Surface drainage sediments were collected, between January and April in 2005, from 6 sampling sites in Peninsular Malaysia suspected to have received different anthropogenic sources. These drainages included sites near a petrochemical plant, an electronic factory, a metal factory and 2 townships in addition to a relatively unpolluted site (a reference site). Based on the aqua-regia method, the metal concentrations for all the sampling sites except for the agricultural site (reference site) at Sg. Benut were between 60.92-1 019 μg/g dry weight for copper (Cu), 65.32-1 266.6μg/g dry weight for plumbum (Pb), 1.46-15.93 μg/g dry weight for cadmium (Cd), 330.10-484.14 μg/g dry weight for zinc (Zn) and 47.03-120.90 μg/g dry weight for nickel (Ni). All of these ranges were significantly (p< 0.05) higher than those (Cu: 8.77 μg/g; Pb: 57.42 μg/g; Cd: 0.96 μg/g; Zn: 68.21 μg/g; and Ni: 17.87 μg/g) of the reference site at Sg. Benut that only received agricultural disposal. The concentrations for the 5 metals from all the sites (except for the reference site) were higher than the Sediment Quality Values for Hong Kong by Chapman et al (1999) for the 5 metals. Based on the sequential extraction technique, 3 geochemical fractions [easily, freely leachable and exchangeable (EFLE), acid-reducible and oxidisable-organic] were also useful in identifying these polluted sites. The elevated metal concentrations found in the sediments might be related to point sources of industrial effluent and urban waste. Hence, the results emphasized the necessity for the treatment of effluents into this drainage area. In a spoofing environment, a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver must employ anti-spoofing techniques for obtaining a normal navigation solution from the GNSS signal. We propose a new method for identifying spoofing signals using the norm of the difference of baseline vectors (NDB) obtained from multiple receivers. The main focuses of this research are to reduce the initial time required to identify the spoofing signal and to mitigate the physical constraints on multiple antennas placement. First, the multi-correlators of each receiver track both GNSS and spoofing signals simultaneously and classify them into two signal groups. Then, the baseline vectors are generated from the double-differenced carrier phase measurements of the classified signal groups, and the NDB is calculated. If the target positions of the spoofing signal groups are almost the same, the NDB has a fairly small value when the base position of the selected baseline vectors is calculated from one of the GNSS groups and the rover positions of the baseline vectors are calculated from each spoofing group of the multiple receivers. Using the NDB, a hypothesis is established, and a hypothesis test is conducted for identifying the spoofing signal. The performance of the proposed test statistics is analyzed with respect to the distance between the GPS antennas and the tuning parameter. Our experimental results show that the proposed method effectively performs spoofing identification with a short baseline. Additionally, the method exhibits a very low probability of fault detection and fast response time. This means that the immediate anti-spoofing can work properly in spoofing environments. 相似文献

The load distribution and deformation of rock-socketed drilled shafts subjected to axial loads are evaluated by a load transfer method. The emphasis is on quantifying the effect of coupled soil resistance in rock-socketed drilled shafts using 2D elasto-plastic finite element analysis. Slippage and shear-load transfer behavior at the pile–soil interface are investigated by using a user-subroutine interface model (FRIC). It is shown that the coupled soil resistance acts as pile-toe settlement as the shaft resistance is increased to its ultimate limit state. Based on the results obtained, the coupling effect is closely related to the ratio of the pile diameter to soil modulus (D/Es) and the ratio of total shaft resistance against total applied load (Rs/Q). Through comparison with field case studies, the 2D numerical analysis reasonably estimated load transfer of pile and coupling effect, and thus represents a significant improvement in the prediction of load deflections of drilled shafts. 相似文献

Partitioning tracer tests, as an alternative to the core sampling method, were conducted to quantify the degree of saturation
of water and nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPL) in the vadose zone. Hydrocarbon gases, which have less effect on global warming
than conventional tracers, were used as partitioning tracers. Column tests using CH4, C3H5, and C4H10 as non-partitioning and partitioning tracers were performed to determine the retardation factor and partition coefficient
of the tracer into water and NAPL. The retardation factors of these tracers were estimated to be in the range of 1.0–7.0 based
on breakthrough curves of the tracers. The partition coefficient of C3H5 to water and diesel phase was calculated to be 0.57 and 8.45, respectively. For a heavier tracer, C4H10, the partition coefficient to the water and diesel phases was 1.2 and 40.5, respectively. The average value of water and
diesel saturation estimated from column tests agreed well with known values in unsaturated soil. A residence time longer than
7.5 h within soil pores was found to provide local equilibrium partitioning of the tracer to the diesel phase. The concentration

To obtain the bistatic scattering function on the sandy ripple bottom, high-frequency bistatic sea-floor scattering measurements were made in the shallow waters off the east coast of Korea. A sand ripple field was present at the site, with wavelength generally in the 10-20-cm range. The mean ripple orientation relative to the direction of wave propagation was estimated to be roughly 20/spl deg/-30/spl deg/. Field experiments were made to measure forward (in-plane) and out-of-plane scattering from the ripple bottom. The measured scattering strengths were compared to the predictions of the APL-UW bistatic scattering model. Overall, forward-scattering strength measurements showed favorable comparison with the model predictions. The global scattering characteristics for the ripple bottom gave an augmented out-of-plane scattering. 相似文献

We describe the evolution of morphological features of the magnetic configuration of CME according to the catastrophe model developed previously. For the parameters chosen for the present work, roughly half of the total mass is nominally contained in the initial flux rope, while the remaining plasma is brought by magnetic reconnection from the corona into the current sheet and from there into the CME bubble. The physical attributes of the difference in the observable features between CME bubble and flare loop system were studied. We tentatively identified distinguishable evolutionary features like the outer shell, the expanding bubble and the flux rope with the leading edge, void and core of the 3-component CME structure. The role of magnetic reconnection is discussed as a possible mechanism for the heating of the prominence material during eruptions. Lake studies play an important role in water management, ecology and other environmental issues. Monitoring lake stages is typically the first step on the lake studies. However, for the Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) of North America with millions of small lakes and potholes, onsite measurements for lake stages are almost impossible with the conventional gage stations due to the limited accessibility to lakes and the requirement of economical and human resources. To overcome this limitation, we employed the remote‐sensing approach to extract lake stages in PPR for bulk processing. To estimate lake stages, several image‐processing techniques were used with the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data in January, 2000, a one‐time snapshot useful in historic lake level reconstruction. In this research, image processing techniques, for example, averaging, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Lee‐Sigma filtering were applied and masking with Canny Edge Detector (CED) and semi‐automated contouring were developed for lake stage estimation. In terms of simplicity, averaging might be useful if 1·5 m of the local bias for the study area in stage estimates. However, the FFT and Lee‐Sigma methods were slightly better than averaging. Masking with CED and semi‐automated contouring provided outstanding accuracy in the estimation. The masking and contouring methods provided ± 0·5 m of stage differences for relatively large lakes greater than 10 km2 when compared with stage reading in spite of their calculation complexities and was shown as the best approaches among implemented methods in this study.
