This study deals with numerical modelling of hydraulic and transport phenomena in granite of the Bohemian massif in Bedrichov, Czechia (Czech Republic). Natural tracers represented by stable isotopes δ18O and δ2H were collected at the tunnel outflow points and nearby catchment and their concentrations were monitored for seven years. The study compared transport simulations by a two-dimensional (2D) physically based model (advection-dispersion) developed in Flow123d software and a simpler lumped-parameter model, calculated with FLOWPC. Both variants were calibrated with UCODE software, either fitting the concentration data alone, or including the tunnel inflow rates in the case of the 2D model calibration (either in separate steps or within a single optimization problem). Since each of the models describes the tracer transport with different parameters, the models were compared based on the mean transit time as a postprocessed quantity. Besides this, two different options for processing the recharge data (input for both models) were evaluated. Calibration and data interpretation were possible for three of the four observed places in the tunnel, thus determining the depth limit of applicability of the stable isotopes. The estimates for discharge sampling at 25–35 m depth based on inverse modelling provide reasonable values of mean transit time (20–40 months) for the lumped parameter models, little revising the results of previous studies at the site. The resulting transport parameters of the advection-dispersion model (porosity and dispersivity) are in accordance with the hydrogeological structures present at the sampling sites.

The form of visual representation affects both the way in which the visual representation is processed and the effectiveness of this processing. Different forms of visual representation may require the employment of different cognitive strategies in order to solve a particular task; at the same time, the different representations vary as to the extent to which they correspond with an individual’s preferred cognitive style. The present study employed a Navon-type task to learn about the occurrence of global/local bias. The research was based on close interdisciplinary cooperation between the domains of both psychology and cartography. Several different types of tasks were made involving avalanche hazard maps with intrinsic/extrinsic visual representations, each of them employing different types of graphic variables representing the level of avalanche hazard and avalanche hazard uncertainty. The research sample consisted of two groups of participants, each of which was provided with a different form of visual representation of identical geographical data, such that the representations could be regarded as ‘informationally equivalent’. The first phase of the research consisted of two correlation studies, the first involving subjects with a high degree of map literacy (students of cartography) (intrinsic method: N?=?35; extrinsic method: N?=?37). The second study was performed after the results of the first study were analyzed. The second group of participants consisted of subjects with a low expected degree of map literacy (students of psychology; intrinsic method: N?=?35; extrinsic method: N?=?27).The first study revealed a statistically significant moderate correlation between the students’ response times in extrinsic visualization tasks and their response times in a global subtest (r?=?0.384, p?<?0.05); likewise, a statistically significant moderate correlation was found between the students’ response times in intrinsic visualization tasks and their response times in the local subtest (r?=?0.387, p?<?0.05). At the same time, no correlation was found between the students’ performance in the local subtest and their performance in extrinsic visualization tasks, or between their scores in the global subtest and their performance in intrinsic visualization tasks. The second correlation study did not confirm the results of the first correlation study (intrinsic visualization/‘small figures test’: r?=?0.221; extrinsic visualization/‘large figures test’: r?=?0.135). The first phase of the research, where the data was subjected to statistical analysis, was followed by a comparative eye-tracking study, whose aim was to provide more detailed insight into the cognitive strategies employed when solving map-related tasks. More specifically, the eye-tracking study was expected to be able to detect possible differences between the cognitive patterns employed when solving extrinsic- as opposed to intrinsic visualization tasks. The results of an exploratory eye-tracking data analysis support the hypothesis of different strategies of visual information processing being used in reaction to different types of visualization.  相似文献

This paper presents a unified approach to the least squares spherical harmonic analysis of the acceleration vector and Eötvös tensor (gravitational gradients) in an arbitrary orientation. The Jacobian matrices are based on Hotine’s equations that hold in the Earth-fixed Cartesian frame and do not need any derivatives of the associated Legendre functions. The implementation was confirmed through closed-loop tests in which the simulated input is inverted in the least square sense using the rotated Hotine’s equations. The precision achieved is at the level of rounding error with RMS about $10^{-12}{-}10^{-14}$  m in terms of the height anomaly. The second validation of the linear model is done with help from the standard ellipsoidal correction for the gravity disturbance that can be computed with an analytic expression as well as with the rotated equations. Although the analytic expression for this correction is only of a limited accuracy at the submillimeter level, it was used for an independent validation. Finally, the equivalent of the ellipsoidal correction, called the effect of the normal, has been numerically obtained also for other gravitational functionals and some of their combinations. Most of the numerical investigations are provided up to spherical harmonic degree 70, with degree 80 for the computation time comparison using real GRACE data. Results of magnetic susceptibility mapping around a coal-burning power plant were used to verify the field in situ measurements with data acquired in laboratory on soil samples collected at approximately the same measurement grid sites at different distance from the source. This comparison enables quantifying the field data obtained using the Bartington MS2 meter and to relate them, at least approximately, to mass specific values. Moreover, it is shown that certain diversity in the grid points of field measurements and soil sampling can slightly bias the field measurements. However, this shift is of minor significance and Bartington field readings can be considered as reliable.  相似文献

Summary The hysteresis properties of synthetic samples with very low contents of hematite, pyrrhotite, greigite and admixtures of magnetite and hematite in a diamagnetic matrix have been studied. The diamagnetic matrix used was sodium chloride (NaCl). The contents of the magnetic minerals varied for hematite from 0.5 to 6 wt%, for pyrrhotite from 0.02 to 0.2 wt% and for greigite from 0.02 to 0.6 wt%. Diamagnetic contributions to the magnetization curves can be distinguished in the measured samples. We observed a non-linear dependence of coercivity and saturation magnetization upon increasing contents of hematite as a result of effects of both the diamagnetic matrix and the hematite content. Only the saturation remanence which is measured in a zero magnetic field has a linear dependence on the hematite concentration. The shape of the hysteresis curves of admixtures of magnetite and hematite are probably caused by magnetostatic interactions.  相似文献

Nowadays Regional Climate Models (RCMs) are increasingly used for downscaling of information from the coarse resolution of global climate models (GCMs) and they represent a more and more popular tool for assessment of future climate changes and their impacts at regional scales. In spite of continual progress of RCMs, their outputs still suffer from many uncertainties and biases. Therefore, it is necessary to assess their ability to simulate observed climate characteristics and uncertainties in their outputs before they are applied in subsequent studies. In the present study, the assessment of RCM performance in simulating climate in the reference period of 1961–1990 over the area of Czech Republic is presented. Furthermore, we focused on the intercomparison of the models’ results, mainly on the comparison of the Czech model ALADIN-Climate/CZ with outputs of other RCMs. Simulation of ALADIN-Climate/CZ in 25-km horizontal resolution, and thirteen RCM simulations from the ENSEMBLES project were assessed. Attention was paid especially to comparison of simulated and observed spatial and temporal variability of several climatic variables. The monthly and seasonal values of surface air temperature, precipitation totals and relative humidity were examined for evaluation of temporal variability and 30-year seasonal and monthly values with respect to spatial variability. Climate model performance was evaluated in several ways, namely by boxplots, maps of variability characteristics, skill scores based on mean square error and Taylor diagrams. Model errors detected by model evaluation depend on many factors (e.g. considered variables and their characteristics, area of analysis, time scale of interest and the method of assessment). On the basis of incorporated performance criteria model ALADIN-Climate/CZ belonged to a better group of RCMs in most cases. However, it was definitely the worst in simulating spring monthly means of air temperature and relative humidity in all seasons.  相似文献

We provide the circumstances and details of the fireball observation, search expeditions, recovery, strewn field, and physical characteristics of the Ko?ice meteorite that fell in Slovakia on February 28, 2010. The meteorite was only the 15th case of an observed bolide with a recovered mass and subsequent orbit determination. Despite multiple eyewitness reports of the bolide, only three videos from security cameras in Hungary were used for the strewn field determination and orbit computation. Multiple expeditions of professionals and individual searchers found 218 fragments with total weight of 11.3 kg. The strewn field with the size of 5 × 3 km is characterized with respect to the space distribution of the fragments, their mass and size‐frequency distribution. This work describes a catalog of 78 fragments, mass, size, volume, fusion crust, names of discoverers, geographic location, and time of discovery, which represents the most complex study of a fresh meteorite fall. From the analytical results, we classified the Ko?ice meteorite as an ordinary H5 chondrite.  相似文献
