropic coal-seams. Channel waves, however, exhibit properties which cannot be fully explained without introducing anisotropy into the coal-seam. In particular, Love-type channel waves are observed for recording geometries where, in a homogeneous isotropic or transversely isotropic structure, the source would not be expected to excite transverse motion. Similarly, modes of channel-wave propagation display the coupled three-component motion of generalized modes in anisotropic substrates, which would not be expected for Rayleigh and Love wave motion in isotropy or in transversely isotropic media with azimuthal isotropy. We model the observed in-seam seismic channel waves with synthetic seismograms to gain an understanding of the effects of cleat-induced anisotropy on the behaviour of channel waves. The results show a reasonable good match with the observations in traveltime, relative amplitudes, dispersion characteristics and particle motions. We demonstrate that anisotropy in the surrounding country rocks contributes significantly to the coupling of channel wave particle motion, although its effect is not as strong as the anisotropy in the coal-seam. We conclude that the effects of cleat- and stress-induced anisotropy are observed and can be modelled with synthetic seismograms, and that anisotropy must be taken into account for the detailed interpretation of channel waves.  相似文献

塔里木板块西南缘托云、奥依塔格晚侏罗世古地磁研究,获得了托云地区特征磁化方向:Ds=1.5°,Is=50.8°;古地磁极:λ=81.0°,ψ=247.0°,古纬度31.5°N。奥依塔格地区特征磁化方向:Ds=118.4°,Is=55.9°;古地磁极:λ=4.9°,ψ=120.6°,古纬度=36.4°N。从古地磁结果认为:①托云和奥依塔格相对托云地区产生顺时针旋转;②这两个地区古纬度为31°~36°左右,与塔里木平均古纬度30°N是基本一致的,但与现在纬度差达8°~10°左右,造成纬度差主要原因是构造运动造成的;③塔里木晚侏罗世古地磁亦与华北、华南基本一致,说明晚侏罗世塔里木、华北、华南三板块已联合成一个整体,拼合成统一的中国大陆,其位于热带—亚热带古气候环境。  相似文献

A review of the academic literature and British Geological Survey mapping is employed to produce a 'Glacial Map', and accompanying geographic information system (GIS) database, of features related to the last (Devensian) British Ice Sheet. The map (1:625 000) is included in a folder and GIS data are freely available by web download (http://www.shef.ac.uk/geography/staff/clark_chris/britice.html). Emphasis is on information that constrains the last ice sheet. The following are included: moraines, eskers, drumlins, meltwater channels, tunnel valleys, trimlines, limit of key glacigenic deposits, glaciolacustrine deposits, ice-dammed lakes, erratic dispersal patterns, shelf-edge fans and the Loch Lomond Readvance limit of the main ice cap. The GIS contains over 20 000 features split into thematic layers (as above). Individual features are attributed such that they can be traced back to their published sources. Given that the published sources of information that underpin this work were derived by piecemeal effort over 150 years, then our main caveat is of data consistency and reliability. It is hoped that this compilation will stimulate greater scrutiny of published data, assist in palaeoglaciological reconstructions and facilitate use of field evidence in numerical ice-sheet modelling. It may also help direct field workers in their future investigations.  相似文献

We use a frame-based simulation model to estimate future rate of advance of the arctic treeline in response to scenarios of transient changes in temperature, precipitation, and fire regime. The model is simple enough to capture both the short-term direct response of vegetation to climate and the longer-term interactions among vegetation, fire, and insects that are important features of dynamic vegetation models. We estimate a 150–250 yr time lag in forestation of Alaskan tundra following climatic warming and suggest that, with rapid warming under dry conditions, there would be significant development of boreal grassland-steppe, a novel ecosystem type that was common during the late Pleistocene and today occurs south of the boreal forest in continental regions. Together, the time lag and grassland development would delay the positive feedback of vegetation change to climatic warming, providing a window of opportunity to control fossil fuel emissions, the primary cause of this warming.  相似文献
