We show observational results on the pre-flare evolutions of H structures as well as the developments of H flares. It is shown that the chromospheric features are brought to a sheared state before flares due to motions of footpoints which correspond to particular sunspot motions. Generally in evolutions of the chromospheric features it is found that motions and reconnections of the footpoints play essential roles. The following three stages are found for development of the neutral line filament before flares: (1) formation of a filament as a result of reconnection; (2) increase of the shear of the filament due to the shear motion; and (3) reconnection of fine components of the filament to form an elongated component immediately before flares. We further show developments of two particular flares with and without the filament, and point out basic release processes of flares. The flare that occurred at the filament (July 5, 1974) started with the activation of the elongated component of the filament after the process (3). The main phase of a two-ribbon flare is considered as the rises of short components of the filament triggered by the rising motion of the elongated component. The flare of September 10, 1974 occurred at the region where fibrils connect the sunspots in distorted form. Pre-flare distortion was produced by translational rotation of the sunspot. Development of this two-ribbon flare is interpreted as being due to successive rises of the fibrils with a self-trigger mechanism.On leave from Tokyo Astronomical Observatory (present address). 相似文献

The size of the hard X-ray source in the Crab Nebula was observed with scintillation counters on board two balloons at a lunar occulatation on 24 January, 1975. The Gaussian width of the source is 34 (+17, –14) and the center thereof is offset from the pulsar by 6±4 at position angle 102°. The observed time profile can also be fitted to an alternative model of two line sources whose intensities are 48% at 11 and 25.5% at 7 on both sides of the pulsar.Paper presented at the COSPAR Symposium on Fast Transients in X- and Gamma-Rays, held at Varna, Bulgaria, 29–31 May, 1975. 相似文献

Observations of the total lunar eclipse were made at 3.4-mm wavelength (87.4 GHz) on March 24, 1978. Eclipsr cooling curves with the best S/N ratio among those published thus far were obtained for the three points (the mountain area near the crater of Hipparuchus, Sinus Medii, and Copernicus). Each of the curves can be decomposed into the three parts which apparently correspond to ingress, totality, and egress. Nutrient requirements of a red tide flagellate,Chattonella antiqua, were investigated in a laboratory culture experiment. Growth ofC. antiqua was supported by nitrate and ammonium, and by urea to a limited extent, but not by glycine, alanine and glutamate. Orthophosphate served as a good phosphorus source but glycerophosphate did not. Fe3+ (1µM) fully promoted the flagellate's growth in the presence of 80µM of EDTA. The addition of Mn2+ (0–20µM), Zn2+ (0–10µM) and Co2+ (0–0.4µM) did not show any effect. Among three vitamins tested, only B12 (6 ng 1?1) served as a growth factor. Glucose, acetate and glycolate did not improve growth in the light nor did they support growth in darkness. The minimum cell quotas for nitrogen, phosphorus, iron and B12 were estimated to be 11 pmoles ce?1, 1.0, ~0.09 and 1.1 fg cell?1, respectively. 相似文献

The present study proposes an atmospheric correction scheme for Advanced Earth Observation Satellite II (ADEOS-II)/Global
Imager (GLI) ocean color retrieval that corrects for the atmospheric absorptive aerosol effect. Radiative transfer simulations
were conducted assuming a non-absorptive model aerosol with a soot-type aerosol at various mixture ratios. The results indicate
that while the spectral dependency of aerosol reflectance does not change in the longer (>550 nm) wavelength region, the reflectance
at shorter wavelengths is highly variable and depends on the mixture ratio. The influence of aerosol absorption was also investigated
using GLI data from ocean areas adjacent to Japan in the presence of absorptive Siberian fire smoke aerosol in the spring
of 2003. The spectral curvature of the aerosol was estimated from the data obtained. An empirical, iterative scheme that detects
and evaluates the influence of absorptive aerosols was developed by comparing 380 nm GLI-observed aerosol reflectance with
predicted reflectances derived using an in-water optical model. To evaluate the performance of this scheme, satellite-derived
normalized water-leaving radiances were compared with those measured from a ferry servicing Nagasaki and Fukue. The results
of data acquired on March 20, 2003, indicate that this absorption correction scheme improved root mean square estimation error
for normalized water-leaving radiance by approximately 40% in the 380, 400, and 412 nm bands. This atmospheric correction
algorithm was used as a part of the second version of the GLI standard ocean color data process system at Japan Aerospace

In order to assess the roles of Fe and Cu in outbreaks ofChattonella antiqua red tide, concentrations of these metals in the surface seawater were monitored around the Ie-shima Islands in the Seto Inland Sea during the summers of 1986–1988. Bioassay of the surface seawater with respect to Fe and Cu was also conducted using a cultured strain ofC. antiqua.Concentrations of Fe and Cu in the filtered seawater (FeF and CuF) were in the range of 3.9–10.0 and 9.3–11.2 nM, respectively. The bioassay with respect to Fe revealed that Fe at the surface layer was usually insufficient to support the maximum growth rate ofC. antiqua, except whenC. antiqua was dominant in the field. However, correlations between FeF and the growth rate of the control cultures (Fe, EDTA=not enriched; N, P, B12=enriched at optimum levels) were not apparent, probably because FeF did not reflect the concentration of available Fe.The bioassay with respect to Cu was coupled with the CuF values obtained. The results indicated that Cu at the surface layer was detoxified by complexation with natural organic ligand(s), and that pCu (=minus log of cupric ion activity) was 11.5–11.7, optimum for the growth ofC. antiqua, throughout the survey period. It is suggested that Fe, but not Cu, is a potentially important factor in regulating the natural populations ofC. antiqua in the Seto Inland Sea. 相似文献

Behaviour of dissolved and particulate proteinaceous substances in the estuary of the Tama River was investigated through field observations and laboratory experiments. Concentrations of dissolved proteinaceous substances in estuarine water were determined at eight stations between the mouth of the Tama River (TA-15) and a point 16km upstream (TA-8), using the colorimetric method of Lowryet al. (1951) that employs Folin phenol reagent. The results were expressed in terms of Folin phenol active substances (FPAS). It was found that FPAS decreased with increasing salinity and that the proportion of high molecular weight FPAS (molecular weight greater than 100,000) decreased rapidly in the estuary.The shapes, sizes and numbers of amorphous particulate substances stained by Amido Black 10B, called Amido Black active substances (ABAS), were determined under a microscope. The numbers of ABAS retained on Millipore HA filters (mean diameter: 10–80µm) amounted to 450ml–1 in the estuarine water about 6km from the mouth of the estuary (Station TA-12M). Some of these aggregates are considered to be producedin situ by flocculation of high molecular weight FPAS during estuarine mixing. The Bragg Crystal Spectrometer (BCS) is one of the instruments which makes up the scientific payload of the SOLAR-A mission. The spectrometer employs four bent germanium crystals, views the whole Sun and observes the resonance line complexes of H-like Fexxvi and He-like Fexxv, Caxix, and Sxv in four narrow wavelength ranges with a resolving power (/) of between 3000 and 6000. The spectrometer has approaching ten times better sensitivity than that of previous instruments thus permitting a time resolution of better than 1 s to be achieved. The principal aim is the measurement of the properties of the 10 to 50 million K plasma created in solar flares with special emphasis on the heating and dynamics of the plasma during the impulsive phase. This paper summarizes the scientific objectives of the BCS and describes the design, characteristics, and performance of the spectrometers.After the launch the name of SOLAR-A has been changed to YOHKOH.Tragically Professor K. The porphyry Cu deposits at Waisoi in Namosi district, Viti Levu are separated into two deposits: the Waisoi East deposit and the Waisoi West deposit. In the Waisoi East deposit, quartz porphyry is exposed and in the Waisoi West deposit, diorite porphyry is sporadically exposed in addition to a small body of quartz porphyry. The mineralization in the Waisoi East deposit is characterized by the bornite–chalcopyrite–pyrite assemblage associated with traces of molybdenite and native gold. Polyphase fluid inclusions in stockwork quartz veinlets show homogenization temperatures ranging from 210 to >500°C. The high‐grade Cu mineralization in the Waisoi West deposit is characterized by the bornite–chalcopyrite–pyrite assemblage accompanied with sheeted and stockwork quartz veinlets. Polyphase fluid inclusions occasionally containing hematite flakes in quartz veinlets in the center of the Waisoi West deposit homogenize at temperatures ranging from 450°C to >500°C. However, fluid inclusions in stockwork quartz veinlets in the periphery, homogenize at lower temperatures around 210°C. Both in the Waisoi East and Waisoi West deposits, primary bornite–chalcopyrite–pyrite assemblage in the high Cu‐grade zone was deposited at the upper stability limit of chalcopyrite with respect to sulfur fugacity. Thus, the principal Cu mineralization at the Waisoi deposits occurred at a relatively high sulfur fugacity, that is, in a high‐sulfidation environment. 相似文献

Cementitious materials used for radioactive waste repository construction complicate the performance assessment of radioactive waste systems because the use of cement may greatly alter the pH (8–13) of groundwater and release constituents such as calcium ions. Under such conditions, it is important to clarify also the dynamic behavior of silica (silicic acid), in order to evaluate the alteration in the chemical and physical properties of the fractured layer or the host rock surrounding the repository. Since silica undergoes polymerization, precipitation or dissolution depending on the pH and/or temperature, the behavior of silica would be greatly complicated in the presence of other ions. This study is focused on the deposition rates of polysilicic acid and soluble silicic acid with up to 10−3 M Ca ions. In the experiment, Na2SiO3 solution (250 mL, pH > 10, 298 K) was poured into a polyethylene vessel containing amorphous silica powder (0.5 g), and a buffer solution, HNO3, and CaNO3 as Ca ions were sequentially added into the vessel. The pH of the solution was set to 8. The silica, initially in a soluble form at pH > 10 (1.4 × 10−2 M), became supersaturated and either deposited on the solid surface or changed into the polymeric form. Then the concentrations of both poly- and soluble silicic acid were monitored over a 40-day period. The decrease of polysilicic acid became slow with an increase in the concentration of Ca ions in the range of up to 10−3 M. In general, the addition of electrolytes to a supersaturated solution accelerates the aggregation and precipitation of polymeric species. However, the experimental result showed that polysilicic acid in the presence of Ca ions is apparently stable in solution, compared with that under a Ca-free condition. On the other hand, the concentration of soluble silicic acid in the presence of Ca ions immediately became metastable, that is, slightly higher than the solubility of soluble silicic acid.
